Chapter 23
It had been a week since Bobby Scorpio had arrived. He was now home and his big sister couldn't be more excited about that. Robin loved getting to hold him. She was interested in how to change a diaper but had agreed with her mom that maybe she didn't need to worry about that quite yet.
Robert had taken the week off so he could be home with Anna while she and Bobby got settled in and figured out a bit of a routine. He walked into the living room to find Anna watching Robin and Bobby. He had fallen asleep in Robin's arms and she couldn't look happier about it. Robert sat down beside Anna, smiling over at their children. "I wish Filomena was here to see this," he said and leaned to kiss her cheek.
Anna smiled with a hint of sadness in her eyes. It was almost a year ago that they lost Filomena. "She would have been so happy for us."
Robert looked over at Anna after getting lost in thought for a moment. "I remember one night I had dropped off Robin and she told me that it wasn't over for us. That one day she just knew we would find our way back to each other."
Anna turned to him, "Really?"
"Yeah, you and Duke weren't together at that time and you were out working on a case I think. We started talking after I had tucked Robin in and with this look that just melted my heart she told me you and I belong together."
"I had no idea." Anna grinned, "It doesn't surprise me. I often heard I would not find another love like the one I share with Roberto," she admitted with a little laugh.
"She understood us so well, right from the start," Robert said smiling happily. They are married and had just welcomed their second child into their lives and he didn't think he could be happier.
"Yes, she did." Anna reached up and turned his head so she could kiss him. "Her little family, all together again, I know she's smiling down on us." Anna stroked his cheek tenderly, "We have an amazing little family."
"I know we do." He pulled her into his arms and leaned back, Anna snuggled in beside him and put her head on his chest. "Sleep while the baby sleeps. Isn't that what they say?"
"It is. I'm not going to sleep but I am going to relax right here for a little while." She slid her arm around him and closed her eyes.
Robert looked over at Robin who was looking down at Bobby, who was still sleeping in her arms. He was grateful she was this happy about this. That all the changes in her life haven't had a negative effect on her. Watching his children while holding Anna in his arms, Robert knew this was what he had been missing. This is the life he has always wanted.
…
Sitting at his desk drinking coffee, Robert was just hoping to stay awake through the day. It was his second day back at work and had hardly gotten any real sleep since his son came home. Robert hadn't expected this need to look in on the baby all the time. To check that he is still fine. He wakes up when Bobby does at night and even though he can't really help much he can't sleep while Anna is up with Junior. I wasn't sure how she did it but seeing Anna flourish as a mother touched his heart.
"You look rough, I thought it was Anna that gave birth," Guy teased as he walked into the office.
Robert looked up when Guy spoke. "Haha, you're a riot."
Seeing how tired Robert looked, "Is the little man not sleeping?" Guy asked before taking a seat.
"He sleeps for what Anna ensures me is the normal amount of time at this stage." Robert rubbed his eyes as he yawned.
"Clearly you aren't," Guy noticed and let out a little laugh. "It's your first baby. I remember that feeling. Never being able to fully relax because what if something happens."
"So this is normal?" Robert asked hopefully.
"Yeah, you get used to the idea of the baby and relax a little over time. My wife used to go in to check if they were still breathing when our kids were babies."
Robert grinned, hearing that made him feel a little better. Anna had told him that after some time he would relax a little more but hearing that other people have this overreaction to everything when there is a new baby in their life made him feel better.
"When is Bobby Scorpio gonna make an appearance here at the station?" Guy asked.
"I think Anna wants to keep him close to home for now but it won't be much longer before I'll be getting regular visits from them." Robert smiled looking forward to those days.
Guy smiled, "There could be a few of the officers that might not let Anna through the squad room with that baby. Everyone seems excited to see Bobby."
"I bet you're bragging that you've already met him."
"I might be," Guy admitted and they both laughed.
"What brought you in here?" Robert asked, ready to get down to work. With that Guy opened the file he had brought in, then started to tell Robert about the case.
