When Whitley woke up, he had the feeling like he was being watched. He looked around his room and saw someone. "Who's... Oh. Hey Geoff."
"It's time ta get up."
"Okay." Whitley said getting up and stretching.
They made their way to the training room.
"Okay." Geoff said. "Just like we've been doing all week. Do as many of each exercise as ye can."
Whitley started doing push-ups.
Pyrrha walked in. "He has definitely improved."
"Yeah. Can ye believe tha' he couldn' even do one earlier this week, and now he can do twenty."
"How did you do that?"
"I told him that he only has ta do as many of the exercises as he can in a minute. He did the rest himself."
"How so?"
"He did as many as he could in a minute. Key phrase being 'in a minute'. He does all the heavy lifting because I told him to do as many as he can in a minute, and he does."
"That's a good idea."
"Aye, that it is. When yer brothers are Scott, Jose, and Gale ye tend to think outside the box."
Jason and Weiss walked into the training room.
Pyrrha and Geoff looked at them.
"Good morning." Weiss said.
"Good morning." Pyrrha said. "I trust that you slept well."
"Very."
"Did Whitley talk to you last night?"
"No. Why? Did he want to?"
"Yes, but I'm afraid that he did not get the chance to."
"Why?" Weiss asked feeling uncomfortable.
"It would appear that you and Jason were rather busy at the time."
Comprehension dawned on Weiss's face, and she blushed furiously.
Weiss looked at Whitley and left the training room.
After Whitley's exercises he went to get ready for the day.
On his way to the shower, he saw Jason. He felt around his back and grabbed the Tanto dagger from his belt that he'd decided to wear to his workout. He grabbed the hilt, turned invisible, and ran at Jason.
Jason sidestepped, tripped Whitley, and chopped him in the back hard enough to send him to the floor. "You'll have to do better than that." He spoke. "I could both hear and smell you. Good try though."
Whitley got up. "You're not mad that I attacked you?"
"Nope. Cliff told me about your Semblance, and that I should expect some attacks from you."
"Okay."
"Also, I apologize."
"For what?"
"For last night. That isn't a position Weiss, or I wanted to put you in."
"Oh." Whitley said blushing.
"The thing is I don't want you to feel like I'm taking your sister away from you."
"It's not like she was ever really my sister."
"What makes you say that?"
"She left the first chance she got. She always treated me like I was less, like I didn't mean anything."
"Bullshit. Your sister took you away from Jacques's control the first chance she got. You guys may have had your own type of Sibling Rivalry, but she did care about you. If she didn't then she would have left, you with Jacques."
"Do you really think so?"
"No. I know so."
"Thanks."
"For what?"
"For telling me the truth."
"You're welcome. Now go get ready. We have to be down in Mantle in an hour."
Whitley left for his room, and Jason went to get ready.
Jason walked into his room and saw Weiss sitting on his bed. "Hello."
"Jason." Weiss said.
Jason could smell her embarrassment and anxiety. "Hey?" He asked walking over to her and squatting down in front of her, taking her hands. "What's wrong?"
"Whitley saw us last night." She spoke. "He walked into my room to talk to me, and he saw us."
"Oh."
"Oh? I tell you that and all you can say is oh?"
"I'm not entirely sure what you want me to do. Do you want me to talk to him?"
"NO!"
"Then what do you want me to do? Because freaking out won't do anything."
"How can you be so calm with this?"
"We are both consenting adults. is it embarrassing that your brother walked in on us? yes, but nothing I can do will change that now. Am I embarrassed? A little, but I won't let my emotions control me, not when it comes to you."
Weiss blushed.
"Besides. At least Whitley doesn't know that you're a cougar." Jason teased.
Weiss pushed Jason back and hit him with a pillow until Jason caught the pillow and pulled her down to him. "You know I'm joking right?"
"Yes." Weiss said before laughing.
The two kissed before getting up and heading out of the room, and to the sitting room.
"Are we ready ta go?" Geoff asked.
"Where's Whitley?" Weiss asked.
Jason pushed Weiss to the side and grabbed air. "Sorry Weiss."
Weiss was about to yell at Jason, but Whitley reappeared. "Whitley?"
"Yeah?"
"Is that your Semblance?"
"Yeah. My Semblance is Nothing."
"No. It's not nothing. It's an amazing Semblance."
"I know. It's called Nothing."
"Oh. I'm sure that it will suit you."
"I'm training by attacking Jason."
Weiss looked at Jason.
"I'm okay with it."
"Okay but be careful."
"I will." Whitley said.
"I was talking to Jason."
"Oh." Jason and Whitley said.
"I will." Jason said.
"Good. Now I think that we are ready to go."
The group made their way down to Mantle, and to the Center.
Weiss and Whitley went to keep the books, Jason went to the kitchen, Pyrrha went to help people get necessities, and Geoff went to help people with their gear, weapons, appliances, and whatever else he could.
The morning went quickly, and soon it was time for lunch.
The four friends went to the kitchen where Jason made them the best meal they had ever had.
"Oh my gosh." Pyrrha said holding her hand to her mouth. "This food is better than before."
"Maybe his secret ingredient has returned." Geoff said in a suggestive tone.
"Maybe I did." Jason said winking at Weiss.
Weiss blushed.
They continued helping until the door opened, and a Faunus brought in a child who was unconscious.
"What happen..." Jason began before he noticed the mark. "Weiss." He said in a dark voice. "Stay with them. I'll be back."
