If Hermione were to talk about all the qualities which Fleur has which makes her to brilliant, she would be talking forever. Everything about Fleur is brilliant and Hermione cannot just choose one factor of the blonde which is her favourite. She is kind, caring, loving and brave. She is the pillar of strength which Hermione needs when she needs support, and she is also the rock which keeps the brunette grounded. He is everything which Hermione didn't know that she needed. And Hermione is the same for Fleur. Fleur loves everything about Hermione.
There are many factors of Fleur and there are many layers of the blonde which you have to peel to be able to see her true self. From the surface, she simply seems like a haughty Ice Princess who seems to deem everyone else beneath her but if you truly pushed past that mask which Fleur puts on display, you will realise she is everything but that.
You will find that she is someone who cares so much for others. It has been taught ever since she was young that she was expected to lead the Veela clan once her grandmother steps down and she is responsible for all the veela in Europe. That itself is a huge responsibility and so Fleur built up a personality which evolved around that.
Family meant everything to her and even though she may show some annoyance to some of her relatives, she will protect them with her life if it comes to it. She will easily sacrifice herself for one of her veela members or relatives, something which not just any average person would do. Her family is especially precious to her and Hermione has seen first-hand just how much she adores her younger sister. Gabrielle has told Hermione many tales of her and Fleur's childhood.
Turns out, Fleur used to sneak Gabrielle out of her room and out of the house to go swimming in the lake in he veela estate, something which was wonderful for the younger veela has she always enjoyed feeling her sister's supporting hands as she taught her how to swim. She also told Hermione how once Fleur once invaded a Quidditch game between their male cousins because she refused to allow just boys to play, and she ended up outplaying them all and even caught the golden snitch before their older cousin could. And that was when she was just ten years old.
Fleur is also incredibly protective and that is why her icy persona has been adapted. She has to constantly look out for any threats which may come to her, her family, or the clan and so she adopts an unapproachable persona as a means of protection. Yes, she knows that it often leads to her being disliked by others, but she does not care as it is a way she can protect herself and her kind from any kind of threats. Although, she has always been on the rather spoilt side, so it was not all that hard to adapt the haughty side of the ice princess persona. She could be a real cold woman sometimes.
Fleur is also remarkably intelligent, being some kind of child prodigy herself as she was growing up as she was able to adapt her magical abilities very easily. She was already capable of mastering the basic first year spells when she first attending Beauxbatons, so she decided to seek out knowledge like herself, going to the library and finding her older cousins to teach her more advanced spells, impressing them and her professors with her quick learning capability.
She was basically the French blonde version of Hermione in France.
If you keep peeling back the layers of Fleur, you will also find that she is incredibly playful. If she cares for you, you will find yourself being at least once a victim to her shenanigans and you could never stay too mad at her because her delighted smile and brightened eyes just seem too worth it to stay mad at her for.
Hermione has learnt just how playful the blonde is, often finding herself being pinned to a bed, couch or floor and forced into an all-out wrestling match which the blonde wins at every time. Fleur is a fan of play wrestling and even though Hermione is not the most athletic person, she simply sucks it up because hearing Fleur's laughter during the wrestling, as well as seeing her smile and her bright blue eyes shining down on her, Hermione just can't imagine putting a damper on her mood. A happy Fleur was the best Fleur to have.
She is also a fan of chasing and hunting and often Hermione runs away from the blonde to just be pursued by the veela, a mixture of terror and thrill filling the younger witch as she runs away. She remembers the one time she and Fleur were spending time in the Gryffindor common room, which has almost become the second home to the blonde with how often she is in there, and Hermione was busy sucking a Lollipop which she had kept in her own secret stash of muggle candy that her parents don't know she has because with how finicky they are with sugary treats because of their occupations.
Hermione and Fleur ere sharing a couch, each leaning on the opposite arms rests and their legs entwined in the middle, each reading their own books which they had decided to occupy their time with. Hermione had naively pulled the lollipop from her mouth, prompting a small pop to interrupt the silence between the two of them and then the cheery flavour of the lollipop coating her lips which she unconsciously licked.
