Guardian Ororo chapter 5

One week after the funeral

Peter now officially met everyone in the mansion at least once. He didn't stay in their company much, not that they blamed him especially since the funeral was still so fresh in his mind. Ororo and even some of the other students(when they weren't at school) tried getting him of his out of his room occasionally, because staying in a room all day was unhealthy. He was set to go back to school two days from now, which he wasn't looking forward to, but you can only skip so many days of education. But at least he will know people there and Kitty even offered to show him around. During the week they had compared classes and they actually were in half of their classes together. The other kids in his grade also had a few classes with him as well, so there will always be a familiar face around. He had some school supplies left from his old school, but needed some new stuff. Ororo had showed him where they keep all the school supplies, as having as many teenagers around as they do, your going to need extra school supplies.

Currently it was quite early in the morning and Peter laid awake even though everyone else was surely asleep. Staying awake was a regular occurrence but he couldn't help but be bored. His PSP was dead so he couldn't play that (forgot to charge it recently) and He already went out as Spider-Man for a couple of hours earlier, but came back in order to try and get some sleep. But easier said than done. He stopped a car thief and house burglar, but other then that nothing else was happening in terms of crime. He looked at his alarm clock in his room which said 4:22 am. A picture of him and his aunt and uncle was sitting on the nightstand, which he gave a pained expression towards the photo, so he set it face down out of sight. Unfortunately that didn't help his mind from continuing to think about his aunt. Sighing he got up from his bed and decided he was going to have some tea. Whenever he was feeling restless his aunt sometimes made him tea, which always helped him at least somewhat. Grabbing his brand new phone, he left for the kitchen.

Despite not living here long, he remembered the way to the kitchen easily. Being Spider-Man, it became a habit to know the layout of wherever you are at, so he usually knows the place quicker than your average person. Of course being so early in the morning, nobody was in the kitchen which made him feel relieved. He didn't bother putting on the lights as the dark didn't bother him. Sometimes he even preferred the dark, because his senses are dialed to eleven, so anything too bright messed with him.

He had to think for a moment, then remembered Ororo mentioning where they kept the tea and he pulled out the drawer. In the drawer was filled with many different kinds of tea. He honestly never heard most of these teas and just picked out an earl grey packet and proceeded to boil some water in the microwave instead of a kettle. Kettles are noisy and he didn't want to wake anyone so, he went with the microwaves as you can stop it before it beeps. After getting the water boiling, he put it in a coffee cup and put the earl grey tea bag in and waited for it to be ready.

While he was waiting he went on the new phone Ororo gave him and started playing a game he downloaded, called Hogwarts Mystery. He had taken a quiz a few years ago, about what house you would be sorted into and he got hufflepuff, which was the house he picked to be in the game. After a few minutes of playing he decided to check on his tea. He took a sip and after he decided it was good enough, he tossed the tea bag into the garbage. Minutes went by as he sipped on his tea and played the app. He fed his niffler and then started taking some flying lessons, when somebody spoke to him.

"Is something the matter bub?" A gruff voice rang out in the dark, causing him to spill the rest of what was left of his tea. Even though he had a six sense that can predict danger, it doesn't help with any thing that doesn't want to cause him harm.

"Uh… why would you think that Mr. Logan?" Peter managed so say, as he went to grab some paper towels to wipe up the spilled tea. He only managed to meet Logan once during his time here and that was just a brief meet and greet. Even though the said person was quite short and he stood quite a bit taller than the man at 5'10, but somehow Logan was still intimidating.

"You wouldn't be out here drinking tea in the dark at 4:50 am, if nothing was wrong." Logan replied which Peter thought he had a point. Wolverine then walked over to the fridge and grabbed a coke (normally his choice would be an alcoholic beverage but given this was a school for children, no Alcohol was aloud, at least in anyplace the children has access too. But he does have his own stuff locked in his room which he threatened that if he catches anyone trying to steal any of it they'll surely regret it.) "And no Mr. Logan crap ok, just Logan." He told the boy and sat down across from him.