"What? Where are you..." Weiss looked at the child and gasped. The child had an SDC Brand on his eye. "Who did this?" She asked in horror.
"The men in the mines." The Faunus said. "They said that my brother was caught stealing."
Jason looked at the Faunus. She had bruises in the shape of handprints on her forearms. "Come on Whitley."
"Wh-where are we going?" Whitley asked looking at the brand.
"I'm going to show you what your fathers equal rights look like."
Whitley looked at Weiss who nodded.
Whitley and Jason walked to the Mine.
Whitley could feel the tension in the air. It felt like there was a buzzing on the air.
"What you are sensing is a danger sense. It's telling you that danger is near."
"What's the danger?"
"Me."
The two made it to the mine, and what they saw made Jason's blood boil.
Humans were sitting around while Faunus were working hard. Whenever a Faunus needed help the Humans would hinder them.
"Look at that. How does this make you feel?"
"I-I don't know."
"No. You know how it makes you feel. Tell me what Whitley the Assassin is feeling right now."
Whitley thought about that. He felt something in the pit of his stomach. "I feel... I don't feel so good." Whitley said before he lost the contents of his stomach.
"Get it out of your system. You might be doing that again."
"Why?" Whitley asked wiping his mouth.
"You're going to fix your dad's mess."
"Wh-what? Why?"
"Because. You need to do what your father won't and protect the Faunus."
"But- but. I don't know how."
"No. Whitley Schnee doesn't know how. Whitley the Assassin does."
Whitley looked at his hands. He only had one week of physical training and less than a day of combat training. Then he remembered that Jason told him that he could hear and smell him. Other Humans couldn't. He turned invisible and walked down to the humans.
The three men who were laughing at the Faunus' workers were suddenly interrupted when something hit them.
"What the hell!" The first man yelled when something hit his toe.
"Ouch!" The second man yelled when something hit his shin.
The third man flung his arms out and knocked Whitley to the floor with an "oomph".
"Well, lookie here boys." The first man said. "We have a thief."
"No." Whitley said. "I'm just trying to stop you from hurting the Faunus."
"We are doing our jobs by keeping the animals in line."
"No. No, you're not. You are taking out your anger at your imperfections on people who work hard to earn their meager pay, while you sit around collecting the rest."
"How's this for imperfections?" The first man asked kicking Whitley to the floor to and stepping on his chest.
Whitley tried to catch his breath, but he couldn't.
The second man handed the first one a fire Dust Crystal who put it in his mecha-shifting Baton/Branding Iron.
Whitley watched in horror as the Branding Iron moved closer to his face. He could feel the heat getting closer. "JASON!" He yelled with his last bit of breath before everything went dark.
He looked around and saw that he was still in the mine, but saw Jason moving towards the men.
He saw Jason kick the Branding iron out of the man's hand before kicking the man, so he fell to the floor with his butt in the air.
Jason kicked the branding iron at the man branding the SDC symbol on the man's right butt cheek.
The man shrieked in agony as the red-hot metal disfigured the flesh leaving it red and scarred and causing his pants to catch fire.
Jason grabbed the branding iron and threw it at the second man branding in the center of his chest causing his shirt to catch fire.
The second man let out an equally agonized wail.
Jason grabbed the branding iron and in a fencing lunge caught the third guy in the back of the head.
The third man let out an agonized yell as he fell to the floor in the fetal position.
Whitley got up but ran to the side and puked.
"Let's get you out of here." Jason said putting his hand on Whitley's shoulder.
"No!" Whitley yelled wiping his mouth on his arm. He grabbed his Wakizashi and walked over to the first guy. "Do you like branding people? Are you a Sadist? Is that it?"
The man couldn't speak due to the pain.
"Well, I say no more!" Whitley yelled raising his Wakizashi.
Jason watched Whitley. He saw his Wakizashi shake before swinging down cutting through the first man easily.
Jason watched as Whitley cut through the others in a hazy rage.
When Whitley came to, he looked at his hands. "What have I..." Whitley ran to the side and vomited again.
"You're not having a good day, are you?"
"Wh-why would you let me do that?"
"I didn't stop you because you need to learn where your control is, so you know how not to lose control again."
"What do I do now?"
"You learn from this. Weiss probably won't like this, but they got what they deserved. Don't be like me. Be better than me."
"What if I don't want to be better than you."
"You're not me." Jason said his voice changing back to normal. He dropped to a knee and put his hands on Whitley's shoulders. "You are not me. Don't become like me. I am a monster created by my past. Use this experience and change for the better, become the man that I can't."
Whitley looked at Jason. He didn't understand. "I don't understand."
"I will kill at a moment's notice. I can kill without remorse. You saw what I did to those guys. I take no pity on those who piss me off. You can be better than me, I know it."
"How? You only met me recently. How do you know the kind of person that I am?"
"Weiss believes in you. So that means that I believe in you."
Whitley felt very tired right then.
"Come on. Let's get you home." Jason said picking Whitley up.
Weiss, Pyrrha, and Geoff were waiting for Jason and Whitley to come back.
"Are you worried?" Pyrrha asked.
"No." Weiss said. "Whitley's with Jason. Jason wouldn't let anything bad happen to Whitley."
The door opened, and the trio turned to see Jason carrying Whitley into the center.
"What happened?" Weiss asked walking up to them. She gasped in horror when she saw a blood covered Whitley. "What. Happened?"
Jason retold the story of what happened.
When he told them that the men tried to Brand Whitley for being a thief Weiss looked horrified and angry.
