Now where is Kayla?

A woman about twenty seven years was typing the records on her computer. She has a shoulder-length brunette hair, a kind feature and her exotic purple eyes. Her job was a librarian. Not a very high-paid job like doctors but this woman was following her passion and that is reading, writing and learning.

She can memorize all of the books in the library and where to put them. She is also kind and sweet towards children and adult alike. These are the reasons why everyone love to come to the library and both of her parents were proud of her. She sighed as she looked at a photo frame beside her.

It has a picture of a young girl that was a younger version of herself and next to her was a boy who looked sweet and endearing. The problem with him was that he had scales instead of skin like a crocodile and a row of sharp teeth when he smiles. But the girl loved him for who he is.

" Waylon," the woman whispered as she traced the boy's picture. " Where are you? I've missed you and I want to see you again. Why did those kids from our past bully you? Why can't the world see how beautiful you are inside out?"

She hugged the picture with care and kissed it. A tear slides down at the corner of her face. She really misses him. But even with the job she had wanted and a good life with her parents, she still misses the guy who made her feel like one of the female characters from her romance novels.

" Kayla," a voice called her. She looked up from her work and saw her boss staring at her. Her boss was around thirty with square-rimmed glasses and has blue eyes. He has short blonde hair and wore a plain white shirt with black trousers.

" I think you need a day off," he said. " You deserved a break and I think so because you have a melancholy look on your face when you are typing the records and reading your novels during your break."

Kayla was shocked. " But sir, what about the programs for the children tomorrow?" Her boss chuckled and replied," We'll postpone it on Monday. Besides, tomorrow is a Friday and everyone needs a good Friday. You have been a good librarian and we need more people like you nowadays."

Kayla smiled an appreciated smile. ' He's right,' she thought. ' Maybe a day off will help me calm down and I'll be alright by Monday.'

" Thank you, sir," she thanked him.

" It was no trouble Miss Harper. I hope you are alright by Monday."

" Yes sir!"

...

Kayla has moved to Florida with her family after her graduation. Both of her parents were proud of her. Like her, they also missed the boy that used to live with them before the event happened.

" Mom, Dad, I'm home!" Kayla announced. Her mom came out of the kitchen. She looked like an elder version of Kayla if she hadn't got the wrinkles on her face. She has a pleasant smile and an understanding of how a mother should be.

Her dad came downstairs to greet her. He had grey hair and a white beard and used to be a lawyer before his retirement. The family sat down at the dining table and discuss about their day. Kayla told her parents about her day.

" I see," said Mr Harper. " He's a good boy and doesn't deserve the pain that he endured. I'm not really sure where he had gone ever since the police took him away."

" But didn't you try to bail him out?" asked Mrs Harper. But the old man shakes his head. " When I got there, the police said that someone had bailed him out."

Kayla didn't feel like eating. What if the person who bought him is abusing him? Or tortured? Or even killed? Mr Harper gave his daughter a hug and said, " Don't worry Kayla, maybe we'll see him again. Who knows, he could be here."

" There's a carnival coming to town," Mrs Harper suggested. " Why don't we go there tomorrow since it's your day off?"

Kayla sighed and nodded. " Okay, mom."

That night, Kayla was getting ready for bed. She prayed a silent prayer to God about reuniting with her lover. " And please let him be okay," she whispered. " I missed him."

With that, she switched off the lights and went to bed.

Are the two going to be reunited? We'll find that out in the next chapter.