…
It had been three weeks since their son had been born and Robert couldn't wait to get home to see him and the rest of his family. Coming home to Anna and their children every day is a happiness he never thought he would find.
When he walked into their kitchen he found them all. Anna was giving Bobby a bath and Robin was supervising. "Hi."
"Hi, Daddy. Bobby spit up all over himself so he gets to have a bath before dinner. Olin is making your favourite."
"Did he?" Robert kissed her cheek then walked over to Anna. He wrapped his arms around her, leaning in so he could look over her shoulder. "Hi, little buddy." He kissed Anna's neck, "Hello beautiful," he whispered, making her smile.
"Welcome home, darling. How was your day?"
"Fine, nothing that interesting happened. I went for lunch with Sean. He mentioned dinner this Saturday."
"Oh, that's right. Tiff and I were talking, they are coming here for dinner that night."
Robert grinned, "I found that out from Sean actually."
"We only talked this morning. So don't start, baby brain didn't make me forget to tell you," Anna told him with a laugh. She turned and passed Bobby to Robert who was now wrapped in a towel.
"I didn't think you had." He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek then looked down at the baby in his arms. "Now you little man, we better get some clothes on you. A diaper might be good too." Then Robert turned and walked away with his son. Anna smiled after them.
Robin had sat down at the table after Robert had arrived. "I'm so glad Daddy lives with us now. That he is Bobby's daddy too."
"You really mean that, don't you?" Anna said as she sat down beside her daughter. So much had changed in their life over the last year and through it all Robin had worn a smile. She truly loved that her family were all together now. That gave Anna such comfort, not having to worry about Robin struggling with any of this.
"Yes," Robin said with a confident nod. "I love Uncle Duke and I miss him sometimes but I love having Daddy here. I always wanted us to be a family and now we are. And I'm a big sister," she said excitedly.
"Yes, you are." Anna smiled and gave her a hug. "Can I tell you a secret?" Robin nodded happily. "I love seeing Daddy with your brother."
Robin peeked around to make sure Robert wasn't coming back yet. "They are so cute together. Daddy lights up when he holds Bobby."
"Oh I know but he still needs time with his little girl." Robin beamed with happiness, Robert had been making sure Robin didn't feel left out just because there was now a baby in their lives.
Anna smiled contentedly, her family is all here, all together. She was certain things would only get better from here on out. So many wonderful things yet to happen.
…
It had been a wonderful Saturday, the weather was unseasonably warm so it was a beautiful day for Robert to take Robin skating and they were gone most of the afternoon. That was after spending the morning at home. Robin had helped Anna tidy while Robert kept his son occupied. Bobbie was almost a month old and had his daddy wrapped around his finger. Seeing them together, bonding, Robert fusing over Bobby, Anna could watch them all day. There was a peacefulness in her life now. The mistakes of the past have been corrected. There were so many wonderful memories waiting to be made and Anna was looking forward to all of that.
Anna enjoyed her quiet afternoon at home. She had even napped a little while Bobby did. When she woke up Anna sat and enjoyed a nice cup of tea and read the paper. Taking a little time for herself. With a new baby in the house, these moments didn't happen often. With a smile on her face, Anna thought about her little family, the family that was meant to be.
Anna had just finished feeding Bobby when Robert and Robin got back, they had brought dinner from Kelly's. After they had finished eating Robert had taken Bobby up to his room.
It had been some time since Robert had gone to put Bobby to bed so Anna told Robin she was going to go see what happened to him. Anna walked upstairs and into the nursery, smiling as she entered the room. Robert was asleep in the rocking chair, Bobby cuddled in his arms, sound asleep as well. She tilted her head watching them, it touched her heart every time she got to see them like this. After a moment she walked over to them, "I think it's time Bobby got into bed."
As she started to lift their son from his arms Robert started to wake, "He snuggles right in and before I know it we're both asleep."
"I've noticed this happen before, yes," she said softly as she turned to the crib. Anna kissed her still sleeping son on the forehead then gently placed him in bed.
