Ch.9 - Shattered and Glued Back
With the help of Lord Hypnos and Clovis, Piper's nightmares have started to fade. Lord Hypnos had given his word that Piper will not be able to dream for at least a month after a week or so. Even then, Nora... Nora had remained such a strange and sore subject as it was when she had the dreams. Nora, Piper's unborn daughter had somehow took a piece of Piper's heart away. And now, her heart doesn't know what to do without that piece. It just couldn't go back to the way it was before, functioning properly, but simply long for that missing piece. Whenever she went to the mess hall with Jason and saw the pancakes, memories of what her conscious supposedly held about the dream would come back flooding, that she would falter. Tears would return to her eyes back again and if it wasn't for Jason by her side, she would have stopped going to the mess hall or even eat at all. But, Jason was with her. He quit his job to stay by Piper's side, and although Piper would not admit she liked his presence during these times but she figured he knew, she still argued that he should go. He promised that he would after the wedding. Like that, it became a routine for them the past six days or so that he would assist her to the mess hall three times a day and they would relish the presence of each other at those moments.
Following the regular routine, Jason picked Piper at her cabin for breakfast on a sunny day. The air was cool and breezy making it a particularly a beautiful day. Piper seemed to be getting better, at least physically as her once dark circles seemed to disappear, her eyes clear and not bloodshot like they were when she was crying, and her skin seemed to be glowing from the regular food intake after the period when she did not eat at all. He understood what Piper was feeling before as he felt it too, but he composed himself a bit recognizing it as just a dream and not exploring on the topic much. But Piper, she always had the motherly nature and when it came to her own kin, or people she deeply cared about, even in a dream, he understood. She couldn't stand it. He held her hand, interlacing his fingers between hers while they walked slowly, falling behind the others.
"You are looking good today.." He said softly looking at her
"The dreams have stopped." She replies back matching his soft tone but the tension in her eyes were visible as her eyes changed to a dark brown. As if she was trying to decide whether she should forget about Nora or not.
Understanding what Piper might be thinking, Jason stops the both of them in their tracks and he turns to her, holding both of her hands gently, looking into her eyes. They just stand there for a few minutes, Piper calming in his presence, her eyes turning from brown to green as the wind softly touched her face and left frequently.
"What if she is real or if she becomes real, Jase?" she asks glancing at her ring, her voice barely a whisper.
"Then we protect her, make sure that we never lose her..." He responds back smiling and happy to see that Piper is smiling at his response.
At this point did Piper feel the missing piece of her heart return. She felt, no she knew that everything will be alright. If it isn't then they will both make sure it is alright and safe...
So...super short chapter huh? I can't make any promises that the next chapters will be longer or shorter as I am unpredictable! This chapter was more of a buffer chapter, but it gives an insight into how deeply Jason and Piper care about each other and how Nora has definitely left a print on Piper's mind.
As for the next few chapters I have a few plans on what to write...What I want to know is if you guys want a chapter dedicated to Bachelor parties thrown to our main characters or disregard them and go straight to the wedding? Okay so after you answer this question in the review section, also answer this: Do you think Nora will become real?
As always constructive criticism is welcome. Thank You for keeping up with me guys, have a nice day and peace out!
