Chapter 7
Anna was having a wonderful day, a great week actually. She was about to meet Robert for a late lunch at Kelly's then they were both taking the rest of the day off. It was Friday and neither of them was that busy at work. This last week, they had gone out on a couple of dates and spent last Saturday with Robin. Anna had heard a few whispers but so far there hadn't been much said about them that made it back to her. Anna had gotten a kick out of talking to Tiffany on Sunday at brunch, Tiffany had insisted they go after seeing her leaving Robert's bedroom. Having their friends know and be happy for them was wonderful, it was more than she had expected as well. Tiff was very surprised but after hearing what had led to this she said she understood it and that she was happy for them.
So far Anna hadn't heard from Duke about the divorce but she did know he has now been served a second set of papers since he had ripped up the first ones without even looking at them. She can't control what he does and she will not let him control her life. It didn't matter what he did or didn't do, she will have a life with Robert, Robin and this little one she thought as she rubbed her tummy.
She checked the time and started putting things away and straightening up her desk. Done for the week she thought as she stood up, she talked to Felicia briefly on her way out then said bye. Happily, Anna made her way to Kelly's, lost in her thoughts.
She smiled when Ruby greeted her. Robert wasn't there yet so she stopped to talk to her before taking a seat. "I must say you have looked very happy lately. Does that mean you and Duke are no longer fighting?"
"No, it means I've stopped fighting with him. I told him I want a divorce two weeks ago."
"Oh, Anna. I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be, it's the right choice for me. I am looking forward to what comes next actually." Anna gave her a little smile, soon enough you'll know why she thought to herself.
"That is a very good outlook, stay positive. Good things are coming your way," Ruby didn't know if what she'd been hearing was true or not but apparently Anna has been spending a fair amount of time with Robert lately. She smiled as she saw him walk in and come towards them. "By chance are you meeting this lovely lady," she asked with a smile for him as well.
"Hi Ruby, yes I am." He turned to Anna and smiled, "Hi," then he leaned in and kissed her cheek. "Did you just get here?"
"Yes, then I started talking to Ruby."
"Well, take a seat. I'll grab the coffee. I hope you two are eating."
"Yes we are," Robert said as he put his hand on Anna's back and guided her over to one of the empty tables. Once they were seated Robert leaned forward, "Do I get to spend the rest of the day with you now?"
"Yes, you do. Robin is going to a sleepover right after school."
"So you won't be missed when you don't come home tonight?"
Anna smiled and let out a little laugh, "No, I won't be."
"That's good, I seem to be a rather lucky man today. Getting to spend my time with such a beautiful woman."
He leaned back in his chair smiling at her, he wanted to kiss her but knew that should wait a little longer. Anna reached out and put her hand on his, "You are rather lucky," she bit her bottom lip, looking into his eyes. Before either could say anything else Ruby returned.
"Do you know what you want or do you need a little more time?" Ruby asked as she started pouring their coffees.
Robert was trying not to laugh, they knew what they wanted. "Yeah, I think we're ready to order." Anna nodded then they gave Ruby their orders.
Ruby almost walked away then paused, "So I don't need to confirm what people might be saying when they come in here but I do think of both of you as friends. So as your friend, is Robert any part of what you said you're looking forward to?" Ruby asked looking at Anna.
"I don't think that's actually the question you want to ask her," Robert said with a smirk.
Ruby looked around smiling, there were only a few other customers there so she sat down with them and quietly asked, "What's going on here?" she asked, pointing between the other two at the table. Certain that they were about to confirm what she has been hearing.
Anna leaned a little closer to her, "Robert and I are now dating. We want to be together and will be. No matter what Duke wants or does or says I am no longer with him. As far as I'm concerned that marriage is over."
Wow, that's even more than what she's been hearing, this isn't just an affair this is them starting a relationship. "Alright then, I think this is a good development, you both seem very happy. I'm glad you felt like you could tell me. I won't confirm anything but it will be fun listening to people speculate," Ruby said with a smile as she stood back up. She smiled at them warmly as she picked up the coffee pot and walked away from them.