She walked up to Jason and slapped him. "That's for putting Whitley in harm's way." She said before picking up Whitley and taking him to the back to clean him up.
"Wow." Geoff said. "Are ye tryin' ta piss her off?"
"No. I wanted Whitley to see the lies his father spreads. I never knew that his father's men wouldn't recognize him."
"Jacques Schnee is a bastard who would probably sell his family if he could do it without causing a scandal."
"You're probably right."
The door to the center flew open and before Jason could react, he saw two swords sticking out of his chest.
"HOW DARE YOU PUT WHITLEY IN THAT SITUATION!" Winter yelled.
Jason pulled the swords out of his chest and fell to the floor before passing out.
When he woke up, he could smell Weiss. "What happened?" He asked.
"Good. You're awake." Weiss said happily. "I need you to sign something."
"What is it?"
"We should talk."
"Can you hand me my visor?"
Weiss handed him his visor and he put it on. "Okay. What do you want to talk about?"
"First things first, I want to apologize for Winter killing you."
"It's fine. I kind of understand why she did what she did."
"Second off. Winter, Whitley, and I went to talk to Jacques in the hospital."
"What? Why didn't you..."
"Calm down. We went to tell him that we were taking back the Schnee Dust Company and kicking him out of the family because he is a danger to our safety."
"I bet that he didn't like that."
"No. I'm sure that if he weren't in traction, I'm sure he would have attacked us."
"How were you able to pull it off?"
"Winter, Whitley, and I signed to have him banned from the Schnee Dust Company, and all its resources."
"How did he take it?"
"He yelled at us and told us that the SDC was nothing without him."
"And?"
"We told him that we would see. He asked us what we expected him to do now, and Winter said. 'Do what you've always done. Weasel.'."
"Wow. That's amazing."
"Yes. Yes, it was. Now would you sign these papers?"
Jason took the papers and read through them. "This says that the SDC and Todd import/export would be equally owned by the Schnee's and the Todd's."
"Yes."
"But there is only one Todd. Cliff is my Godfather and wouldn't take the name Todd even if we forced it on him. So, who's the second Todd?"
"Me. We would merge our companies through our marriage, and I would take your last name."
Jason was left speechless.
Weiss waved her hand in front of Jason's face after a minute. "Hello?"
Jason shook his head. "Can you run that by me again?"
"Yes. When we get married, I would take your last name."
"That's what I thought you said."
"Then why the 'blue screen of death.' As Geoff would say?"
"I was just shocked. After everything that has happened you want to get married right now."
"No. We would have the wedding with all of our friends and family."
"Okay."
"We do need to talk about Whitley though."
"Is he still bummed by what happened?"
"Who wouldn't be?"
"I know that I would be before my life went to hell and decided to stay."
"Yeah. So, tell me what happened?"
"Whitley gained a set of morals, and I told him to help the Faunus unlike his Father. He went down to the men and started his attack, but he wasn't strong enough, and they got the drop on him, and tried branding him. I used Penumbra Barrage to get him out of that situation, and attacked the men..."
"Yeah. Whitley told me that you Branded each of them before he killed them."
"Yeah. It was the best way to show him what a brand feels like without actually letting him get branded."
Weiss looked thoughtful. "What happened next?"
"Whitley blacked out and when he came to, he was so horrified by what he did that he became sick."
"Wouldn't anyone?"
"I..."
"Besides you."
"Oh. Then yeah. Any normal person would."
"What did you do for Whitley?"
"I told him that he needs to learn where his control lies so he can learn to control it. I also told him not to be like me."
"That's good. I love you, but I don't want Whitley to become like you. Speaking of which. Can you sign this too?"
Jason read the document. "This says that we gain custody of Whitley until his 18th birthday. I thought you said that Jacques wasn't in the picture anymore."
"It was my mother's request. She says that she needs to become Sober again, and until she does, she doesn't want Whitley to see her."
"I see." Jason thought about that. "If I sign, I don't want Whitley to not see your guy's mom. He's lucky enough to have one, and she will regret it if something happens to either of them."
"I knew that you would say that."
Jason signed the document before getting dressed for the day.
On his way to the training room, he heard a scuff on the floor. He slid to the side and spin kicked knocking Whitley across the hall. "You're getting better, but make sure that you don't make a sound."
"Thanks."
"How are you feeling?"
"I don't feel good about killing those guys, but at the same time I'm glad they are dead."
"If you fight a worthy opponent then they deserve your respect even in death, but an unworthy opponent does not deserve your respect."
"But Geoff said to respect everyone."
"Geoff is a good person. I'm not."
Jason went to the training room and began exercising. After he was done, he grabbed his weapons and did an inventory of his weapons. When that was done, he went to talk to Whitley.
Whitley was waiting to ambush Jason when Jason grabbed him from behind.
"If you are going to fight someone who can control the shadows don't use the shadows hoping for an advantage."
"Okay. Was there something you wanted to talk about?"
"Yeah. Have you ever thought about attacking the others the way you attack me?"
"No. I was just told that if I can get the drop on you then I can get the drop on anyone."
"Maybe, but you will learn more if you attack the others."
"Okay." Whitley said. "If you think it will help."
Over the next two weeks Whitley trained with every free second, he had, and got better at sneaking up on people. Geoff also kept him busy with exercises to help him build muscle. Geoff told him to do as many of the exercise as he could in a minute, and after that first week he felt like he could do more so he asked if he could try two minutes.
Geoff told him that he could, but to not overwork himself.
