Chapter 15

The following day Robert and Guy walked into Duke's Club, it was early afternoon. They wanted to be here before it opens for business. Robert had let Duke walk away last night, but he was here to make it very clear that what happened last night would not be happening again, ever.

Angel looked up, as soon as he saw Robert's face he knew he was the one that Duke had gotten into a fight with. Robert looked a little stiff but didn't seem to be in the same kind of pain Duke was. Angel knew Duke had three broken ribs but he had refused to tell him who he had been fighting with when Angel saw him the night before.

"What can I do for you gentlemen this afternoon?" Angel asked.

"I want to have a would with Lavery," Robert informed him matter of factly.

He took a closer look at Scorpio's face, it wasn't bad enough he stole the man's wife he had to go after him and kick his ass too. "Can I ask what this is about?"

"It's about the incident that sent Lavery to the hospital last night," Guy answered. "We are here to follow up on that."

Duke had come down from his office while they were talking. He walked up behind them, "Is this an official visit?" he asked.

Robert turned and took in his appearance. A black eye that was partly swollen closed, it looked like his lip had been stitched back together. "How are the ribs?"

"You broke three of them."

"After your friends ran off you should have stopped. I told you to. You didn't give me much choice but to make you stop."

"Are you here to press charges?"

Guy stepped up, "I am here to inform you Police Commissioner Robert Scorpio has gone on record to say that because he knows this was a personal matter and not an attack on a member of the police force he is choosing not to press charges."

"We will be tracking down the two men that were involved and they will be brought in. This will be the only time you get a pass." Robert pointed at Duke. "Come at me again and you will regret it."

Angel was surprised to hear that. Duke had jumped Scorpio. He must have hired a couple of guys to help and he still ended up getting his ass kicked. He'd heard a lot of stories about the man, now he was sure they must be true. Robert Scorpio is not a man to cross Angel thought.

"Is that a threat?" Duke tried to puff out his chest but had to hide the grimes on his face instead as his broken ribs screamed out in pain.

"No, it's a promise. I am the police commissioner. If there's a next time, you will be charged with assaulting an officer. Am I making myself clear?"

Duke gingerly touched his side, he didn't want to have another run-in with him. "Yeah." He nodded letting the pain show a little. "Yeah, I got it."

Robert and Guy started to turn. Then Guy paused, "I tried to convince him to press charges, but he refused. I thought you should know that." Then he followed Robert out of the club. When he caught up with Robert, he had to ask, "Are you sure that was the right thing to do?"

"Yeah, I know why he came at me, and I even understand why he felt he needed backup. I walked away with a couple of cuts and some big bruises. I broke the man's ribs, he isn't going to pull that crap again."

"Yeah, I don't think he will."

"Anna doesn't need to be worried about what Duke's going to do next so I really just want to move past this. He's furious with me and has every right to be, but that doesn't mean I won't hesitate to charge him next time."

"If there's a next time," Guy added. "If he's smart there won't be."

"Exactly." Robert looked over at Guy as they got to the car, "I will deal with Duke's friends personally when they are brought in." He still wasn't sure that he wanted them to do any time, but there will be a record of this in their files.

"I'll make sure everybody knows that." Guy knew those poor saps were going to regret ever accepting Lavery's offer.

Anna sat waiting, she was a little early but she was still looking around hoping Robert would get there soon. Her appointment was in fifteen minutes and she knew he wanted to be here for this, today was the ultrasound. When Anna saw Amy and Bobbie walking towards her, it hit her. People are going to know she is pregnant, they are going to see that she is not just a little pregnant and that will start very soon.

Bobbie stopped and said hi, Amy smiled and said hello as well just as Robert arrived. "I'm not late, am I?"

"No, we have a little time," Anna said smiling at him.

"Oh, you're here for an appointment?" Bobbie asked.

"Yes, we are. With Dr. Collins," Anna added, there will be fewer questions if she just tells her.

"Oh," Bobbie grinned at her then at Robert. "I see. She's had a busy morning, three babies were born before eleven o'clock."

Anna grinned, "We won't add to that count, we just have an appointment."

Amy moved over to the nurses' station as they continued to talk. She looked back over at them then glanced down at the appointment book. Her eyes got big as she read Anna's name followed by ultrasound, twenty weeks. Ohhh, she thinks. Anna is here with Robert, not Duke. Amy knew they had broken up but was there more to what was behind their divorce? Twenty weeks, that's four and a half months, Anna and Duke were still together then, she was sure of it. When Bobbie walked over, Amy turned and they walked off to get back to work.

