Hey! Looks like we are almost close to the end of the story. This is getting sad as I am about to graduate with my degree and I am going to Australia to do my Masters as an English teacher for my international school here. I may be slower than most people but I am getting there.

Also, I've found someone who shares the same love for stories, wildlife, animals and nature. He may be far away in another timezone before we meet but I hope thinks work out. I care about him. SO, let's see the story!

Along the ride home, Kayla didn't want to pressure her boyfriend into telling her about what he had done to his own father. She understood that it was his business and he has to deal with it alone.

She can't imagine her own dad abandoning her if her mom was pregnant.

Waylon seems to be the stronger man both physically and mentally. Yet from the way he carries himself after meeting his father, Kayla could tell that he was disappointed in him and the fact that his father may not be the Husband-Of-The-Year to his mom.

She didn't say a word during the ride but places a hand on his knee. She wants him to know that she has his back and will always love him no matter the circumstances. In a world where corruption, greed and narcissism polluted the air, a bit of kindness was something rare since more people are busy trying to survive rather than living the moment no matter what statues or financial stability they are in. But there's no point to slow down when the world is moving fast in a flash.

Right now, the road to go home was the only thing on her mind. That and probably help Waylon find some place to work where they will accept him for who he is or look over the fact that he was born with those scales.

It was a lot to think about, considering that Kayla does have a few things to do when she gets back. She could really use a hand around the library but not Waylon.

He needs something that could put his strength to good use.

She might have to rack her brains for it but she felt so tired after the drive. The crocodile man peered at her from the backseat with concern on his face. "Kayla, why don't I take over? You can sleep at the passenger seat."

"Oh no! I don't want you to get caught," Kayla shakes her head, trying to fight off the sleepiness that took her. 'She's going to kill both of us if she keeps going,' the crocodile man thought to himself.

He places his large hand on her shoulder, telling her to pullover somewhere. There's still time for them to rest before continuing their journey. He doubts that there's anyone tailing them from behind.

After all, he could smell them.

They decided to rest for a night at a motel before heading home to Kayla's parents, In the room, the crocodile man is flipping through the newspaper. He yawns, reading the same headlines for each page that consists of corruption, rallies and sometimes crimes.

The only light-hearted page was the funny comics.

While his girlfriend was in the showers, he wonders about what sort of work could he do and how will he do it if it means presenting himself as a walking monster to most people?

"Other people," he snorts, thinking of a milder way to describe his feelings for the society he lived in. He wants to believe that there are good people like Kayla but the majority aren't.

Plus, it's bad enough that no one else has the same conditions as him so it will be hard not to judge what he had done.

"What am I going to do?" he asks himself, tracing each ad wanted page. He really can't imagine himself doing something as stupid or tedious as an office job in a big company or as a waiter in a fancy restaurant.

He leans back into the bed, staring at the ceiling. He ponders about what just happened. Waylon would never imagined that he killed both of the people who were supposed to care for him. His aunt was as good as gone while his dad went from a powerful man to a snivelling coward to those bigger than him.

Closing his eyes, he drifts off into his sleep.

...

Next morning, both him and Kayla had coffee and some pastries. He told her about how he wants to find work yet can't picture himself in most career paths that a normal man would do.

"That is tough," Kayla agrees while taking a bite out of her meat pie. "If we can't find it in the papers, let's try and take a look online or on TV."

Waylon tilts his head in confusion. "TV?"

Kayla explains that there are some jobs that seemed weird but works well. What better way to present it than on television. By flipping through some channels, maybe they could find a bearable job for the crocodile man.

"You used to work at the circus wrestling crocs, right?" she asks.

"Gators, actually," he corrects her.

"Gators, right! So that means that we got to find something you could put your strength to use. Maybe you'd be good at fighting."

Waylon was silent as he listens to his girlfriend's idea. Maybe it might work but will people be willing to see him or recognise him for what he had done?

So, both couples decided to flip through the channels of the television in their motel room, hoping to find something that Waylon could do. Both of them stopped at a particular sports channel where the whole match was taken place underground.

People in masks and different outfits came to fight each other until one conquers the other. The show then presented the contestants, saying those who progressed will be fighting in other parts of the world, underground or not.

But what was really important was that the fighters must keep their identities and persona a secret behind their masks and outfits.

Both couples exchange glances, smiles forming on their faces. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Fuck yes I am," Waylon grins, showing his rows of teeth. "But I want them to do something for me."

"And what's that?" Kayla asks, hugging him by the waist.

"Let them introduce me as Killer Croc."

Ah, now you know where I got that line from! And yes, I've seen the movie and it was amazing. I think DC should stick to be rated R since their games and comics are like that. But who am I to judge? Anyways, if you are wondering where in Australia for my Masters, I'll be in Perth!

So, hope things are well for you as they are for me. If not, let's struggle together, you are not alone and if you want to suggest ideas for more one shots for Kayla x Waylon or even my other reptilian character pairings, PM message me or review down here!

Your reviews keep me going!
