Hey everyone, I've decided to try starting another story while I'm full of ideas to try and get back into typing more often
This one in particular is going to be my first try at a sort of triple crossover, DC x Marvel x The Gamer, and Abyssal-Samurai-Nioh has been helping out with this idea for some time
I'm hoping you all enjoy this story as much as we did, we both put a lot of time and love into it
Warning, there will be character death, so if you've got a favorite villain or hero you're worried might not make it, then either proceed with caution or don't read this altogether
This will also be a futa harem fanfic, with some genderbending, as my other stories have been so far
Disclaimer: I don't own DC, Marvel, or The Gamer

In an unknown building in Gotham City
/
A teenager groaned silently as she slowly regained consciousness, trying to move, only to find that her waist had been secured to something with chains, secured by a rather strong looking padlock. What she'd been secured to was a large amount of barrels with various explosive or flammable warning signs on them, her arms were free but the chains were wrapped around her waist tightly so she couldn't escape. 'How did I get here?.. Who the hell put me here?'
She remembered walking down an alleyway she used as a shortcut home after she's gotten done with her after school jog, everything had been going fine until she reached the alley's exit, that was when a white van had come out and she'd been pulled into it. She'd been kicking and fighting for a few minutes before she'd finally been knocked out with a crowbar to the head, but the details were fuzzy after that, all she could remember was laughing, and a god awful smile so wide it seemed almost inhuman...
'The Joker...'
Things were becoming clearer now, she could remember him smiling over her as he knocked her out cold, and smiling whenever she'd ever so briefly regained consciousness for a few seconds, but now there was nobody to be found. 'I'm not even worth guarding, of course, I'm just bait for the Batman, nothing more...' She heard some sort of noise in her ears and jumped a bit, as though she was getting an alert in an rpg. 'W-what in the hell was that?!' When she looked around, she saw something hovering over her, something that didn't make sense at all.
Ryuko Nakamura
Level 1 - 0/100
'...He hit me too hard on the head, and now I'm going insane, fucking great...' She jumped again when she saw text in front of her, but this had an odd little scroll bar beside it. Deciding to at least see what it said, she carefully pressed her finger against the scrolling bar and began to move it up and down, seeing that it would indeed move at her touch.
Hello Ryuko Nakamura, as you have noticed, you are now seeing a level icon above your head, as well as your name. Don't be alarmed, you are not going insane, instead you have been chosen to hold a power with great potential within you. You have been chosen as the host of the Gamer ability, and as you've read through the manga, you are already aware of it's potential power as you level up more. At the moment you are in an abandoned building that Joker has taken over for the sole purpose of kidnapping you and drawing out Batman for another one of his schemes to try and kill him, so escaping will be your first tutorial quest.

Y/N
The N button, which most likely stood for No, was greyed out, and Ryuko couldn't click on it, not that she even planned to. With renewed spirit and confidence, she hit Y and reached into her spiky hair, pulling out two bobby pins and beginning to work on the padlock that was keeping the chains in place. A minute later, the chains clattered to the floor and she was free, but she noticed something out of the corner of her eye, an inventory button. 'Hmm... I suppose this chain might come in handy later..'
She bundled up the chain and tried imagining putting it into an inventory slot, and when she next looked it was completely gone from her hand. 'Ok, that's kinda cool.. Now I need to leave, I should probably find out who else is here though.' The teen quietly made her way out of the room she'd been held in and up a flight of stairs, looking around carefully with every step she took. She wasn't ready to leave someone else to the Joker if she could help it, but she wasn't a superhero, she couldn't afford to run through the building like she owned the place.
Instead she stuck to the shadows, right now it seemed that she was on the very first floor, not many guards were around, but once she was on the second floor she could hear someone breathing hard, as though they were panicking. When she got to the person though, she was shocked beyond all belief as to who it was. She quietly opened the door to the cage the person had been put in and kneeled down, staring at them with a shocked look in her eyes. "I-izuna? Is that you?.."
