As Kerry mentally prepares for her next scene, while sitting in her trailer. There's a knock on the door. She yells, "Come in." The door opens and in walks a sight for sore eyes. She stands up and squeals as he walks toward her. He hugs her with a smile as they embrace. She giggles as she says, "I told you it would be okay." He smiles as their hug ends and he says, "Yeah. You did. Thanks again for getting me that attorney. You're a life saver."
Kerry has a seat, and motions for him to do the same. And he sits across from her in the chair opposing hers. She takes a breath as she replies, "You're welcome Colby. But Judy is the one you should thank. I called her and she did the rest. I'm just glad we got it handled before Shonda could get wind of it." He nods as he responds, "Right. I can't thank you enough for managing to keep that on the low. I honestly owe you and Judy big time."
Kerry replies, "Yes. You do. So what happens now?" He sighs as he says, "My attorney says I'm good. I just have to stay out of trouble." Kerry gives him a knowing look, and he responds, "I know. I know. I swear I'm trying Kerry. I really am." She sees the sincerity in his eyes, along with his struggle. She knows he means well, and no amount of her beating a dead horse is going to help. Like she and Tony discussed; he's a grown man. And has to be responsible for getting himself together if he wants to keep his job.
Nonetheless, she feels the urge to say something. As he looks at his friend. He can see it in her eyes; she has something to say. So he presses her by asking, "What is it Kerry?" She's hesitant at first, and he sees her apprehension. So he pushes her further as he says, "Come on. Talk to me." She hears his urging, and knows she has to say it. After she takes a breath she asks, "What about rehab?" Surprisingly to her, his expression doesn't change; it's like he expected it as he replies, "I thought about that. But we're shooting now. So there's no way I could afford to do it."
Even he has to admit his reply is bogus. And he knows more so that she's going to call him on it. So he cuts her off as he says, "Over the break I'll go." She replies, "Which break?" He responds, "The winter break is a good time, right?" She admittedly says, "Yes. It is. But what are you going to do in the meantime?" He responds, "I'm going to stay clean and stay clear of any drama."
She looks at him as she asks, "How are you going to do that Colby? We both know when left to your own devices, you can't contain yourself. Which is how you ended up arrested in the first place." He's getting annoyed. Despite knowing her intentions are good; he doesn't feel like going through this right now. So he says, "With all due respect Kerry. I know you love me, and you mean well. But, I'm grown. I've got this."
She wants to fire back so badly, reminding him of how she just had to help his grown ass out by calling Judy, and an attorney to get him out of his last scrape. But instead, she hears Tony in her head telling her to let it go. Knowing she can't help someone who doesn't want help. With a brief pause lingering just enough to bring minimal but noticeable discomfort for both of them. The tension leaves as fast as it filled the room. As she surprises him by responding, "Good. I'm glad you've got it. Just know that you don't have to have it all by yourself. I'm here for you."
Just like that, he goes from being annoyed with her, to being grateful to her for her support. And he reaches out to her, as she takes his hand too and says, "Thank you." She replies, "You're welcome." They share a smile and a moment that breaks as her phone buzzes.
She checks it and sees they'll be ready to shoot her scene in a half hour, per the text. His words cause her attention to leave her phone, as she looks up and hears him say, "So you two are getting it in tonight on camera huh?" She responds smiling as she asks, "Why do you say that?"
He replies, "Because of the big ass sign that says closed set on the outer door of the studio, and the lack of cars in the parking lot." She nods as she says, "Good observation. Yeah, we're filming the Vermont scene." He nods as he says, "Are you still nervous about being naked?" She waves her head back and forth as she says, "A little. I'm so much bigger now. I don't know how they're going to hide my belly."
He replies, "I'm sure you'll be fine. With the right lighting and camera angles; it will work. Plus they don't have to show full body shots. Just really mid back up, or chest to chest up." She agrees as she nods and says, "Good point. But making love on camera at six months pregnant isn't the easiest thing to do. I feel huge."
He smiles at her as he says, "You look amazing, not huge. And there's nothing sexier than a pregnant woman." She grins as she says, "Thanks. You sound like T." He nods as he says, "You're welcome. And I'm glad to hear he's keeping you focused. You two have really turned the corner. Marriage and a baby on the way, that's unbelievable."
She sees the genuine happiness he has for her and she says, "Thanks Colby. It feels surreal sometimes. But it's really starting to come together for us." He nods as he says, "Well, you two deserve it. It's not like you haven't had to fight for it. With complications from the situation in general, and Shondazilla wreaking havoc. It's a real wonder that you've been able to carve out a happy life for yourselves." She chuckles at his name for her, and so does he as she says, "True. She's definitely been on her mission; but she's not alone. We've withstood pushback from multiple sides."
He agrees as he replies, "Right. How are your parents doing with everything?" She smiles as she responds, "Great. Tony talked to my dad last night; they were making plans for Thanksgiving." Columbus replies, "Cool, holiday family dinners. Those are always interesting." She smiles as she says, "Yes. They are. We'll see how it goes. But, I have faith it will be fine. He responds, "You sound like you're a little stressed about it. But honestly, you shouldn't have any worries. Tony's dad's a good dude, and he loves you two together. Besides that, he knows how to party. Man, Sam had me dying at the reception. He was cracking jokes and talking smack with the best of them."
Kerry giggles remembering how fun their reception was, and how she had to admit Samuel was the life of the party for sure. As she sits in thought a bit, she replies, "Yeah, it was great to see him so lively. He was a real hoot. Along with all the family to be honest." He agrees with her, everyone had a great time. He follows with, "Anyway, I'm proud of him for manning up where you're concerned. You deserve to be happy, and it looks like he's making you happy. So it's all good."
She appreciates his support and returns the sentiment as she says, "Thanks, you do too." He hears her and says, "I'm working on that. Brandy and I are seeing a therapist." She is surprised and tries to contain her shock, but fails as she says, "Uhm, wo.. That's good." He breaks into laughter immediately and she follows as she hears him say, "Damn you suck at lying."
