Max POV
When we were "introduced" to the newest member of the flock, I was concerned. How could they do this to a newborn? The last newborn girl we had gotten was Sria, who had died when she was three or four. At least, we thought she was dead. The whitecoats tossed her in and locked the door. "Are you all right, little one?" I asked, purely out of maternal instincts. I wasn't expecting her to talk yet so I was shocked when I heard her answer.
"I feel kind of tired, actually. All that running is hard." She said rubbing her eyes. Man, she already had her first superpower? I couldn't believe it. I felt like could shoot someone in the heart with an arrow, even though I don't know how to use one.
Angel POV
Max seemed perturbed by the fact that the new girl was talking, so I tried to get in her thoughts. What do they have planned for her? Is she going to die like Sria? Max thought that the whitecoats were monsters for mutating children. "I don't think she'll die, Max. I can sense some kind of power around her. Almost as if she's different, even for mutant standards." I didn't know what they had planned for her. Maybe I could snoop around the whitecoats' minds. I'm sure it will Max feel better about it.