Izuna Machiro was a 16 year old student at Gotham High School, a sophmore just like Ryuko. Her hair was a bright blonde color and spiky like Ryuko's, though nowhere near as wild and untamed. She stood at 5' 7" with a runner's build, perfect for running track at school, she also didn't have that much in the way of curves besides a nice pair of legs from her time on the track team. She was Ryuko's only friend in school, and the girl didn't mind that at all, she was Izuna's only friend as well, but there was a big problem.
Izuna was supposed to be a guy instead of a girl.
She suddenly bolted out of the cage and hugged Ryuko tightly, whimpering quietly into her chest as her golden eyes began to fill with tears. "R-ryuko, I-I thought I was gonna die, or get raped, t-thank you for finding me.." Ryuko just held her friend tightly, pushing the rage she was feeling down for now in order to stay calm and rational. "Sshhhh, it's ok Izuna, I'm here. I got kidnapped after my after school jog, but why are you here?.."
Izuna's hands clenched tightly, bunching up the back of Ryuko's jacket. "M-my parents, they gave me up to Joker to get in his 'good graces' and give him a guinea pig for his new, weird gas, and they sold you out too.." Ryuko couldn't stop herself from gritting her teeth and clenching her fists behind Izuna, they'd met for the first time in Robinson Park around four years ago because she, or rather, he, had left home for a bit to get away from his foster parents, who both were running a small up-and-coming mafia family. Unfortunately, the police could never pin anything on them, and so they continued to walk free, not a single record of arrest on their rap sheets.
"We'll sort that out later Izuna, for now we need to get out of here, can you walk?" Izuna nodded softly and stood up, she looked nervous, but better than she had a few minutes ago. "Good, I'm gonna need you to stay glued to my ass, is there any way we could use to get out?" Ryuko stood up and Izuna inched a little closer to her. "The fire escape, we could use the fire escape to get away, we'd never make it out the front door without getting shot in the back."
"Fire escape it is then.." As quietly as possible, the two friends began to sneak their way through the building, trying to avoid the guards altogether, and they were doing fine until they got to the stairs leading to the third floor, and heard Joker's yell of outrage in the basement. "Oh no, he found out... Run!" Ryuko bolted up the stairs with Izuna in tow, slamming into the door hard enough to send it flying off it's hinges and slamming into one of Joker's goons, who ended up dropping his gun.
As the teens ran for their lives Ryuko scooped up the gun just to be safe. "Ryuko, didn't you tell me that you've never shot a gun before?!" "Doesn't matter, just keep running!" Ryuko had to slam through another goon to get to the next set of stairs, but once they got to the fourth floor all hell broke loose. Most of Joker's men were up on this floor drinking and playing poker, so when Ryuko and Izuna burst through the door running they all began to panic. Most would've reached for their guns, had Ryuko not begun to fire wildly around the room and make them duck for cover.
Ryuko actually managed to hit a few people and grabbed another pistol off of the floor, but as she ushered Izuna into the stairwell leading to the roof ahead of her, she was shot in the knee by one of the men who'd managed to get his gun. She yelled out in pain, but managed to limp her way up the stairs with her friend. "Izuna, you need to head down the fire escape first, I'll hold off Joker's men and follow you once you're down."
Izuna shook her head rapidly. "No! I'm not gonna leave you to die!" Ryuko smiled and limped over to her friend, hugging her tightly. "Hey, neither of us are gonna make it out of this alive if a few of Joker's men aren't dealt with first. I'm not gonna die Izuna, we'll get out of this together and head over to my house, understand?" The blonde girl seemed to have an internal debate for a few seconds, before finally relenting as she heard voices coming up the stairs. "F-fine, but you'd better come back, or I'll kill you!"
She then ran to the fire escape as Ryuko took cover behind an air conditioning unit on the roof just as Joker's men stormed up the stairs. 'Don't hesitate, it's you or them..' Ryuko took a deep breath, and the second she saw the head of one of the goons she pulled the trigger. The man fell to the floor with a bloody hole in his head, followed by three more with shots to the neck and chest. Every time she saw someone come out of that stairwell she fired once or twice and listened to them fall back down the stairs or fall on top of the small pile of bodies already on the roof.
