He grins as he replies, "Wow, really?" She replies, "Yes! Can you believe it?" He nods as he says, "Yes, I can. Because you deserve it, and you're amazing. They'd be fools not to offer you a deal. Congrats Ker! Wow, Cover girl, Neutrogena, and now Movado. That's fantastic!"
She grins as he gushes over her; she loves how happy he is for her. It always makes her feel like she's unstoppable, with him in her corner. She sees his joy and knows it's genuine. He takes her hand, and she says, "Thank you for being you babe."
He grins as he replies, "You're welcome love. I am extremely proud of you." She smiles as she says, "Awe, thank you babe." He replies, "You're welcome beautiful. Did you tell your parents yet?" She responds, "No, I haven't told anyone yet, but you."
He smiles as he says, "Okay, well, you should call them. They will be stoked. When do you start shooting?" She replies, "I'm not sure. I guess in a few weeks, since it's their summer campaign. Robin will call me with the details."
He nods as he says, "Makes sense. I was hoping we'd get away to the house in the hills for a bit this summer." She replies, "We still can honey. I don't think the shoot will be more than a few days." He says, "Yeah, but that's just Movado. You still have Neutrogena to shoot, and Cover Girl is next week right?"
He knows her schedule better than she does; hearing him talk about it. SHe didn't realize how busy she is. He sees her in thought, and he strokes her face. She comes out of her haze, and sees him smiling at her. He says, "We will figure it out Ker. It's okay." She responds, "I do want to go with you babe. I want to spend time with you there. I'm sorry; I didn't realize I was so booked."
He smiles as he says, "I know Ker. It's cool. You're in hot demand, and that's great. You should be. You're beautiful, sexy, smart, and very marketable. Don't worry about us getting away, we will find the time here and there."
She loves how supportive he is, and how he always looks for solutions to anything that comes up. He can always find a resolution. A though pops into his head, as he gazes into her eyes. He says, "Hey, what if we go to the house this weekend? Then we can come back before your Cover Girl shoot."
She looks at him, trying not to show any panic on her face. She doesn't want to give away the surprise party, set for tomorrow. So with the straightest face, she can muster, she says, "Sure, we can go Saturday morning."
Her response confirms his suspicions, about there being a surprise party looming. He doesn't want to bust her bubble. But he can't resist messing with her. So he says, "Okay, sounds good. So what are you doing for me tomorrow?"
She plays along, as she says, "What do you mean? Is there something special about tomorrow?" He laughs as he says, "Oh, you're funny." She smiles as she says, "I am taking care of you tomorrow kind sir. I have the day planned, for us to sleep in, and then it's a day of fun in the sun."
He smiles as he says, "Really? What kind of fun?" She responds, "You'll have to wait and see, nosey." He smiles as he replies, "Is it sex on the beach? You know, I love that."
She giggles as she says, "You are incorrigible." He replies, "You can't blame me for being me." She smiles as she says, "I guess you're right. But I love you regardless baby." He responds, "I love you too Ker."
They share a kiss that sweetens the moment, and then she grabs the dessert. His face lights up, when she puts the small white ramekin down on the table. He says, "Wow babe. You made my favorite." She smiles as she says, "Yes, I called Liz to get the recipe. Happy early birthday baby." He replies, "Thank you babe." They share another kiss, and continue to laugh and talk, as they eat their dessert.
After they finish their desserts, he helps her start loading the dish washer, until his phone rings. She sees the look on his face, and knows by that look, and the ring tone, it's Jane. He takes a breath, and she says, "If you don't answer.." He interjects as he says, "Yeah, I know. She'll just call back."
She feels terrible, that he has to continue to deal with her, like this. He looks at her, and then looks at his phone, and she says, "Put her on speaker." He says, "What?" She responds, "Just do it." He says, "Okay."
He hits the answer button, and puts the phone on speaker, as he says, "Hello." The voice come through loudly, and overly aggressive. She will never get used to her voice, it's hard to describe, but very distinct. She says, "Oh, you actually answered. I was expecting voicemail." He sighs as he says, "Okay, so what's up?" She responds, "I see she's influencing your speech now too huh?"
He shakes his head, as he looks at Kerry, and before he can respond, Kerry says, "Jane, this is Kerry. I have one question. Are you going to get to the reason for this call? Or are you going to attempt to bash me for the next twenty minutes?"
He's in shock; he didn't expect her to say anything. Truthfully, she didn't expect to say anything either. But she couldn't help herself; she just opened her mouth, and the words came out. The move obviously stunned Jane too; because they all were now standing in an awkward silence.
The silence is broken, by Jane saying, "This isn't about you Kerry; despite what you may be thinking. But for the record; I can call him whenever I want. You can play house with him, if you like. But he's still my husband, and the father of my children. So he will always take my calls, can you say the same?"
Kerry is livid, she loses her cool, and Tony sees it coming. He wants to stop her, but he can't. Before he can intervene, she replies, "Prove it Jane. Get to the reason you were calling, if it wasn't to try to chastise him for us being together. Inquiring minds want to know why you've been leaving messages on Tony's phone ranting about absolutely nothing for weeks, and then you expect him to call you back. For what? What exactly is he calling you back for?
