I was up in the kitchen, cooking a nice breakfast to surprise Randy with. He wasn't awake when I got up this morning, so I just put on one of his sweatshirts to keep me warm and decided to cook a nice breakfast for us to share this morning. I hear Randy coming downstairs as I finish cooking the eggs.
"Good morning, Randy." I say as I see him enter the kitchen.
"Good morning, sweetheart." Randy says as he comes by and kisses my cheek. "I just spent thirty minutes trying to find that sweatshirt that you're wearing."
"Oh. Sorry, I didn't want to get cold. Do you want it back?"
"No, it's fine. It looks good on you anyway."
"Thanks. I should be done in a few minutes."
"Alright, I'm going to check the mail."
"Okay."
I finish cooking the food and start preparing plates for both of us. Randy walks back into the kitchen.
"Anything important in the mail?" I ask.
Randy shrugs. "Just bills. I'll pay them later."
"Okay. Don't forget."
"I won't. This looks delicious."
"Good. I put a lot of effort into it."
"You did fantastic."
"Thanks. Here's your plate, Randy." I hand Randy a plate of food.
"Thank you. I'll get us drinks."
"I can do that."
"You cooked. I can take care of it."
"Okay."
Randy takes his plate to the dining table before coming back to get drinks. "Do you have any intentions on going out before the masquerade ball today?"
"No, why?"
"I'm going to make us mimosas."
"Oh. Thanks." I take my plate and sit down at the table.
Randy joins me and brings our drinks. "Have you heard from Eve at all about how things are going with her and Cody?"
"No, I messaged her last night. I didn't get a response."
"Oh. Who knows then?"
"We'll find out during the arranged Christmas Skype group call."
"I guess that is true. I do need to tell you something though."
"What is it?"
"You know the watch you bought me a couple years ago?"
"Yeah…"
"Well…I kind of dropped it on accident and broke it."
"I know."
"Wait, you know?"
"Yeah, I came across it on Wednesday. I was waiting to see how long it would take for you to tell me."
"Oh. I'm really sorry."
"I'm not mad. This would be a good time to tell you that I did end up getting you a Christmas present after all."
"Really? I thought you couldn't think of anything."
"I figured something out."
"That's nice. Thank you in advance. Glad I'll have something to open on Christmas day."
"I think you'll love it."
"That's great to hear. This food was fantastic. Let me clean up. You just sit there and drink your mimosa."
I was finishing getting ready for the masquerade ball. I was only okay with going at this point because the money raised was going to charity. I didn't like events like this very much.
I finish my makeup and admire myself in the mirror before taking a picture of myself to send to Chelle, Ryse, and Eve. I didn't have my masquerade mask on yet since Randy was waiting downstairs with our masks and my purse. However, I did want to take a few minutes to admire my look without the mask being on. I had a formal navy blue dress on and had done my makeup with colors to coordinate with my look, including a red lip. My hair was curled as well. I smile one last time before I head downstairs.
Once I made it downstairs, Randy looked directly at me.
"So…?" I ask. "How'd I do?"
Randy grins. "You look…absolutely amazing. You're gorgeous."
"Thanks. You clean up nice."
Randy laughs. "Thank you. I haven't gotten you really this formally dressed since our wedding."
I shrug. "I don't do this a lot."
"I know. I just appreciate it when you do."
"That's nice to know."
Randy grabs his phone to take a quick picture of us together. "Just real quick before we leave."
"Okay."
Randy takes the picture. "Let's go."
"Are we putting on our masks?"
Randy shrugs. "We can do that when we get there."
"Okay. Works for me."
Randy parks the car and looks at me. "Do I still look good?"
I smile. "You do. Do I still look good?"
"You look fantastic. Here." Randy puts my masquerade mask on for me.
"Thanks." I reply as he puts his masquerade mask on as well.
"No problem. Stay put."
"Why?"
"Just for a few seconds."
"Okay then."
Randy exits the car and comes around to help me out of the car. "Ma'am."
I smile as I take his hand to exit the car. "Sir."
Randy closes my car door and locks the car behind us. "Are you ready to head inside?"
"Yeah, let's get inside."
We head up to the front, and Randy hands over our tickets to get us in. We make it inside and manage to claim seats without being noticed.
Randy looks at me. "Nobody has said a word to either of us about being wrestlers."
I smile. "Yeah, that's good. No one has said anything yet."
Randy and I look at each other after finishing food.
"There's music playing." Randy whispers.
"I've noticed that." I reply.
"Will you dance with me, Rissa?"
I look at him. "I guess I can dance with you for a little bit. I just don't want to draw too much attention. Do you know what this reminds me of?"
"What does this remind you of?"
"It reminds me of prom."
"Really. Why's that?"
"Just being this formal, all the dancing…it just feels like a prom to me."
"Which prom though?"
I shrug. "Any of the four we went to really."
"So a masquerade ball at the end of 2011 reminds you of proms from the late nineties?"
"The last prom was in 2000 actually. I graduated high school in 2000."
"Really? Yeah, I guess that makes sense."
"It does make sense. Because it's the truth."
"Yeah, can I make a joke about you dating Chris or no?"
I roll my eyes. "Only one."
"Chris is so much older than you that he was making his debut in the WWF while you were still in high school. He debuted in WWF in 1999. You graduated in 2000. Then, you dated him."
"And there's your joke. Can we just dance now?"
Randy stands up and extends a hand to me. "Will you dance with me?"
I take his hand as I stand up. "Sure."
Randy takes me out to the dance floor, and we dance together without speaking a word.