"Of course M… er Logan. And I just couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd have some tea." Peter nearly slipped up again(sometimes he still calls Ororo Ms. Munroe accidentally, as it's a tuff habit to break.) His phone's light shut off from lack of touch, so the room got darker, which didn't effect Logan's sight at all.

"Look kid I'm not the best when it comes to comforting, but I'll have you know I'll listen to what you have to say if you need someone to talk to." Logan said a bit awkwardly. He too felt awful at times because of his lost memory, not that he lets it show very often and if he could have his way, then not at all. And he wasn't going to tattle on him to Ororo, if the boy didn't go to her himself(unless he was hurt or something.)

Peter took the mans words in. Ororo did say he should find someone to talk to if he didn't want a therapist. Even though he found the man a bit intimidating, he somehow felt safe being alone in the room with him. Maybe its because the man basically had nothing to hide, as he heard from Ororo that Logan has lost his memory. But whatever the case he started talking. "I cant stop thinking about my aunt to the point I cant sleep." He confessed. He felt a little bit lighter and felt it was a start to the promise he made to his aunt about getting better.

"Cannot say I remember losing someone so precious to me but I do know stuff like this only gets better in time. Since I lost my memories it still bites not knowing who I was, but eventually time went on and it became less painful. Still would like to know who I was before I lost my memory, but I'm finally feel like I'm okay as I am now." Sure his past is unknown, but right now he's living a good life as wolverine of the X-Men, which he is content with, if he never did get his memories back.

Peter nodded " Yeah everyone says it gets better with time, but I'm not sure if I'll fully ever heal." May was everything to him, that's the main reason he decided to wear a mask, so his aunt would stay safe from the bad guys. Now she's gone and he doesn't know how he can move on from that.

"I'd be surprised if you did fully heal kid, to be honest. Sad to say but pain like this never truly goes away, it can get better but not completely. Sorry if that's a bit harsh kid, but it's the truth." Logan bluntly said.

"N-no I rather you be honest then lie to me." Peter quickly said. " And can you please stop calling me kid? I honestly haven't felt like one in a long time." Between Skip and the death of his aunt and uncle, he felt the word kid didn't apply to him at all.

"Sure thing bub, as long as you remember to forget calling me Mr. Logan, then you got a deal." He offered. Peter was obviously still physically a kid, but mentally was a different story. He knew just by looking at Peter. He had a completely different aura to him, then say somebody like Kitty or Bobby who hasn't had to deal with the harshness of the world yet.

Peter smiled slightly at the man a nodded. "S-sounds good to me."

Peter occasionally talked to Logan, while the man who just listened to whatever he had to say. Time went on until they were joined by Charles, Hank and Ororo and to much to their surprise finding both Peter and Logan in a conversation. By this time it wasn't dark anymore, as the morning sun shined through the windows.

"… so then his hair caught on fire." Peter said laughing. " Ned never had his hair that long again." Peter was telling Logan about Ned's birthday party years ago, were Ned got his hair on fire from his birthday candles. Although Logan wasn't outright laughing , he had a huge grin plastered on his face from the story. All the adults smiled at the scene, as it was rare to see Peter laughing.

"Good morning Peter, Logan." Ororo greeted them. "It's nice to see you out of you're room Pete, but if you were having trouble sleeping again, you could of came to me you know that." She directed at the boy. She told him many times if he had a problem he could always come to her no matter what time a day it is. But he was just getting to know her and haven't quite built up a high enough relationship in order for him to feel comfortable enough talking to her. But from she saw with him and Logan, she was glad he was at least talking to someone.

Peter looked a bit guilty. He could say ' Sorry I didn't want to bother you.` but he knew she would say, no need to keep apologizing and you know you can come to my any time. "Thought some tea might help me sleep but then Logan came in and we ended up talking for a bit."

"That's completely fine. Although I would love it if you came and talked to me but I'm glad your talking to someone. Thank you Logan." Logan was their least sociable adult and to see him taking heart to heart(well as much as you can with Wolverine) with one of the kids was rare, even more so since Peter was still new.

"No need of thanks. Pete here is surprisingly chatty once you get him going." Logan said much to Peters embarrassment. "Nice talking to ya bub, but I'm going to head out." They all said their goodbyes to him. Again Logan isn't a sociable person so, when they others got there he didn't need to stay and keep him company.

