Hello everyone! It's nadillaandlaprasthefireandice here and back with some more updates! A quick news, I can access to through my college and dorm Wifi since their ISP traced all the way back to Australia. Thank you Australia!
And life has been rough as I am in second year in college to do my degree and hopefully I survive this ordeal. So, please enjoy this chapter.
I may need your help to sign a petition I have made to lift the ban in Malaysia at Care2 Alert. I appreciate your support and help for all of this. Writing and reading keeps me sane just as much as those people who love drawing francs.
So, let's roll with the chapter.
After lunch, the program was continued as the children are going to learn how to write some sentences about their favourite part of their chosen books. Needless to say, Waylon is impress with how the children can pick up so easily. Back when he was barely four, all he could picked up were swear words his aunts used to call him or labelled him as.
He didn't realised that he would need it much later in the future.
He watches how the children begin to write their sentences in their individual notebooks. Funny how he used to hate writing all the long sentences back in school when he had to write an essay. Also, all of the teachers hated him so it was hell for him.
But here…he didn't know how the children could find writing things in a paragraph like a homework could be fun. Maybe he's been out of touch with the outside world ever since he was a sideshow freak.
Speaking of which, he hopes the people of the circus are not looking for him. He was the only freak in the show while others were acrobats, clowns and animal tamers.
Being with Kayla is both a blessing and a bother. The latter is about him trying to be like her but it doesn't seem to fit. He's not a book person. He just reads what's easy for him. Fighting and surviving are the two key skills he posses which serves him better.
He supposed that books function the same way as well.
He can't help but chuckle at how the five year olds are trying to pronounce certain words that he himself could find complicated. But for kids, he finds them cute with how they at least tried to say the word out loud. Pretty much any adult would but secretly because they don't want their ego to be damped.
He's kind of curious to know what kind of books these kids are reading nowadays. Peering over, it looks like a long book but the cover had a very colourful and bright picture of weird looking monsters. In fact, he would have imagine himself to fit in on that little island in the picture book where all the monsters lived while the little boy in a cat suit becomes their king.
"I have never seen this book," Waylon murmurs. All the books he knew since he was a kid were his aunt's bible books and magazines. The children who notices the crocodile man reading their books over their shoulders started to point to him some pictures that they like in the book.
"This monster is awesome!" a seven year old boy exclaims, showing Waylon a horned monster with a mane like a lions's. Whoever wrote the book, Waylon thought he made the monsters appealing to the kids despite their scary features.
"This one looks like a goat!" a six year old cries.
"One looks like a girl!" a little five year old girl giggles at one of the monsters.
Waylon can't help but smile. These kids are so innocent and full of wonders unlike the kids he grew up with. That was still before Kayla came into the picture and brought him something he had been neglected of: love. Here, he's united with the girl who had showed him kindness when no one could and now he wants to pay her back.
Because he feels like he hasn't given her anything at all. All he ever does was accept her love but it's still not enough!
Hell, her family even put up with him. He wonders if they feel any burden of having him around the house. Because he remembers how some people act nice just to satisfy the other while on the inside, their true feelings said otherwise. Waylon wishes for a safe haven where he doesn't have to pretend to be what society deems him to be. If he wants to act like a beast…then so be it but with Kayla, he wonders if he could be both.
Physically and metaphorically.
Soon, the children are almost done with the program. Waylon could detect their parents coming to the library to pick them up. He reckons they will not have the same reaction as their children if they see him. Hell, it would make the whole program a disaster!
Waylon stood up to hide but the kids plead him to stay. They like him. But he shook his head in protest. The kids aww with disappointment. Little did he know, Kayla had her hand to cover her mouth, to prevent herself from smiling at the sight. Waylon just doesn't know how endearing he can be sometimes!
"Sorry, kids," Waylon gives them a reassuring smile, hoping not to scare them with his serrated teeth. "I have to go. But I'm sure I'll see you guys again." He didn't want to reveal to the kids how adults can judge a person based on their looks so easily just because his doesn't fit into the norm.
The kids sigh but nod.
Waylon just hides somewhere between the tall shelves of books that are taller than his actual height. He peers over to watch how the kids are so excited to meet their parents and tell them about their activities today.
He chuckles, knowing their parents won't believed their children telling them about a tall, buff crocodile man that spent time with them. It would be quite a tale to tell but since children can get away with most things, Waylon's identity is safe.
Once the children and their parents left, Waylon comes out of his hiding spot. It's almost evening, a time for Kayla to finish her shift. He waits for her patiently at the corner where the exit it. Now that the children are gone, he has to wear his hood up or else things will get ugly.
Ironic, isn't it?
When Kayla's done with her shift, she takes the crocodile man's hand in hers as they walk out together. The town is still bustling, most of the vehicles are heading home. The sunset is beautiful as the colours are a blend of orange, red and even pink. Kayla admires the sunset, as if it was saying the day is done and she has achieved something. She applies this as well to Waylon who not only accompanied her to work but to entertain the children as well.
He would make a wonderful father.
"Kayla?" Waylon's voice breaks Kayla from her thoughts. She looks up at him, noticing how he tilts his head in confusion. He can be adorable sometimes, he just doesn't know it!
"Yes?"
"What are you smiling about? Was it the program today?" Waylon asked.
"Yeah…" Kayla looks away, hoping the crocodile man did not see the small blush on her face. "The children seemed to like you."
"Probably because I'm bigger than an average man," he snorts. "After all, no one has ever seen a giant man with crocodile looks."
"Still," Kayla leans into him as they walk home. "You managed to pull it off. I have never seen the kids so happy before."
Waylon said nothing but think about the event he experienced today. It had been an interesting day for the both of them. Maybe there's still hope in this world for someone like him. But that's only a grain compared to the whole world who have no problem hunting him down.
But today with the kids and watching how Kayla handled them, he could never feel more proud of her. She would make a wonderful mother.
He on the other hand, would be a terrible father.
Aw, Waylon sure beats himself up, huh? Well I guessed when you're born abnormal along with torment to season the soul, you would feel the same way. Even when a perfect, kind person comes into your life, your past still lingers. I know this is short but a storm is brewing up in the next chapter as a blast from the past comes to visit.
So I will only update when I'm in university or in my dorm. Other than that, the MCMC banned this site due to 'pornographic and incestual content' just because some parent complaint her child was reading something.
Rather than tackling the illegal sites or at least teach your kid, you banned on a harmless site where people want to release their stress and imagination!
Sorry if I am ranting but their excuse and reasons are stupid! It's like saying the government wants us to be pure so they banned harmless sites. Yet...why do we have erotic romance novels and thriller genres that HAVE. THE. EXACT. SAME. THING?!
So, thank you for being patient with me and hope we Malaysia authors get this site back.
Don't forget to review! I love those comments you gave me.
