ANOTHER ONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Because reasons.

Opening my eye's I glanced at the clock in my drawer, 11 pm huh... well time to get ready for the day.

Yesterday was quite hectic after I Left the Judgement office and explored the city a bit more I decided to go back home for some food, It seems old 'me' really likes frozen food like pizzas.

I was making one on the microwave just about now while wearing a white shirt with a grey spiral in the middle that extended through the whole shirt, and grey shorts along with my plastic sandals.

Checking my 'new' flip-phone I went through the numbers and only had that of a scientist... no parents or anything, maybe 'he' was an orphan? not that it matters really, fewer problems for me.

Weirdly enough the name on the number of the scientist was only Dr. R.

I heard a knock on the door and I was instantly wary, if the info on my phone was anything to go by then 'I' was quite the loner... so who could it be? I extended the reach of my 'Sky Eye'.

Yes, I'm calling my ability to read wind currents that, just for the rule of cool.

A somewhat fat man was behind the door, he seems to be wearing a coat of some kind... maybe the scientist? "better check it out I guess..." I got up from the chair I was sitting on and went to the front door.

When I opened it the man mumbled to himself something about 'free days' no idea what was that about "H-hi Sora-kun!" and I already want to punch him in the face.

"need anything?" I asked with a bored tone which made him blink.

"R wants to do some quick tes-" I raised my right hand and he stopped talking, right better get this over with now.

"Yeah about that... I no longer want to do it" he froze for a moment then smiled awkwardly, he then got really nervous when he saw I wasn't kidding.

He gave me a desperate look "but you can't just do that!, R needs to at least help with the investigation of esper powers, even if you are just used for that it-" I raised an eyebrow while tunning out everything else he was saying.

So I was just used because of orders rather than interest? I guess that's okay "uh? excuse me for a minute Sora-kun" he suddenly said when his phone starting ringing.

He went towards the stairs and I felt him going down with my Sky Eye, he really doesn't want me to listen... sadly sound travels through the wind so if I concentrate on the vibrations his voice makes...

"The Level 0 are ready? we really have enough in just a week?... yeah I'll be there he didn't want to do it anymore anyway" It was a short conversation but that told me enough to feel like something was up.

I'm apparently a level 4 but I was less important than some level 0 who by the name should have no powers at all, while it seems fishy it isn't my problem to deal with anyway... I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious though.

He came back and waved his hand apologetically "sorry Sora-kun something came up, and I have to leave we will discuss this more thoroughly later"I nodded, and he started walking away.

My curiosity got the better of me and went back to use the vibrations of his voice to see if he could give me anything useful "have to go all the way back to district 19, what a drag..." I heard the ding of my microwave and glanced behind me.

First the pizza then District 19, not like I have anything better to do.

It can't be that bad... well I may have just jinxed myself.

I changed my plastic sandals for running shoes, also Pepperoni pizza is a gift from the gods and no one can say otherwise.

Right now I was taking one of the many trains Academy City has, it took me around five minutes to finish my food so the scientist must be a decent distance away from me.

And it was about a 20-minute ride from the train to District 19, when the moment I arrived the difference was like night and day... this place looks worse than expected not that it was ugly but considering how everything else looked clean and futuristic this place was more down to earth and dirty.

Also, not a lot of people left the train in here, I counted less than 20 with my Sky Eye when the average number of people that left in any other District was at least double that, this is giving me a good idea of the kind of place I have steeped in.

I have only myself to blame for this, my paranoia took the better of me and I expanded my Sky Eye to 50 meters from me just to be sure no one was about to try to pull a fast one on me.

The streets didn't give me anything to go by, but there was a lack of activity from everyone not a lot of stores opened and like I said before while it wasn't that bad compared to the rest of the city it was just off-putting.

So I kept walking around and even used a burst of air to reach the rooftops when I started to get bored but still literally nothing 'fishy' was happening..., well I did come here without a lot of prior knowledge of what I was looking for.

No use bothering myself then, I didn't sleep very well last night anyway so taking a nap would be nice and I guess I'll try to see if my Sky Eye can be kept up even when I'm sleeping in its full range

I laid on my back while looking at the azure sky with a small smile and closed my eyes while putting the Sky Eye on max range.

