SmackDown Filming: August 16, 2011
I smiled at Randy after I put on my "I hindered Jinder" custom shirt that Ted had made. "So…what do you think?"
Randy looks me up and down with a small smile. "I married a beautiful woman."
"I know that. I meant about the shirt."
"Oh. It turned out good. Looks nice on you."
"Thanks. By the way, we're opening the show."
Randy groans. "Why?"
"To get to the announcement of the Number One Contender's Battle Royal. Plus, we get to do stuff with Cody and Ted."
"There's a Number One Contender's Battle Royal tonight?"
"Yeah."
"Do Codes and Ted know yet?"
"I have no idea, but we have creative freedom over our segment with them, so I'm gonna insult Ted."
Randy laughs. "Insult both of them."
"I can do that."
I hear voices in my head
They council me
They understand
They talk to me…
Randy and I walked down to the ring, where Teddy Long is already, to start off SmackDown. Randy holds the ropes for me to enter the ring and follows in behind me. Randy climbs up in the corner and poses with his newly regained World Heavyweight Championship.
After Randy gets out of the corner, Teddy shakes both mine and Randy's hands before giving Randy a microphone.
Randy goes to speak, but a chant of his name breaks out.
I grab Randy's free hand to hold. "Look at you, Mr. Popular."
Randy smiles. "The fans have great taste."
I laugh. "They sure do."
"Now I know everyone's used to seeing SmackDown start with Christian in this ring whining, complaining and begging for that one more match. But I sure as hell am no Christian. My name is Randy Orton. And I am the World Heavyweight Champion." Randy raises the World Heavyweight Championship in the air. "And this lovely woman next to me is my beautiful wife, your Divas Champion, Marissa. Now at our match at SummerSlam, I beat Christian so badly so brutally that he can't even stand. Let alone show up here tonight and beg me for one more match. At first, I respected Christian. Shortly after that, he began to annoy me. And eventually, I began to despise him with every fiber of my being. And now, it's all over. So, Teddy, come here, man. I don't want to talk about lawyers, lawsuits, contracts. Like everyone in this arena and everyone in the entire world, Marissa and I are ready to start anew."
Teddy takes the microphone back from Randy. "Well, Randy, I'm glad you brought that up. Because I can tell you right now who you are going to be moving on to. And that is going to be the winner of tonight's main event, a twenty man over the top Battle Royal! And, Randy-"
("Undashing" plays)
Randy and I look towards the stage to see Ted and Cody heading towards the ring.
Cody grabs a microphone as he and Ted enter the ring. "Looky, looky. Teddy Long, you know what this is. It's the Legacy reunited in the ring. Randy, you remember the Legacy, right? It was the group you used to have on Monday Night Raw with Ted, myself. Where we were basically considered lesser sons of a greater sire, but how times have changed. Because, like you, I am a champion too. But unlike Randy Orton, I didn't have to resort to common barbarism to obtain my title and please the masses. I think we all know I could genuinely care less about these hideous people."
I look at Cody. "Pretty sure that the only hideous thing here is you, Cody."
"You shut your dirty mouth, Marissa. Randy, you know me. You know I'm not happy with just being Intercontinental Champion, which is why I'm going to compete in the twenty man Battle Royal. Because I want what you have, and sooner than later I am going to take that title. Ted, Ted, you have a voice. Use it." Cody passes the microphone to Ted.
"Oh wow." I say sarcastically. "I never thought you'd actually give Ted permission to speak. The master has released his grasp. Ted gets to be more than just a lackey and, also, the only competitor currently in this ring who isn't a champion."
"Calm down. Calm down." Ted motions to the crowd as he glares at me. "You're the biggest bitch I've ever met, Marissa. Nothing's changed. Randy, we know you better than anyone else in the WWE. We know your strengths, but most importantly, we know your weaknesses. But don't think for one second that we forgot about all those times that you used us and then you turned on us in favor of Princess McMahon over here and-."
Randy RKOs Ted. I grab the World Heavyweight Championship and back up as Randy stares at Cody, who stands in the corner of the ring before completely exiting the ring with his eyes never leaving Randy. Randy smiles and pulls me into a kiss before taking back his championship from me and continuing to watch Cody.
I looked at Randy as we sat next to each other at ringside, waiting for the Battle Royal to start as Mark Henry was currently making his entrance. "Who do you have your eye on?"
Randy glances at me while keeping most of his attention on Mark. "Well, Mark of course, Ted, Cody, Sheamus, the list goes on, Rissa."
I nod. "Fair enough."
It's a shame that lost their head
A careless man who could wind up dead
You wear your sin like it's some kind of prize
Too many lies, too many lies…
"From Dublin, Ireland, weighing in at 267 pounds, the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus!" Tony Chimel announces.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Randy is silent as we watch the Battle Royal. The only acknowledgement I get is his arm around my shoulders and him giving one of them a gentle squeeze.
Personally, I didn't really want to watch this one from ringside, but Randy didn't want to come alone. I was barely even watching the match. Neither of us speak until Ezekiel Jackson eliminates Cody.
"Well, damn." I say quietly.
"I had a slight hope maybe Cody could win." Randy whispers.
We continue to just watch in silence until Mark Henry rolls out of the ring right by us.
"He's not eliminated." We both say quietly to each other at the exact same time.
Randy and I look at each other.
Randy kisses my cheek. "Thanks for coming out here."
I nod. "No problem."
Sheamus eliminates Heath Slater with a Brogue Kick right in front of us. My eyes go wide.
"Well, damn." Randy says with an impressed look.
Mark grabs Heath and looks directly at both me and Randy before lifting Heath up and throwing him onto the steel steps. Randy and I both quietly watch Mark as he walks away instead of the Battle Royal itself.
"That's a threat." I mutter.
"A massive one." Randy comments.
After Sin Cara eliminates Justin Gabriel, Mark grabs Justin and tosses him into the timekeeper's area. Sheamus eliminates both of the Usos right in front of us. Mark throws one of them into the barricade and tosses the other one through the announce table, dangerously close to me and Randy. I grab onto Randy. He protectively puts both of his arms around me while pulling me onto his lap. Randy slightly leans over to check on the Uso as Mark slides back into the ring to rejoin the match.
Mark eliminates Jinder Mahal right in front of us. Jinder reads my shirt as he gets up and gives me a dirty look. I smile and wave at Jinder as Mark eliminates Ted.
I look at Ted. "You good?"
Ted slightly glances at me. "I will be."
Sin Cara eliminates Tyson Kidd. There's only four left: Mark Henry, Sin Cara, Sheamus, and Wade Barrett.
I smile as the three others start to gang up on Mark. However, Wade turns on Sheamus, and both end up over the top rope on the apron. Sheamus eliminates Wade. Sheamus gets Sin Cara over the top rope and tries to eliminate him; however, Mark grabs Sheamus from behind and eliminates him.
"Oh no." I mutter.
Randy tightens his grip on me as he silently watches.
Sin Cara is sent out of the ring under the bottom rope, so he isn't eliminated. Sin Cara reenters the ring. He puts an impressive effort against Mark Henry, but Sin Cara receives a World's Strongest Slam. Mark eliminates Sin Cara.
"Here is your winner, the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry!"
Randy and I slowly get up with Randy glaring directly at Mark. Randy grabs the World Heavyweight Championship and pulls me close to him. The bitterness is heavy between the two men, and I don't like this. I don't like this one bit.
