Chapter Three.

At Whipstaff Manor.
Four Thirty pm.

After finishing one of her assignments Kat had decided to go take a shower.
Within the half-hour she was done with her shower, Kat got herself dried off before getting dressed in the bathroom so she won't have to wrap a towel wrapped around her body and have one of the ghosts attempt to pull it off and have her running to her room naked since they had once attempted it last year.
Now Kat had been cautious of any shenanigans they might pull off.
As she had a towel wrapped around her head, she stepped out of the bathroom and went off to her room which was once Casper's room in another lifetime.
As soon as she got into her room, she closed the door and then took the towel off her head just when she heard the sound of laughter from downstairs and her dad was talking with the two ghosts who visited his office in the house and they spoke about the time they visited a town called Deedstown, California.

Realizing that that lanky leader of the Ghostly Trio was back home, Kat rolled her eyes and breathed a sigh at the fact that he might just drop in.
So after giving her hair a quick brush with her hairbrush she went to the window to see if Casper was anywhere to be found. She looked around at the skies to see if he was floating about but she couldn't find him until she looked down to see that he was just flying back to the house.
But not only that, there was a taxi coming up the road leading towards their house. Kat found it strange as they didn't have any relatives that might come and visit her and her father. That was when Casper flew into her room, so Kat went inside to speak with him when he spoke first. "Hey Kat, did you have a good day?"

"Casper, I did have a good day. But where have you been? I was worried that you might have run off, even your crazy uncles were asking for you but I think Stretch sounds a little less mad at you." Kat spoke to Casper who then replied. "Well, that's because we have visitors coming to our house."

"Visitors?" asked Kat. Casper nodded. Drawing a curious look on her face Kat questioned him further.
"And who are these visitors?" she asked Casper.

Outside the gate of Whipstaff manor.

The taxi that was carrying Chris and Jennifer was slowing down on the driveway to the gate and then it stopped when it was close enough.
Once Chris and Jennifer had paid the driver thirty dollars for the ride to Whipstaff manor, the driver gave him a five-dollar note as change before the two kids climbed out of the Taxi.
Soon after the kids were out of the taxi and the door was closed, the driver drove his car out of the driveway to head back into town as he knew that the estate was too creepy for him to linger about. Turning to face the gates, Chris looked around at the whole area.
He felt most interested in how creepy the front yard looked whilst Jennifer felt a little scared as she stayed close by Chris' side. Feeling that Jennifer was a little nervous, Chris turned to look at her.
"Jennifer, it is okay. There's nothing to be scared about, come one. Let's see if anyone is in." Chris said before he led her towards the gates. Opening the gate, he went through first whilst Jennifer stood taking a few deep breaths to calm herself before she went through the gate as well to walk up towards the door with Chris by her side.

Once they were near the doorway, Chris was the one to knock on the door. He and Jennifer waited at the door for a few seconds when someone answered the doorway, it was Doctor James Harvey who appeared at the doorway to see the two kids standing at the door. "Oh Hi, um can I help you two?" he asked. Jennifer was the one to speak.
"Hi um I'm Jennifer Elliot, this is my friend Chris Carson. We're here to ask if you know any ghosts that live around here?"

"Well, I wouldn't know of any. But as you must know they are just spirits with unfinished business. And if I did know of any ghosts in this house, I'd say that they used to exist once. But If you're here to prank us then you're wasting my time." Doctor Harvey explained to Jennifer before Chris then jumped into the conversation. "We're not here to waste it but I just need to ask do you know of one that's named Casper?"

Hearing that name mentioned, Doctor Harvey frowned at Chris before he asked him.
"Where did you hear that name? And How did you know?" Before Doctor Harvey could complete his question, Casper appeared from the ceiling and floated next to Doctor Harvey. "It's okay Doctor Harvey, these two are my other friends from out of town," Casper explained to Doctor Harvey.
"Your friends? You didn't tell me that you had friends from out of town." Doctor Harvey said.
"Well it was almost a few years ago before my uncles and I found Whipstaff manor and moved all the way out here," Casper replied. Doctor Harvey turned to look at Chris and Jennifer and back at Casper. "Doctor Harvey, he's telling the truth, and since you are a friend of Casper's we just wanted to meet you. Also a while back my girlfriend and I did a class project on him when he was twelve years old, we'd be happy to talk to you about it if that's okay with you."
After a few seconds, Doctor Harvey then decided to let them in. "Alright, since you're both friends of Casper's you're welcomed into our humble abode."
"Thanks and it's a pleasure to meet you, Doctor Harvey," Chris said, offering his hand which James Harvey took shaking it.