When I opened my eyes again the sky was now orange along with dreaming of nothing but the area around me, meaning that my Sky Eye can interrupt my dreams while I'm sleeping so that the information can reach my brain without problems.

This brings me to the actual reason I woke up.

That's when the shape of the scientist that came looking for me came into play again, but it was just lying there on the ground while someone was standing over him, he was also not moving considering the distance in my area he should be around 80 meters away from me.

Good thing the building I'm on is not stupidly tall.

Jumping down towards that direction I used a small gust of wind before falling to make my fall bearable and started jogging towards them when I reached the place the other man was already on the move.

I ignored the body of the scientist and followed the shape of the man with a small frown on my face, wonder what is happening... under normal circumstances I would ignore it but I'm even more curious why would anyone need to kill the scientist.

Damn my endless curiosity.

I kept following him for about two minutes without being seen and he still has yet to go anywhere, it was weird because it almost looked like he was guiding someone even though he was alone...

Ah, so that's how it is.

Time to stop hiding I guess "you know I was there" Walking a little bit faster I was behind him the distance was about 6 meters, He took a quick look around the deserted park we arrived at, he just wanted an area where no one would bother us.

He turned around and I got a good look at his clothes a deep-blue leather coat that reached up to his mouth and was zipped hiding it from view along with tan skin and silver spiky hair, pants of the same color of his coat, and black boots.

Well, he is a sight for sore eyes "what's so important that you would kill a scientist just like that? was whatever he was looking for so important?" I asked without expecting an answer.

His eyes stared at me, and I tensed slightly his gaze was cold and detached "he served his purpose, we wouldn't want any loose ends so I took care of him" was the only thing he said.

"and that was?" I knew it involved a bunch of Level 0 so whatever it was couldn't have been that mind-boggling obviously that was probably because I was missing the full picture.

He stared at me for a moment then raised his left hand and threw a fireball at me "really?" I created a vacuum of air in front of me and the fire was snuffed out.

He wasn't there anymore, but my Sky Eye wouldn't lose him he was at my left, and judging by what he has on his right hand another fireball ready "this sure is a bad matchup for you" I commented without turning and creating another vacuum to block the next fireball.

Sensing his fire wasn't that hard the air around it moves differently usually upwards... wait something was at his feet it's a hole?.

Fire came from under me and I threw my right hand forward to throw a wind canon and let the force push me back, I dropped on a roll and looked up to see a hot hole on the ground next to the guy... his flames are dangerous enough to do something like that so his Level must be high no less than 4 really.

His eyes narrowed and he did something else reached inside his coat and pulled out a desert eagle of all things, how did he even get his hands on one of those?.

Now with a weapon in his right hand, he threw another fireball with his free arm, and with my Sky Eye I could see him taking aim with his gun, he was expecting me to try and defend myself with another vacuum of air and shoot the bullets through the fire.

Thinking fast I jumped up while creating a strong gust of wind with my feet propelling me further upwards at just about the same time I heard three loud bangs, after a moment he looked in surprise up.

How did he manage to know where I was? hell, how did he know I was following him!?.

He quickly got over it and aimed his gun at me, thinking quickly I up my arms in front of me palms facing forwards, if I use the wind to push constantly around me I should be able to deflect the bullets so they go around me.

It wasn't flawless but I wasn't sure I could actually dodge gunfire without moving before he shoots, so my best chance was to somehow defend against the bullets this was what I came up with.

He pretty much emptied the clip and by the whistling, I heard stupidly close to me the bullets were barely missing me, but that was fine... he was reloading now.

I'm about four meters high and six meters away from him, he obviously has experience with the desert eagle and he was shooting the damn thing with one hand so his physical strength was above average.

So I created a strong constant current of wind on my back and threw myself at him like a torpedo at him, the force was a pain to bear with on my body since it was sudden and with only speed in mind with no regard for my safety.

He was surprised by my action and quickly discarded his gun and threw both hands forwards and threw a huge blast of fire at me, I had already stopped the impulse of win I was giving me my speed at this point was enough.

I created a vacuum of air in front of me and snuffed the flames out, when I was right in front of him the vacuum was reaching his hands and stopped him from producing flames, our eyes met, and his widened.