Robert got up and walked up beside her, "He's perfect, Anna. Both our babies are because they have you as a mother."
Anna turned to him, "You had a little something to do with them as well you know." Anna smiled as she took his arm, "Come on, your son isn't the only one that wants to cuddle with you."
Robin smiled seeing them walk back downstairs, "Did Bobby fall asleep on you again?"
"Yes."
"And put him to sleep," Anna added.
"Again," Robin asked with a laugh. "Come on Daddy, you said we'd watch a movie this evening."
"I know I did. Have you picked something?" Robert walked over and joined Robin, Anna sat on her other side. Once they were all settled in Robin started the movie. Robert could get used to days like this. This had been what he had dreamed of when they were first married. This was the life he had always wanted with Anna. He looked over at her, their daughter snuggled in her arms. She is the most beautiful woman he will ever know. Robert leaned over and kissed her cheek, Anna turned and smiled at him before turning back to the movie.
When the movie was over Robin hugged and kissed her father then Anna went up to tuck her in. She was about to head back down when she saw Robert come up the stairs. He put his finger to his lips as he walked towards her. Robert took her hand then led her into their bedroom. Anna was grinning at him as he closed the door behind them. "What are you doing?" she asked, a slight giggle in her voice.
"They are both in bed and I think we need a little time for us."
"Do you?" Anna started walking backwards, moving towards the bed. Robert nodded and started to follow her. "I think you're right." Anna bit her lip.
"Really?" he asked with a little grin. He knew they had been waiting until she had healed from giving birth. Anna just nodded then she reached out and started unbuttoning his shirt. "This day just keeps getting better," he said as he pulled her into his arms kissing her passionately.
Oh how she has missed this, her body instantly knew what was coming. Intense need coursed through her body. Was it possible that her response to him was even more intense now? Everything else was put out of her mind as his hands moved over her body, as he removed her clothing. She was pulling at his clothes, they were in the way and she needed to touch him.
Robert lowered her to the bed, "Let me know if it hurts," he whispered as his hand moved between her legs. They both moaned as his fingers slid past her moist folds.
"I need you," she whispered, looking him in the eyes. She could tell he was still a little unsure so she reached down and started stroking him, "I want this." She claimed his lips as he buried himself in her. Her head went back as he kissed her neck, their hips finding that perfect rhythm.
Anna called out in ecstasy, "We don't want to wake anyone up," Robert said into her ear, a grin on his lips.
"Rollover." He quickly did what she wanted. That's right there is a chance of an interruption she thought as they repositioned. "We'll be doing this again later tonight but I think we better hurry this up," Anna said, smiling down at him as she rocked on his shaft.
"You're right." Robert's head went back as his hand moved up her stomach to her chest. As she took control he knew it wouldn't be long before he lost himself to her. Oh, the things she did to him. As she picked up the pace he started thrusting his hips to match her movements. "Oh, Anna!"
"Yes, baby!" She was on the verge and knew he was close. "Touch me."
His hand moved to her center, her swollen mound so sensitive to his slightest touch. Her head went back as she came unravelled, Robert following right after her. Breathing heavily she smiled down at him. "You are beautiful. My god am I lucky to have you. I love you." Anna leaned down and kissed him.
Robert rolled them so they were both on their sides, "I want to hold you like this until he wakes up. I don't want to move, I don't want you to move, just stay right here like this." His hand moved gently up and down on her side.
"I'm not going anywhere." She leaned in and kissed him tenderly. She wasn't tired but she closed her eyes as she snuggled in a little closer. "Tell me about your day with Robin."
"Alright." He started to stroke her hair as he told her about skating and how much fun they had both had. A simple day like this may actually be the perfect kind of day he thought happily as they continued to talk happily about his and Robin's day, waiting for Bobby to wake up for a feeding.
A/N: Sorry about the delay, for now, I'm writing on my phone so it's taking me longer at the moment. Stick with me there will still be more. Thanks for reading.