Anna took Robert's hand and led him over to the waiting area and took a seat. "When do you want to get married?"

"What?" Robert looked at her a little confused at first then grinned. "Whenever you want. We can start planning today but can it at least wait until after the appointment?"

"I want it to be soon," Anna leaned in, "I'd feel better if we're married when more people start finding out about our baby," she whispered.

"I want it to be more than city hall, I want the people we care about there this time," he told her quietly. "Something simple but beautiful."

Anna touched his cheek, "I can picture it. Two weeks from Friday," Anna leaned in as she grabbed his tie. "You are marrying me, Mr. Scorpio."

He grinned as she pulled him in, "With pleasure." Then they kissed just as her name was called. They leaned back and smiled at each other. Robert took a deep breath, "Let's go see our baby."

He stood up, offering her his hand as she stood up. They followed the nurse to an examining room, then they were asked to wait for Dr. Collins. They both had a nervous energy making it hard to sit still. Robert got up and started to pace. A few minutes later Dr. Colins walked in, greeting them, "How are you feeling today?" she asked.

"Excited," Anna answered, a brilliant smile on her face.

"Well, there's no point wasting time. Let's start with checking your vitals then I will give you a chance to get changed into a gown for the examination."

"Alright." Robert came and sat down beside Anna again. Once she had what she needed, Dr. Collins left the room so Anna could change. Once again Robert started to pace. Anna just let him, she knew that was probably the best thing for him to be doing at the moment.

Her doctor smiled at them when she reentered the room, "Alright, who's ready to have a look at their baby?"

Robert stepped over and took Anna's hand. "I think we both are," she answered.

The gel hit her stomach and Anna knew it was only a matter of minutes before they knew. The screen was turned so only Dr. Collins could see it at the moment. She did her checks and once she had what information she needed she looked up. "Alright now for the fun part. Do you want to know the sex of your baby or just see them?"

"We want to know the sex," Anna said squeezing his hand.

"Alright." She turned the screen so they could see it then showed them their baby.

They could hear the heartbeat, now there on the screen was their baby. Robert stood up straighter, "That's amazing." He stared at the image on the screen. "That's our baby," he said with a grin, feeling a little light-headed.

As the wand moved Dr. Collins told them what she was showing them then she paused and looked up at them. "And if you look right there you will see that you are having a boy."

Unconsciously Robert did a little fist pump, "Yes!" he said quietly, Anna grinned hearing him.

"I think we know what Dad was hoping for," Dr. Collins said with a grin as well.

"So was Mommy," Anna said smiling at Robert. "I wanted to give you a son."

Robert leaned in and kissed her, "We already have our little girl." There were tears in his eyes as he kissed her lovingly.

"Now we get a little boy. Oh, Robert! I wanted it to be a boy." They were both beaming with happiness as the check-up was finished. Once they were alone in the room and Anna had changed again Robert took her in his arms. They just held each other, their baby is healthy, developing as he should be. Soon they will be married and then they will welcome their son into the world.

After a moment Robert took her hand and they left together. They both had to get back to work. Once they were outside he turned to her, "Are we telling people?"

"If by people, you mean Robin, then yes." Anna leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. I hate to run but I have to get back to work. There's a lot on my plate at the moment."

They both knew why. "I wish that was different," Robert said as he stroked her hair. "See you at home later." With one last kiss, they parted ways.

When Robert walked back into headquarter Guy stopped him before he could get to his office. "There are a couple of men here that you want to talk to."

"Oh, you found them both at the same time," Robert asked with a smile.

"Yeah, they hold up in Simpson's parents' basement." It had taken a couple of days to identify and find them. The two men that had helped Duke had been identified as Ron Simpson and Jeff Banks.

"Good, show me to them." Guy walked him over to the interrogation room. Robert looked through the two-way glass to see if it was the right men. Yeah, that's them. He chuckled to himself seeing their faces. They look about as bad as Duke did the other day. Robert walked in a cocky grin on his face. There was no longer a bandage over the cut by his eye. His lip had mostly healed and they wouldn't be able to tell there were a few good size marks on his abdomen. "Good afternoon gentlemen, I use that term loosely."

They looked up at him and they both felt their stomach drop. That's the guy. They had been told the commissioner wanted to talk to them. This really wasn't happening, was it? They had been hired to beat up the police commissioner. They are going to jail, there's doubt in either of their minds.