"I think people have already started to speculate," Robert said leaning towards Anna again.
"That's fine, let them."
"I will," he said with a big grin leaning back again making Anna smile.
"I left Duke, I have filed for divorce," she said a little louder. "I am no longer Duke's wife no matter how many times he rips up the papers."
"Did he rip them up again?" Robert asked.
"I don't know, probably. I wish he would just read them."
"Infidelity and irreconcilable differences!" Then they heard paper ripping. They looked over to see Duke standing beside their table. He dropped the torn divorce papers on the table. "I read them this time. I am not giving you a divorce. You want to sit there yelling that you are not my wife, it changes nothing. We took vows, you are my wife." He grabbed her arm and pulled her out of her chair. "We need to talk."
"Get your hand off of me," Anna said, pulling her arm free. "There is nothing to talk about." Robert had stood up as soon as Duke touched her and was right behind Anna now. "You can refuse to sign the papers, you can rip them up. I don't care it won't stop this. I am divorcing you. Duke, you are not the man I am in love with. You are not the man I am involved with. Why should I be married to you?"
Duke couldn't believe what he was hearing. "You are my wife!"
"Only because you refuse to give me a divorce. You won't let me tell you why!"
Duke roughly grabbed her arm as he pulled her towards him. "We are going to talk but you are not leaving me."
"GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!"
Duke looked up to see rage on Robert's face. Anna stumbled slightly as she pulled herself free while Duke was distracted. "This doesn't concern you, Scorpio!"
"Yes, it does!" Anna insisted. She looked at the two men then stepped closer to Robert and turned to Duke, "You said your affair was meaningless, that it didn't matter. Mine did! Mine wasn't some drunken one night stand with some random guy." Duke was already glaring at Robert, he didn't even notice Robert put his arm around Anna's waist. "Robert and I are together," she said with confidence, Duke will not tell her what to do with her life.
"Don't! I don't want to hear it!" No, it was what he had suspected, what he had feared but why did it have to be Scorpio? Why does it have to be the one man he knows he could lose Anna to at any time?
"Robert and,"
"DON'T SAY IT!" Duke yelled hoping she would stop talking.
"Robert and I are in love!"
"NO!" He balled his fists ready to attack. "I will not accept this."
"Duke, I am in love with Robert. I'm sorry but it's true. He can give me what I need, what I want, you can't." Duke just stared at her. "We have already talked to Robin, she knows we're together. That we plan on staying together."
There was a fury burning in him as she spoke, he wanted to rip Scorpio to pieces. He wanted to drag Anna away and make her see that she is wrong, that this is crazy, she can't mean any of this. This can not be happening. Anna can't be serious, she can't be leaving him for Scorpio. Duke was pointing at them but no words would come out. He couldn't put his rage into words. He knew if he moved it would be to beat the living crap out of Scorpio.
The other people in Kelly's were all watching this scene with great interest. They were getting information first hand and there just might be a fight. Ruby came over not wanting anything to happen in her restaurant. "Duke, why don't you come with me?" she said, putting her hands on his upper arms. He let her turn him and walked away from Anna and Robert with her. Ruby had seen this combination of emotion before, heartbreak and rage, there was no telling what he might do next. "Let's get some fresh air," she said as she led him out the door.
Once they were outside Duke looked at her and took a few deep breaths. Now that they were outside he didn't feel like he wanted to hurt anyone, so he was thankful for that. "I should go. I can't be here or I'm going to start a fight in your place. I don't want to do that."
"Thank you for that. I think you need a little time alone to think, Duke."
