I woke up in bed alone. I get up and look around for Randy.
I look around in the hallway. I peek in our bathroom. Nothing. I then happen to pass the entrance to the balcony. Randy is sitting out on the balcony with a cigarette. I smile before running downstairs to make coffee.
I make the coffee and fill up Randy's favorite coffee cup. I quietly walk back upstairs. I open the door to the balcony. Randy looks over at me.
"I made you coffee." I say quietly.
"How did you make it?" He asks me.
"Black coffee. That's how you usually take it. I can make it differently if you want."
"No. This is what I wanted. Thanks."
I hand him his coffee. "Here. I can go if you want to be alone."
"If you're still tired, go back to bed, Rissa, but I'd prefer you staying out here."
I sit next to him. "I'll stay out here with you."
Randy smiles and puts an arm around me. "Good. Sometimes I wake up for a little bit and sit out here. But usually I go back to bed because you never wake up when I'm out here."
"I had no idea about that. I just sleep."
Randy puts out his cigarette and starts drinking the coffee. "I've been doing this since before you moved in. Though a lot of the time we were in Saint Louis while dating, you stayed here anyway. You just never noticed while you were with me."
"Because I like sleep."
He lets out a small laugh. "Yeah. But if you happen to wake up while I'm out here again, I'll never have a problem with you joining me. I might tell everyone else to let me be alone, but you're always allowed."
"Okay. That's nice to know."
"Of course you're allowed. Is it just me or is this like the most we've ever felt married since getting married?"
"I think you're right except when we consummated the marriage."
"This is nice though. We don't just sit and relax together that often."
"That's because you always bring up sex."
"There's nothing wrong about that."
"I know. But that's why."
"Okay, Rissa. If that's the excuse you wanna give."
"It's not an excuse. We had sex like five times yesterday."
"That was because it was your birthday."
"If I allowed it, you would do it everyday."
"Maybe."
"That's true, and you know it."
"Whatever, let's be a normal couple for like twenty minutes and read the newspaper."
"Okay."
Randy smiles as I cuddle up against him. "I love you."
"I love you too."
About an hour later, Chelle comes out on the balcony.
She smiles as she looks at us. "You two look comfy. Anyway, are you eating breakfast soon? Because everyone else is eating now."
Randy looks at me. "We should probably eat."
I nod. "Yeah."
"Anyway," Chelle says. "Real quick, we had an idea for a video for the YouTube channel for you two. Would you be interested?"
"Well, what is it?"
"The Newlywed Game."
"Hmm. Sounds interesting."
Randy smiles at me. "I'm in if you are."
I nod. "Yeah. I'm in."
"Sweet!" Chelle exclaims. "I'll see you inside."
She goes back inside.
Randy looks at me. "This will be fun."
I smile. "Yeah. Really fun."
I eat breakfast at the table with Randy. I smile as I feel his hand linger around my waist.
"I love you." He whispers in my ear.
"I love you too." I whisper back.
I notice the others watching the two of us.
"You two are adorable." Eve says.
I smile. "Thanks."
Randy and I finish eating, and he snatches my empty bowl to wash before I can say a word.
"Anyway," I say. "How are we doing this Newlywed Game?"
Maryse smiles. "You and Randy are going to play against the only other married couple here."
I look over at Chelle and John. "You mean I get to kick their asses? Hell yes."
"You aren't kicking our asses." John says.
"Wanna bet? Y'all may have been married longer, but Randy and I have known each other longer."
"Still won't beat us." Chelle comments.
"Randy!" I yell to him. "These assholes think they can beat us in the Newlywed Game."
I hear Randy laugh from the kitchen. "Nah. We'll win."
"Okay." Maryse says as the camera starts rolling. "We are going to play the Newlywed Game. Randy, John, leave for a few while we ask Rissa and Chelle questions."
"Okay." John says before leaving the room.
Randy kisses my cheek. "Love you. Kick her ass."
"Gladly." I smile. "Love you too."
Randy smiles before leaving the room.
"Okay...first question." Maryse says.
"Okay." I say. "Bring it."
"What is one thing you do that drives your husband bonkers?"
"Stress out too much."
"The way I fold laundry." Chelle answers.
I look at her. "Really? Still?"
"Yeah. It's annoying."
I laugh. "Sounds like it."
