A week after everything that had happened. Life for everyone involved continued as normal as they always had, except for the inhabitants of the House Owl. First, Luz was a witch, she had always been a witch but now she was aware of it and her emotion overflowed through her body. Second, Eda no longer had her magic, she had recovered her usual appearance except for her eye and the new white line in her hair that in her words only made her look better, but her magic was completely gone as long as she had no help from Owlbert. And the last thing, Lilith now also lived in the house, needless to say that even with everything Camila did not receive her precisely with her open arms.
At one point, Camila and Eda sat with Luz on the big red couch in the living room. They calmly told her their whole story together, about the things that happened that led them to this point in their lives, and most importantly, about who Luz' father was and why it was important that he didn't find her.
"You know, the truth is that I always wondered why your gaze became so gloomy and you avoided the subject when I asked about my father, and now that you tell me all this I can understand why you do it." She looked at her mother with understanding eyes and a smile that was getting bigger and bigger, "Besides," she now looked at Eda with a slightly more serious face, then change it back to her big sunshine smile, "I don't need a father, I have the two best moms in any realm!" She hugged both women with great joy, both immediately returned the hug and did not let go until King included himself into the hug demanding some attention as well, to which the three laughed a little and proceeded to hug him. Whatever happened, they were a family now.
Luz walked smiling happily through the corridors of Hexside, new earrings decorating her again round ears. Today Amity was finally going back to class after the whole broken leg accident and Luz was going to give her a big surprise, for which she asked Willow, Gus and Viney to keep the secret for her. They had already promised to keep the whole matter of her true origin a secret for as long as possible, but when Viney finally realized that Eda was Lord Calamity she couldn't help that while talking to Jerbo & Barchus the fact that one of the troublemakers was the daughter of two of her idols so now they knew it too, but no one else until it was time to tell Amity. Well maybe she undid the illusion around her ears just a second to scare Boscha and her gang, but by not telling them then it didn't count as if they knew.
Well, there was also the fact that they had to inform Bump about the matter, after all now Luz would be wanted by the Emperor's Coven not for being a human but for her lineage, but still the headmaster was more than willing say keep the secret when it was a request from one of the students who he had appreciate the most in all his years of teaching.
"Aww Bump, I knew that deep down you loved me."
"I was talking about Ms. Noceda."
The day continued normally, maybe Luz now had the possibility to do magic, but that didn't mean that she could do it with all the freedom as she would like. It was not just a matter of keeping her cover with her classmates, but rather that her vile sack hadn't fully healed an it would take some more time for her using magic freely. After the last scream of the bell, Luz hurried to the school gates where her friends would be waiting for her. Her speed only increased when she spotted mint green hair in a distinctive bun in the crowd of students. "Amity!" Luz practically swam through the crowd of people to give a giant hug to one of the best friends she had ever had in her life, she had missed her so much, and she couldn't wait to see her reaction after revealing everything she had discovered of herself.
Camila was going through all the things in the attic of her house in the human world. Yeah she would now live with Eda and everything, but she had fought a lot to keep that house standing for 14 years and she didn't want to leave it just like that. Likewise, she asked for a week off job to prepare for her new life, she had struggled so much to have her place in the hospital to leave everything as if it meant nothing, it might not be a job that required magic, but she still liked it, after all; she liked to help people no matter what realm she was in. It wasn't that she didn't like living in the Boiling Islands, but she had gotten used to the relative peace that the human world offered her, plus it was always a good place to hang out with the family during afternoons when they had nothing to do, and Eda had moved the connection from the portal of the old cabin in the middle of the forest to the living room at Camila's house, so it was like having a single big house where they could come and go without problems.
Right now she had some things on her mind; First, what would they do about Luz's schooling, her daughter was free to decide which education she would prefer to take between a human and a witch education, but they had to decide before the end of the summer. The second and most important, she had to find the wedding dress that was stored somewhere, the wedding would be in a few days and since all her old stuff were out of the question, she decided to use the new family dress that had been inherited to her from the family who gave her a new roof to live in, she just had to find it among the piles of things.
King poked his head out of one of the boxes Camila had asked him to check, "You have a lot of trash here, wouldn't be better if you throw it away?".
"It's not trash King; this are these are priceless memories." The woman answered while checking another box, that dress should be somewhere.