Whitley could feel himself getting stronger each day.
After their training they would go to the Center and help anyone that Jacques had hurt, and Whitley would get more training throughout the day.
At the end of the second week Viridian was in the foyer with a box in his hands. "I'm glad I caught ya." He spoke. "I just finished Whitley's battle gear."
"Well let's see it." Geoff said.
Viridian opened the box to show a three-piece blue suit with a dark blue Trench coat.
"How is that body armor?" Whitley asked in a raised tone.
"Put it on lad." Viridian said.
Whitley went to the Armory and changed into the suit and Trench coat.
"Where am I supposed to put my Weapons?"
Viridian walked over and opened the Trench coat to show an extra pocket that was too thin to hold anything but some pens and a notepad. He took 'Night's Blade' and put it in the pocket leaving two inches out of the pocket, and pulled a flap down covering the handle. He took the 'Assassin's Secret' and put it on the back-belt buckle. "Now for the special features. Yer clothes mask any metal ya might wear so that ye can walk through metal detectors. It's also made of a lightweight heavy-duty material that can block most blades and rounds. Jason."
Jason drew 'Scarlet' and attacked Whitley slashing from his hip to his shoulder.
"NO!" Weiss yelled covering her face.
"He's perfectly fine lass." Viridian said. "Look."
Weiss looked at Whitley and saw that the material wasn't even scuffed. "What?"
"I made his gear light yet durable. I also added other features."
"Like what?" Whitley asked.
Viridian took out a box of throwing knives and Put them into hidden pockets around the Trench coat's lining. "No assassin is complete without a long-range weapon." He opened an invisible seam over the heart on the inside of the coat and took out a small orb. "Being an assassin means that ye have ta be able ta disappear at a moment's notice." He said before throwing the smoke pellet to demonstrate. The foyer filled with thick white smoke causing everyone to cough.
When the smoke cleared Viridian continued talking. "Take off yer coat."
Whitley took his coat off and handed it to Viridian who handed it to Geoff.
Viridian tapped the cufflinks. "Don't be a daft idiot and cut yerself. This has a neurotoxin in it that will paralyze. Unless you hit them with both at the same time. Then it will kill."
"What?" Weiss and Whitley asked in concern.
"Moving on." Viridian took the cufflinks off and split the sleeve cuffs before folding them in half. The left cuff went rigid forming a Gauntlet. The top shifted into a Miniature crossbow. "This can be coated with the poison to kill or Paralyze a target or coated with Dust to gain a dust effect or maybe even just used to send a signal to yer team if'n ya need yer choice."
Everyone was shocked.
"That's awesome." Geoff said. "No. That's genius. How did ye do that?"
"Trade secret lad. Maybe I'll show ye someday."
"Thank ye."
"Don't mention it." Viridian said before showing the other Gauntlet that shifted into a hidden blade.
That's awesome." Jason said.
"Aye, that it is lad."
Whitley looked at the weapons. "How do I..."
Viridian pushed a button on the base of the Gauntlets to make the hidden weapons shift back before the Gauntlets went slack. He folded them back and creased them at the top sealing them, and putting the cufflinks back in.
Next, he opened the suit coat and showed another hidden seam. "This holds yer poison, and the one opposite..." He opened the other hidden seam. "...holds yer Dust." He reached into a hidden seam on the front and pulled out a bag with small disks about the size of his pinkie fingernail. "These are trackers in case ya need ta track someone or something. Ta activate it ya use yer scroll. Same ta deactivate it."
"Take off the suit coat."
Whitley took off the suit coat and handed it to Viridian who handed it to Geoff.
"Yer pocket watch can be used as a grapple or a weapon depending on what ya need."
"Why did you put so much stuff in it?" Whitley asked.
"You are going to need it." Jason said.
"What. Why?"
"You are a Schnee, and people are going to come for you whether you want them to or not, and when they do... you will be ready for them."
"But I don't know how to use half of this stuff."
"There's a little thing called training."
"I guess that my training regimen just got that much harder."
"You better believe it."
Whitley sighed in resignation and went to change.
Weiss put her hand on Jason's forearm. "He's only fifteen."
"I know." He said giving her hand a slight squeeze.
The next day.
Jason woke up with Weiss tucked into his side with his arm draped over her. He went to get up, but she grabbed his arm. "No. Don't get up. Stay where its warm.
Jason couldn't help but laugh at her. Then he heard a gagging noise, and he spoke. "Whitley's in here, and he's waiting to attack us."
"Whitley." Weiss said. "Why are you up at 4:00 in the morning?"
"I uh. I figured that I could attack you when you first got up." Whitley said sheepishly.
"And what if we had been involved?" Jason asked.
Whitley went quiet.
"You're blushing, aren't you?"
"Maybe."
"Just get out so we can get up."
The door opened and closed so fast that you'd have thought Ruby was in there.
Jason kissed Weiss's neck.
"No." Weiss said halfheartedly. "We have to get up."
"I don't think you really meant that."
"Yes, I did." She said in the same halfhearted tone.
"You can't fool me."
"Fine." Weiss said getting up. She grabbed his hand and they walked into the bathroom together.
Geoff and Whitley were in the training room.
"I want to try five minutes." Whitley said.
"Are you sure?" Geoff asked.
"I need to get stronger so yes."
"Okay. Do as many push-ups as you can in five minutes."
Whitley started and kept going until Geoff told him to stop.
"How many did you do?" Geoff asked.