"When your husband cooks for you would you say the food is spot on, or would you sign him up for cooking school?" Maryse asks.
"Cooking School."
"Spot on." Chelle answers.
"Surprising."
"Which one of you brought up the subject of marriage first?" Maryse asks.
"Randy."
"John." Chelle answers.
"What is the one material thing your husband owns that means the most to him?" Maryse asks.
"His Championships." I answer.
"His jerseys." Chelle answers.
"What will your husband say that he loves about you the most?" Maryse asks.
"Having sex with me." I answer very smugly.
"My personality."
I roll my eyes. "I can't stand your personality."
Eve, Ted, Maryse, and Cody laugh.
"Someone let Randy and John back in." Maryse says.
I open the door. "Come back in, assholes."
John rolls his eyes before walking back in.
Randy kisses me. "I might be an asshole. But I'm your asshole."
"Okay." Maryse says. "I'm going to repeat the questions I asked Rissa and Chelle. Randy and John, guess what they answered. If you are correct, you get a point."
Everyone nods.
"Bring it." Randy says.
"Be prepared to lose." John says as he looks at me and Randy.
"What is one thing you do that drives your husband bonkers?" Maryse asks.
"Stress out too much." Randy answers. "Rissa does that way too much."
"Correct."
"Laundry." John answers. "I hate the way Chelle folds it."
"Also correct."
"There you go." Chelle says.
I roll my eyes.
"When your husband cooks for you would you say the food is spot on, or would you sign him up for cooking school?" Maryse asks.
Randy laughs. "Rissa definitely said cooking school. I'm rarely allowed to cook."
"Correct."
John chuckles. "Chelle also said cooking school."
"Actually incorrect. She said spot on."
"Damn."
I look at Randy. "Good job."
Randy smiles. "Thanks."
"Which one of you brought up the subject of marriage first?" Maryse asks.
"Me." Randy answers. "Definitely me."
"Correct."
"I did as well." John answers.
"Also correct."
"We're still winning." I whisper.
"What is the one material thing your husband owns that means the most to him?" Maryse asks.
"Championships." Randy answers without thought.
"Correct."
"My jerseys." John answers.
"Also correct."
"Come on, John." Chelle says. "We have this."
"What will your husband say that he loves about you the most?" Maryse asks.
"The sex." Randy answers.
"Correct. Only you two would both think that."
"Her personality." John answers.
"Also correct. Rissa, Chelle, get out for a few. I've gotta ask the boys their questions."
Randy's POV
"When it comes to shoes, would you say your wife prefers heels, flats, sandals, or sneakers?" Maryse asks.
"Flats." I answer.
"Heels." John answers.
"Is your wife always late, always early, or always right on time?" Maryse asks.
"Early." I answer.
"Early." John answers.
"Where did you take your wife on your second date?" Maryse asks.
"We just drank wine in our hotel room and called it a date."
"The movies." John says.
"What state will your wife say you were you born in?" Maryse asks.
"Tennessee." I answer.
"Massachusetts." John answers.
"Who said, "I love you" first?" Maryse asks.
"Me." I answer.
"Me as well." John answers.
"Okay." Maryse says. "Let's get Rissa and Chelle back in here. Rissa, Chelle, get your asses in here!"
They walk back in.
Rissa looks at Maryse. "Who said you were allowed to yell at me in my own house?"
"Randy didn't say I couldn't."
"Hey." I say. "I didn't say you could so leave me out of it."
Rissa chuckles before kissing me. "Thanks, asshole."
"No problem."
"Okay." Maryse says. "I'm going to ask you two the same questions I asked Randy and John."
"Bring it." Chelle replies.
"When it comes to shoes, would you say your wife prefers heels, flats, sandals, or sneakers?" Maryse asks.
"Flats." Rissa answers.
"Correct."
"Heels." Chelle answers.
"Correct. Is your wife always late, always early, or always right on time?"
"Early." Rissa answers.
"Correct."
"On time." Chelle answers.
"Incorrect. John said early."
"We just won." I whisper to Rissa.
"Damn right." Rissa comments. "They said they would and they were wrong."
"Where did you take your wife on your second date?" Maryse asks.
"Wine in the hotel room." Rissa answers.
"Correct."
"The movies." Chelle answers.
"Correct. What state will your wife say you were you born in?"
"Tennessee." Rissa answers.
"Correct."