"So that means if we sold this we would get a lot of money? Is there any practice here that is to take all your old things to the garden and charge people to take them away? Because if not then I have a great idea!" Camila let out a small sigh and only scratched the little demon's back, without wasting any more time they both continued looking for that dress, after all, the wedding was getting closer and closer.
"I can do this, it's going to be a great day, it's going to be the best day in yours & Cam's life!" Eda spoke to her reflection as she tried on the only two outfits she had in her closet in addition to her signature red dress. None of them seemed good enough to her, and to make matters worse, the makeshift ponytail she had done was ripped apart by the pressure of her wild mane. "I can't do this! Cam is going to hate it and our relationship will be over!" She immediately entered in panic mode running around her room trying to calm herself, never in her life had she been so nervous about something and she didn't know how to handle those nerves.
"Edalyn!" Lilith entered the room and put her hands on her sister's shoulders to make her stop running, then she looked her straight in the eyes, "Edalyn look at me, who are you?" Eda did not answer because in her mind she kept going over how much could go wrong before or during the wedding, to which Lilith shook her a little and repeated the question now a little louder.
"E... Eda The Owl Lady".
"And who are you going to marry in two days?".
"Camil… Camila Noceda." Sometimes it was a little hard to remember that she didn't use the name Camille anymore, but her new name was still pretty, and she could keep calling her Cam or Cami when they were cuddling on the couch.
"Yes, the same woman that was your girlfriend for almost half of your life".
"But what if she regrets it at the last minute? What if ours was never meant to be?"
Lilith's hard gaze softened, "Believe me when I tell you there's no way she doesn't want this as much as you do, in my life I've never seen you happier than when you two were together, and everybody with at least one eye can tell how much you love each other." She finally let go her sister, just giving her a little tap on the shoulder "I know I have a lot to make up for, so what about I take you to Bonesborough and get you some fancy clothes?".
"Thank you, Lilith" Eda hugged her sister, she still hasn't forgiven her for cursing her, or for treating her like a criminal for years, but it was still nice to have her big sister back.
"Oh, and also, I'm taking her surname, so good luck having all the family expectations for yourself!" She said as she was getting out, running down the stairs to the main door.
"Wait what?! Edalyn get back here!" Lilith ran off after her, just like when they were young.
Everybody was reunited in that clearing in the forest, well, everyone who was important to the lovely couple. Aside for all their adult friends, Luz' friends were there too, even the troublemakers and the Blight kids, Camila was surprised when Luz told her she was friend with the Blight kids, specially that girl Amity.
Eda was standing in front of the tree sprout that was developing rapidly, she specifically asked Elon not to say why to the other assistants, but apparently his daughter had already told her friends because Luz was looking at her with a big knowing grin. With the help of her sister, she had finally managed to get her hair under control and tie it in an elegant braid that went down to her waist, and for this special occasion she actually made a show of choosing her outfit, of course Luz and Lilith had given her advice separately, but she was the one who ultimately made the decisions about who to listen. She was wearing an elegant deep red long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves gathered at the forearm, over this she wore a black vest with a subtle floral design and silver buttons keeping it close, at the bottom she was wearing fancy white dress pants that fell below her the ankles, under these red ankle boots very could be seen, to complete her outfit she had a white trenchcoat over her shoulders. If it wasn't because her Gemstone was now dark as the night, it would be fully noticeable on her chest. Luz said that she looked like a powerful criminal boss and given the situation with the law that the inhabitants of the Owl House were in, it was not something inappropriate.
The day was more than perfect, there were no signs that boiling rain was going to fall, the gorenados season had not started yet and thanks to the Titan the last painbow was the day before so there was no danger of another soon. "What if the Emperor's Coven launches a surprise attack? What if one of those crazy guys who thought my boyfriends are coming to ruin the party? What if mom rises from her grave and comes to give us a lecture on how she doesn't approve of this relationship?! No, that can't happen, I took care of it precisely." Those were some of the things that were racing through Eda's mind, almost at the same speed as her heart while she waited for Camila to be present. Apparently she still had some last-minute arrangements to be made, Luz said something about a grand entrance, and she bet Eda 20 snails that it would blow her away.