"I was able to do one hundred." Whitley said.
"Good for you. You are improving. Next is Sit-ups.
Whitley continued his exercises until he finished all five of them.
"You're definitely making progress."
"Thanks' to you. If it wasn't for you taking over my training, then I wouldn't have made it past the first week."
"Yeah. Jason's pretty hard core. One of my brothers used ta love sparring with him because they were meant ta fight each other. Jason is an all-out powerhouse when it comes ta fightin' because he was trained ta survive. He has ta actively hold himself back when he fights, and It's like trying ta hold back water with yer hands. It's nearly impossible."
"What happened to make them stop sparring?"
"Beacon fell."
"Oh."
"In there last fight my brother was so fixated on fixing a mistake that he made that he nearly killed himself."
"What was the mistake."
"He called Jason a street rat."
"What?"
"A street rat is derogatory term fer a homeless person."
"Oh."
"Jason wasn't upset that he was called a street rat, but he knows people who grew up on the street's and he was furious."
"What did he do?"
"Did ya watch the Vytal festival?"
"Yeah. I was watching for blackmail material." Whitley said embarrassed.
"We all make mistakes we're not proud of. Did ye watch Jason vs. Scott?"
"That was them?"
"Yup."
"Jason destroyed the ring?"
"That he did."
"Just how strong is he?"
"No clue. It's not like we can gauge his power level, but we know that he has the ability to get stronger."
"Does he ever cap?"
"No idea. He hasn't shown one, but who knows."
"How do I get that strong?"
"You really don't want to know."
"Yes, I do."
"No. You don't"
"Yes. I do."
"No. You really don't."
"Tell me or I'll go to the source."
"Fine, but only because I won't kill ye for bringing up those memories that he's worked so hard ta bury in the recesses of his mind."
"Wait. Are you saying that he has killed because of them?"
"Nearly."
Whitley looked shocked.
"When Jason was young, really young, he was thrown out on the street until he was nine. He returned home ta an uncle who wanted him dead, and a Godfather who was overjoyed ta see him after three years of assumin' the worst, but he didn't go home alone. While on the streets he met two people who cared for him. One of them was killed the night he went home."
"Who was killed?"
"First thin' ye have ta know is tha' Jason's family is..." Geoff thought how best to say it.
"Weird?"
"No. Large. He has learned to accept people who accept him and call them family or friends depending on their relationship. Ruby, Yang, Tai, and Qrow are among the few that he calls family. The rest of us are friends, and your sister is about to become something more than a friend and family."
"Why?"
"Well, he's going to marry her."
"No. I know that, but why does Jason have such a large group of friends and family?"
"Because it's what I lost a long time ago." Jason said walking into the room.
"So, you're trying to get back the family that you lost?"
"No. I know that I can't get that back. I'm trying to protect the one I found."
Whitley thought about that for a second. It was a lot deeper of a response than he was expecting.
They went throughout the day like normal, but Whitley had the feeling that change was just around the corner.
The next morning Whitley was awakened by his alarm clock's ticking. It sounded louder than normal. He turned over to try and sleep, but it was no good. He tossed and turned until the ticking became longer. Only slightly, but as he listened the ticking droned on as one long tick. He realized too late what was happening. He reached for 'Assassin's Secret', but his face was pushed into the pillow, and his pillowcase was pulled over his head before he was dragged out.
The next thing Whitley knew he was dropped on the floor. He took the pillowcase off and saw Jason, Weiss, Pyrrha, and Geoff standing in the Armory. "What's going on?" He asked tiredly.
"Get dressed." Jason said. "In your battle gear. We are leaving."
"Where are we going?"
"We are heading to Haven Academy."
"How long will we be gone?"
"Till we are done."
"Why are we going to Haven?"
"It's where we will find answers."
Whitley got dressed in his battle gear and walked out.
"Have fun ye lot." Geoff said. "I will stay here ta do what I can, besides. If my cybernetics give out ye don't need ta be carryin' me all th' way ta Haven. I can also prepare."
"Prepare for what?" Whitley asked.
"I'm sure that Beacon won't be the last ta fall. CFVY is at Shade, yer heading ta Haven, that just leaves Atlas. I'll fortify it as best I can."
"Be careful." Jason said grabbing Geoff's hand.
"Same ta ye."
Weiss hugged Geoff. "Don't die."
"I won't lass."
Pyrrha hugged Geoff. "We'll see each other soon."
"Ya better believe it."
Whitley scuffed his shoe against the floor.
"I know lad, but Jason's yer trainer now. Just do what I showed ya and listen ta Jason."
"I will." Whitley said before shaking Geoff's hand.
Two more people came into the Armory.
" Before ye go." Viridian said. "Make sure that ye take care of yerselves, and Whitley."
"Yeah?"
"Yer gear has a stealth mode incase ya need to blend into the shadows."
"How do I activate it?"
"I'll let ye figure tha' little trick out." He looked at Jason. "Here ye go lad." He said handing him a box of throwing knives. "These ones are special made. They are made out of Dust."
"Thank you Viridian." Jason said.
"Don't mention it lad. Just protect them, and we'll call it even."
Jason looked at Cliff, the man who had raised him for the last eight years of his life. "I've never said it before, but uh. I wanted to thank you."
"For what?"
"For everything. You're the best father anyone could have asked for."
Cliff grabbed Jason in a hug and whispered. "And you're the son I wish I'd had."
