It's mid-day and Kerry is in her trailer preparing for her next two scenes. It's the one's she and Tony have rehearsed and talked about repeatedly. She's feeling nervous, and she's trying to settle her nerves. Despite this being a scene she had concerns about originally.
Her anxiety can be tied more to a recent phone call, Tony got from Jane. Although they've talked about it. It's still sitting with her, and she's yet to really let it go. The timer on her phone goes off, and she knows she has to be ready to go on set soon. No time to wrestle with personal demons right now. It's time to show up, and be professional.
After saying a prayer and meditating to calm herself. Her second timer goes off, and she starts dressing for the scene. She looks at herself in the lingerie and has to admit, she looks good. She gives herself a wink and a smile, and finishes dressing. Just as she walks out the door, her phone buzzes.
She looks at the text message and sees the words, "We've got this. I love you." She smiles as she replies, "I love you too." He knows her too well, and always responds right on time.
A knock on the door interrupts her thoughts. "Ms. Washington, we are ready for you." She opens the door, as she takes a breath and steps out on faith as she says, "Good, I am ready too." She follows her escort to the set, and the scene that seals the deal for her character's love for her mate begins.
As they sit on the bus, and the dialogue plays out. Normally, Kerry is deep in character, and she doesn't really connect with herself in those moments. But this time, the dialogue is so familiar that she can't turn herself off. She's completely connected in every way.
From the moment he starts confiding in her about his marital woes, it feels like déjà vu. As she looks at him, she sees him. He's connected too. They know this is familiar territory for them, which is why it feels so right.
Just as in their real interaction, in this scene he's freeing his mind about his situation, and she's allowing him to bend her ear. It's innocent enough, except her heart breaks for him. He's trapped in a situation where, he is involved with someone, who is incapable of loving him the way he deserves to be loved. Someone he simply doesn't love any more, and is questioning how or why he loved her in the first place, because he hasn't felt loved by her for several years.
When he realizes he's divulged much more than he intended, he's embarrassed to a degree. Because it wasn't his intention to talk so much. But he finds kindness in her eyes, and a level of security that he's never felt with anyone else, so he trusts her implicitly. When he speaks the phrase, "Why didn't I meet you sooner? What kind of coward was I to marry her, and not wait for you to show up?"
The moment of silence of her character in the scene is welcomed, because she's not sure if she could speak right away. The words and their delivery, take her to the instance she found herself falling for him, but she knew he was still legally married.
The love and sincerity in his eyes, his brutal honesty about his feelings for her, and his situation, as well as the subtlety of his motions are what captured her heart then, and it's happening now too. Just like then, in this instance he can have whatever he wants. Because their love transcends the moment, and their circumstances.
His words are spoken so sweetly, and so sensually and feel so real and comfortable, neither of them can ignore what they are feeling. She feels a fire in her that raises tenfold, as the level of intimacy they experience increases.
As she grips is fingers between them on the seat, the instant connection is unmatched by anything she's ever felt with anyone else. His touch causes her heart to flutter, as she sees the love for her fill his eyes as she looks deeply into them.
The silence is fitting, as they both try to calm their thoughts racing through their heads. He thought he'd be able to keep things settled, but now he's not so sure. It's like someone peeked into his life and wrote about it, now he's starring in his own life in front of millions of people. He knows she's trusting in him, to keep them on track. But he didn't know that he'd feel this way, and he's not so sure he can keep them from going too far. But it's too late to pull back now.
As the second half of the scene starts; Kerry is feeling the result of the build up to the next scene. It's the one that worries her the most. The one where she's almost naked in front of everyone, physically and emotionally. It's a situation she's never been in before, but she's trusting in Tony to guide her through it, despite her seeing he's as vulnerable as she is.
As the scene begins, they round the corner. As they walk together, Kerry says to herself, "here we go." In the moment standing outside her hotel room, she flashes back to the first time they were standing together in this way. The way he's looking at her now, reminds her of that point in time.
Ironically, just like then, she didn't let him in her room. She refused him entry, but after an arousing phone conversation between them, she found herself at his door, and shortly after that in his bed for the first time of many to come.
So in the scene, as he gives her the freedom to choose what to do, knowing that she, like her character likes to be in control. She summons the feelings of that instance, and responds appropriately with decisiveness and feeling the power behind her decision to go into his room.
As she walks toward the door, he watches her from behind as he follows her. He sees her walking with purpose, and just like their first time he knows that him making it her choice to take things further between them, is one reason she took advantage of the situation presented gleefully.
Summoning the passion he felt for her the first time they were together, and trusting himself not to fall too far off the reservation during the scene, is a challenge he isn't sure he's going to be able to pull off. But, he is going to try, and see where it leads them.
When the door opens and closes, she's in his arms and their tongues are dueling for dominance. The level of passion is so significant, they can barely keep it together. He surprisingly lifts her up, and presses her against the wall and she moans as she feels him at attention between her thighs. Even through their clothes, he can't hide what he wants to give her, and she can't hide what she wants to receive.