"What do you two have to say for yourselves?" Robert said glaring at them.

"We aren't saying anything, we don't have to. I know that," one of them said.

"Which one are you?"

The man didn't answer so Guy, who had followed Robert into the room, did, "That's Jeff Banks, the other one in Ron Simpson."

"Thank you, Guy. So Mr. Banks since you know so much. If you call a lawyer what do you think they are going to say when you tell them you and your buddy here jumped the police commissioner?" Robert asked. They said nothing, not sure of what was happening. "Lavery earned himself three broken ribs that night. Did you know that?" The men across the table from him shook their heads. "Since I am not charging Lavery with assault, what am I going to do with the two of you?"

"You already knocked out my tooth," Simpson said under his breath.

"That's too bad and I don't care!" Robert pulled out the chair and sat down across from them. "You two fools were hired by a complete idiot. Did he tell you who he wanted you to jump?"

They looked at each other, Robert could tell they were trying to figure out what they should do. Then Simpson leaned forwards. "When he saw you coming he gave us a signal. We didn't know who was the target was but figured it would be easy money, the three of us beating up some chump."

"Three hundred and fifty each," Banks looked over at his buddy then back at Robert. "Fast easy cash, we figured." Banks' head still wasn't quite right since Scorpio had knocked him out the other night. "What are you like a ninja?"

"Secret agent, actually but I'm just the police commissioner now."

Their eyes got big as they looked at each other, who was this guy and why was that guy Lavery so pissed off at him? "Look man we didn't know who you were until after. I never would have taken the gig if I'd known he wanted us to attack a cop," Simpson insisted.

"I believe that," Robert agreed with a nod, "You don't look like stupid men. You just did a very stupid thing, didn't you?" As Robert said this he had stood up and leaned on the table between them. He could see the fear in their eyes. They had both flinched when he stood up and were now watching him closely. "I think you both know you made a very big mistake and I think I cause more than, what was it?"

"Three fifty," Guy said.

"You can't fix your tooth for that and I think you should get checked out, I might have given you a mild concussion."

The two men just nodded, "You kicked our asses. We aren't telling anyone about this." Simpson started saying, 'We did makeup that there was a bar fight."

"Keep it that way. You won't want people knowing the commissioner did this or that it was actually three on one," Guy said from behind Robert.

"Now as long as I never see either of you in here for anything this matter will never be brought up." Robert glared at them, "If you mess up," he shook his head, the look on his face they knew it wouldn't be good if they did. "Well, don't mess up."

Was he going to kick their asses or let them go, neither of them was quite sure. Finally, Simpson asked, "Is that it?" he didn't know if they could leave or what.

"I am in a very good mood today so yeah, that's it. This is your one and only pass, don't make me regret this." Robert turned and walked back out of the interrogation room. Guy followed him shaking his head a little, those men had looked terrified and it had been fun watching Robert mess with them. Hopefully, they realize they are getting a second chance and make better choices in the future. Guy wasn't sure what had Robert in such a great mood but he liked it. He watched him walk to his office. Life with Anna and Robin must agree with him.

Robert didn't want to stay at the office any longer than he needed to today. He wanted to get home, he wanted to celebrate. He was on his way out the door at just after 6:00 and he was feeling very proud of himself. He walked through their door just a few minutes after Anna had and found her in the kitchen talking to Robin and Olin. He grinned at all of them as he walked over and took Anna in his arms hugging her as she continued to talk to Robin about her homework. "And remember, if you want to go over to Becky's this weekend you need to stay caught up on that."

Robin grinned back at her parents who were both smiling at her, "I know and it's under control."

"Oh, is it?"

"I should finish my project tonight, it's not due until Friday, so if I have homework tomorrow I'll have lots of time to finish after dance class."

"Sounds under control," Robert said, still holding Anna. "Can I steal you for a few minutes?" he asked and kissed her neck.

"Yes, you may," she grinned at him. Anna turned as she took his hand then led him out of the kitchen. She sped up a little, pulling him into the middle of the living room. Then turned and smiled brightly at him and threw her arms around her neck. "I wanted to do this earlier." Anna kissed him passionately, pulling him close. "I am so excited that our baby is a boy."

"So am I, oh Anna you have made me so happy and yes I want to talk about the wedding and make all the plans we need to."

"That can wait." Anna's fingers ran through his hair, "This can't," she kissed him again. "We will start planning tomorrow. Tonight, we are enjoying our evening, and we are really going to enjoy it once Robin's is in bed."