My right arm was reared back and he did the same sadly I have a trick up my sleeve, another strong current of wind was created on my elbow to push it forward faster.

My fist impacted his face and the momentum carrying me along with the accelerated fist made the man fly through the air and fall on his face, not that I was any better.

I didn't have a landing strategy so when I fell it meant me rolling through the ground like I was trying to become a wheel, I stopped after four spins and stayed on my ass while taking deep breaths, that whole thing took a lot more out of me than expected.

Looking at my downed opponent that was slowly getting up he obviously took a big blow there so... wait is that a fl-

I couldn't hear or see after that, it was hard to bear with one of the damn things and I was also caught off-guard when I finally recovered from the flash-bang he was already gone, I used my Sky Eye but his shape wasn't around anymore.

He is probably hiding in an enclosed space and while I would like to go look for him... I'm not willing to risk it, I looked around once more and found two things where he last was the desert eagle that he must have dropped when I hit him.

And a flash drive, well I at least got something from my efforts.

I was drinking a glass of water while checking the contents of the flash drive in my laptop... luckily it wasn't codified, they probably didn't have time to do so there were two folders in there.

One was a map of the city with about 20 locations, a fourth of them in District 19, and at least 12 seem to have an X over them like they were failures of some kind all around the city.

The second... now that's when it got good, it was labeled survivors and it came with three people up until now each with an archive with their name on them, O'hearn Kriz, Diamond Kula and Aogami Pierce.

I opened the folder of Kriz and took a good look at it while adjusting myself on my seat, the file started with a photo of a familiar face it was the guy I fought today with a blank expression on his face.

Well he looks happy, a quick read showed me he was apparently a Level 1 and that was instantly worrisome, he certainly didn't appear like one when he was trying to kill me.

I stared at the screen for a moment and held the table to keep myself from swaying, I'm not a good person but this...

If I remember correctly Gu was a ritual where you put various poisonous insects in an enclosed space and waited for them to kill each other, the last one standing would have a great concentration of toxins and would be used to create the poison, they were doing this with Espers along with injecting them with some kind of drug to forcefully make them reach a higher level not only that but aside from the obvious mental damage, the kids get from just experiencing a Gu the drug seemed to damage the physical aspects of the brain to the point it literally made them forget how to express themselves.

What kind of fucked up shit is this?.

And that dead scientist... did he found out something he shouldn't have? or did he made a mistake and they decided to kill him?.

No wait there have only been three survivors right now, and the map had 12 failed experiments right now... and the rest are being held on District 19... right now.

How many!?.

I'm not a hero, but there is no way I can just turn around after seeing that, right now another Five experiments are being held for what the dead scientist said most of them are being held with Level 0 and nothing else but that might not be true.

If I leave no- my Sky Eye caught something just outside my door, three people pointing long weapons, most likely automatic weapons.

SHIT!, in the heat of the moment I stopped paying attention!.

I grabbed the flash drive and threw myself to the ground, I barely deflected the bullets from one source it would kill me if I tried to do that here with more automatic fire, not only that but I would be a sitting duck, they would only need to throw a grenade when I'm busy deflecting their gunfire.

When I fell to the ground, they opened fire.

It was about ten seconds of constant gunfire after that they kicked down my door from my position on the ground I threw a wind canon with my right arm and saw one of them being pushed back and off the railing... then the other two simple left packed their things and dashed away from here.

What?.

I went out of my apartment and looked down at the one I probably killed, my eyes widened slightly at the clothes he was wearing, the same kind that the Anti-Skill guy was wearing when I was caught by Judgement.

The other two probably were wearing the same and are calling it in to make me a wanted man, they wouldn't do something like this if they weren't capable of making it happen.

Well shit, I went back inside and looked for a backpack I'm going to need extra clothes and the laptop to read more documents on the flash drive, that took me about ten minutes.

But people were already outside and wondering what was happening, heard some of them calling on their phones too I took one look at my door one more time and put the backpack on my well back.

I took a deep breath and started running, I heard the surprised sounds of the people around me my feet touched the metal railing and used it to jump while propelling myself forwards with a gust of wind reaching the rooftop of the next building.

