Sovokia looked like Jotunheim in the light. All ruined buildings and snow. It wasn't something that Loki had particularly wanted to be reminded of.
While Loki was unaffected by the chill, the others, including Strange, shivered. Loki, for his part, was far more interested in the large red bubble that seemed to be engulfing a significant portion of the ruined city.
It was at least a couple miles across, and high enough to almost obscure the view of the mountains in the distance. The surface of the bubble seemed to be a swirling, effervescent crimson energy that was ever so slightly giving off light.
With the way it was nestled in the middle of the ruined city and reflecting red light off of the jagged surfaces around it, the dome looked rather ominous indeed.
"I'd say we found it," Stark observed after a long second, "But why here?"
"I'd assume because Wanda wanted to go home," Banner said, something not quite steady in his tone.
Stark whistled.
"I'm guessing blasting it would be a bad idea."
"Only if you want it to either retaliate, or to kill everyone inside," Strange said. "That thing is stable now, but I'm not even fully sure what it is. I can sense the Scarlet Witch inside of it, vaguely, and I have to assume the others are in there as well."
"So how do we get in?" Loki asked, tilting his head a few degrees to the side as he examined the thing. "It doesn't appear to be a barrier so much as a gateway, so we should theoretically be able to traverse it."
If anything, it seemed like one of the gates that opened to one of the nine realms. It was more like space than it was dimension. But if that was the case, given that the location was in Midgard, it probably wasn't as stable as it looked.
It wasn't growing, though. That was probably a good thing.
Loki let out a slow breath.
The problem with younger magic users, like the witch, was simply the fact that they did end up making...mistakes. And a powerful user tended to make some pretty impressive mistakes.
This was very likely one of those.
"We have no idea what's on the other side of that thing," Banner said, gesturing in the vague direction of the dome as he shook his head. "We'd need to have someone who knew what they were doing when it came to interdimensional gateways, and no one here really fits that description."
"No...but I believe that I know of someone who does," Loki said with a smile. "How quickly can you get us to Iceland, Doctor? I have a few...friends who might be able to help."
And he could tell her all about Valkyrie.