"Massachusetts." Chelle answers.
"Correct. Okay. Last question. Who said, "I love you" first?"
"Randy." Rissa answers.
"Correct."
"John." Chelle answers.
"Correct. Let me calculate the points real quick…"
"Rissa and Randy won." Eve says. "They literally got every question right."
Maryse rolls her eyes. "Okay. Rissa and Randy win. Congratulations."
Marissa's POV
I laid next to Randy in our room. "How are you doing?"
"Alright. I guess." Randy replies. "Won't be entirely fine until everything is solved."
"I see your point. What are we going to do about Vance?"
Randy sighs before pulling me closer. "I'm not entirely sure. I guess find out if he's biologically mine or not first. Maybe get ahold of Cami's sister. I don't even know what to do, Rissa."
I nod. "I can't blame you. I'm honestly feeling the same way right now."
"The boxes?"
"Yeah."
"I can go get them if you want."
"I don't know if I-" I get cut off by someone knocking on our bedroom door.
"Who is it?" Randy asks.
"It's Tyler." I hear my older brother reply. "Y'all got a minute or two or should I come back later?"
I look at Randy. "Um…do you want to?"
"Yeah. We should talk to him." Randy answers. "You can come in, Tyler!"
Tyler slowly opens the door. "Can we talk?"
"Be more specific. Is this like a you and me talk, a you and Rissa talk, or a you and both of us talk?"
"I want to talk to both of you."
"Okay. Let's talk." Randy says as he sits up.
I sit up as well and put my head on Randy's shoulder.
"Well…" Tyler says. "I would like to start by saying that I'm sorry for everything that has happened while I've been staying here with you guys and your friends. I was being quite the douche to both of you and let Cami get between my relationship with both my sister and one of my best friends, who is also now my brother-in-law, when she was clearly the problem. I should've been enjoying my time with the two of you instead. With your guys' work schedule, it's hard for me to spend time with the two of you. We should've been doing all kinds of fun things together. Instead we were having problems and fighting. I'm sorry, guys."
"It's okay. I forgive you." Randy says.
I nod. "Me too."
Tyler smiles. "Thank you. Anyway, I figured this would be a good time to say I'm gonna be out of here tomorrow after you all go to leave for work."
"What? Why?"
"I just think after everything that has gone down that it'd be best for now that I go back to my place. I'll stay tonight since you are here, but a lot of the time you aren't even here. It's been two months. I'm going back to my place. This may upset you, but I'm not mad at you or anything. I just think it's time for me to go back to my place."
I nod. "Okay."
"Also what are we doing with Vance?"
Randy sighs. "I don't know. Honestly, I haven't said anything about this to anyone except Rissa, but I don't think Vance is mine. I want to get him paternity tested and then go from there."
Tyler nods. "Yeah. I didn't want to say anything, but the kid looks nothing like you."
"I've noticed."
"Yeah. Anyway, do I need to watch Vance until the paternity test can be done?"
"If you can while we're at work at least, that would be nice. He can stay here until we figure something else out. We have more room for him here then you do at your place anyway."
"Okay. That works."
"Wait." I say. "What if he works while we're gone?"
"I do work Tuesday, but I have tomorrow off."
"Then we'll figure something out." Randy says.
"But what?"
"Isn't John and Chelle gonna be here on Tuesday?"
"Probably. Why?"
"Then we'll just ask them, and we'll be back either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning."
"Okay then."
"There's actually one more thing I want to talk about to you, Rissa, but I don't know if you want to talk about it or if Randy knows about it." Tyler says.
"If it's about the boxes from Mom, then we can talk about it, and Randy does know."
"Oh okay. Have you opened yours? Colby told me what was in his."
"No. Honestly, I am kinda scared to."
"Because it's probably letters? Because I did get letters too."
"Yeah. And I have two."
"Really? That's a lot."
"I know. I just worry about what was said."
Tyler nods. "I get it. I know she wanted to explain everything to all three of us, but, sometimes, people aren't ready for the answers."
"Yeah. It's weird because I only have a few memories of her when we were kids because I was only three when she left. Plus, the last conversation I had with Mom before she died was us fighting."
"At least you spoke to her. I never went to see her when she extended the invitation. Do you regret that being your last conversation with Mom?"
I feel tears in my eyes. "All the time. Do you regret not going to see Mom?"