The two left the embrace, and Viridian turned to the Weiss and Pyrrha. "Take these." He said handing them a new pair of boots that looked like their footwear. "I took the liberty ta make these fer ya. I hope that they will do better than yer heels."
"Thank you." They said in unison before taking them.
"I know that I don't seem like much, but ye both have excellent men that will stand by yer side..." He looked at Weiss. "Keep Jason here from killing himself."
"I will certainly try."
Viridian looked at Pyrrha. "When ye find Jaune make sure that he keeps his promise."
Pyrrha blushed but nodded. "I will."
Cliff looked at them. "Go on. Your friends need you."
Weiss and Pyrrha put on their new boots and the group left.
Jason started out by having them walk five miles before they took a break. After that he upped it to ten followed by fifteen, and twenty.
Once they could walk twenty miles a day Jason kept that pace making sure to take appropriate breaks throughout the day.
They would make camp after twenty miles and rest for the day. They would take turns taking watch with Whitley taking the first watch and Jason taking the last. Jason would wake everyone up the following morning and start them exercising.
Whitley would have to increase his exercises by one minute by the end of the week.
At the end of the second week Jason woke everyone up earlier than normal.
"What's wrong?" Weiss asked grabbing 'Myrtenaster'.
"We've got trouble heading our way."
"Who?"
"Raven." He said with a scowl.
"Who?"
"Yang's mom."
"Can we get out of this or reason with her?"
"No. She will try and ransom you, Whitley, and Pyrrha back to your families, but she will kill me just to hurt Tai and his family."
"Why?"
"She's a heartless bitch that doesn't care about anyone but her tribe. She says that they are her family. She abandoned her blood for bandits who plunder, murder, and rape for their livelihoods."
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to put her in the ground." Jason said, his voice changing.
Weiss looked up at Jason. "Don't die." She spoke.
"I won't."
They waited for an hour before a large group of bandits came up to them.
"Greetings." The leader wearing a Nevermore helmet said. "Leave your provisions and gear, and we will let you live."
"Here's my counteroffer. You take your tribe and your maiden ass home, and I let you live."
There was a pause as the Nevermore Queen was startled into silence. "How did you know that we have a Maiden in our tribe!" She demanded.
"Don't play stupid. That's a quality you have in spades. I know that you are the spring maiden. What. Did you deem the previous Maiden too weak to hold the power?"
"Shut up!" She yelled.
"Why? Are you afraid of the truth? Is that why you sent Ruby poisoned cookies? Because you couldn't handle the truth that Summer was a better mother than you, and if you couldn't kill Summer then you would go for the next best thing. Which just so happened to be Ruby."
"SHUT up!"
"What was the plan? Kill Ruby, Tai, and Qrow so that Yang would have to look up to you? Did you really want Yang's acknowledgement so badly that you would kill her entire family so she would have to come crying to you, Preferably on her hands and knees?"
"SHUT UP!"
"Make me!" Jason yelled. "You're the spring maiden. You can do anything can't you? That's why you took the power right? You crave power! You lust for it! You would do anything for power."
"Shut the hell up!" A woman yelled coming up beside Raven.
Jason took a sniff of the air. Raven and the woman had each other's scent on each other. "So, you left your family for her?"
"SHUT UP!" The woman yelled reaching for two weapons. She never had a chance.
There was a cracking sound followed by a ripping and tearing sound followed by two somethings hitting the floor. The smaller of the two rolled into Ravens foot.
"VERNAL!" Raven yelled in agonized terror as she stared into Vernal's lifeless eyes.
"There. Now that you just lost the only person you care about, I'll leave you, but first..." Jason wrapped his fist in Aura and punched Raven into a tree. "A parting gift."
The forest exploded in magic, and Raven hit Jason with a powerful lightning blast. "I'LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR KILLING VERNAL!"
"You can try, but you're not even a threat to me. Even with your maiden power."
Raven drew her sword and lunged at Jason cutting him across his chest.
There was the sound of metal on metal and sparks as the blade scratched off the chest.
"DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!" Raven yelled.
"No!" Jason taunted.
Raven threw fire at Jason.
"Hm. Toasty. Should have brought marshmallows."
"SHUT THE HELL UP!"
"Why?"
Raven's sword came down, but Jason disappeared into the shadows. He reappeared behind Raven and had the 'Dominators' in his hands. He pulled the trigger sending a gout of fire in one direction and a gout of ice in the other.
The screams of the ones he burnt alive hit Raven's ears like a freight train.
Jason pushed of the ground to the left of Raven sending a Pressure wave out that shattered her tribe members that were incased in ice. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen." Jason taunted. "Do you feel powerless yet? You plunder for power. You murder for power. You rape for power. How does your power feel now?"
"Leave." Raven said in a broken voice that had no fight to it. "Just go. You've taken the only people who ever mattered to me."
"Not yet." Jason said before his hand was outlined in brown and he grabbed Raven's shoulder sending her into spasms of pain and agonized screams. Jason waited until she passed out and looked at the remainder of her tribe. "Get her out of here. She will wish I had killed her when she wakes up, but that's all a part of her suffering."
The tribe waited until Jason and the others were gone before they picked Raven up and ran.
Ten minutes later the place was crawling with Grimm who were feasting on the corpses.
When Jason was sure that the bandits were gone, he made the shadow clones of Weiss, Whitley, and Pyrrha disappear before he drew 'Scarlet' and coated it in his aura before slashing in front of him and creating a portal to Weiss. He stepped through the portal and appeared next to Weiss, Whitley, and Pyrrha.