"Right, yeah. Thanks, Ruby." He was still having trouble coming up with words, he hates what he had just found out. Duke turned and walked off in the direction of his club. He put his head down as he walked, she's sleeping with Scorpio. The fact Olivia has been sharing his bed for the last three weeks doesn't even matter now, not compared to Anna saying she loves Robert. He turned and stepped closer to the water, his stomach in knots. The rage he felt mixed with dread and heartache. Duke has always suspected there was more to their closeness than either of them would say. Hell, he's told Anna Robert still loved her.
He looked out at the water, he wants to go and beat the crap out of Robert but he's the police commissioner. If Duke so much as touches him, Scorpio could run him in on trumped-up charges. Victor wouldn't like that and Duke wouldn't put it past Scorpio to question him about the Jeromes.
Another thought hit him, Anna said they've talked to Robin about this. How long has this been going on? How long have they been playing him for the fool? They couldn't wait to tell Robin they would be playing house. How long did Scorpio wait before swooping in to start hitting on Anna? As the anger started to build again Duke told himself he had to stop thinking like that. This wasn't the place for him to lose his temper. This is not the end of this, not by a long shot. He will not just let Anna walk away from him and Scorpio will get a little surprise as well. Duke turned to head to his club again. He didn't want to see anyone at the moment, there he can be alone and think about what he does next.
…
When they were done eating Robert insisted they go back to his place. He wanted her to relax after their run-in with Duke. Anna had planned on spending the night at his place already and they hadn't talked about what happened with Duke yet. After he had left, all Anna had done was pick up the papers, sighed then crumbled them up. There were enough people there waiting to see what happened next, neither of them had wanted to give them anything else to talk about.
When they got there Robert went up and changed out of his suit and took her overnight bag up. He came back down to find Anna stretched out on the couch. "I might be in need of a foot rub," she said with a little grin as he sat down by her feet.
"Is that so?" he picked up her left foot, smiling over at her as he started to message it. "He knows now."
"He knows about us but he doesn't know everything." Anna let out a sigh. "Could you have imagined if Duke found out about the baby in the middle of Kelly's."
"That would not have been good for anyone involved. Not only would Duke have known it would have gotten around the entire city by Monday."
"Monday? You think that juicy bit of gossip would take that long to get around this city?"
"Who's going to care?"
"Police Commissioner's father's child with wife of nightclub owner and suspected mobster. That's those rages' favourite type of story, their bread and butter."
"Well then I am even happier that it didn't come out like that," Robert said with a little grin. "I want to see Commissioner steals sexy wife of nightclub owning mobster, in the papers first."
Anna grinned, "He's not a mobster," she said with a little laugh.
"It's the papers calling him a mobster, not me. Those rages never get the facts straight."
Anna was still laughing, "So you want two scandals this year?"
"No, just one big one. I'm hoping this is the last time either of us is part of anything so scandalous," he said with raised eyebrows. "We should do it right, I say."
Again Anna laughed at him, "We're together, there's a baby on the way, we might be living in sin for a while. That is scandalous," Anna said mockingly.
Robert picked up her other foot then looked up at her, "This is going to get attention, I don't like it but we both know it's going to happen. Let's not let it get to us."
"I won't. I just want it over with so we can just move past that part. To when we're old news."
"It's Port Charles, it shouldn't be too long before something more interesting takes the attention off us." Robert let out a little laugh, "It's not even in the papers yet and we're talking about it being out of the papers."
"That's because this is just a little stumbling block at the start of this. We are in it for the long hull, Scorpio. This will just be another crazy part of our story."
"That sounds wonderful. Come here." He tugged on her foot and Anna scooted towards him. Robert pulled her onto his lap. "I don't care if it's a year before I can marry you. Anna, I am committed to you, committed to us, to our family."
She stroked his cheek as she looked into his eyes, "I know you are." Then she smiled, "Where's Sean?"
"I would assume at work. Don't worry I just wanted you nice and close."
Anna smiled and kissed him. "Just close?"
He popped his lips after the kiss then grinned, "Kissings good too, yup."
