Happy Reading!

As his phone rings Tom is looking at the screen, knowing if he doesn't answer it. She'll just call back. But, he honestly doesn't care. She can't get any more upset if he doesn't answer than she already is, or at least he doesn't think she can. And, at the end of the day, he has the authority to run the set as he sees fit when he's in charge. So, it doesn't matter if she likes how he conducts things or not.

With an air of not giving a damn coming over him; he politely puts the phone back in his pocket as it's ringing, as if he didn't see the incoming call. Because he's already in the men's room. He decides to visit a urinal, and then washes his hands before heading to his office to have a bite before they begin working.

As he walks into his office he smells a familiar scent that makes him smile right away. He looks at the desk where his secretary is sitting and says, "Hello Gayle, it smells like you've got something for me." She grins at him as she replies, "I swear you have impeccable timing. Your wife sent over your favorite lunch, and it was just delivered." He rubs his hands together happily, anticipating the flavor bomb he is about to indulge in.

He picks up the bag as he says, "I am the luckiest man on the planet. Can you do me a favor and get my wife on the line?" She nods as she responds, "I sure will. If Shonda stops calling; I may get the chance."

He drops his head a bit as he says, "I'm sorry about that. Has she been rude to you?" She shakes her head as she says, "No. She left a message on voicemail. I was on another call at the time, and she must be pissed. Because she called three times in 2 minutes."

He sighs as he says, "This is ridiculous. I will call her when I get done eating. And, don't worry about calling my wife; I will call her from my cell instead." She nods as she responds, "Okay. I am going to step out for a bite myself. Your sandwich has my mouth watering, and I am starving."

He nods as he replies, "Good deal. Enjoy your lunch. I'll see you later." She stands as she grabs her things, and says, "Okay. Bye." As he walks away with his lunch in hand, he waves at her and says, "Bye."

When he gets inside his office, he closes the door and has a seat. After getting situated to eat his meal. He prepares to call his wife, but again Shonda calls his phone. He says out loud, "She really needs to get laid." Instead of picking up the phone, he looks at the screen and takes a bite of his Reuben sandwich and puts a fry in his mouth; while reaching over to his fridge to get a Pepsi.

When he sees the call is gone, and she is undoubtedly leaving him another voicemail. He says, "Bixby, call my wife." He then hears ring tones, followed by his loves voice; as she says, "Hey babe." He replies, "Hey baby. I was just calling to thank you for my lunch. It was right on time." She smiles as she says, "You're very welcome my love. I was craving corned beef; so I figured I'd order it for both of us and we can get fat together."

They share a laugh as he swallows his third bite of his sandwich, and he takes another sip of his soda. He then says, "I will gladly be fat and happy with you any day, you know that." She smiles as she responds, "Yes. I do. And I appreciate you for it hon. How is your day going?"

He sits back in his seat as he replies, "It's going well shooting wise. We just have a few reshoots to be done, and I will be on my way home." She's surprised at his response as she says, "Really? You mean you'll actually be home before dark?" He nods as he says, "Yeah. By all accounts we should be done before 6."

"Wow, I am surprised you're getting done so early. Shonda must have had you all on a tight schedule." He replies, "No. Actually she's not here. That's why we are done so early. Dave called me and said she wasn't coming in till later; so he put me in charge. I reorganized the shooting schedule and it seems to have worked."

She's impressed by her hubby and loves on him as she says, "Awe babe. That's great he put you in charge, and your decisions worked out. I'm sure that will impress the higher ups for sure when they look at the budget. That's been a bone of contention for them for a while now."

He nods as he again swallows another bite of his food and washes it down, as he says, "Agreed. We had an entire meeting about the shooting cost being exorbitant. So it's likely they will be a fan of today's work day ending early, especially meaning there's no overtime to be paid for the holiday weekend."

She again agrees as she replies, "That's good honey. I am proud of you. You deserve the recognition, let's hope you get it." He responds, "I'm sure I will get more blame than credit, since Shonda isn't exactly thrilled about my decision."

She's annoyed by what she hears as she responds, "Why? She's not even there? If she wants to control things, it helps if you're present. Otherwise leave people alone to do their jobs. Especially when it's done correctly and the result is making the network happy."