She paled visibly however when men with automatic weapons came onto the roof, and she slowly began backing up to the edge just near the fire escape. Then she saw him, with his pale skin, green hair, purple suit, and that damnable smile, the Joker himself had come to play, and he even had Harley Quinn in tow. "Seems you've made quite a mess here kiddo, that's ten men I need to replace, ha! How about you come back from the edge of the roof, and you can tell good ole Uncle J all about how your first kill felt, hm~?"
Ryuko quickly aimed her pistol at his head, she couldn't possibly miss at this distance, nor did she plan to. "My only regret is that you weren't the one I killed first." Then she pulled the trigger, knowing it would bring an end to Gotham's clown prince of crime and his reign of terror once and for all.
*click*
The teen went cold as she heard that, the telltale sound of a pistol out of ammo, and she looked at the slide and noticed it was cocked back now and stuck in that position, the chamber completely empty. Then she heard the laughter, a sound she was quickly beginning to hate. "Hehehehe, HAHAHAHA~! Oh come on, you can't make this stuff up! The one bullet that would've counted, and you just ran out~!" Ryuko just pocketed the pistol and backed one step closer to the edge of the roof. "And yet, some teenager came closer to killing you than the Batman ever did."
That stopped the laughter almost immediately, and Ryuko quickly jumped off the roof before she could see whether Joker had stopped smiling or not. Luckily for her, she'd looked down beforehand, and was able to throw herself off of the roof and into a large pile of garbage bags, before getting up and starting to run just as Izuna had finished sneaking her way down the fire escape. "Oh my god, Ryuko!" "I'm fine, but I think I pissed him off, fucking run!"
Izuna helped Ryuko run as best as she could, though the second they were out into the street they were nearly hit by a police car of all things. "Hey, you kids oughta be more careful!" This would be Harvey Bullock, who had just arrived to investigate the reports of gunfire nearby. Almost immediately after nearly hitting Ryuko and Izuna, he noticed that one was holding up the other, who was limping and leaving a trail of blood leading to an abandoned building. "What the?.."
Then he noticed the armed gunmen running out of the building, and gestured to the back of his patrol car. "Get in!" They didn't have to be told twice, quickly diving into the back of the car just as the gunmen began to shoot at them. Bullock then hit the gas, quickly driving away and reporting this to the G.C.P.D. While he was doing this, Ryuko and Izuna were panting due to panic and exhaustion, since now the adrenaline was fading, and Ryuko was also beginning to feel the pain of her wound.
As she gritted her teeth to keep from groaning in pain, she saw more text pop up in front of her, though judging by Harvey's and Izuna's unchanging expressions, she assumed that neither of them could see it

'So many pop-ups.. I'll sort shit out later, right now I need to act calm.' "Detective Bullock, apologies, we seem to have caused a bit of a mess.." The man chuckled softly and shook his head as he sped towards Gotham City General Hospital. "Kid, you and your friend did something nobody else has, you got away from the Joker without Batman's help, rather than apologizing to me you should count your lucky stars."
Once they arrived Bullock quickly got them out of the back of his cop car and brought them inside, asking for doctors to check them out right away. Ryuko was still bleeding quite a lot from her knee and was getting paler, so doctors prioritized her first, and brought Izuna with them seeing as she began to have a panic attack when she'd been told to wait. Ryuko held Izuna's hand the entire time the doctor's patched her up, giving the girl a smile that told her everything would be fine.
After an hour everything had calmed down, and a doctor came up to Ryuko soon after. "You're a lucky kid, the bullet went straight through so there was nothing to remove, and you seem to be healing at an incredible rate. You'll be stuck in a leg brace for the next week or so, but after that you should be fine. Your knee on the other hand, may not be as fine, considering there was a hole blown straight through it." Ryuko just sighed softly and looked off to the side. "I kinda figured that would be the case.. Am I able to leave?"
The doctor nodded, and Ryuko simply dragged herself out of bed with a pair of crutches, ditching the hospital gown, putting her clothes on, and hobbling her way out to the waiting room where Bullock and Izuna were waiting. "Detective, I'm guessing you wanna ask us about what happened down at G.C.P.D?" "That would be the best place to do it, yes." Ryuko nodded and began making her way to the exit. "Then let's go, I wanna go home and rest as soon as possible, I feel like shit."