She suddenly felt a really heated gaze on her and she slowly lifted her eyes up to see darkening blue ones looking at her, a smirk slowly crawling along the blonde's face. Hermione knew that look on Fleur's face and she immediately tensed as she saw the dark glint which flashed through her eyes. Quick as a whip, Hermione suddenly shot off the couch and all but threw her book and Lollipop away as she sprinted for the door, immediately hearing Fleur chasing after her as she shoved through the Gryffindor students which were coming into the common room and all but sprinted down the corridor with Fleur laughing behind her.
"I'm going to catch you mon amour!"
"Not on your life!"
It didn't even take that long before Hermione found herself get swept up into strong arms and then pressed against a pillar before lips claimed her own, tongue entering her moth without hesitation to taste the cherry flavour of the lollipop Hermione had.
But there is one thing which made Fleur different. Her definite X-Factor that made her stand out from others.
A veela is a creature which is made up of feelings. While they are the distant cousins of sirens, they are so much more in-depth with their feelings and emotions than other creatures. They value love above everything and no matter ho hard they may act indifferent, they all search for that one particular person which will make them feel whole. Where they feel they can finally let go of all the strings they hold that keep them together.
And Fleur's X-Factor was shown when she first showed Hermione her true form, one where she was not hiding from her heritage and showed her true veela self.
It was when Hermione was in Fleur's bedroom, spending the holidays with the French family for the first time and it was just filled with the moonlight which seemed to luminate Fleur's body as she crawled backwards off of Hermione, her eyes never leaving those honey gold orbs as she took a few steps back away from the bed to stand in the middle of the room.
Fleur closed her eyes, letting out a deep breath before her form slowly began to shift. Feathers began to spout along her skin, slowly like the ocean water along the sand. Along her hairline, neck, shoulders, arms, abdomen and legs, the shimmering of golden feathers began to shine in the moonlit room. A small sound could be heard and then Hermione watched as wings suddenly spouted out of Fleur's back, resembling that of angel wings which fluttered slightly before settling behind the blonde. Fleur opened her eyes, and those blue orbs were now replaced with golden ones, her eyes on Hermione as she didn't say a word, simply letting Hermione see her in her truest form.
It was a great deal for a veela to show their true form because they take on their natural form, not a mid-shift of emotion such as anger or desire, but one of complete contentment, one where the veela no longer feels the need to hide. And she was now showing it to Hermione, the only one t ever see her like this.
Hermione knew just how big of a deal this was and she knows how self-conscious a veela gets when they first show their true form because they do not look like their normal beautiful selves when they transform. They look more birdlike than human and with Veelas being very prideful creatures, they were showing their very vulnerable sides to show their true form. Fleur was vulnerable and offering her true self to the younger witch.
And Hermione knew what she had to do.
Without looking away, Hermione slowly got off the bed and took slowly walks to the blonde, those golden orbs not leaving hers for even a second. Hermione walked until she was right in front of the blonde and then slowly reached up to cup her cheek. It was soft, the feathers feeling smooth under her hands and Fleur's cheek was slightly more tensed than it usually is, clearly another effect of the full transformation as their muscles became more defined.
But Hermione did not bat an eyelash at it. She stroked the blonde's cheek with her thumb, and she saw how Fleur's eyes fluttered at the sensation, her wings fluttering as well at the soft touch. Fleur opened her eyes again and stared at Hermione and Hermione looked at her so sincerely and lovingly that the blonde had no choice but to believe the words which the brunette said.
"You're so beautiful."
And just like that, Fleur knew that Hermione was the one for her. She didn't say a word as she just scooped the younger girl into her arms, letting out a purr as her wings came around them and served as a feathery fortress, keeping them in a warm cocoon as Hermione hugged Fleur back. Hermione accepted her for who she is and that is the biggest deal that any veela can have.
So, Fleur may have very factors that make her Fleur Delacour, but her X-factor to Hermione was the fact that she can lay herself bare to the brunette and to not worry about any judgement or disgust. She was just Fleur when she was with Hermione. Her true form is what made her stand out to the brunette. Just soul being her true self is what makes her different from others. Her true form is what makes Hermione love her so much more and represents the acceptance between the two of them.