"What happened?" Weiss asked.
"Raven won't be a problem in the future."
"What did you do to her?"
"I broke her spirit and left her alive."
"WHY?" Pyrrha demanded. "A warrior..."
"Let me stop you right there. She wasn't a warrior. She was a parasite that fed off of others hard work because she was too lazy to get an actual job. Her and her Tribe were parasites, and I was just what the doctor ordered."
Whitley hid his dismay at Jason's poor analogy.
"Let's go." Jason said. "We have to hit our twenty miles for the day."
They walked for ten miles when they stopped for lunch. After an hour they started walking again and made camp after ten more miles.
"I'll take the first watch." Jason said after dinner.
The others didn't argue and went to sleep.
Jason sat by the fire and pushed his hearing to the limits.
After an hour of listening, he heard something. Or rather someone.
"Guy's!" He said shaking them awake. "We need to leave. Ruby and JNPR is in trouble."
Weiss and Pyrrha jumped up and took down camp as fast as they could.
"How are we getting there?" Weiss asked.
Jason pulled out 'Scarlet' and cut a portal in the air, and they walked through to see a man with a braid launch himself at Ruby.
Weiss reacted on instinct. She pulled 'Myrtenaster' from her belt and stabbed the tip into the ground sending a trail of white at the man before he was frozen. "Aren't you glad we showed up?" She asked.
"Oh my gosh Weiss!" Ruby yelled.
"It's me you dolt." Weiss said affectionately.
Ruby hugged Weiss. "I'm so happy you're here, but who else did you bring?"
Weiss stepped out of the way to show a boy wearing a three-piece blue suit and a dark blue trench coat, and two unexpected people.
"JASON!" Ruby yelled at the same time Team JNR yelled "PYRRHA!"
"You guys look tired." Weiss said. "Let us handle this guy."
"He's fast." Ruby said.
"He's agile." Ren added.
"He's strong." Jaune said.
"He wants to take Ruby's eye." Nora added.
"Then let me handle him." Jason said through his helmet. "Weiss, Pyrrha, Whitley. You keep them safe and treat any wounds. After this we can have a reunion."
"So arrogant." The man said before flexing and shattering Weiss's ice, and revealing a scorpion tail.
"So. You're a Faunus, are you?"
"Yeah, and I'm going to be the last Faunus you see."
"Funny." Jason said bitterly before letting out an Alpha Pulse that sent the man to his knees.
"Oh." The man said getting up. "I'm going to have some fun."
The man struck at Jason with his tail only to have Jason back hand it away.
"What?" The man said before swinging at Jason.
Jason blocked the man's strike with his arm.
"No. You shouldn't be able to do that."
"Mix it up then. Give me a challenge. I don't even need to try yet."
The man disappeared into the shadows.
"That's cute." Jason said sarcastically. "I don't need to see you to fight you."
The man exploded out of the shadows and punched Jason in the gut with his arm blades. "Don't make me mad. You won't like me when I'm mad."
"I don't like you now." Jason said matter of factly.
"What? You should be dead!"
Jason stepped back to show that he was in fact very much alive. "What's your name?"
"Tyrian." The man said.
"Well Tyrian. Why do you want to take my sister's eyes?"
"I don't want both of them. Only one."
"Why?"
"Because. She took Cinder's eye."
At the mention of Cinder's name Jason became different.
"You work with Cinder?"
"Yeah. Why do you care?"
Jason kicked Tyrian out of the way before kicking after him sending out a pressure wave.
Tyrian bounced off the floor and rolled before Jason was at him again. He rolled into Jason's legs trying to trip him up. "Ow! What the hell are you made of?"
Jason kicked Tyrian again.
Tyrian caught a pole and spun at Jason kicking him in the face.
Jason's visor fell off sending Jason stumbling.
Weiss saw Jason stumble before looking around. 'Oh no.' She thought. 'Tyrian kicked his visor off.'
"Bahahaha." Tyrian laughed. "Not so tough, now are you?"
Jason needed to reorient himself, but that took time that he didn't have. He sent his touch into overdrive and felt Tyrian running at him. He kicked out, but Tyrian jumped onto his leg, and vaulted behind him before wrapping his Scorpion tail around his neck and pulling, dragging him to the ground.
"Where did all of your bravado go?"
Jason let out another Alpha pulse causing Tyrian to let go.
Jason took his helmet off and threw it before disappearing into a shadow.
Weiss saw Jason's helmet, and ran to grab it.
"Well, well, well." Tyrian said grabbing Weiss. "Come out. Unless you want this girl to die in your place."
Jason stepped out of the shadows and sniffed the air. 'NO! He has Weiss!'
"That's right." Tyrian said pointing his tail at Weiss.
"DON'T!" Jason yelled.
"Try and stop me." Tyrian taunted gleefully.
"I will." Jason said from behind Tyrian.
Tyrian looked behind him and saw the dark sockets of Jason's eyes. "What the hell?"
Jason grabbed Tyrian's tail, and pulled back before punching him in the face. "LEAVE WEISS ALONE!" He yelled before punching Tyrian out of the way.
"Here." Weiss said.
Jason knelt down, and Weiss connected the Visor into place.
Jason looked around as the world came into focus. He saw Tyrian running at him. "Okay." He said harshly. "You want to play it that way. Then let's play."
Tyrian raised his hands and tail ready to strike.
Jason pushed off the ground cracking it under his feet.
Tyrian struck at Jason with his tail stabbing him in the neck.