As he went inside the house, Chris greeted Casper, saying it good to see an old ghostly fiend whilst James Harvey shook Jennifer's hand as well and then entered the house. Just when Doctor Harvey was just closing the door, Kat Harvey had appeared at the top of the stairs.
She came down the stairs to see that her dad and Casper had company, she realized that they were the friends that Casper was talking about. So Kat came down the stair and then waved to them as she spoke.
"So you must be the famous friends that Casper has just told me about."
"Yeah, my name is Chris. Chris Carson and this is Jennifer, my girlfriend." Chris said introducing himself and Jennifer to Kat who then reached the bottom of the stairs.
"I'm Kathleen, Doctor Harvey's daughter. It very nice to meet you two." Kat replied extending her hand to Chris.
Once Chris shook her hand, Kat moved on to Jennifer who took her hand and shook it with a small grin. "It's very nice to meet you too. You know I heard some good things about you," said Jennifer.

"Oh, I hope that it's not all bad cos I'm not interested in being a subject for one of your future school projects so that you can get good grades," said Kat.

"Oh no, it's not that. Casper's uncles spoke about you and your mom," said Jennifer.

"Really, well having learned that my mom was the one who granted Casper the chance to be human I felt glad that I got to share my first kiss with him on Halloween night," said Kat.

"You shared a first kiss with a ghost in the flesh? That's so narley Kat, I think you and I are going to get along just fine. I'm almost glad to meet you." asked Jennifer drawing a small grin.

"Yeah me too. So are you and Chris planning on staying long?" asked Kat.

"Oh. Actually, I just came here with my parents, so I might need to call them and let them know where we are. Is there a phone that I can use?" asked Jennifer.

"Sure, please follow me. I can take you over to my dad's office and you can use the phone there." Kat said before she led Jennifer across the great hall to the doors at the end. Having been talking with Chris about his adventures at Whipstaff Manor when Chris turned to see Kat turning away to head to the next room.
Turning back to Casper, Chris spoke.
"Uh Casper, as much as I want to listen more about your adventures I think I might need to go with my girlfriend Jennifer to the next room because we didn't let her parents know that we were here at your house."
"Well, that's okay. I hope that at some point I can show you where my dad works since you're here on vacation. So you can inform your parents that you're here." Casper said whilst Chris then walked off to the next room.

The next room, Doctor Harvey's workroom.

Entering the next room, Kat Harvey had led Jennifer through the room to the Library where Doctor Harvey was sitting at his desk reading into a file.
When he heard the door open he looked up to see Kat entering the library.
"Oh hey Kat, what's up?" asked Doctor Harvey. "Uh, we just need to use the phone, Jennifer needs to call her parents to let them know that she and Chris are okay," Kat answered.

"Oh okay then. Jennifer, do your parents know where you are?" asked Doctor Harvey.

"Well not really," Jennifer answered. "Then if you give me the number for their hotel then I will call and let them know immediately cause I don't want your parents to think that you're trespassing on public property." Doctor Harvey stated.
Jennifer nodded before she approached the desk and took a pen and paper.
She wrote down the number for the hotel that her parents were residing in Hope, once she wrote the number and the name which was called Jameson's inn.
After giving the number to Doctor Harvey, he reached out for the phone. As soon as he picked up the receiver he dialled the number.
Taking a seat at his desk, he waited with the phone to his ear which was ringing until the reception answered.
"Jameson's inn, Karl speaking."

"Hello there, this is Doctor James Harvey. can I ask to speak to a Mr and Mrs Elliot." Doctor Harvey responded to the receptionist.
"Hold please," Karl replied, Doctor Harvey, sat back waiting on the phone.
He waited for at least a minute until he received a reply from Mr Elliot. "Hello."