Ororo grabbed some pans and started making some eggs and bacon for everyone. She's been cooking a lot more lately mostly because she wanted to make sure Peter ate. Once in awhile Peter would still manage to skip a few meals even though everyone was keeping an eye out.

"Glad to hear it." Professor Xavier said as he got the coffee machine going. "Hank would you mind turning on the news for me?"

"You got it." Hank pressed the on button and the TV came to life. The reporter was talking to a man about a break in that Spider-Man stopped. The owner of the house was thanking him as he had children sleeping in the house at the time of the break in. Hearing that Peter's heart raced. The last thing he wanted was for the topic of Spider-man to come up. "Hmmm I thought Spider-Man was usually in Queens?" He asked no one in particular.

"He is. Perhaps he decided to expand his area?" Ororo suggested as she scrambled the eggs and added bacon to the other pan, sizzling noise shot from the pan.

"You would think, but he hasn't been seen in in Queens in a couple of weeks. Maybe he just moved." Xavier told them. He poured coffee into a cup and took a sip.

"Could be but all we can do is speculate." Hank added.

Hoping for a different topic change Peter said. " What are you're guy's plans today?"

"Today I'm planting some new flowers seeds in my garden, in honor of May. I would of planted them earlier in the week but its been quite busy." Peter has seen Ororo's garden a few times and it was pretty impressive. I suppose having the power of the weather you could easily make the perfect garden, it would practically be a waste not to use it. "Your welcome to join me if you want?" She offered him.

Peter thought for a moment before answering. "Sure." If it was for May then he'd want to go, plus he was heading to school in a few days so he'll have to be going out more. Just don't ask him to head to any party's or any place with large crowds any time soon, as he just isn't ready for it.

"Great I was thinking sometime after I say goodbye to the children before they head to school." Ororo told him.

"Sounds like an awesome idea. I'm going to tinker around in the lab for a bit, not much else going on for me." Hank announced. He may look like a beast but he was more of a scientist. " When your done in the garden your welcome to check out the lab under my supervision of course." They knew Peter was incredibly smart. In fact calling him smart would do him injustice, but of course no matter how smart he was, he was still a child whom, they wouldn't leave in the hands of all potentially dangerous equipment alone. Especially if said person wasn't getting much sleep.

"Sounds fun I'll think about it." He loved science and Hank also sounded like a great guy but wasn't sure if he ready to start doing a bunch of stuff today as he was tired. He will just see how he feels after the garden with Ororo.

"As a said you don't have to come, but if you do you'll be more than welcome." Hank smiled at the boy.

"Thank you." He said quietly.

"I'm afraid today for me will be mostly paperwork, but when that's done I have a good book to read that I find very interesting." Professor Xavier chimed in.

"Oh… what's the book about." Peter had no idea how else to respond.

"It's a new philosophy book I ordered. Got it in the mail yeaterday." Xavier proceeded to explain the basics of the book and Peter only got some part of what the book was about.

"Breakfast is done!" Ororo announced. "Peter would you mind setting the table?" He got up and grabbed enough plates and silverware for everyone. Ororo then put two pieces of bacon and some scrambled eggs on each plate. "Here's some fruit to choose from if you want." Before setting the fruit bowl on the table she held it in front of the professor, so he had easy access to the fruit. He ended up grabbing a banana and thanking her.

It didn't take long for some students to start flowing in to join them. The students being Scott, Jean, Rogue and Kitty. The adults greeted the children as they came in. Xavier stayed for a few more minutes but then left to do some work. Hank also left for the lab.

"That smells good!" said Scott excitedly.

"There's plenty to go around, help yourself everyone." Ororo Stated.

"I definitely will. Did you make all this?" He asked so he can thank whoever made breakfast.

"Yes I did." She answered.

"Well thank you Ororo." He replied.

"Yeah, like thank you." Kitty added. The rest also said some sort of thank you as well to her. "Hi Peter" She said grabbing a plate and sitting right next to him. "You ready for school tomorrow?" While she waited for a response she grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl.