Jason grabbed Tyrian's tail, and pulled him in. "Nice try." He said before ripping Tyrians tail out from the base of his spine.
"NNOOO!" Tyrian shrieked in agonized pain as his nerve endings caught fire from the pain. He fell to the ground and began writhing.
Jason fell to his knees and flipped Tyrian the bird before passing out.
Tyrian found enough strength to run away before the others got to him.
"JASON!" Ruby yelled.
Team RNGR ran to Jason while Weiss, Pyrrha, and Whitley walked up to him.
"Jaune!" Ruby shouted. "Can you heal him?"
"What?" Weiss asked. "Did you get your Semblance? And where did you get that Armor? And why do you look more presentable?"
"Now's not the time!" Ruby yelled. "Jason is dying!"
"No, he's not. I mean yes he is, but at the same time he's not."
"You're not making any sense."
"Just wait."
Jaune put his hands-on Jason's shoulders and activated his Semblance causing a white outline with a pink center outline and red inner outline.
Jason jumped up and rolled over before puking out poison. "Oh, Gods that was nasty."
"Jason!" Ruby yelled hugging her brother.
Jason returned the hug and sat up.
"Are you okay?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah." Jason moved his suits neck down to show the stab wound healing.
"Whoa." Jaune said. "That is so cool. You're just like that comic book character 'Dark Blade'."
"Yeah. Except that I'm a real human being, or Alpha Faunus, and he's a comic book character."
"What happened to your eye's!" Nora yelled.
Jason flinched at that.
Ruby looked at Jason's face and saw the visor, but no eyes. "J-Jason? Where are your eyes?"
Jason sighed and took his visor off plunging his world into darkness again. "Let's make camp and I'll tell you what happened after I left."
They made camp and built a campfire before sitting down.
"Hey Qrow!" Jason yelled. "You want in on this?"
A man walked out from behind a tree and sat down next to them. "I'm not all that surprised that you caught my scent." He spoke.
"You smell like a drunk bird. Of course, I'm going to smell you."
"Fair enough." Qrow said sitting down and taking out his flask.
Jason told Team RNGR, Qrow, and Whitley what happened, and when he finished, they looked horrified.
"Yeah." Jason said. "It's not a pretty story."
"How the hell are you still sane?" Qrow asked.
"I wouldn't say that I'm sane." Jason said. "I replaced sanity with rage."
"Have a drink kid." Qrow threw Jason his flask.
Jason took a swig and tossed it back to Qrow who shook it and heard nothing.
"Just my luck." He spoke.
Jason put his Visor back on and looked around. Pyrrha and Jaune were sitting next to each other resting their heads on each other. Ren and Nora were holding hands. Ruby was on one side of him and Weiss was on the other with Whitley next to her, and Qrow was across from them.
"Weiss?" Ruby asked. "What's that on your finger?"
"This?" Weiss asked running her thumb across her ring finger.
"Yeah."
"Oh. It's my engagement ring."
"You're what?"
"Jason proposed."
"OHMYGOSHICAN'TBELIEVETHATYOUPROPOSEDI'MSOHAPPY!" Ruby shouted.
Jason had barely managed to kill his hearing before Ruby shouted at the top of her lungs.
"What?" Jason asked.
"I said. Oh my gosh I can't believe that you proposed I'm so happy." Ruby said before using her Semblance to hug Jason and Weiss.
"Yes." Weiss said. "It was one of the happiest days of my life."
"When are you going to have the wedding?" Nora asked barely keeping her excitement contained.
"When we get back to Atlas. We are gathering everyone before heading back."
"That's so great." Jaune said.
"Um Jaune." Pyrrha said. "Isn't there something you want to say to me?"
"Hm?" Jaune asked. "I'm not sure. Is there?"
"Yes. It happened back at Beacon?"
"The Fall?"
Pyrrha resisted the urge to facepalm. "No, but it happened during the Fall of Beacon."
"Oh yeah."
Pyrrha's face turned into a smile before falling at his answer.
"You gained half of the Fall maiden's powers."
"I what? No. Not that. It happened before I got into the Aura transfer pod."
Jaune thought back. "Oh right." He pulled out a small box and opened it before pulling out a gold band with a diamond in the center and a ruby on either side. "Here you go."
"Don't you want to do this right?" Pyrrha said with her voice strained.
"Oh yeah." Jaune helped Pyrrha up before dropping to one knee. "Pyrrha Nikos. You are the most amazing person I know. You took a chance when you saved me during initiation, and I hope that you are happy with the risk you took. When you disappeared after the Fall, I was afraid that I might have lost you, but I couldn't bring myself to believe that you were dead. Finding you, alive and well has made me the happiest person on Remnant. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Pyrrha could barely hold herself back when she kissed Jaune. "Yes." She said when they came up for breath. "Yes."
Jaune picked her up and spun her before bringing her in for another kiss. "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Ruby and Nora charged the two and tackled them to the floor.
"I'm happy for them." Weiss said.
"Yeah." Jason agreed. "The deserve some happiness."
The rest of the night was filled with celebration and sleep.
AN: Darkclaw is a character from Amalgam Comics where Marvel and DC fused characters. Darkclaw is Batman and Wolverine fused. Surprise! Arkos is back, and I have no intention of letting it fade away. Also Starrmastrr has come up with the ship Cold Steel for Jason and Weiss. If you are wondering why Jason is so OP it will be explained in another chapter. There are people in this Series that will be able to hold their own against Jason. They are just waiting to be introduced.
