Author's Note: Hey everyone! Sorry it took so long for me to update! I wasn't sure about this chapter and then I had to play around with it and I have come down with a serious case of writer's block and ugh. This is just a cute little chapter to hopefully make you all smile.

Disclaimer: I don't own The Mentalist.

Melody skipped into the Serious Crime Unit's bullpen. "Hello, Grace. Hello, Batman. Hello, Cho." Melody giggled. "That rhymed."

The corner of Cho's mouth twitched upward. "Hello."

"Hi, Melody." Grace smiled. "Did you and Ellie have fun at her house?"

"Yeah." Melody nodded. "She got a new kitten and it's really cute."

"That sounds exciting." Rigsby smiled.

"It was! We were playing with it and giving it toys to chase."

"Sounds like fun. I'm glad you had a good time." Van Pelt said.

"Thank you. Where's Teresa and Patrick?"

"They're talking with Wainwright in his office."

"About what?"

Van Pelt shrugged. "Budget or something. But it's important so don't-" But Melody had already taken off, full sprint for the stairs to Wainwright's office. "…Disturb them…"

"I know Jane's not her dad, but I swear it's like she inherited that kind of stuff from him." Rigsby shook his head.

"Lisbon's not her mom, but Melody still straightens things when she's nervous." Cho pointed out.

"Yeah, that's weird." Van Pelt agreed as she sat at her desk.

Wainwright paused his summary of all the problems Jane's recent antics had brought about at the sound of someone knocking on his office door. "Come in."

The door opened slightly and Melody poked her head in. "Hello. Excuse me."

Lisbon groaned mentally.

"Hello, Melody." Wainwright tried to sound as calm as possible.

"Are you okay?" Melody asked.

"Yes, Melody. Thank you."

"But your face is red. Are you sunburned or mad?"

"No. I've got a lot on my mind."

"Is the budget hard to figure out?"

"Yes. The budget is being very difficult today." Wainwright sent Jane a pointed look.

Jane simply shrugged.

"Oh. Well, if it is a sunburn, put aloe vera-"

"Melody," Lisbon interrupted, getting up and walking over to talk to her niece. "Sweetie, this is really important."

"But you said we would go out for dinner tonight."

"I know, but Patrick and I have to do this first."

"I'll sit on the chair over there and be really quiet until you're done."

"No, I can't let you."

"Why not?"

Lisbon panicked and quickly tried to think of something to say that wouldn't offend or upset Melody. "You need to think about where we're going to go for dinner. We haven't decided."

"No, we didn't." Melody agreed.

"You can use my office to wait for us and think about it."

"Okay." Melody nodded, giving Lisbon a hug and then running over to give Jane one as well. Finally, she hugged Wainwright and with that, she hurried out the door and down to Lisbon's office.

Lisbon smiled awkwardly in apology as she sat down in her chair again.

"Wipe that smirk off your face!" Lisbon hissed once the door to Wainwright's office shut behind them.

"You don't have to get so worked up." Jane stuck his hands in his pockets.

"Jane! For once, can you please stop being such an ass? Maybe watch what you say to the rich people? Give me at least one day where I'm not getting yelled at by someone because of you?" She started down the stairs and Jane followed her.

"It was the only way I could think to get the guy to reveal anything useful." Jane defended. "If we don't get any useful information, we can't close the case. And if we can't close the case, the case closing ratio drops. It looks bad on you and the rest of the team if the case closing ratio drops. Really, I do it because I love you and I want you to continue having a successful career. I can't help myself. It's because I love you so much."

Lisbon rolled her eyes. "Yeah, right. You just like being a pain in my behind."

"It's a very nice behind."

Lisbon blushed slightly and smacked Jane's shoulder. "Shut up!"

Jane just chuckled as he followed Lisbon into her office where Melody was contemplating restaurants at Lisbon's desk.

"Hi!" Melody looked up at them and smiled when she heard the door open.

"Hello, sweetie." Lisbon smiled. "Who's that list going?"

"Good." Melody put the pen she was using down. "I thought of five places and now I am deciding between two."

"Yeah?" Lisbon looked over Melody's shoulder.

"What do we have left?" Jane joined them behind Lisbon's desk. "Oh, lets go to that one." He pointed at his choice.

"You really want tacos?" Lisbon looked at him.

"What do you have against tacos?" Jane questioned.

"Yeah, lets have tacos!" Melody clapped.

"I don't have anything against tacos." Lisbon retorted. "Don't make me the bad guy here."

"Then we're going for tacos." Jane smiled.

Lisbon rolled her eyes.

A knock on Lisbon's office door drew their attention. It was Van Pelt. "Just saying goodbye. I'm heading home."

"Goodbye." Lisbon replied.

"See you tomorrow." Jane smiled.

"Bye." Melody waved.

They said their goodbyes to Cho and Rigsby before heading out. The elevator pinged and they got in.

"Teresa?"

"Yes, Melody?"

"Did Uncle Tommy and Annabeth say if they're coming for vacation?"

"They still don't know." Lisbon shook her head.

"Oh. Can we go there?"

"I don't think so."

"Can we go for Christmas? I want to see snow again."

"We'll see."

"You say that every year. And every year, we don't go. Am I never going back to Chicago, ever?"

"Of course not." Lisbon told her. "You'll be able to go back to Chicago some time. Just not right now. But you will, I promise."

Melody just hung her head.

Jane felt bad that she was upset. And the evening had started off so well. He needed to change the subject and distract her. "Hey, Melody?"

"Yeah?" Melody mumbled, not looking up at him.

"I was on my couch earlier, just thinking about things and I came across a puzzling question. I think you can help me figure it out."

Melody looked at him, still upset, but curious as well.

"You call Uncle Tommy, Uncle Tommy and Uncle Andy, Uncle Andy. But, you only call me Patrick. I'm your uncle as well, aren't I?"

"Yeah."

"But you don't call me Uncle Patrick. Why?"

Melody wrinkled her nose. "Because calling you Uncle Patrick would be weird. Just like calling Cho Kimball would be weird. Cho fits him better."

"You're very right." Jane agreed. "Cho does fit him better."

Author's Note: So, that's it for now. I'm hoping to write a lot more soon. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and it made you smile. Let me know what you thought! See you guys at the next chapter! :3
