A/N: This chapter is more like a preface because it's so short. I've included this as a start alone chapter, because this is a born again story and this chapter provides a little bit of a look into the type of mindset of my OC.
Chapter One: A Different Life
I used to belong to an American army family. During the first few years of my live my father used to work in offices in different bases, while my mother worked as a Navy engineer. Since my father was in a fixed location during most of the day, he was the one who was assigned to look after me during the day. However, when he was returned to active duty, my mother was forced to resign so that she could look after me. She would still be called in when the base was short staffed and I would be left at the local cresh, but at least there was someone there to look after me the majority of the time instead of leaving me to my own devices as my father had done.
Before my fifteenth birthday I had moved to ten different army and navy bases: Fort Rucker (Alabama), Camp Navajo (Arizona), Camp Beala (California) Sierra Army Depot (California), Hurlburt Field (Florida), Fort Gordon (Georgia), For Riley (Kansas), West Point (New York), Fort Lee (Virginia) and Qunatico military Reservation (Virginia). I was forever grateful that they never moved to one of the bases in a different country, only moving around America, because that meant that the education differences wasn't great (particularly in regards to language and history). However, moving around so much meant I had gotten good at adapting to new environments and schools. I had also gotten used to living with the bare minimum of things since it was easier then lugging a lot of luggage between states.
I entered collage on a literature scholarship, and payed my way through by working as an online book editor and as a babysitter. Instead of going on to join the Army or Navy like every member of my family before me, I went on to become an Advertising Accounts Executive while writing books on the side.
Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that I loved literature, I loved reading, I loved writing and I was very good at adapting. Which, I suppose, was a really good thing when I woke up in a world of fiction.