The moment the sun began to set on the horizon, Eda noticed the lines of light glyphs placed as if they were a path to where she was standing, in the distance was Luz, and using Owlbert she activated all the glyphs so that made a real path of lights, these were followed by a plant glyph that Luz used to create what looked like a door made of vegetation and flowers. It slowly opened, and now Eda owed her officially new daughter 20 snails.
If Camila was already beautiful on Eda eyes, now she was stunning. Her hair tied-up in a small bun by a golden ornament that stood out in a brown sea, she was wearing a white long-sleeved blouse, on which she used a vest of the same color as hers but with a vertical striped design instead, on at the bottom she wore black pants that highlighted her figure a bit, black shoes without heels were seen as she walked, she had not used heels for years and had not planned to use them again in her life. Her red Gemstone shining on her chest like a ruby.
After what seemed like hours; probably because Eda was looking everything in slow-motion to perfectly capture every detail of her future wife as possible, Camila finally was at her side. "I couldn't find mom's dress in time, but dad's tuxedo was in perfect condition and I don't think they mind me wearing it, how do I look?".
Eda's brain short-circuited, "Oh mam- I mean! Stunnin- I mean! Beautiful! You look beautiful babe!" Eda pretended that she did not see that the leaves of the sapling grew a little more after her reaction, it was already a lot to have to fight so that her obvious blush would not be noticed. Although seeing that Camila was in a similar shade of red filled her heart with joy.
"Don't we need someone to make this official?" Asked Luz while fighting the tears for seeing her moms looking at each other with so much love in their eyes.
"Normally, someone from the Emperor's Coven would officialize this type of ceremonies in the eyes of the Titan, that or some High-ranking member of the corresponding Coven." Amity answer, totally not blushing while imagining herself & Luz in some years doing the same ceremony.
"Lilith!" Eda screamed without taking her eyes from Camila, the Emperors Coven Ex-leader let out a sigh, she had officialized so many of this before, so she practically had memorized what she had to say.
Going to the couple who were already eager to continue judging by the way their hands were held together, Lilith positioned herself between them and the growing tree. She coughed to get everyone's attention, "Dear children of the Titan, today we are reunited in this beautiful day to unite in sacred matrimony this two souls, under the strongest boiling storm and under the most destructive of hails, their love should ever be eter-
Lilith continue her discourse for some minutes, but Eda wasn't paying attention to her sister at all, neither Camila, both were lost on each other eyes. This was a moment both dreamed during their years on Hexside and after that, their brains were practically on automatic because the moment they hear Lilith say, "Are you willing to unite your soul with this person?" Both let out a strong "I do!" at the same time.
"Then, with everything in place, you can cast your spell and seal it".
The spell, Eda knew she was forgetting something important. The union spell required magic from both to be sealed, and she no longer had any magic. Before she could say anything about it, she felt like a couple of friends sat on her shoulders; one was her faithful palisman, Owlbert. The other was a small fawn the size of a puppy, with big red eyes and a pattern of flowers running from her neck until the start of her white tail, on her back she had a pair of wings made of branches that were enough for short flight sessions, it was Bébinn, Camila's palisman. Both palisman's eyes began to glow and resting their heads against Eda they gave her the magic she needed to continue the ceremony, then both fly away into the already crying Luz. "Thanks." Eda muttered before returning her sight to the woman who was waiting for her.
"With this spell I declare, that my eternal and unbreakable love for you is, my eternal soul will be incomplete, if your heart is absent next to me, until the end of my days in this world, I will say how much I love you without any doubt." While they were talking, magic began to flow trough their connected hands until it covered their entire bodies. For a second, both gemstones shone with the same goldish pink color, like they were resonating with one another, but Eda gem returned to be fully black after the magic of the spell ended. She let out a little sigh a little disappointed, but her mood improve when she saw the big, beautiful smile on Camila's face and the tears of joy that began to stream from the corners of her eyes.
Lilith could barely contain her own sobs and tears of joy when she saw her little sister getting married, but she did it because she had to be professional and complete the ceremony, "A… And by the will of the Titan, I declare both of you as Soul-bonded." She said and finally started to cry like the rest of the guests "You… You can now seal the spell!" another big sob and she walked to the group to get the new matrimony some space while crying. The sea of sobs quickly become a loud group of cheers and claps as both wives get into each other arms and seal their matrimony with one big and full of love kiss. Behind them, the tree had fully growth back to its old glory, and it even looked bigger and stronger than before, a physical proof of their undying love.