"As ready as I can be." Peter told her finishing off his plate. Whatever issues he had, it would need more time to heal and it just wasn't possible with the amount of time he had off. But the place he is at now was at least better then when his aunt just died. Before he could barely function but now with some pushing from others he actually ate(mostly) or went out of his room. But he still had a long way to go to be finally okay.

"Well like I said, I'll show you around Bayville high and if you need any help, just ask anyone from the mansion." She said.

" And we'll be happy to help with whatever you need." Jean added. "If you can't find us, you can always send us a text." Besides the adults numbers being already in his phone, Ororo also put in Jean and Scott's numbers as well. Everyone else had to ask for his number if they wanted it. He didn't really have any reason to deny anyone if they asked, he just didn't go out looking for them. He had a total of four students who asked for his number so far, who were Kitty, Kurt, Bobby and Evan.

"Thank you. T-that means a lot to me." Peter said truthfully.

"Oh yeah just heads up the brotherhood might mess with you once they find out you live here. They'll probably think you're a mutant." Scott warned. That was logical they would think that as before only mutants lived here. "If they get to much come find one of us."

"The brotherhood? Who are they?" Peter questioned not liking were this was going.

"They a bunch of bullies with powers. Whenever they cause trouble we stop them." Rogue piped in.

"There not always bad. I mean Lance helped stop the younger kids from making a grave mistake." Kitty said alluding to the time Bobby and the others took the X-jet. If it wasn't for her and Lance they probably would have died. "Or when he saved me from being impaled." She was talking about when she was in gym class when Jean's powers went haywire. She shuddered to think what would of happened, if he hadn't used his earthquake powers to move her.

"Sure, but that's just Lance. Can you name one good thing the others did? I mean Fred even kidnapped Jean which was super creepy." Rogue argued which Kitty couldn't think of anything to say back to that. Jean herself made a face at the memory. "Anyways I would just avoid them if you can."

"Got it. They sound like some of the people at my old school." Peter said without thinking. He hated to admit that he got bullied quite often. He could easily handle them, but he choose not to fight back. One because to drive suspicion far away that he was Spider-man and two it just wasn't the hero way to beat up just anyone, no matter how much they deserved it.

"You were bullied in school? May never mentioned any of that." Ororo was heartbroken to hear this. The others also had a looks of sadness plastered on their faces which he hated getting.

"Er… I didn't want her to worry." He said. Flash never got physical with him anymore because the one time he did get physical with him caused Peter to freak out from the sudden touch and May had to be called into the school to get him. So Flash resorted to calling him names(his favorite being a certain male part) and would just constantly put him down. Ned was also another one of his favorite people to pick on as he would often make fun of his weight or calling him his boyfriend. Peter would often defend his friend which made him even more of a target, but if that made things easier for Ned, it was well worth it. He felt sad now that Ned had to deal with Flash all by himself.

"Peter…" Ororo frowned at his response. It seemed his answer for a lot of things including why he was up in the kitchen so early. "If someone is bothering you please say something." This boy deserved something good happening to him, and not all these cruel situations that seem to be following him around all the time.

"Hey its better if you say something. I got bullied by a bunch of girls for a while but then I had enough and told someone about it." Kitty remembered being shoved into her locker being scared out of her wits until she used her powers to phase out. "Now they don't bother me anymore, but they still glare at me from time to time." Although that doesn't seem to work on everyone who bullies(the brotherhood for example).

"Okay." He wasn't used to so many people at his side. He only had two people in his life and that was his aunt May and Ned. But now since May passed he never felt more alone in his life, but since Ororo took him to live at the mansion so many people are willing to help him. It was so surreal. He felt like weather or not he actually went to them if someone was giving him a hard time, someone would see or hear about it since, so many people who live at the mansion go to school there.

"So Is anybody coming to the carnival this Friday night?" Kitty Questioned everyone wanting to move on from all this depressing talk almost as much as Peter. "I totally am."

"I'm going with Duncan." Jean announced.

"With that loser?" Rogue said with disgust. She still cannot believe how Jean can put up with that guy.

With a glare Jean said. "Don't call him that! He's fine."