"I love how you think," Robert said then kissed her. "Alright, that should do me for a little while. I should make it through dinner but." Anna leaned in and kissed him tenderly, a slow long kiss. "Yeah, alright that will hold me until dessert."

"Am I dessert?" Anna asked with a playful grin.

Robert laughed, "That wasn't what I was thinking but it is now." Anna then led him over to the couch, they cuddled together just enjoying a little time alone before dinner. Robert couldn't believe how happy he feels. This is all so amazing. After all this time he knew they had finally found what had been so important, what had been missing. Soon they will be married and then they will welcome their son into the world together.

Over dinner, they had told Robin that the baby is a boy. After that, she spent the rest of the meal talking happily about what she was looking forward to doing with her baby brother. Robin had been in bed for close to forty-five minutes when Robert leaned in and kissed Anna's shoulder, he had been giving her a massage. "I think I've waited long enough for dessert," he whispered in her ear.

Anna giggled, "I think you have too. You've outdone yourself with the pampering thing evening." She turned to face him. "I think it's time to take this to our bedroom." Anna stood up and held out her hand, he took it as he stood up as well. Anna bit her lip, then touched his side. "Are you sure you're ready for this?"

"It's a few bruises. Trust me, I'm more than ready." They turned and hurried up to their room. Robert pulled her into his arms as soon as the door closed. He kissed her passionately as they started pulling at each other's clothing.

"Give me a minute, I'll meet you over there," Anna said biting her lip pointing at the bed.

Robert grinned as she walked backwards towards their bathroom door. "I'll be waiting right over there," he pointed over his shoulder. He got undressed and got into bed. A few minutes later Anna walked back into the room and his breath caught. She was in a baby blue negligee and she looked ravishing. "Get over here you beautiful woman."

"I was hoping I would get to wear this tonight."

"Did you have a pink one as well?" he asked as she climbed into bed with him.

Anna shook her head, "No," she slid closer to him. "I really wanted to hear we are having a boy today."

"So did I."

"The little cheer you let out gave that away," Anna said as her hand slid up his chest then leaned and kissed him. His hand moved up her side pulling her still closer and she moaned into his mouth. His mouth moved down to her neck as he planted slow sensual kisses there. Rolling them more so Anna was on her back and he was on his side. Anna's hand moved up his back, it always should have been like this. Now it will be. Anna's head went back as he nibbled her shoulder. "Mmmm!"

Does she have any idea how these little outfits affect him? All he wants to do is touch, caress, kiss, love her. A hunger started to burn in the pit of his stomach. Robert claimed her lips with such need they both moaned. "I need you, Anna!" She put her hand on his shoulder pushing him back as she sat up. He laid back as she straddled him. Slowly Anna started to rock her hips making them both grin. Robert put his hand on her hips. "Don't tease me." His hand moves to her centre, he knew she was ready for him.

Anna lifted herself up as he posited his hard shaft with her warm opening. He watched her as he filled her, a look of pleasure on her face as she grinned at him then licked her lips. She leaned down and kissed him before sitting up again. She started to rock her hips, Robert reached up and squeezed her breast, pinching her nibble through her negligee. Anna put her head back as she sped up. Closing her eyes, rubbing her mound against his pelvis, she knew she was close already. Then his hand was there touching her. It was electric, she started riding him faster. Calling his name when she reached her release.

Robert sat up kissing her while she was still on his lap, now rocking his hips slowly, giving her a chance to recover. Anna then kissed him, hard. She bit his lip then met his tongue with her then started thrusting her hip. God, she can't get enough of him. She pulled his face down to her breast as she arched her back and started trusting harder on his lap.

Robert freed her breast, taking one in his mouth as his hand moved to the other. He was getting lost in what he was doing when he was pushed back down again. Anna put one hand on his leg. "Oh yes!" She reached up and squeezed her breast as Robert watched, his hands on her hips again. "Mmmm, so good!" He thrust up into her hard, again and again. He didn't know how much longer he could last. She was rocking, matching his thrusts. "Ohh, Robert!"

He couldn't stop, he was so close. Harder, oh yes. "YES!" He heard his name again. Then he was lost in her, he exploded inside her. How can anything feel this perfect? He knows there is nothing that compares to this. Breathing heavily he feels Anna's hand on his chest. Robert opens his eyes to find Anna laying beside him grinning. "That was," he let out a breath, "mind-blowing. You are amazing."

Anna leaned in and kissed him. "And we aren't done yet."
