She feels bad making her mother worry, so she says, "I understand mom; I am sorry for worrying you. But I am doing well, and I am excited to see you tomorrow." Her mother replies, "Yes dear your father and I are excited to see you too."
Kerry smiles at the idea of her parents coming to see her; she settles into the conversation, and gets the details of their visit. She's happy to know they will only be in LA for a few days. They have to get back because her mother is overseeing a summer program for inner city kids.
Her mother beams as she shares with her how proud she is of the work she does, and is excited for her to see some of it. The conversation is good; her father joins the conversation. Her dad is hilarious, he always makes her laugh, and she loves hearing him praise her. She's a daddy's girl for sure, and proud of it. The call ends with her smiling and still giggling from her dad's silliness.
When she looks up; she realizes she's alone. He's still gone. The idea of how complicated her life is dawns on her once again. She hates that she has to separate her life this way. She wants to tell her family the truth about her and Tony. They know him; but not the truth about them. Her mother has even stated how attractive he is, and inquires about how he defies age.
She'd give anything in this moment, to show the world how much she adores him; but she can't. She's grappling with her reality as best she can, and is trying to hold it together. She hears him in her head saying; "We could make it work. It will be hard at first.
But eventually it will work out." She knows he believes what he's saying, and she believes in him. But Hollywood is fickle, and the idea of the embarrassment that would plague her career and her family is too much to bear.
So here she sits; in love with a man who is publicly known as another woman's husband, and privately known as her love. She wishes she had the courage he has; the strength to say to hell with it. But she doesn't, and she's grateful he understands her position. Although he doesn't like it; he deals with it, just to be with her.
Her thoughts break, as Josie sniffs her hand. She's trying to get into her lap. She leans back, and takes her into her arms. She rubs her belly, and hugs her, as she sits on the couch, waiting for him to come back. She wonders what he's up to, and hopes he returns soon.
As Tony finishes hanging up the last of his things; he puts his bags away. He's glad he decided to fully furnish the unit; at times like these, furniture comes in handy. As he sits on the bed; he falls into thought. He can't be too mad; he signed up for this, the moment she told him he couldn't divorce Jane. But he always forgets how hard it is for them to coexist, when her family is around.
Her mother doesn't miss much; he's surprised she hasn't called them out yet. Something tells him it may just be a matter of time before the bomb goes off. But for now; he will continue to keep up the charade. The one act he wishes he could end. If only she'd let him. He knows the love he has for her will conquer anything and everything; if she just believes. But he doesn't want to push her, or fight with her about it. Something is better than nothing; he tells himself.
A knocking sound on his door breaks his thoughts. He wonders who it could be. When he opens the door he sees her standing in the hall, holding Josie, and looking a bit nervous. He smiles at her as he says, "Come in babe." She steps inside, and puts Josie down. She then stands up and pulls him down to her to kiss him. They share a deep and sensual kiss.
She looks at him and says, "I've never said thank you for doing this for me. I'm so sorry. I appreciate you T, and I love you very much." He looks at her with some surprise; she's right. She's never thanked him for agreeing to this before.
He also is a bit caught off guard because he feels like she's reading his mind. She sees the look of shock on his face and asks, "What's wrong?" He responds, "I feel like you're reading my mind. I was just thinking about us, and here you are saying this to me. It's a little shocking, that's all."
She replies, "I guess we are more connected than we thought; I've been thinking about us since you left. I talked to my parents, and after the call. You're all I could think about too. I know you hate our situation T; I do too."
He takes a breath as he says, "I know you do, and someday we will be able to be us publicly. But for now it's our secret, and I'd rather have you privately, than not at all. I couldn't bear not having you in my life." Her eyes soften, as he swoops her up into his arms, and they kiss deeply. His love for her is amazing; she's never known a love like this, he's truly the love of her life.
She appreciates his love and support; he feels her appreciation, and they share a sweet kiss to seal the moment. When the kiss breaks; they smile at each other, and walk over to the couch where they have a seat. He asks, "So when will your parents be here?" She replies, "Tomorrow mid-morning."
He responds, "You know that you aren't shooting tomorrow; we are just doing the table read, after the re-shoot." She responds, "I know; they will be fine just seeing the set. They don't have to see an actual scene." He smiles as he says, "Do you really believe your mother is going to come from New York to LA, and not see you in action?"
She thinks about his question, and realizes he's probably right. Both of her parents are going to want to see her in action. She looks at him as she says, "I really didn't think this through." He responds, "There was no way you could Kerry; you didn't know they were coming until today."
She replies, "True, but you're right. Mom is going to want to see some action. So that could mean them staying for a week." He replies, "A whole week huh?" She sees the angst in his face, as she says, "I know it will be difficult babe. But we can do it."
He responds, "Yeah, we can. Maybe I will invite Liz out here. That way I can keep myself preoccupied." She replies, "Yeah that will be good. She can bring Tess and Anna too." He nods in agreement as he says, "A family week of sorts. I like it."
For the first time since she found out her family was coming; she is now smiling. He touches her face, and she presses her face into his hand. She whispers, "I love you so much." He replies, "I love you too," As he pulls her into his lap, and they begin to kiss.
