War of the Cybermen
Featuring the Eighth Doctor and Asla
With an elongated wheeze and howl, a TARDIS materialised on Gallifrey. It resembled a normal TARDIS, with its dark grey cylindrical shape and a silver section showing where the door was, and Cardinal Ollistra stepped out of it, hoping that she wasn't too late. She had been caught up in a Dalek battle on the way to Gallifrey and had to do an emergency landing on Earth during the 1930s, but her TARDIS had repaired itself and now she had arrived. She inspected her surroundings carefully, noticing that she was on a clifftop to the west of the Capitol. Even though she was far away from the heart of the Time War, she could still hear the screams of Time Lord soldiers and the war cries of the Daleks as they attacked her home. She turned to her right and shuddered in fear when she saw something that had not been there before. A carving had been made in a nearby clifftop of something she instantly recognised. It was almost as if the carving was commemorative and honoured something which had helped Gallifrey long ago, which made the image all the more terrifying.
The carving was of a Cyberman.
The Doctor and Asla, meanwhile, were in a spot of trouble. The TARDIS had managed to get caught up in the same Dalek battle that Ollistra's TARDIS had been caught up in and, even though the Doctor had activated the shields, the old girl was getting pummelled.
"Are we going to survive this?" Asla cried, over the wail of the alarm that had begun to blare.
"Perhaps. We may have to do an emergency landing to get away from the Daleks that are attacking us." the Doctor replied, activating the materialisation control and sighing with relief as the TARDIS wheezed and howled into a new reality in space and time. Once the TARDIS had successfully materialised, he examined the scanner and half-smiled, half-frowned.
"Well, where are we this time?" she wondered, walking over to his side.
"Earth. More specifically, we're at Mount Rushmore in America. Not sure about the time period though but we'll figure it out by looking at the carvings." he responded, walking towards the doors and flinging them open. She followed him out, shutting the doors behind her.
They stepped out and found themselves in a small forest clearing, with a clear view of the carvings. The Doctor could make out three human carvings and one carving which filled him with dread. Asla noticed the other carving shortly afterwards and looked at the Doctor, hoping that he would have noticed it.
"The Cyber Lord's been here then." she deduced, referring to the carving of the familiar face of the Cyber Lord, "But why would he be in that mountain?"
"Mount Rushmore, Asla, features carvings of Presidents of the United States. If the Cyber Lord is on that mountain, it presumably means that at one point in Earth's history, he was the President of the United States." the Doctor explained, before walking back to the TARDIS.
"Where are you going?"
"We need to get rid of the damage the Cyber Lord has done to the timelines. I can feel Gallifrey's past changing already, never mind Earth's. We need to stop him once and for all."
Onboard the Cyber TARDIS, the Cyber Lord was manipulating the controls on the console and heading towards another world: Skaro. He knew that he could not initiate his plan at a point in history where there were Daleks, so he needed to go back to the very beginning and begin the conversions then.
"Cyber Lord," declared Marie Jones, talking via the scanner screen in the corner of the console room, "end this now. I have given Cardinal Ollistra a warning about you and she is determined to end you."
"My Cyber Empire will be eternal. You will not triumph." he replied, "The Time Lords will not triumph."
"We'll see about that. Thank you for allowing me to initiate a TARDIS linkup with your TARDIS. I now know you're heading for Skaro at an early point in time. Are you planning to convert Davros into a Cyberman?"
The Cyber Lord growled and ended the call between him and Marie.
The Doctor was also in his TARDIS and had received a message from Marie that the Cyber Lord was planning on going to Skaro at an early point in time. He was already aware of an attempt by the Master to alter Skaro's history but if the Cyber Lord managed to convert an influential person such as Davros then the whole of time could be at risk of collapse.
"So are we going to save Skaro then?" Asla wondered, "Save Davros?"
"No, Asla. We're going to destroy the Cyber Lord." the Doctor replied, setting course for Skaro and materialising the TARDIS. He could feel that the TARDIS was damaged by the Dalek battle and knew that it could just about materialise.
