Chapter 2
BPOV
Sitting on this rooftop in Atlanta waiting for this supposed "scuffle" to break out as Alice had put it, I feel like I'm cooking up here. The trip here hadn't been too bad. My mom's Prius made it the whole way, just stopping to siphon gas I was able to make in a little under 6 hrs. I parked it about 2 blocks away in a parking garage. Luckily, I had yet to run into any living people. The men had come to the house just like Alice said they would and I haven't really gotten a full night of sleep since.
I had been in the attic for a while, wondering if I had my days confused because no one seemed to be showing up, when all of a sudden the door was smashed in. These guys didn't seem to give a damn about all the noise they were making. It took all I had not to shoot them when I caught onto their conversation; I realized Alice was right yet again, death was not the worst thing that could happen to me.
" So Ryan, I heard you got dibs on the blonde bitch when we get back?" said one man
"Yea, Why? You wanna buy my turn?" answered Ryan
"Naw man, I like 'em better before they turn, but man was she a nice ride before she turned into a dead 'un" said the other man
"Too bad the sister got away.." Said Ryan as they moved to another part of the house so I could no longer hear them.
Alice said there were more outside; if I could've helped then she would've said. I feel sick letting people like this live, but I do want to make it back home eventually.
Twirling my necklace Alice and Jazz had given me around, a nice gold compass that really worked, waiting on something… anything to happen here. The trip into the building and up the stairs wasn't terrible, there hadn't been more than 10 zombies total. For 20 something floors I was surprised to find so little but then again Alice picked it. I finally hear something and turn to peak over the edge. To say I was slightly surprised would be a massive understatement; this cowboy is riding through town like freaking Clint Eastwood on a horse wearing a police uniform. I catch a glimpse of someone else on the other roof looking at him as well. He turns the corner where I can no longer see him, I almost thought the heat was getting to me and I imagined it, but not 10 minutes later he comes tearing back around on foot with a herd following and ducks into an ally where another man is waiting. They disappear from my view and I'm back to waiting. Finally a group comes up to the roof and low and behold they got Clint Eastwood with them. A guy in a sleeveless shirt punches another man and Clint Eastwood ends up cuffing him to a pipe on the roof. The dead have surrounded their building which is what they seem to be concerned with. They disappear for a while then most reappear on the roof missing the cowboy and the guy with the red hat. It took me a while to notice the two not dead people covered in what I can only imagine is zombie guts and body parts making their way through the herd. That is not a terrible idea if I'm ever in a tight spot. And if it's not just shitty luck it starts to rain on them, but they make it to the box trucks seemingly leaving the others behind. Not too long later they are all leaving the man on the roof cuffed there and what appears to be a saw by his feet. WTF. Stuck in a horror movie, apparently Saw. Once they are all out of site, the man is still freaking out, I come to a stand and ready my bow. The letter isn't to heavy but I'm just hoping it makes its target because I really don't want to go down on the street to retrieve it. The man finally spots me and I think he's a little worried I'm going to shoot him. I take aim and let it fly; it's a little left of him but he can reach it if he really tries. Well my work is done here time to high tail it out of here to the next place Alice has laid out.
I exit the building, taking advantage of the zombies are all rallying together to chase the box truck that is no longer there, I dart between alley ways to make it back to the parking garage. Just as I am about to get in my car, I hear a car alarm echoing all through Atlanta. I quickly get into my car and haul ass out of the parking garage. Taking the route marked on the map to a house in the woods, I relax a little bit. After the little I've seen and heard, the living seem to make me pretty nervous. After clearing the house, I go straight to the hall bathroom and pull out the drawer. Sure enough a letter is taped to the bottom.
Bella,
Don't lose your faith in the living just yet, not all of them are bad. Even the ones you saw today, they may not always do what is right but they are good people. This will be the group you'll eventually get to meet. I know you were scared today in the city, probably worried about more people like the ones in Florida; but have some faith in these people please. Today when you go hunting, you'll come across a camp by the quarry. It will be the people from the Atlanta group; well most of them, some of them returned to the city to retrieve the man handcuffed. They won't be back in time to fight off the dead that will take some lives in their camp. Don't get too close, a man named Shane is running the show down there and it will not be good if he catches you around camp. He is very unhappy right now and would take it out on you for being a "thief" and trying to steal their stuff… The others are still following him since he has lead them this far and would believe what he says to be true. There will be a tree with a perch in it close to their camp with a view of the side door of the RV. You'll be coved by the canopy but still have an open shot. A blonde girl, Amy, will go into the RV but when she goes to come out a dead one will be there about to bite her; you need to take it down. She will be important to someone else later on. Once you take the shot, get out of there. You'll need to leave to go to the next location at sun rise or you'll be tracked. Watch when you're returning to the house around the side of the garage, there will be two dead around the corner. You'll be safe in the garage apartment till morning. Take the food and supplies from the main house before you leave, but do it quickly. Once you get to the next location, you will be staying for a while. Don't venture too far east and don't go into town. Your next letter will be in the same place at the next house. Go quickly so you will make it in time,
Love, Alice
PS: Charlie is doing good, Sue is taking care of him making sure he takes care of himself.
Looks like I'm going hunting.
This Chapter was a little shorter, but now its getting confusing to write since I have so many ideas for the story. I might recap on Edwards death later on, but when I wrote it earlier it just seemed to drag and was unnecessary. I had a different chapter two started with more detail from when she stayed in Florida but it just seemed terribly boring when I reread it. I'll eventually write about Merle's letter. Any advice? Is it Terrible?