Yeah maybe he's fine to you because he wants to get into your pants she thought hoping she didn't read her mind just then. "Okay, okay. I just think you deserve much better than him." Rogue held her hands up in defeat. Kitty half coughed the name Scott causing Rogue to laugh a little. It seemed everyone could see how they felt about each other except themselves. How cliché can you get. Jean said nothing more but continued to give her a glare.

"Anyways Peter, would you want to go to the carnival? I'm driving Kurt and we could have a guys night." Scott offered.

"I'm sorry but I'm not ready to go out yet." Peter declined. The last time he left to go somewhere was May's funeral and he just wasn't ready yet to head out if it wasn't necessary. "Sounds fun though."

"Hey no biggie. Just thought I'd ask." Scott wasn't offended at all. In fact he expected him to say no, but had to be sure.

Peter was long done with his food and decided this was a good opportunity to say goodbye, before the kitchen becomes unbearably crowded. Ororo told him she would meet him in a few minutes to go to the garden, so Peter waited outside the kitchen waving hello to any student passing.

Ororo eventually came out and together they walked to her garden. Upon reaching their destination Peter noticed something new added to the garden he hadn't seen before. A huge stone that said `This is dedicated in the memory of May Parker.' "Even though I was busy this week, I managed to put his out."

"I… its great." Peter then threw his arms around her in a hug as some fresh tears fell out of his eyes. Ororo gladly accepted the hug and after a few moments they seperated.

"I'm glad you think so. Here I have some seeds of her favorite flower we can plant around the stone." She held up a bag of seeds that had the name lilac printed on them. "She used these for her wedding with Ben. I was actually there at the wedding and she even made me a bridesmaid." Peter seen some pictures of his aunt's wedding, which was a few years before he was even born. Suddenly he remembered seeing Ororo in a few of them, but never asked who she was because their were a lot of people in the pictures and they all kind of blend in to one another if you don't know the person.

"S-she'll like that I bet." Peter hiccupped. "Y-you were at their wedding?" He heard stories from his aunt and uncle, but it would be nice to get another persons point of view who was at the wedding.

"Yes. I have some pictures that I could show you if you want." She'll have to dig them out, but it would be worth it. Peter nodded. "Okay. I'll get them out and we could look at them together."

After planting the flower seeds they both spent some time in the garden before going back in. Yawning Peter said. "Tell Mr. McCoy I'll have to take a rain check on the lab, I'm dead on my feet."

"I will. Get some rest okay Pete? Tomorrow's a big day." Ororo addressed him.

"I can't promise I will but I'll try." He said truthfully.

"That's all I ask."

Peter's first day of back to school

Peter hardly slept but managed at least a few hours of sleep, before it was time to get up for school. He held back a yawn as he got his new backpack he chose, from the extra school supplies they had. There were many to choose from and he ended up picking a red Puma backpack. Of course he had a habit of losing back packs all the time while going out as Spider-Man. May was fed up after he lost the third backpack, so whenever he did lose one after that she took him to the goodwill because she wasn't made of money. Very embarrassing, but he had no choice one time, but to use a frozen backpack for a few weeks. He purposely lost that Frozen backpack, so he wouldn't get teased anymore at school. His next backback wasn't so embarrassing, thank god!

Their was a knock on his door. "Come in." He shouted. The door opened to reveal Ororo who was carrying a few things.

"Good morning Peter! I made you some lunch to take with you for your first day back." She handed him one of the items she was carrying, which was a brown paper bag. "You can either choose to continue bringing bag lunches to school or eat from the school cafeteria, which would be paid for. In the bag is a ham and cheese sandwich, an apple, a strawberry yogurt and some trail mix. If you choose to bring your own lunches to school you can certainly customize what you want to have in it." She told him.

"Wow, um thanks Ororo." Peter hesitantly took the brown bag and put it in his school backpack. He usually ate school lunches at his old school, but they weren't always the best, so he might go with home lunches.

"Your welcome Peter. After you eat breakfast you'll be getting a ride to and from school either from Scott or Jean. If they are not available I will certainly give you a ride myself." She informed him.

"Okay." Peter was not used to rides being available to and from school, so this will take some time getting used too.

