And, if it was going to happen with anyone. Anyone at all. It had to be with Ker. She is the only woman he'd want to have this second journey with.
He ponders all of this while still taking in the essence of his Isa. He scans her face, as she takes a deep breath, while she rests. She notably has her mother's ears, nose, toes, and lips, but her eyes. Isa's eyes, are his gift to his baby girl, along with her hair color. Gifts he too got from his dad.
He pauses momentarily, as he thinks about their familial ties. Their families bonded, not just by blood. But by a fondness of each other too across the board. Family is everything to them; which is why it has been such a delight for their families to share in their excitement of bringing baby Isa into the world.
His mind now shifts to recounting the last two weeks of family coming and going. Most notably the big cookout at his dad's house. It was a great family event with both sides of their families present.
It was a great day indeed. All of the smiles, laughs, food, and love being shared was absolutely amazing. They spent an entire week at his family's estate.
Wanting to review some of the photographed captured moments he has stored on his phone. Masterfully he grabs his phone from the table, without disturbing his little one.
As he scrolls through the photos. He comes across one of his dad holding Isa, and one of him and Kerry. The smiles on their faces is incredible. You can feel the joy, and the love in all of the pictures.
As he continues to reflect on the day. He has to admit, he hadn't seen his dad smile that way in a long time. It gave him quite the jolt to see that kind of happiness radiating from him. With him being rather sickly lately; it's no doubt that baby Isa was truly a pick me up for his dad, and the whole family.
Still sorting through all of the pictures. He continually grins with pride as he looks at the various shots he took of their families fawning all over his little girl.
But, perhaps the sweetest photos were of Anna and Tess holding Isa, and grinning as they held her. The warmth his girls have shown toward Isa, and he and Kerry's relationship has been special.
He knows Kerry appreciates their support and kindness, and so does he. The genuineness of their love for them is indisputable. He couldn't have asked for a better response from his girls, or his family in general.
Not that it's a surprise. They've always been accepting and loving of their union. And this isn't the first time they've spent family time together. He fondly recalls the last trip they all took a few weeks ago to Hawaii.
That was another wonderful time spent in paradise. No phones, no outside drama. Just fun in the sun, and family being together.
The trip couldn't have come at a better time. With his dad being sick lately, and the family being in need of some reboot time. Plus the drama with Shonda on an all-time high. It was perfect timing.
And admittedly, when they returned a few days ago, it was worth it to find out from Judy how pissed Shonda was they weren't available while on vacation. He smiles thinking of how inconvenienced she must have been, having to tell Channing they weren't obligated to appear on the summer tour. Score one for the good guys, he thinks.
Clearing his mind of that nonsense. He goes back to thinking about their family time, and their bond. Regardless of how good their families have been to them.
He also knows that things could've easily played out a different way given the circumstances. Which is why he and Kerry remain grateful of how well their lives are going right now.
Having put down his phone, he again sips more of his coffee. But still considers realizations he had during the cook out.
He recalls how impressed Kerry's parents were when they saw how receptive and loving his family was toward Isa and Kerry.
And, it did his heart good to see everybody having fun and enjoying life and each other; while making wonderful memories to reminisce about later. Yes. Again, it was a great day enjoyed by all.
He again, kisses his little one on her forehead as she continues to rest. He can tell she's now into her deep sleep. So, it's almost time to lay her back down.
The timing couldn't be better, having finished his final cup of coffee. The effects of his coffee intake is being felt, leaving him needing to use the facilities.
Carefully, he gets up, without waking his passenger. He then makes it to her bedroom, and lays her down in her crib.
Once tucking her in, he eases out of her room and heads to the hall bathroom. After finishing his business, he exits the bathroom and notices the time. It's only 7:30, but he knows Isa is going to be down for the next few hours. So, cashing in on some rest doesn't sound like a bad idea, considering he's been up since last evening.
As he quietly enters the master bedroom, hoping not to wake his wife. He strips down to his birthday suite, a condition he's always the most comfortable in.
After laying his clothes on the bench at the foot of the bed. Kerry turns over onto her stomach, but then she jumps. Her sudden movement scares him, and before he can say anything, she screams, "oh God, Isa!" He watches as she frantically searches the bed and her person for her, as if she expected to still have her in her arms. Right away he realizes she doesn't remember him taking her off of her chest this morning.
