SmackDown Filming: June 28, 2011
Randy and I laid in the locker-room together. I was in a pretty bad mood after Kharma's attack and CM Punk's words last night, and I don't think Randy was much better. And despite the fact my birthday is later this week, I can't keep myself in a good mood. The silence was nice though. Unfortunately, I needed to know what tonight's plans were, so I needed to break it to ask Randy.
"Sorry to break this peaceful silence, but what are you doing tonight?" I ask quietly. "Do you have a match?"
Randy softly chuckles. "It's okay. I'm wrestling Mark Henry at the beginning of the show. Also, I believe Jay and I have a contract signing at the end of the show for the World Heavyweight Championship match at Money in the Bank."
"Oh yeah. I kind of heard about that. Jay supposedly lawyered up for it. Usually, I absolutely adore Jay, but he's let this stuff with the World Heavyweight Championship get under his skin too much. I was thinking about seeing if Teddy Long would let me read over the contract before the signing tonight. Since Jay has a lawyer, I feel it's only fair."
"I don't have to pay you to do it. Right?"
"You can pay with sex."
"Okay. Good. I love you."
"I love you too."
"How are you feeling?"
"Well…"
"That's about what I figured. It sucks for you though. It's only Tuesday, and this week has been horrible to you."
"And of course my birthday this week."
"Be positive. You get to see your younger brother."
"That's about the only positive I got going right now."
"I'm sure it'll get better. I'm going to see to it that you are spoiled for the rest of the week. You're gonna be treated like a princess."
I crack a smile. "Thanks, Randy."
"Yep. Anyway, I'm going to the ring to face Mark alone. You use that time to try to see the contract. I'm totally down for you coming to the contract signing though."
"Okay. Works for me."
I watch as Randy leaves to go to the ring. I slowly and quietly walked towards Teddy's office. I quietly watch as Jay hands Teddy a contract for the match at Money in the Bank. Jay walks out. He passes me, but I don't think he noticed me. I watch him before walking into Teddy's office.
"So…" I say. "Teddy…"
Teddy smiles at me. "Yes you can read the contract."
"Really? I thought it was going to take a lot more than that to get you to say yes."
"Well, Christian's got a lawyer, so I think it's only fair."
"Oh. Okay. I just thought I'd have to fight for it a little bit."
"No, I completely understand. I honestly assumed that if Randy didn't walk in here wanting to look at the contract then you would."
"Well you assumed correctly."
"Here is your winner, Randy Orton!" I hear from the TV in Teddy's office.
I look up at the TV for a second and smile as I see Randy celebrating in the ring.
Teddy hands me the contract. "Here you go."
I put on my reading glasses and start reading the contract. I hear Randy walk in.
He puts an arm around my shoulders. "So…?"
I sigh. "Nothing yet."
He kisses my cheek. "That's good."
I look over at him. "You're bleeding on your nose a little."
"Oh shit. Oops."
"Go take care of it."
"Will do." Randy leaves to take care of his nose.
I continue to read the contract. Randy soon returns.
"What the hell is this?" I ask.
Randy and Teddy both look over at me.
"What is it?" Teddy asks.
"There's a clause in here that says if the referee makes a mistake, then Jay gets an automatic rematch."
Randy leans over my shoulder to read it himself. "What the hell?"
"What now?" I ask Teddy.
Teddy sighs. "I think we just have to accept it since he has a lawyer."
"Now," Teddy says as he, Christian, and Christian's lawyer are in the ring. "Please welcome the current, reigning World Heavyweight Champion, the Viper, Randy Orton!"
I hear voices in my head
They council me
They understand
They talk to me…
Randy and I head to the ring. As we stand on the side of the ring, Randy glares at Christian. Randy holds the ropes for me to enter the ring and follows in behind me. As I go to head to our side, Randy stops and gets in Christian's face. Randy holds up his championship.
I grab his arm. "C'mon, let's go to our side."
Randy and I head to our side. Randy lays the World Heavyweight Championship across the table.
"Alright, gentlemen." Teddy says. "If you would take your seats."
Both Randy and Christian sit down. Christian's lawyer stands on Christian's left while I stand on Randy's left. Teddy Long is standing next to Christian's lawyer.
"Gentlemen, this is the official contract signing of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view." Teddy says.
Christian picks up his microphone. "Just so you know, Teddy, and so you know, Randy, my legal counsel has reviewed this contract and there's a clause in there that clearly states if the referee makes a bad call yet again, I receive an immediate rematch, no questions asked."
I roll my eyes at Christian.
Christian continues. "So, Teddy, you tell your lackeys in the black and white stripes to do their job or else we'll be back here doing this yet again. I will not be screwed over. I refuse to be screwed over. I deserve to be the World Heavyweight Champion. Randy, I know I can beat you even though nobody else thinks I can."
Randy leans in closer to Christian. "There's a reason for that."
"You shut up! You shut your mouth! I beat you less than two weeks ago on Raw! I pinned your shoulders to the mat. I beat you last week in a Tag Team match. I've put you on your back on more than one occasion. Teddy Long can't save you anymore! These crooked referees can't save you anymore! And the WWE brass can't save you anymore because you're their golden boy and screwing the boss's daughter!"
My eyes go wide. Randy grabs my hand as he continues to glare at Christian.
Christian glares back at Randy. "The truth of the matter is this, Randy, and look me right in the face! The truth is this! You can't beat me! And at Money in the Bank, I'm going to prove it!"
Randy finally speaks up. "You know, Christian, there was a time, back when this all started between you and I, where I actually enjoyed facing you in this ring. A time when I actually respected you. We had a great match…a great match. And I beat you. We had another epic match and I won again. And the more I beat you, the more you beg and you plead for one more match. It's comical. It's comical. But now, all of this, all of this, it's starting to make me angry. And as you know, I've had problems in the past managing my anger. But, Christian, congratulations on lawyering up and getting yourself another title shot. But a lawyer isn't going to get you the World Heavyweight Championship. No. No. In order to get this bad boy right here, you're gonna have to beat me. And, Christian, that will never ever happen." Randy puts his microphone down and immediately signs the contract.
Christian takes the contract and goes to sign it, but his pen won't work. I can't help but let out a small chuckle. All of a sudden, Sheamus runs in, gunning straight for Randy. Christian and I both quickly move out of the way, with me being only inches away from being caught in the crossfire.
Sheamus flips the table over. He throws Randy's chair out of the ring. Sheamus then gets on top of Randy and starts beating on him. Christian goes to get Sheamus off of Randy and gets nailed in the face as well. Sheamus then nails Christian with a Brogue Kick. Randy attempts to RKO Sheamus, but Sheamus counters it and nails Randy with a second Brogue Kick. Sheamus yells at both for a few seconds before tearing up their Money in the Bank contract. As Sheamus tears up the contract, I pick up the World Heavyweight Championship before running over to check up on Randy.