"I hope you had some sleep and I bid you a wonderful day of school today." She wished him good luck.

"I… did manage a few hours of sleep." He admitted truthfully. And he'll have to see weather today is good or not.

"That's good you managed to sleep at least a little. I stopped by Bruegger's Bagels this morning and got you a special breakfast just for today." She handed him another bag. Today was going to be stressful for him, so if she could help him ease just some of that stress, she'll be happy. Peter looked inside revealing a few different kinds of bagels. "I didn't know which ones you'd like so I got a couple different ones."

"Thanks…" Peter didn't know what he did To deserve all this kindness Ororo has given him and some tears started to form in his eyes.

"What is something wrong? Do you not like bagels?" She asked worried she made the wrong choice for breakfast.

"N-no its not that." Peter wiped his eyes with his right arm making the tears disappear. "I just don't know what I done to deserve all this kindness from you…"

"You deserve all the kindness and more Peter. You know why? You're a wonderful person Pete who just happened to have a lot of bad things happen to you. So I'll continue to give you my kindness because that's what you deserve." She gave him her best heartwarming smile which caused him to blink in confusion. He couldn't believe his ears as he still didn't think he deserved any of it. "Now eat up or your going to be late for your first day back to school."

Peter grabbed a bagel out of the bag and unwrapped it thankful he wasn't in the kitchen at the moment, because looking at his clock in his room he imagined in was quite packed, as school was getting closer to starting. He took a small bite of his ham, sausage and cheese bagel. They sat in silence until he was done with his bagels which Ororo was delighted he ate. When it was time to head out Ororo gave him and her nephew Evan a hug before they left for school. She was getting attached to the boy as she was even thinking of adopting him eventually but knew Peter wasn't ready for something like that yet. Peter rode with Scott, Kurt and Kitty to Bayville high.

There were still time left before first period so waving goodbye to Scott and Kurt, Kitty took Peter on a tour like she promised. She showed him the cafeteria, gym, the main office and some of the clubs. "I remembered you said you liked photography, so if you ever wanted to join the photography club they meet here twice a week." She Said. "Were you in the photography club at your old school?" She wondered.

"Er… no I wasn't. I was actually in dethlacon with my best friend Ned." He mentioned.

"What's that?" Kitty never heard of that club before, as they certainly didn't have the club here.

"In dethlacon we basically answer questions competitively with other schools. So we have to study a lot of topics so we can answer the questions correctly." Peter explained.

Kitty made a face at the idea of studying outside of regular school stuff. "Sorry but we don't actually have that here at Bayville. Hope your not disappointed."

"I figured since you didn't know what it was. And I'm not disappointed." Peter said fidgeting because he was getting a lot of stares from the students in the hallways, as it was strange seeing a new person transfer after school has already started.

Noticing his uncomfortableness Kitty said. "Don't ya worry Pete. You'll have someone with you in all your classes. We have first period together with Ms. Hunter, third with Ms. Kane and forth with Mr. Connors. You'll like Mr. Connors as he's the science teacher. He actually replaced Mr. McCoy as the science teacher after he became beast."

"That's slightly comforting." Peter said as he felt like less of an outcast, because he knows a lot of people who goes here.

"Oh only slightly?" Kitty teased making the corner of Peters lips turn upward. "Anyways lets go find your locker and head to first class together."

The first part of the day went relatively okay. Wasn't the greatest as he was still new to the building and his class schedule. But then lunch hit and of course he barely got into his homemade lunch when a group of students approached him. And holy cow one of them was huge! What did this guy eat? The marshmallow dude from the ghost busters? and if Flash thought Ned was huge, just wait until he sees this guy. Except he hoped Flash wasn't stupid enough to mock this guys weight because that could end very badly. On second thought let him and maybe he'll learn his lesson. He gathered these kids were the brotherhood they were speaking of the day before.

"Yo saw you come out of Cyclops's ride!" Said the smelly one.

"You a mutie?"The one with brown hair said bluntly and Peter hoped nobody around heard him say something about mutants.

"No I'm not." He was telling the truth. He wasn't born with his powers but got them more out of a freak accident.