Two weeks later.
Camila got out of bed as soon as her alarm clock rang, stretching to turn it off because while they slept she and her wife had changed places, she was still surprised by how much Eda liked to hug her when she slept, what a surprise coming from someone who for almost two months told their daughter that she didn't knew what hugs were. Convincing Eda to trade the nest for a real bed had been difficult at first, but they managed to do it once she was promised she could keep it in the attic. After getting up, the woman went through her daily routine, taking a bath, brushing her teeth, fixing her hair in a small bun and before leaving the room, giving her still sleeping wife a sweet kiss to which she would react with a goofy smile before snoring.
Coming down the stairs, Camila gave some pets to the still-asleep King of demons who was resting in his favorite spot in the room, the demon making a small movement of pleasure before rolling back into a little furball. "Morning," She said to Lilith, who was already reviewing some papers in the living room, it was more out of courtesy than anything, she was still angry with her for cursing her wife and kidnapping her daughter, and it would take a lot to forgive all that.
Before Lilith could even reply the woman stepped through the portal back to the human world and closed the door almost with a slam. On the other side she come out to her kitchen, where Luz was already preparing a big breakfast. "Buenos dias Mami!" She said smile as warm as the summer sun.
"Buenos dias mija." Camila responded, and then went over to give a little kiss to her daughter on the cheek. The night before Luz had brought her friends to have what she called a "Totally Awesome Human Slumber Party ", apparently they had stayed all night awake in the living room watching all kinds of movies on the tv, because in the living room were Willow, Gus and Amity still sleeping and surrounded by bags of junk food. The only reason why Luz was not like them was because she was almost a source of infinite energy when she was happy.
They chatted for a while over breakfast, but when the older woman's hand clock alarm went off she knew she had to go to work now, one of the downsides of being a nurse. Before leaving the front door, Camila picked up a pair of golden earrings almost identical to the ones she had before, putting them on and thus activating the illusion spell that turned her ears round and her brown eyes, putting on her red glasses, now she was ready to start your day.
"Hey Camila, nice earrings, are they new?" One of her coworkers asked her during lunch break.
"Yes, my wife gave them to me." She answered with a big smile, not hiding anything about her relationship except that both were witches. Family is the most important thing for Camila Noceda, and she could not love her family more.
"Emperor Belos, my liege" Kikimora entered the throne room, Belos himself was consuming the remaining life of a palisman as she waited for his permission to continue talking. The emperor raised a had as indication to continue. "He is here".
"Let it in." The emperor ordered as he dropped the lifeless wooden casing.
Kikimora bowed as she walked away backwards, then a tall man in an elegant deep purple and a match top hat entered the throne room, "I'm sorry it took me so long to come here, my emperor, but as you know things in the Healing Coven have been a bit chaotic since this "Healer of Bonesborough" began to interfere in our private affairs". The man said, in a tone so calm, dismal and condescending that it almost matched that of the emperor himself.
"That matter actually has to do with why I have personally called you here, Naga Facilier." The emperor rose, his immense figure obscuring that of the almost so tall man that didn't even step back. "My spies inform me that the woman who was your wife has probably reappeared on the isles and now works with The Owl Lady, but most importantly, we have confirmation that the daughter she stole from you is back".
He stayed in silence for a second, His condescending smile turned into a frown for a moment, before turning back into a mocking grin. "My my my… So she is back and bring with her what was mine, she's not as smart as she thinks herself then," He waved his cane, and it transformed into a gigantic two-headed serpent, one at each end of its body, "Go, search my daughter and bring her back to me, I don't care about her mother anymore, but she could still be of use to the Facilier family".
The snake let out a loud hiss from both heads, then began to crawl to one of the palace windows, disappearing from their sight. "I thank you from my heart for the information my liege, the Facilier clan will be more than happy to send you a much bigger and juicier shipment this month." The man bowed, while the features of his face twisted into a large, pleased smile.
The emperor let out a satisfied laugh, before returning to his throne. "You can leave now, The Titan is always pleased to help his faithful, after all, the family is the most important thing".