Tyler nods. "Absolutely."
I start crying a little bit. "I wish I could've done things different."
Tyler pulls me into a hug. "Me too, but we can't change how things happened. Plus, Grandma did tell us at the funeral that Mom was proud of you."
"True. You know if she had known what you were doing she would've been proud of you too."
"Yeah. I was going to go buy fireworks to set off tonight if you two were okay with it since you won't be here tomorrow and it's the Fourth of July tomorrow."
I look at Randy. "Randy?"
Randy smiles and gets out his wallet. "Honestly, I was considering going to do that myself, but it'll save me some time if you go do it."
"Oh okay. Thanks."
Randy hands Tyler some money. "Here's fifty bucks. Make it a good fireworks display."
"Will do. Thanks, dude."
"No problem."
"I'm gonna go do that. See y'all in a little bit. Love you."
"Love you too." Randy and I say.
"Do you want this door shut?"
I wipe my eyes. "Yeah. Thanks."
Tyler shuts the door and leaves. Randy pulls me back into his arms. I put my head on his chest as he rubs my back.
"Randy?" I ask quietly.
"Yeah?" He whispers.
"When we're done with fireworks tonight, give me the boxes. I think it's time to open them instead of worrying about them."
Randy nods. "Okay, sweetheart."
Tyler rides with us as Randy and I drive to drop Colby off at the airport.
"Call or text me when you get to Florida." I say to Colby.
"Why?" Colby asks.
"I just want to make sure that you make it safely."
"Okay whatever. You turn twenty-nine, and all of a sudden you're acting maternally now."
"Colby, I mean it. Text or call me. Okay?"
"Okay."
Tyler chuckles. "By the way, Colby, it isn't because she turned twenty-nine. It's because she's married now."
"I'm gonna smack you when Randy parks the car, Tyler." I comment. "By the way, it's probably because I'm a stepmom. Not like either of you know anything about marriages and children anyway."
"Touche."
Randy rolls his eyes. "This is why I didn't invite my siblings."
I chuckled at Randy. "At least your sister is tolerable."
"Fair enough."
"But your brother…well…"
"He's a pain in the ass." Randy parks the car at the airport and pops the trunk of the car. "Colby, you need help with anything?"
"Nope." Colby opens his car door and exits the car. "Thanks though."
"No problem."
Colby closes his car door and starts to get his luggage out of the trunk. Tyler opens his car door and exits the car to talk to Colby.
"You okay?" Randy asks me.
"Yeah. I just wish we could've done more with Colby before he had to leave." I reply.
"Rissa, he'll be back soon enough. By Tyler's birthday or sooner."
"I guess you're right. I'm gonna go say bye. You coming?"
"Right behind you."
Randy and I exit the car as Colby closes the trunk of the car.
Colby hugs Tyler. "Bye. I'll be back for your birthday."
"Okay." Tyler replies. "Better get me something nice for my birthday. Bye. Love you."
"Love you too."
Randy hugs Colby. "Stay out of trouble, kid."
Colby laughs. "I'll try. Bye, Randy."
"Bye."
Colby hugs me. "Keep an eye on that husband of yours, he seems like trouble. Actually maybe keep an eye on Tyler too."
I laugh. "Okay. Maybe next time, all three of us siblings can go do something."
"I'd like that. Bye, Rissa. Love you."
"Bye, Colby. Love you too."
Colby walks inside the airport. Randy, Tyler, and I get back in the car and go home.
I lean on Randy as Tyler starts setting off fireworks. Randy wraps his arms around me.
I smile. "Is tomorrow going to be the first holiday we're spending as married?"
Randy thinks for a moment. "I think so. The first holiday as married, but we'll spend the rest of our lives celebrating holidays as married. Maybe after a while, there will be more than one child around."
"You have been thinking about that a lot. Haven't you?"
"Yeah. I love the one child I have already to pieces, but I keep thinking about having more. Vance came around, but we're almost certain he isn't my child. And then seeing Chris and Morgan expecting again…I just…it made me want that."
I look up at him. "Honestly, I want it too, but, unfortunately, I'm not in a position right now to do that. I'm Divas Champion. But as soon as I lose it, no matter when that is, I think we should sit down and plan that out. Find a way to have a child."
Randy kisses my forehead. "I would love to do that."
We stand together with everyone else in peace, watching the fireworks together.
