Chapter 6

The three prospective head teachers had been brought into the school office where they were all sat on the sofas. A decision had been made by the teachers, pupils, governors and local authority. Sitting at the head teachers desk was Andrew, along with Laura the LA board member and head of the trust Mr Willow.

"Thankyou for all attending today" Andrew smiled at the three of them.

"It has been brilliant to see all your ideas for this place, and we really wish we could take you all on" Mr Willow added.

Laura smiled at them as he finished "We have only got two vacancies here at Waterloo road, however I'm very happy to say that all three of you will leave here today with a job offer, as the academy trust is looking for an area lead and we feel a teacher of high standard needs to be in that position"

At that moment the three of them smiled, more so Rachel knowing she could move into her house tomorrow admittedly with a sleeping bag, chair and kettle. But with a job that would start on Monday.

"So the headteacher that has been chosen is Rachel, congratulations" Laura smiled.

Rachel stood up and shook her hand "thankyou so much, I definitely look forward to working with you" she said shaking Michael's hand and then smiling at Andrew as she shook his. She made her way back and sat down.

"Eddie we would like you to be second in command as deputy and head of maths" Mr Willow added.

Eddie was frozen to the spot. He looked at Rachel then at Mr Willow and stood up. As he looked over at Rachel one more time she gave a brief single nod as an approval and Eddie followed Rachel's actions.

"Michael we would like you to be our new academic lead" Mr Willow added

"Of course I would love to be" Michael smiled.

After sharing a few conversations, they each made their excuses and began to leave the building. As they walked out onto the school quad area Eddie called after Rachel making her spin around on the spot and stop. She sighed openly as she saw Eddie coming towards.

He was out of breath after running the short distance "sorry not as fit as I used to be"

Rachel let out a little smirk "you soon will be with the running around for me"

"A-team back together again" Eddie smiled looking at her.

Rachel was drawn into his eyes but she looked away and stepped back quickly. "Professional relationship, I'm married now" Rachel lied

"That's fine with me" Eddie held his hands up "but we still need to work together, you can't push me away for ever"

"No but I can until Monday, as Ive got a busy weekend, so see you Monday, 7:30am sharp" Rachel said turning on her heel and making her way to the car leaving Eddie standing there.

Rachel drove back to Kim and Andrews for the last night at there's. As Rachel entered the house, she was met with Kim congratulating her. Rachel smiled.

"I can't believe I actually did it"

"We both knew you would do it" Kim smiled "boss" she added at the end.

Rachel chuckled "not until Monday, your alright, anyway your still my best friend at work"

"I bet it was awkward with Eddie today, I'm so sorry I didn't know"

"Ah don't worry, I've made him believe I'm married, but hasn't clocked my surname yet, so we will see"

"Yeah, just say your Ms like we do"

"That's true, I just don't want him hitting on me, I don't need that right now"

"No I know and I get that"

"It's going to be weird tomorrow night" Rachel said following Kim to the lounge

"I'm always at the end of the phone you know that"

"I know and I thank you for that and all you've done for me over the past few weeks"

"It's what friends do" Kim smiled.