Davros sat on a hill overlooking the battlefield. He was grateful for how an old man in strange trousers had saved him but felt that there was something else going on. He knew that the old man had been hiding something from him but he could work out what.
Suddenly, he heard a harsh wheezing and howling sound behind him and felt a small breeze on the back of his neck. He turned round and saw someone unusual advance towards him. The stranger was in some sort of metal armour and had something attached to his head and also held a small metal capsule in his hand.
"Who are you?" Davros asked, getting up and backing away slowly.
"I shall change your world forever." the stranger replied, hurling the capsule at Davros. The capsule attached to Davros and began to encase him in the same armour that the stranger was wearing, with a helmet covering his head. The stranger watched with glee as Davros was converted into a Cyberman.
The TARDIS materialised near to Davros and the Doctor stepped out, followed by Asla who wielded her two laser pistols.
"Cyber Lord, stop this." the Doctor pleaded, noticing the other Cyberman nearby, "Who have you just converted?"
"I HAVE SEEN THAT POLICE BOX BEFORE." the other Cyberman declared, "WHO ARE THESE OTHERS?"
"This is the Doctor and Asla. Would you like to tell them who you are?" the Cyber Lord asked with a grin on his face.
"I AM DAVROS. I SHALL LEAD THE CYBERMEN TO VICTORY AND NOTHING SHALL STOP THE EMPIRE OF THE CYBERMEN." Davros proudly proclaimed, as the Doctor and Asla looked on in horror.
Marie Jones watched what was happening from a distance and Ollistra walked up to her and stood by her side. She held a large ion bazooka in her hands, ready to destroy the Cyber Lord for good.
"Are you sure about that thing?" Marie wondered, referring to the ion bazooka.
"This has gone on long enough. We can correct the errors in the timelines from here. Your warning helped though." Ollistra responded, only to receive a puzzled look from Marie.
"What warning? Did I give you a warning?"
"Ah. Perhaps you might give me a warning in the future."
Marie nodded, understanding the complexity of time. Presumably her future self had sent the co-ordinates for Skaro back to her. How very kind of her.
"Go on then. Fire the bazooka at the Cyber Lord and the Cybermen." Marie instructed and Ollistra fired it, watching the two green energy pulses collide with the Cybermen.
The Doctor and Asla dived out of the way as the Cyber Lord and Davros exploded with a flash of green. Chunks of Cyber armour scattered themselves everywhere and the scarred body of the Cyber Lord could be seen, with part of the Cyber handles connected into his head.
"What was that?" Asla questioned, glancing around, "A pulse cannon of some sort?"
"An ion bazooka." the Doctor replied, waving at the familiar figure of Cardinal Ollistra who was stood on a nearby clifftop, "But hopefully we can get rid of the Cyber Lord for good."
They turned to face the Cyber Lord, who had started to regenerate: golden energy was flowing out of his head and hands. The Cyber handles embedded in his skull melted away and the Cyber Lord climbed out of his old armour before the process ended: his scarred face had changed into a younger man's face with a thick brown moustache and beard. He examined his hands and looked up at the Doctor.
"Who am I?" he wondered, before collapsing to the ground.
"Doctor, what do we do about Davros?" Asla demanded, kneeling by the dead boy's body. The Doctor scanned the body with his sonic screwdriver and smiled as he had an idea in his head. He looked over at Ollistra and began to ran over to her, leaving Asla behind.
When he had reached Ollistra's TARDIS, he entered it and dematerialised, leaving Asla, Marie, Ollistra and the newly regenerated Cyber Lord behind.
"Where's he off to now?" Asla asked Marie, "And who are you?"
"I'm Marie Jones and I don't know where the Doctor's gone. But he's left his TARDIS behind and has a lot of work to do, as do we." Marie replied, "In fact, we have the hardest job in the universe to do."
"What job do we have to do?"
"We need to find the Doctor."
