Chapter 3: A Visit and a Proposal in Fireworks
Piper's POV:
It was weird how Jason had left so suddenly from the topic about yesterday. I decided not to think about it after our conversation from last night. It was almost 5:30, so I decided to head back into the cabin and change. The cabin was empty, seems all of my siblings already left with their dates to the firework beach.
I took a quick shower and picked out an old red and blue striped tank top, but was stopped by a sudden visit by my mom.
"MOM"
"Piper dear, why scream?"
"Um because, you just popped into the bathroom while I was trying to wear my clothes?"
"Huhh.. Oh.. yeah. Well, dear I just wanted to visit and see how my daughter was doing."
"I am doing good, but if you would step out of the bathroom, I will wear my clothes." I started taking my tank top when a high pitched scream made me drop it.
"WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WEAR THAT TODAY!" it was totally like her to say something like that.
"Mom, today is like any other day. Only with fireworks tonight. You are being very unreasonable with your screams when you just told me to not scream for you popping into the BATHROOOM when I was trying to dress."
"Ahem, Piper dear, don't you have a date with Jason."
"Yeah, so? You never popped in for the previous ones."
"Piper, for this day, can you please wear a dress. I am begging and I never beg and that is saying something." [cough..cough..]
I rolled my eyes and said "Fine, only because you decided to care this one time about my life."
"Don't be silly, I always cared about your life."
"More like you cared about my love life." I muttered whiled she transformed my towel into a gorgeous soft flowy white dress with a v-neck not too deep. My hair was let down in waves. I also had a necklace with a silver hollow circle in the middle, which I'm not gonna lie, liked secretly, but was stubborn to admit to my mother. My ears with tiny silver studs as earrings. I looked at the mirror and stared at myself. My mom made sure to not make me look overdressed. I looked simple and Piper-like. My mom was squealing beside me. Before I can comment on the squealing, I heard a knock on the door.
"Thanks for the makeover, Mom. I appreciate that you made it simple." She gave me a mom hug and disappeared. I thought I saw her eyes shining with tears? Something strange is going onnnn.
I opened the door and there he was, wearing a long sleeved white t-shirt and cargo shorts.
He was as handsome as ever. The setting sun casted a shadow on his tall form. His blue eyes wide as he saw me.
"Piper you look gorgeous!" I blushed.
He cleared his throat and asked in a British accent as if we were going to a ball "Are you ready my lady?"
"Of course, Mr. Grace"
We chuckled at our British accents, ironic at this situation, and made our way to the beach. He held my waist as I leaned the side of my face on his shoulder. This moment seemed right and I had this weird feeling that today would be the best day ever.
Jason's POV:
Piper looked very beautiful today. Not that she isn't everyday. But, it seems as if she knows the occasion and dressed for that purpose. But I seriously doubt that with what happened yesterday. We passed the mess hall and were about to reach the Fireworks beach and I could feel my side pocket getting heavy. The ring. Almost everyone in the camp knew. Especially the Aphrodite cabin. I begged them to keep quiet until I propose.
The fireworks were about to start when Piper asked "Do you ever imagine your life without me. Like how it was before we met and how it would have been?"
"You would know the answer for that Pipes"
"Do I?"
"Yes you do" I said and then just when the first fireworks went off on the sky, I pulled her into a long sweet kiss.
"I guess I do" she said smiling. She brought the cornucopia with her and spread it on the picnic blanket. I saw a champagne bottle and asked her if she wanted some. She nodded.
[Okay, so I think this is a good point to tell you that they are both 22 years old]
When she was looking up at the fireworks, I slipped the ring in her glass. I handed it to her and stared at the fireworks with her. Noticing that she was about to reach the ring with the next gulp, I started "Piper McLean, life would never be normal for us but I want you to be beside me each and every minute to make all those times normal, so I guess what I am trying to ask is will you do the pleasure of taking the name Mrs. Grace?" I saw her eyes go wide staring back at me and the ring. She began to cry with what I guessed to be happy tears. I could see the other campers staring at us, the Aphrodite campers yelling "JIPER, JIPER." Wait..Jiper? Is that our names mixed together. [Yes, Jason]
And then she said "YES!" After then did she say that I took my breath not realizing that I have been holding it. I took the ring from her glass and slipped it onto her finger. I stared at her kaleidoscopic eyes and kissed her in that moment. She would now be my fiancee. It had a ring to it. [Hehe Pun inteded. I know I am awful]
Piper's POV:
My hands which never had any jewelry on them, now it had a multi-colored gem encased on the golden band.
After the fireworks, Jason walked me to my cabin. His eyes on my ring finger.
"You know that ring looks beautiful on you"
"I like it, not too flashy and not too simple, just like our relationship" "That reminds me, did you tell my dad about this?"
"Yeah, I did"
"When?" I asked not too surprised. Jason being the gentleman he always respected the elders and his peers, although his strict behavior has changed after the war.
"Last mission, at California"
"I didn't get to ask your mother though. But, I figured she would know being the goddess of love." said Jason
"You are not wrong. In fact, I think you have her blessing. She dressed me up today and I think she is very happy. What do you think we should do now, we have to decide on housing, wedding planning and more"
"We have all the time in the world, Piper."
I could see the happiness in his eyes by the way he said that. I can't help but smile back at that.
