Clutching the bag Alice had left for me; I listen to the scratching and moans outside the bathroom door. I locked it and shoved the vanity chair under there a while ago. This can't be happening to me! Or to the world… this has to be some bad dream I can't wake up from; must have watched one too many cheesy horror films to come up with this crap. ALICE! That's what the pixie has been up to the past year… all the classes she's been taking me to for my "self-confidence & self-worth" . Martial arts lessons, Horticulture classes, EMT certification, time at the gun and archery ranges… She even took me to one of those week long bug out camps for those crazy prepper people! She has been preparing me for this world without even hinting that this was coming! Opening the bag she prepared for me, I found a letter.
" Bella,
I know you're upset I didn't tell you this was coming, but if you knew you would've changed to many things and not end up where you are supposed to. What's happened to Edward is irreversible, it's happening to all vampires across the world. Aro Volturi is a greedy man that doesn't listen; he started this whole mess a few years back by looking for a poison to kill vampires with so he didn't have to get his hands dirty. I tried to change the future Bella; no matter what I did the outcome was always the same. Aro always found a way to administer the poison to his rivals, Stefan and Vladimir. They are the creators of all the others. Once the poison was administered, what you saw happen to Edward the past 3 days happened to all vampires around the world. Yes, that includes all the Cullen's Bella. Jasper and I have been preparing for this for the past year, ever since we came back from Italy. We eliminated the Cullen's right before the decay started to set in; it sounds harsh but we put them down before they could come back and hurt people. It will give the town more time to prepare, including your dad. Charlie will be safe with the protectors (and Sue!) until you return. We all love you and even though I am no longer there with you, I've found ways to help. All of those vacations Jazz and I took the past year were for a reason Bella, you'll never be alone even in the darkest moments, we'll be watching over you.
Time to get down to business Bella. Edward is trapped in that house with you. You're going to have to put him down. The only way to kill them is to puncture the brain; shoot, stab, smash… whatever you can do. That's not Edward out there anymore Bella, he wouldn't want to hurt anyone just like the rest of the Cullen's. You need to kill him so he can be with his family. The virus is spread through biting just like vampire venom. The zombies are hungry just like newborns and will do whatever they can to get their next meal. They are weaker from the decay and their only drive is for their next meal. Don't get bitten. The signs of someone being bitten are a fever and hallucinations; they will rise back up once they die if the brain isn't killed. Eventually everyone will become infected through airborne particles. So if anyone dies, whether it be from old age or gun shot, they will come back. It can happen quickly like 30 seconds or take up to 12 hours. A few of them are no problem but they build up in herds and can quickly over come you. They are attracted to noise, light, movement, and smell. You'll need to put blankets up over the windows and stay put for a few week until it calms down a little. Stay very quiet and conserve your food and water supply. The dead may be terrifying, but a lot of the people that survive will be worse. Stay away from people Bella; death isn't the worst thing that can happen to you.
On April 3rd, men will break into the house. You will need to move most of your things into the attic; weapons, a few weeks of food and water, personal items you wish to keep. Make the house look like it's already been ransacked. Stay in the attic and be quiet, they will be heavily armed and more will be outside. You won't be able to take them and survive your wounds. Once they leave you will stay until the 12th then leave to start your journey. I'm sorry Bella, no matter what I did, your mother didn't survive, she just isn't cut out to live in this kind of world. She was just too kind trying to save someone else and died. Phil took her down after she turned but he too will die trying to save someone else. If you try to stay after the 12th a herd will take over the neighborhood and you'll be too late to set out on what you need to do to return home. I love you Bella and I want you to be happy. Even with the way the world is now, you can still be happy. You've learned a lot of the knowledge it takes to survive in this type of world and you'll make it. By the way, you're welcome for all those appointments I took you to in the city, hygiene supplies will become very low very fast, but you won't look like Chewbacca in a few weeks! This won't be the last letter you receive from us. Jazz knows you have what it takes and you "kick ass", his words not mine. We will go out together along with Jazz's other brother Peter and his mate Char. Don't mourn us Bella; we got to spend lifetimes together and will find peace in death. This page must be burned after you read it and do what I say. You're going to go north to Atlanta, Georgia. The route you need to take is on the map in your bag, you'll need the ultra violet light to read it. Its marked with invisible ink just in case someone else gets into your stuff. When you get to Atlanta, the building you need to go to is marked on the map. Go to the roof and wait. You'll see a group of people get into a scuffle and leave a man behind. He's unstable, but he has the heart to change if given the proper motivation. You'll need to attach the other letter for MD to an arrow with the key and shoot it over there. Once that's done, get out of the city as fast as possible. Don't wait for the man, he needs time to process some things and go through withdrawals. Go to the next location on the map. Those numbers you got on the inside of your arms are longitude and latitude to different caches Jazz and I have set up according to the needs you'll have at the time. Take the first number from your left arm and the first from your right arm and type them into the satellite GPS that's in your bag. There is a solar charger with cords for your IPOD, UV light, and the GPS. There are custom made boots in the attic; under the soles are hidden weapons for if you're ever in trouble with just the clothes on your back. Your bow is also up there with a full quiver, along with a few things Jazz picked out. Your pack has survival rations in it along with a couple of life straws for water. Antibiotics are hidden in a special place in the lining if you ever have need for them, there will be more at the different cache sites. Your medical kit is complete with suture kit, and everything you'll need to reach the next site to refill your pack. There is also a hygiene pack with everything from soap to a toothbrush. PLEASE French braid your hair so it doesn't get so knotted that you have to chop it with your knife (it won't be a good look for you). There is also a small set of skinning and butchering knifes; sorry Bella but you're going to have to hunt for most of your food. That's what that class was for after your birthday, you can do it. There are extra clips and ammo to the guns Jazz left in the attic in the other pocket of your bag. In the front pocket are pictures for you. They are specially done and will last forever, they won't fade. There is a necklace in the bottom drawer of the dresser in your room. Don't give up Bella. Sofia is safe. Teach her to survive in the new world since her group won't. She'll lead you to where you need to go next. There will be another letter at the next place after you leave Atlanta to give you the information you'll need to survive with the group. You'll know who you can trust when you see them. The letter will be taped to the underside of the top drawer in the bathroom in the hall. Have some faith and be safe. We love you. You'll get back to Forks eventually, but this is the path that needs to be followed first so not only you can be happy but many others. Your dad will stay with the wolves until you return; I've left him a letter along with a letter for Jake to help the reservation survive. Let's just say they will be living pretty good this winter and have plenty of supplies to last for future survival. They will be fine, so worry about you and do as I advise. I know you're still hurt with the way Edward treated you in your relationship, but eventually you'll find someone who lets you be you and you can be happy. Remember you're nobody's Bitch; Cover your bite mark with Edwards's cuff, people will freak out if they see it. You are very special Bella to have that mark and survived. You are literally one of a kind and Seth will have a theory when you return home. He will be right Bella. You make it and prove all those who didn't believe you could wrong. After I finishing the letter, I broke down and cried. I cried for Alice and Jasper and the rest of the Cullen's. I cried for my mother and Phil. And I cried for what I was about to have to do, but Alice was right, he wouldn't want to hurt anyone. I grabbed the hunting knife from my bag and slowly moved the chair away from the door to do what needed to be done….
This is the first story I've really wanted to write. I love to read fanfics but I'm not too sure of being a good writer. I'm trying my best, so go easy on me. It will be a slow burn. Eventually Bella/Daryl. Bella is about to be 20 in this story, Daryl will be about 29. Have patience, I have a plot laid out.
