The excitement around all of the great developments are tempered though, because of how their characters have been written in the last two episodes. The direction of the show is almost painful, but they're making due as they can. She's just trying to convince herself; it's worth it. And so far she thought it was. However, with what is likely to come next; she has her doubts.
Moments later, there's a knock on the door. She yells, "Come in." The door opens and Lyn comes in as she says, "Hey girlie, it's time for you to dress for the scene." Kerry takes a breath and says, "Okay, I'm ready."
With Josie in her arms she gets up and exits her trailer, heading back to the set to get dressed. While walking she thinks to herself, it's just a scene. However, the pain of it still settles with her as she slips into character to prepare for it. She knows Tony would never speak to her, the way Fitz is preparing to speak to her after their sex scene in the closet. But as Tony just advised; it doesn't hurt any less.
After changing into her dress, she takes a breath and clears her mind. She readies herself for the scene, as she wonders how far will Shonda take this scenario. And how far is too far? Those are the questions she now has, and she knows it won't be long before she gets her answers.
Four hours later
As Kerry and Columbus relax in her trailer; he's doing his normal routine of checking on her. She's laughed so hard that her side hurts; because of his silliness. She can always count on him to lift her spirits after a moment of sadness or difficulty. Not that her love hasn't tried, with the two dozen roses that were in her trailer when she returned from the set.
Feeling much better Kerry says, "Thanks for coming to hang out with me Colby." He smiles as he says, "Of course. It's my pleasure." She responds, "Seriously, you didn't have to stay, you're done with all your scene work and you're sitting here keeping me company. That's a stand up move." He nods as he says, "I'm a stand up guy." She grins at him as she asks, "So we haven't talked since your last chat with the Shonda. How is everything going?" He sighs as he says, "It's going well. I just have to keep my nose clean, and I've been doing that. So we'll see."
She gives him an all knowing look and he says, "Okay, so I've been somewhat clean." She shakes her head as she says, "Colby you were late three times last week, and I Darby covered for you." He takes a breath and says, "I know. I'm trying Kerry. I really am." She sees the pleading look in his eyes, and she knows he's telling the truth. He is trying. But how do you tell someone they're not trying hard enough?
She responds, I understand. Just be careful, okay?" He replies, "I will." They share a smile and he asks, "So, how bad do you think it's going to get on set with this love triangle?" Kerry sighs as she says, "I don't know. I was thinking about it earlier, and I'm not a fan of the next shoot tomorrow." He asks, "Is that the sex scene?" She nods as she says, "Unfortunately, yes."
He responds, "Well, you have complete control over what happens." She nods as she says, "I know. But I'd prefer it doesn't happen at all. He's a terrible kisser." Columbus chuckles as he says, "I can't lie, he does look like a guppy." She laughs with him as she thinks about the scene, but is somewhat grossed out by it at the same time. He then says, "I guess you and Darby can compare notes now on who's the worst between him and Josh."
Kerry says, "Wow, did she say that to you?" He nods as he says, "Yeah. She did. She hates kissing him. She says she always feels like she's being accosted, and it's worse after they yell cut; because he begins talking and since she can't stand him that doesn't help." Kerry shakes her head as she laughs, remembering how annoyed Darby always looks after their scenes.
She asks, "Who else do you think will be linked up?" He responds, "I don't know. But damn, can a brother get a little action?" Kerry grins as she says, "You just want to take your shirt off on camera." He nods as he says, "Damn right; I don't hit the gym for nothing. These pecks are meant to be seen and enjoyed by all the ladies on set, and in TV land." She laughs at his brashness and he laughs in return too, as her phone vibrates.
She looks at it as her laughter quells, and sees it's a text from Tony. It reads, "We have to reshoot three scenes. Go ahead home without me so you can rest." She sighs as her smile fades and Columbus asks, "What's wrong?" She replies, "Tony has reshoots to do; so he told me I should go home instead of waiting for him." As she responds back to him, "Okay, I'll miss you." Columbus says, "Did you want to go to dinner or something?" She grins at him as she says, "Nah, I have an early call tomorrow for this god forsaken scene. So I'd better go home and relax."
Tony's reply message comes in and she checks it. It reads, "Miss you too. I'll wake you if you're sleep when I get there." She grins and sends him a smiling face and winking icon. He responds with a wagging tongue and a smiling face.
