When Rohan is in danger and thousands of Uruk-hai march on Helm's Deep, an army of elves comes to the aid of king Théoden. However, they are not alone. Amongst them there is a young elven girl with red-burning hair. As a woman in armor, she attracts the attention not only of the king himself, but also of his niece, Éowyn. And as you know, all's fair in love and war.

CanonCompliant*When Minas Tirith is evacuated during the War of the Ring, Idrin, sister-daughter of the Steward Denethor, remains in the city to continue serving at the Houses of Healing. With her work as a healer and her duties in the Citadel left nearly unaltered, things feel as familiarly quiet as ever. Yet, oftentimes the occurrences that touch one's life are rather unassuming.

There were many happy occurrences when the War was finally over; alliances were made, marriages celebrated, and Realms rebuilt. But not everyone had a happy ending. Love cannot mend all things, cannot give everyone the future they crave or even deserve. Duty to the homeland comes above all else for many in Middle Earth. For two in particular, this was a bitter reality.

Over the years, a rider of Rohan and a lady of Dol Amroth endured many trials, and they did not emerge unhurt in mind and spirit. But the Houses of Healings in Minas Tirith is indeed a blessed place and so aptly named.

This is a rather ambitious project I've been working on for nearly a decade now - it's an 'affectionate parody' of Cormac McCarthy and imagining his sort of biblical apocalyptic prose style in a fantasy genre. Astute observers will notice references to Hamlet and Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones particularly on the reality of madness. Yes, video games can be literature. Shut up, Dad.