"What!? Summers offering a taxi service now?" He replied back causing the group to laugh.

"Yeah, yeah! Maybe I'll have him to drive me around and be my chauffeur." The stinky one blurted still chucking hard. A fly flew by and the kid's tongue launched fast out of his mouth and grabbed it making Peter to lose his appetite.

"Ugh... I don't think i can eat anymore." He said pushing his bag lunch back. For once he was not chosing to eat because of depression but pure grossness.

"Well don't mind if i do." Chubs said who tried to take what was left of his lunch but the boy with the unnatural tongue swept up the food Ororo had given him. Big guy grabbed air looking confused for a second before he whined "Toooaaad!" Peter thought the name Toad was fitting as he glared at them. Sure he wasn't going to finish it but that didn't mean he was handing it out and if he was, he certainly wouod not be giving it to them.

Before Peter could say anything to them, Jean came up from behind him. "I hope your not bothering Peter here?" She said to them warningly.

"Back off grey! Were just getting to know the new guy." The one with white hair said. "I'm Pietro, that's Todd but feel free to call him Toad, big guy here is Fred and lastly this is Lance." He introduced them. "So you live with these X-guys?"

Jean ignored him and asked Peter. "Are they bothering you?" Peter hesitantly nodded and she turned back to the brotherhood. "You guys better leave him alone or you'll have to deal all of us at the mansion."

"Geez way to kill the mood. Lets go guys." Lance said grumbling. The group huddled to another table away from them and sat down, Fred taking up one side completely. "He's got to have powers otherwise he wouldn't be riding with Summers right? I say we find out what it is what his powers are." He declared. They didn't say no to Pietro's question, even if they didn't say yes. So if he is living at the mansion, it was even more likely he had powers, but just lying to them about having none.

"You okay?" Jean consoled Peter after they left.

"Yeah, fortunely the only causality was the lunch Ororo gave me." Peter joked. "Nothing I haven't dealt with before and actually they were pretty mild compared to Flash." Peter reassured which to her wasn't comforting at all.

"Well I hope you don't get on the receiving end of any more bullying because no matter how bad or not it is its still bullying." She stated. "And if your still hungry, you can still get some food. Today's burger day."

"Yeah, I don't think I can eat anything more." Peter made a face at the thought of food.

Jean frowned and said. "Did you at least eat something before Toad ate your lunch?" She wasnt going to make him eat anymore, but she was still worried for her friend.

Kitty put her tray of food down on the table joining them."Hey Peter, hey Jean. Did I miss anything? I had to use the rest room, which had a super looooong line, then I had to get some food." Kitty spoke fast. Jean told her about Peter's run in with the brotherhood, even though Peter would just rather forget all about it.

"Wow." Kitty fumed. " They never seem to learn anything! Can't even go a few days without one of them taunting us. I'm sorry Peter you had to deal with them, on your first day no less."

"It's no biggie. Yeah, it sucked, but i have you guys to make the day go better right?" Peter said.

Like a flick of a switch Kitty brightened up. "Yeah! You can count on us." She gladly said, Jean also nodding to what Kitty had promised. Peter's heart tugged at all the kindness they're showing him. Maybe today will get better after all. They were soon joined by Scott, Rogue and Kurt who the latter talked his ear off, which Peter didn't mind, as he'd rather listen, than be the one speaking.

Meanwhile a certain blonde was seething after watching the new kid hang with his girl. Jean was his and his alone. Summers was bad enough, now this puny kid thinks he can get chummy with Jean, Think again! He and his buddies were going to teach this punk a lesson he'll never forget.

Peter had a sudden chill. Why suddenly was his sense going off? He scanned the cafiteria only to come up with nothing. Noticing his change in behavior Scott said "You ok Pete?"

Peter shook his head "Yeah, I'm fine." Whatever it was, they didn't seem to be in immediate danger, so he stopped looking. He may of said he was fine, but couldn't help but feel nervous of his surroundings. Maybe today wasn't going to be such a good day after all.

A/N: next chapter wont be another month and half. I'm actually looking forward to write next chapter as its one of my favorite episodes of xmen evolution. Until next time.
