SmackDown Filming: December 6, 2011
I walk into our locker-room to see Randy lacing up his boots. "You have a Beat the Clock challenge tonight."
Randy gives me a questioning look. "I do?"
"Yeah, you and Wade do."
"What for? I don't remember hearing anything about this."
"There's been a match made between the two of you at TLC on December 18. The winner of tonight's Beat the Clock challenge will get to choose a Tables match, a Ladder match, or a Chairs match to be what type of match that you two will have at the pay per view."
"Okay. I can work with that. What are we looking at for this Beat the Clock challenge tonight?"
"Wade is wrestling in the opening match tonight against Ezekiel Jackson, so he'll set a time for you to beat. Your match is the main event, and you will be facing Dolph. That does mean Vickie will be around, but I'm pretty sure you'll still be fine."
"It would've been a good time for you to come with me to a match if you were being active, but you're not."
"Hey, we're trying to have a baby. Don't be blaming me, Randy."
"I'm not. I'm just saying that if you were active, I'd be asking you to help me out with Vickie tonight."
"Well, if I was active, I'd be glad to join you, but I'm not."
"I know, sweetheart. We're keeping a close eye on Wade's match tonight."
"We?"
"Do you have plans?"
"No…but who said I was going to watch his match?"
"Well, I was hoping you'd help me spot some of his weaknesses."
"Spot his weaknesses? Haven't you wrestled Wade a lot?"
"Yeah, but so have you. Plus, you've always been good at spotting weaknesses."
"I wrestled him once in that Steel Cage match. I guess I'll watch with you. I think we should watch from guerilla though."
"Why?"
"To get in Wade's head a little bit."
Randy smirks. "Sounds like a plan."
I stand with Randy in guerilla as Wade's match starts. "I should give you the heads-up that I'm making you go masquerade mask shopping some time while we're home this week."
"Good." Randy replies as he keeps his eyes on the match. "You're putting effort into this. The money raised from it is going to charity anyway."
"Oh. If it's for charity, I can enjoy it."
"That's good to hear, Rissa. Masquerade mask shopping this week is a fantastic idea. It's only a couple weeks away anyway."
"I figured. Plus, I'll need time to plan out my whole look for it too."
"I will as well."
"Plan what? What suit to wear with the mask?"
"I've gotta try to coordinate with you."
I roll my eyes. "Just wear neutral colors. It'll be fine then."
"We'll look better if I coordinate with you."
"Whatever. I was just trying to make it easier on you."
Randy pulls me closer to him. "I know."
We watch in silence until Wade defeats Ezekiel Jackson to win the match and set the time for Randy to beat.
"Seven minutes and fifty-three seconds." I comment.
"Seven minutes and fifty-three seconds." Randy repeats.
Wade makes his way backstage after talking some trash in the ring. Randy tightens his grip around me as Wade stops by us.
Wade looks directly at Randy. "Try to beat that, Orton."
Randy returns a glare directly at Wade. "I will, Barrett."
Wade rolls his eyes and walks away. Randy and I look at each other.
"I swear he's the most obnoxious person in the WWE." Randy comments.
"I don't know about that. A couple other people make it pretty close." I reply.
"Like who?"
"Alberto Del Rio, John Laurinaitis."
Randy laughs. "Fair enough. Let's head back to our locker-room, so I can figure out how to beat Dolph Ziggler in less than seven minutes and fifty-three seconds."
Ted sits with me in Catering. "Hey, haven't seen or heard much from you recently."
I shrug. "Sorry, we've just not been around each other at the same time."
"It's all good. Did you see me beat Jinder Mahal tonight?"
"I did see that. Congratulations."
"Thanks. How's Randy feeling about this Beat the Clock challenge?"
"He's feeling pretty good actually. He is almost certain that he can beat Wade's time, so he can pick the stipulation."
"Good. What's he leaning towards choosing?"
"He didn't say anything about that to me, but if I know Randy well enough, I'd be betting on a Tables match."
"Okay. That's good. I might have a bet going on that."
"With who?"
Ted shrugs. "Sheamus."
I laugh. "Wow. Making bets on your friend's match stipulation."
"Not the first time that I've bet on something involving a match with at least one of my friends in it."
"I'm aware. I'm going to meet up Randy quickly before his match. I'll see you later."
"See ya."
I go to leave, but as I am going to leave, I almost run into someone. I lock eyes with Daniel Bryan, my ex.
"Daniel." I mutter.
"Marissa." He replies.
I shove past him to head towards my locker-room. Nothing to ruin a good mood like running into an ex boyfriend that I still didn't like.
I watch from guerilla as Randy makes his entrance for his match against Dolph Ziggler. Dolph was already in the ring, with Vickie Guerrero hanging around at ringside. The bell rings, and the match starts.
I look to my left as I notice that someone is standing next to me to watch the match as well. It's Wade Barrett.
Speaking of ruining my good mood, Wade is another one who can do that to me easily.
"Do you have to watch this match from right here, Wade?" I ask.
"Oh relax, Marissa." Wade replies. "I want Randal to win just as much as you do."
"And you can do that from somewhere else."
"I can't hang out around here, old friend?"
"I'd prefer you not to, Wade, because trust me, we're not old friends."
"We're not? Are you still mad about all of our problems from last year?"
"Should I not be? You caused so many problems for me and the people I care about. Hell, you pretty much kidnapped Randy, Eve, and Maryse and had them in Staples Center. Why? Because you were pissy about losing a seven on seven Tag Team match against Team WWE at last year's SummerSlam and you pretty much tried to force me to date you. So excuse me for not liking you. You've only been nice to me a total of one time. When you also had problems with the New Nexus. I may be friends with your girlfriend, but it doesn't mean I like you one bit."
Wade rolls his eyes and walks away. I continue to watch the match. A couple minutes later, after Randy has thrown Dolph back into the ring with less than a minute left, Wade comes in through the crowd and throws Randy into the ring post.
"Son of a bitch." I mutter.
With ten seconds left, Randy gets back in the ring and hits Dolph with an RKO before pinning him.
1…2…3!
"Here is your winner, Randy Orton!"
I smile. "Seven minutes and fifty-one seconds. He won the challenge. Good."