Harvey and Izuna just sweatdropped a bit, before following after the injured teen and getting into the squad car. The ride to G.C.P.D didn't take too long, and once they were there Ryuko and Izuna went to a side room to talk to Bullock, and even the Commissioner himself. "Ok you two, I want you to tell us exactly what happened." And so they did, they described every moment of their time in that building in vivid detail, though when Izuna trailed off once she got to the part with the fire escape, Ryuko sighed in an aggravated fashion.
"I managed to kill at least ten of the guys who were chasing after us, but then Joker and Harley walked up onto the roof themselves with a few guys holding automatic weapons.. I had him right where I wanted him, smug and thinking he'd already won, I aimed at him and pulled the trigger but.." Ryuko sighed and pulled the empty pistol out of her jacket pocket. "I'd ran out of bullets just when I needed one the most, if I had just one more bullet, the Joker would be dead right now."
Jim and Bullock stared down at the gun in surprise, and then at Ryuko, they hadn't realized that the gunfire report was the result of her fighting back, they'd just thought she and Izuna were running away. "Kid, are you ok? Killing a person for the first time is never an easy thing." "It was me or them.. I don't feel too good, but I don't regret what I did." Jim nodded in an understanding fashion. "I suppose you're right, if you two had just ran you probably would've been caught. That was some quick thinking, you got your friend the distance she needed, and then made a quick escape. What's your name?"
"Ryuko Nakamura, and this is Izuna Machiro." "Well Ryuko, Machiro, how about I call your parents and we get you two home?" "NO!" The sudden outburst from Izuna scared both Jim and Harvey, but Ryuko had been expecting it and decided to quickly explain. "Um, Izuna's family situation is... Very complicated at the moment, how about you just call my mom and take us both to my place instead?" Jim narrowed his eyes slightly when he heard this, but he relented, and left the room to call Ryuko's mother while Bullock stayed in the room.
"Kid, if it's all the same to you, I think I can speak for both me and Gordon when I say we wish you had that one extra bullet." Ryuko just managed to smile a bit from her seat, but didn't say anything more, seemingly too exhausted to talk anymore. Not too long afterwards, Jim walked back into the room and gestured for Ryuko and Izuna to follow him. "Come on girls, I'll take you home myself, it's time for me to clock out anyway."

Timeskip: 1 hour later

Ryuko was resting in her bed, taking the time to collect her thoughts, when a pop-up filled her vision.

Skills may also have sub-categories that you will be able to upgrade to give you more attacks, abilities, or better control with certain skillsets.
She decided to put 2 points into Stealth and 1 point into Sense. 'No way in hell I'm gonna be focusing on frontal assaults on any of the nutjobs in Gotham if I don't have to, being careful in this city means you're staying alive..' Once she was done with that, she sighed and relaxed in her bed. 'I've got such a cool and useful ability now, but why?... Does whoever gave me this ability want me to.. To help people? Like Batman and Superman?'
Ryuko, like most people, looked up to Batman and Superman, as well as the Justice League as a whole, but Ryuko knew firsthand about the issues they had. They didn't kill, they couldn't afford to get used to doing such a thing with the power they possessed. 'Maybe the world needs a new person on the playing field, one who's willing to get their hands dirty and get shit done..' She glanced around her room, debating what she should do in her head, before her gaze rested on something on her nightstand.
It was a mask, kitsune themed and painted black with red accents on it, there was glass where the eyeholes were that was tinted red, it always gave her bright, almost glowing blue eyes a demonic hue whenever she looked in the mirror when the lights were out. 'The bad guys don't truly fear the heroes, because they know they won't be killed... They need something more dangerous to fear, something worse than even the Dark Knight... And I know exactly what to give them.'
She grabbed the mask off of her nightstand and put it on, walking into her bathroom and turning out the lights to see the red lenses casting a faint bit of light on the rest of the mask, a black fox, demonic in it's appearance, in the moonlight however, it looked truly terrifying. "Yes... This'll work perfectly." That night, something new was created, born with the inspiration of great heroes, molded by the never ending darkness that plagued it's home.
A fox, dressed in black.
