Just as they finish the conversation about it; the temperature in the room shifts, and as Kerry looks across the room at the door. She braces herself, as a familiar face appears. She almost drops her drink; she is mesmerized, and thinks she may be dreaming. But the fact that other people see him too, lets her know she's not dreaming.
He walks in, dripping with confidence and sex appeal. She watches, as he goes from person to person speaking to them, and greeting them with hugs and hand-shakes. As he makes his way over to her and the cast of ladies, she hears, "Damn he's fine." With a cosign by others too. Kerry turns and sees Bellamy is the initiator of the statement. She can't explain it, but she is suddenly thrown by her comment.
She feels her temperature rising, and her knees knocking as he approaches. She knows she has to get out of there. She simply isn't ready to see him in this moment. Her body is betraying her, and she hasn't said a word to him yet. She looks at Katie suddenly and says, "I will be right back ladies; please excuse me." She turns and heads to the bathroom expeditiously.
After standing in the mirror for several minutes; she's trying to get it together. Why is she freaking out? He may not be the lead. He could be a director, or a producer on the show. It's too early to panic; she thinks to herself. Her reaction could be an overreaction to the situation, but something tells her she is on the right track.
However, she knows regardless of what's going on, staying in the restroom all night isn't going to work. She needs to calm down. "Damn it Kerry. Pull it together." She says to herself. After feeling more settled, she takes a breath, freshens up her lip gloss, and goes back to the party. As she re-enters the room.
People are beginning to get settled in their seats. She doesn't see Tony anymore. But she sees Katie waving to her to sit by her. So she claims the seat. As she sits down, Katie says, "I didn't know you knew Tony Goldwyn." She replies, "Uhm yeah, we worked on some political campaigns, and hosted some rallies together. Why?"
Katie smiles as she says, "Because he was looking for you, and looked disappointed that you disappeared." Kerry is freaking out inside, but responds, "That's nice of him; he's a nice guy. Did he say why he was here?" She grins as she excitedly replies, "Yes girl; he is the new male lead. Shonda just announced it, while you were gone." Kerry is beyond happy she is sitting down. Because if not, she's sure she would've fell down. Could this really be happening? It can't be. She thinks to herself; how is she going to deal with this?
Her haze is broken, as Shonda takes the stage to grand applause. She greets the crowd and then introduces some producers and directors, who will be working on the first season. Kerry looks to see if Tony is on stage. But she sees he's not. She sighs as she tries to wrap her head around what she just heard.
She snaps herself out of her mini mental breakdown moment. She asks herself; what difference does it make if he is her love interest on camera? She's a professional, she's worked with men she'd had a romantic affiliation with before, so this will be no different, or so she thinks.
She again comes back to reality as a result of someone tapping her on the shoulder; she looks over and sees Katie. She hears her say, "Hey Kerry, we have to go on stage." She replies, "Oh, sorry." Katie responds, "That's okay. I get nervous in these instances too." Kerry smiles at her as she gets up and follows the ladies backstage. She's attempting to calm her nerves, she's not sure why she's so anxious, but she is. As Shonda announces their names and their character names, they all fill the stage. Kerry is saying a silent prayer; she knows her turn is coming soon, and there's a room full of people watching.
Shonda calls the supporting cast members first, and one by one, they all go out on the stage. The women enter from the left, and the men from the right. As more people fill the stage, she knows her turn is coming up. As she stands alone she takes a breath, and when she hears Olivia Carolyn Pope, will be played by Kerry Washington; followed by Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III, played by Tony Goldwyn." She walks putting one foot ahead of the other, until she hits the stage.
When she sees him coming toward her, he's smiling as always. His hair is absolutely perfect, and that smile. My God that smile. Of course his attire is nothing short of hot, as his fitted light blue open collar shirt, with a navy jacket and slacks combination hangs off of his body so perfectly. He looks fantastic, and she can't take her eyes off of him as he approaches.
He sees her walking in his direction, and his heart skips a beat; damn she is so beautiful. He thinks to himself. The way her dress fits her petite frame, accentuating her round bottom, and sexy legs. He can't stop staring. But most of all her sensual doe eyes, and captivating smile displayed behind her luscious lips, and her sensual tongue. Man what this woman does to him should be criminal. He hasn't touched her yet, and he's almost on tilt already.
As they meet in the middle of the stage to applause; they smile at each other, and hug, as he kisses her on the cheek. The embrace is quick, but impactful. As he takes her into his arms, she feels the power in them. She takes in his cologne, and she closes her eyes for a moment, as her head goes into his chest. He also takes in her fragrance, as he envelopes her into his grasp, and she melts into him. The feeling for both of them is unanimous; its home, it's where she belongs, and as their embrace breaks, they look at each other, and they both know it.
The crowd loves them, and their stare into one another's eyes is broken by the cheers and applause. They take a bow as they hold hands, and after the applause end, they stand next to each other, still holding hands. It's not until several moments later, she realizes he hasn't let her hand go. But instead of dropping his hand she steps closer to him, seeing that Jeff was standing in front of them; she knew he'd block anyone from seeing their hands. Tony looks down at her and sees what she's doing.
He smiles at her as he whispers, "You could've just let go of my hand." But she replies, "Never." They smile at each other, and it feels right. He mouths, "We need to talk." She nods, "I know." They've talked before, but this time she feels like the talk could be different. Regardless of what's said, she knows they need to have a discussion, and she's ready for it.