Anna put her arms around him, this is exactly what she needed after seeing Duke. Just a little silliness with the man she loves. He started planting kisses along her neck, having his hands on her felt wonderful. The other things didn't matter now. They will continue to deal with Duke and his crap together but that doesn't matter either. What Robert is doing, matters. Oh, his mouth feels wonderful on her skin. On Monday afternoon they are meeting with a realtor, they are starting their life together that's what's important. Them in this moment is important. Stopping thinking she told herself and smiled then Anna kissed him again as she started to grind on his lap. "I think we should move this somewhere a little more private. I want to do more than just kiss you."
"It would be incredibly rude of me to not give you what you want." Then he kissed her again, holding her close.
"Mmm-hmm," she nodded as the kiss continued. All she wanted to think about now was Robert and what he was doing, what he will do. Her head went back as he pulled her shirt lower kissing her cleavage. "We need to take this upstairs."
"Yes, we do." Robert agreed as they both hurried to stand up. Laughing Anna took his hand and started pulling him towards the stairs. She couldn't wait any longer to be with him. "This once a week nonsense better end soon."
"We need to get you moved into our new home then this can happen more often. Once we buy one that is," he said with a grin.
Anna smiled over her shoulder at him, "Let's hope we see one we like on Monday."
At the top of the stairs Robert put his hands on her hips, "We can think about that later." He pulled her closer as they entered his room, "All I want to think about right now is you and your satisfaction." Then he leaned down and kissed her shoulder as his hand moved up her stomach under her top.
Anna moaned as he pulled her close, pressing his hard bulge into her back. At the foot of the bed, she turned and smiled as her hand moved up his length. Then with both hands, she grabbed the bottom of his polo shirt, pulling it over his head. As soon as it was off she ran her fingers down his chest, needing to touch him. She got his belt undone then Robert started lifting her shirt off. Anna lifted her arms and he pulled it off over her head, throwing it over his shoulder then picking her up. Anna's legs went around him as he laid them down on the bed. "I need you."
"You'll have me," Robert whispered. "First, I think you need a little extra attention." He adjusted so he was more beside her then his hand moved up her inner thigh.
"Take off your pants," Anna demanded as her hand moved to his zipper.
"Yes, ma'am." Quickly he removed them, hers quickly followed and their underwear. His hand moved to her center, "Ohhh." Two fingers moved along her moist lower lips. He kissed her as his fingers entered her warm folds. As his hand moved back and forth Anna's head went back, he kissed along her neck as he put pressure on her sensitive mound with his thumb. She moaned his name as he nibbled her earlobe. Her hips started to move, increasing the speed, Robert knew she was close. He moved his thumb more, applying more pressure, driving her closer to her release.
When he leaned in and took her nipple in his mouth Anna gasped. Her senses on overload, "Yes! Oh, don't stop. Oh, Robert!" She called his name as she climaxed. Hearing her call out his name like that only turned him on more. Robert couldn't wait any longer, Anna was still coming down as he moved between her legs. He thrust into her fully burning himself. "Shit! Yes, baby. Oh god." As he thrust his hips forward again, Anna's nails dug into his back. Arching her hips up wanting everything he had to give. She could feel his need for her, the intense desire they both have for the other.
Anna felt her orgasm start to wash over her, calling his name as she felt his teeth brush against her shoulder, just enough to tease. Then he arched his back, thrusting harder as he felt her tighten around him. "Ahh, Anna! God, Anna!" He collapsed beside her, out of breath and smiled at her. "We needed that."
Anna grinned, "Yes we did." She put her head back on the pillow, letting her breathing return to normal. After a moment she said, "I am serious about this happening more than once a week."
"Someone's going to end up injured if that doesn't start happening soon," he teased.
"We need to start making up for lost time."
"Oh the things I want to do to you." He pulled Anna closer, kissing her lovingly. "We'll get to all that fun stuff."
"Some of it tonight," she said then kissed him with more passion this time. They had all night and Anna wasn't going to waste any of it.
