"Mister H."
Hanekoma looked up at the fellow Angel. She had turned down her form so she looked human. Her black hair hung gorgeously to her waist, framing her angled face beautifully. She also preferred Dragon Couture, like Joshua. She dressed in a light orange long-sleeved turtleneck and white slacks, her wings folded behind her like a white shawl or cape. Her eyes met the barista's, and he instantly knew she wasn't just here to help her old Partner.
"J is in trouble again isn't he."
Sitting in a chair that was up against the couch, the girl shook her head
"His punishment has been dealt for the atrocity that was The Long Game. They're satisfied for now. But they did send me to warn him...that next time he pulls a stunt like that...or breaks more than the little rules again, he will ascend. Shibuya or no Shibuya."
"You've been sent to keep an eye on him." Hanekoma said, sipping his coffee.
Haineko flipped her hair "Well, yes. I wasn't about to let Tonka rub it in this prissy bastard's face that he was essentially on Probation. You know how he loves seeing Yoshi miserable!"
Sanae snorted "The entire Higher Plane likes seeing J miserable, kiddo. You know very well that half the things in that Courtroom were unnecessary. Several of them were disproportionate to his crimes, even to mine, especially the torching of his throat. "
"That was just cruel. Khalis had no right to do that to him just to make a point. I was afraid..." she stroked the ash-blond locks fondly "Afraid he'd actually burn off his vocal cords. To think of Yoshi being without his snark is...terrifying."
Hanekoma chuckled softly. "He remembers you, Haineko. He might have been unable to connect with what sparked between you two, but J still remembers every detail of his eighth week."
The raven-haired girl threw a smirk at him, "I would hope so, Mister H. He was a real smartass that week. I matched him snark for snark. I even managed to strike him speechless a few times! He'd remember that...and he'd remember me."
Hanekoma smiled in memory "He definitely had a note to his Song and a spring to his step I didn't think was even possible. For the first time, he actually cared about his partner. Actually cared. "
The angel hung her head "I hate having to return to him like this though, Mister H. I show up just to tell him that I'm here to make sure he behaves, and if he breaks even one major rule, I'm going to drag him off to ascend? Not much of a happy reunion."
"But a reunion nonetheless. You know he'll be happy to see that you got to ascend, rather than the alternative. Now that his Soul's been repaired, he can actually be genuinely moved by this, you know?"
The barista frowned as the black haired beauty didn't return his chuckle. "Haineko?"
"He should feel this." She said sadly, rubbing his back gently "It should wake him up. He should feel it." She tugged on the blond locks, but still, Joshua didn't react. "He should definitely feel that! He was always so whiney about his hair being messed with, always complained about his 'sensitive scalp'. The slightest pull always got the most pathetic girly yelp out of him!"
Sanae averted his eyes "So there were aftereffects. But only when he;s unconscious. Interesting. I suspected...but he was such a light sleeper I found my results to be inconclusive."
The eyes of the feisty parole angel glowed at him for a split second "Hanekoma...does this have to do with that bastard shithead Apollo? Is this due to one of his dormant psychs?!"
"No, and yes. Apollo is the sole reason, but the psych wasn't dormant. It was forbidden."
"The Battle for Supremacy! His nerve system..."
"Bingo. But only when the rest of his powers are dormant it seems. Funny, I did wonder why I could never pinch him awake after he became Composer..."
"That bastard." Her wings opened in fury, "I saw that battle, you know, thanks to your Mind's Eye. It hurt like hell to see that monster torment him like that, hearing this prissy, proud prick shriek as sounds became too loud for him to even comprehend, and his sense of touch was just racked up to infinity...even a small poke was agonizing! Mister H, If I'd have survived Spoolhead-"
"-You know you couldn't have done anything. The Battle was for Josh and Josh alone to win or lose. You would have had to just sit back and watch. If you engaged, you would have become a combatant as well, and he would have finished off Apollo, and would then be forced to battle against his Partner. The one partner he gave a damn about. He would have let you slaughter him, because there was no way in hell he'd have raised a finger against you. You know that, kiddo."
"I still could have done something against that Bastard, and maybe if I had...he wouldn't have become a damn recluse, unable to feel the deepest bond he could ever hope to feel!"
She stopped her outbursts as the form she stroked began to move at last. With her best smirk in place, she flipped her hair and snided right as his amethyst eyes opened and began to focus
"It's about time you woke up, Yoshi!"
