Managing to eat all of her salad, during his story, and drink most of her wine. Kerry is ready to go, and it's perfect timing; because Josie is ready to get out of her carrier too.
As she begins yelping, Darby says, "Awe, poor thing. She's ready to go." Kerry swallows her last sip of wine, as she says, "Yeah she is. I guess we'd better be going everyone. I don't want to traumatize her." Katie responds, "I agree. You two go ahead home. We'll see you both tomorrow." Kerry goes to pay for her meal; but Tony says, "Don't worry about it Ker. Go ahead home. I've got this." She nods and says, "Good bye everyone." They respond in kind, watching her leave as they continue to chat for a bit.
Kerry arrives home, and she thought Tony would be not far behind her. But, apparently she was mistaken. She's been home long enough to walk Josie, take a shower, pop some popcorn, and watch half of a movie. Yet he's still not back yet. She begins to wonder if maybe he's still upset with her. She then realizes with the intensity of the day; they still hadn't talked.
As she picks up her phone thinking to call him; her phone rings, and its Judy again. "Damn it." She says, just remembering she meant to call her back. As she answers the phone; she hears a key in the lock, and Tony walks through the door.
She says, "Hello Judy. I'm so sorry I meant to call you back earlier." Judy responds, 'its fine Kerry. I'm glad I was able to reach you. Is Tony there with you?" Tony has a seat with Josie in his arms, and Kerry pauses the television, as she says, "Yeah, he's here. Let me put the phone on speaker."
She clicks speaker, and says, "Okay we can both hear you now Judy. What's going on?" Tony says, "Hey Judy." She says, "Hello Tony. I'm glad you're there. I was calling you Kerry, and about to call you Tony too because based on something Bellamy said to me about the blackmail scheme she found herself looped into. I felt like there could be more to the story than we originally thought. And, according to my private detective; I was right."
The tension in the room rises, as Kerry looks at Tony and asks, "What did you find out?" She says, "I found out that Bellamy was set up to be blackmailed; but it wasn't for the purpose of actually disclosing the photos. It was for the purpose of teaching you two a lesson." Kerry and Tony both say, "What?" Judy replies, "Right. Basically, the person who was blackmailing Bellamy, was being paid by someone close to her, and you. Who was just trying to get you two to see how dangerous being together in public was.
But it backfired because the blackmailer got greedy, and hatched his own plan to get paid on both sides of the coin. By selling a copy of the photos to TMZ, and then also threatening to release said photos, if Bellamy didn't continue to pay, to keep him quiet. Plus collecting money from the person who hired him." Tony curiously asks, "Who the hell is this person Judy."
Judy takes a breath and says, "It was Shonda." Tony says, "What!" Kerry replies, "Oh my God!" Judy responds, "I know it's a shock. But it's true. I can assure you the information was properly vetted. She's the one who sent the photographer to talk to Bellamy." Tony is angry, but also confused, so he asks, "But what was the point in involving Bellamy? She knew where the party was. She could've just paid him to take the photos, and came to us advising someone sent them to her or something. If this was about control her normal motivation." Judy nods as she replies, "True. If it were just about a power play only you'd be right. But this way, Bellamy ends up thinking she's the sole party to blame. When she's not, and Shonda is able to hide her involvement."
Kerry groans as she says, "That's why she was so quick to sign the NDA without her attorney reading it. Because she knew about all of this at the time she signed it." Judy nods as she says, "Exactly. She was covering herself at that point; because she didn't have much of a choice. She just never thought we'd get involved beforehand, and talk to Bellamy. Plus she didn't want me investigating any further, so she gave in quickly. She never had any intention of getting her attorney to look over the document." Tony just shakes his head as he says, "This is fucking unbelievable. When are you meeting with Shonda to address this Judy?"
Judy replies, "It's already done; I actually just left her office. Ironically it sounded like she was expecting me." Kerry responds, "Yeah, I actually met with her not long ago in hopes of clearing the air, before we start shooting. But it didn't go very well."
Judy nods as she says, "Okay. That makes sense as to why she looked like she was upset when I arrived." Kerry replies, "Given how we left things; I'm sure she was still upset." Judy says, "Well, whatever transpired; I'm sure she deserved it Kerry. I wouldn't worry about it." Kerry appreciates her support, and says, "Thanks Judy for your support. I appreciate it."
After her reply she feels Tony staring at her, and when their eyes meet; she knows he wants to know about her and Shonda's conversation. Their stare is broken by Judy saying, "You're welcome. At any rate. She's been made aware that her hand was caught in the cookie jar on this little caper. And let's just say she and I reached an understanding of massive proportions. That this little detail will remain quiet, and ABC will be none the wiser. As long as she agrees to stop playing these dangerous games, and helps us keep you two a secret."