Maybe letting myself get caught would have been the best plan, but if they have anyone of Anti-Skill under their thumb then I'd die in a day at best.

I kept jumping from rooftop to rooftop, even this city should have some kind of 'slums' where the rougher population is around, District 19 seems to be a nice choice but it's too far away, so I'll have to find one that is closer.

If I can't do that then I'll have to stay between the alleys and hope to god they don't catch me, it would only get worse for me...

Arriving between what looked like a maze of alleyways or that's what it looked like above, It looks like a nice place to go into hiding and easy to lose people that are chasing you.

Not only that but I have been using my power for the entire day and it's starting to wear me out... guess even super-powers have a limit, I was about to jump down when a small shape appeared behind me, my Sky Eye sure is useful.

This shape also seems familiar, I turned around slowl-

"This is Judgement!, hands in the air!" oh you have to be fucking with me right now, does she even sleep or am I simply unlucky!?

I raised my hands slowly, more because I was annoyed by this situation "well, well, well... you have caught the villain Shirai, what are you going to do now?" my voice was laced with sarcasm.

She probably was gritting her teeth "don't address me so casually Murder, I knew you were trouble the moment I laid my eye on you" she stated with absolute conviction, she seems to be a teleporter if I remember correctly.

And a trainee if my memory works right, I could see two options for me right now... we fight and I beat up a literal child or I tell her what really is going on and scare her away with the information.

Well, I better pick a choice quickly, I don't want to deal with reinforcements "and where do we go from here?" I asked her, hopefully she doesn't make this too difficult

POV: Shirai Kuroko

I hated it.

After the murderer left the building she made her displeasure known, Konori-senpai said it was simply out of our reach at this point, he was already labeled innocent.

And I hated it, it took me no time to look into his records a Level 4 esper with the ability of 'Sky High' a variant of aerokinesis that had the distinctive ability to generate their own 'air', which means that even in the vacuum of space he could still use his abilities without problem and breath as if he were on earth, a dangerous power all around.

But aside from that, his records are mostly clean with minor violent altercations with other espers that seemed to start the fights, in other words he was innocent, granted Judgement didn't have access to every record but about enough to get a general idea of the suspects.

And Takaku Sora was innocent.

I glared at his picture, his eyes had bags that always seem to be there giving him a tired expression his lightly tanned skin made said bags more prominent, his short-brown hair was as normal as it gets, his more striking feature was the dark-grey eyes that just seemed out of place.

And that would have been it, but he made a mistake and was caught in the act the Murderer showed his true colors, the moment I heard it from Konori-senpai, who told me to keep an eye out for him but not engage him at any cost.

But I couldn't just stay in place, so I went out to look for him and in a stroke of luck I found him when he was running away, meaning he should be tired...

And he was acting casual about the meeting, I had him on the ropes with iron nails bought from a store that I always carried with me just in case.

So why was he so carefree? "we go to Anti-Skill and get you arrested scum bag" I snapped at him, he chuckled lightly and slowly turned around catching me off-guard.

"I told you to-!" He interrupted me with a small smile, it almost seemed sad for a moment but I ignored it for now.

"do you have any idea what's happening? or did you just come here for righteous vengeance?" his voice was sarcastic and almost annoying, but there was genuine curiosity in there.

Why is he acting like this!? "are you so twisted you have no idea what you did was wrong?" when I said that his smile disappeared, now there was just a man who saw too much.

"well then..." I thought I was ready... turns out he was just playing the fool, the distance between us was crossed in a second and I didn't have the time to make the proper calculations for my teleportation.

I felt him grab my head and smash it on the ground, I'm sure he could have knocked me out but for some reason, he held back... that didn't mean I could get up "Stay on there for a minute" from my blurry view I could see him pulling out a laptop and inserting a flash drive, after about a minute he pulled out the flash drive and put back the Laptop on his backpack.

He threw the flash drive on my chest "if you really want to see how dark this place is take a peek at it, careful though..." he turned around and started walking away.

Right on the edge of the roof, he glanced back at me with narrowed eyes "if you stare too long it might start staring back" he jumped off letting me with more questions than answers.

So... what do yah think?, is it good is it bad?.

Probably both somehow...