"Hello this is Doctor James Harvey, I'm just calling you just to let you know that your daughter and her Boyfriend Chris Carson are safe, they were visiting my house at the invitation of my daughter Kat. I wanted to let you know encase you get worried and there's no intrusion"
Looking at Jennifer, Doctor Harvey then brought the phone to her. "Here's Jennifer."
"Thanks, Doctor Harvey," Jennifer said taking the phone before she explained it to her mother.
As she spoke, her mother listened to her daughter Jennifer's words. Learning that she met a new girl named Kat on the streets and made fast friends with her as Jennifer's mom Mrs Elliot learned. What impressed her most was that Kat's dad was Doctor Harvey who was famous for being a ghost therapist.
So she told Jennifer that she and Mr Elliot will be along at the whipstaff manor to pick them up within the hour.
"Okay mum, thank you and I'll look forward to seeing you soon."
"And I'll see you soon Jennifer, you and Chris just stay inside the house and don't wander off the property. Is that Clear?"

"Yes it's crystal clear mum, bye," Jennifer said before she put the phone down on the receiver.
Jennifer looked up at Doctor Harvey who then spoke. "So your mom advised you to stay indoors until she gets here?"

"Yes Doctor Harvey, whilst we're waiting around can you give us the grand tour of the household?" Jennifer said to Doctor Harvey who thought it over.
Looking at her face, Doctor Harvey drew a small grin and spoke. "Well I like to but I have some work that I will need to do, but my kat could show you around the household, could you Kat?"

"Why not?" Kat responded. Leaving Doctor Harvey at his desk, Jennifer went up to Kat's side before the two ladies went through the doorway. Once they were out of the workroom, Kat and Jennifer began the tour into the whole household.

At the architect's office.

Whilst his son Chris and his girlfriend were bring entertained by Kat Harvey and her friend Casper, Tim was in his office taking some time to read on the reports of a new plan to refurbish a new house on the east end of the town which would be a good place for housing development but as he finished his reading, his mind wandered on to his girlfriend Sheila.
Ever since the time that he went into a bidding war for the soul of Applegate Manor, he couldn't help but admire her spirit and commitment to a cause. Also for the fact that she had always been there for his son when he was in trouble at school.

Placing the papers on his desk Tim looked down to his drawers before he opened the first one to reach in and take up a small box that sat inside.
Taking the box out and closing the drawers, Tim held the box and opened it.
What was inside the box was a wedding ring that sat on its spot which meant that he had been holding onto it for years. As Tim held the open box in his hand he started to think about Sheila and how he was going to propose to her, or at least when.
If he proposed to her on a special occasion then it would matter but he also wondered if his late wife would approve of it, Tim only wished that he could hear the sound of her voice again and maybe gain some form of closure. Of course, he started to wonder how those three crazy ghosts were going at Whipstaff Manor.

He was still thinking of his proposal when there was a knock on the door.
Tim turned his head to the door, which opened up and it was Sheila who entered the room.
"Sheila, what are you doing here?" he asked. Sheila drew a small grin before she replied.
"I was just in the neighbourhood since I got an early leave, also I was thinking that we could go out for lunch today."

"Today? Well it's funny because I was going to call you to ask if you were busy tonight," said Tim.

"Well, I'm free today if you've finished up here or we can leave it for tonight if you'd like." Sheila offered.
Tim thought on it for a short while as he held the box in his hand before he decided.
"I guess I could take you out for today, as I wanted to talk to you personally," Tim said before heading to the hanger to pick up his coat. As he turned to Sheila, who waited and watched him come to her. The two then went off through the doorway of his office to head for a cafe in town so they can spend some time together.

Thirty minutes into their lunch date, Tim and Sheila had found the cafe where they enjoyed the coffee together. But further into their conversation whilst they enjoyed the lunch meals, it was almost nearing the time before heading back to work. So Tim took this moment to make his move.
Once they were almost finished with their lunch, Sheila noticed that he was acting a little strange.
Breathing in to regain his composure, Tim decided to approach the subject.
"Sheila," Tim spoke. "Yes, Tim. is there something wrong?" Sheila replied.

"No Sheila, but I wanted to speak to you since we've been together for a while. After some soul searching I decided on something." Tim stated to Sheila who frowned curiously. "Decided on what?" she asked.

"Well, I wanted to ask if you wish to take our relationship to a new step." Tim answered as he reached into his pocket. Pulling out the box Tim raised it up to place it on the table. Sheila looked down to see the box in Tim's hand and she realized what he was about to ask her.

To be continued...
