I'm sorry if this chapter sorta sucks...I had some trouble writing it. I can't find the Iron Man 2 movie script online and trust me, I've looked everywhere. So I might rush through the ending of Iron Man 2. Don't hate me please! lol if one of you could help me find the movie dialogue/script for Iron Man 2 though, I would be very appreciative!

It all happened so fast, a deranged man was on the Indy track with electrified whips, hitting cars and nearly splitting them in half. I ignored Pepper and Natalie as I grabbed one of the two red suitcases from her and ran as fast as I could, despite drinking nearly three cups of vodka, I felt incredibly sober when I saw the lives that were in danger.

FLASH!

"You're sure you can handle this? Remember, you only open this if it's an emergency and I'm not there." Dad gave me a serious look.

"Dad, I know how to operate the suit. You can trust me." I smiled.

"Tyra, this isn't a thing you use for play-time or to feel like a badass. This thing can be considered a weapon. An extremely dangerous one. You're sure you can handle it?"

"Of course I can."

FLASH!

My ears were flooded with screams as I flew over to the Indy track like my life depended on it.

Well, my dad's life depended on it anyway that's for sure.

I landed on the track to see an unidentified man with an arc reactor on his chest that powered two whips he held in both hands. I tried assessing the situation, not sure what to do at first, this was probably the first time I ever fought against someone in the armor.

Okay...well here are the facts...

1) He basically showed up out of nowhere and...2) He went onto the track, from what I've gathered, to assassinate my dad.

It was obvious from the footage I saw on TV that my father was the main target, when he saw me however, I think he could tell who I was exactly. It was almost seemed as if his little whips were glowing even brighter than they were previously.

I guess he plans to kill me as well...

In the distance and amongst the wreckage, my dad groans in pain as he crawls out of one the cars. I sigh in relief when I know he's okay, but I know that I have to apprehend the man in front of me before he can do anything else. I get nervous, and resist the urge to vomit. I pull back the facepiece to the helmet and glare at the man in front of me as I point at him.

"You need to turn those whips off and put your hands above your head or I will hurt you." I threatened him.

"Little girl is very funny." The man spoke with a Russian accent.

I feel my face heat up with anger and embarrassment before the facepiece comes back on.

"Well this little girl is gonna kick your ass." I told him.

As reluctant as I am before, I shake the nervousness away as I fly towards him at lightning speed and fire repulsor beams at him. He's more spry than he appears when he dodges my attacks and starts throwing his whips at me. I barely evade him, although there are many scuffs along the armor. Finally, I fire at the ground in front of him, kicking up dirt to blind him temporarily as I move to attack next. I fly at him once more, but I underestimate the Russian man as he manages to wrap one of the whips around my neck.

Shit snacks.

I could feel the area around my neck heating up at a rapid pace.

"Shit..." I gasped.

Think! THINK!

I move quickly, grabbing at one of the whips, and yanked him closer towards me with the help of the armors extra strength and pull as hard as I can. As he was flung over to me, I held out my fist, using it to punch him in the face which sent him and disentangle the whips from me. I gasped for air as the helmet adjusted itself, although I was getting critical readings from JARVIS. I heard a car horn going off and I jumped out of the way just in time. Happy came to the scene driving like a mad man and crashed into the man, pushing him up against the fence. The window then rolled down.

"Are you both alright?" Happy asked.

Oh thank god!

The face piece of my helmet came off and I simply nodded, unable to say much at the moment. Dad comes over and gives me a very thankful nod before glaring at Happy.

"Um yeah…were you heading towards us, or him?!" Dad then snapped.

"I was just trying to scare him!" Happy defended.

"I couldn't tell!" Tony yelled sarcastically.

As everyone continued bickering, I saw the man moving.

"Uh guys?"

"ARE YOU BOTH OUT OF YOUR MIND?! GET IN THE CAR! BOTH OF YOU!" Pepper hollered at us.

Well...let's just ignore the Russian man trying to kill us. By all means, let's just leave.

"GUYS?" I tried pointing at the Russian man stirring a little.

Pepper continued to ignore me.

"NOW!" Pepper glared at me.

I simply stood there in surprise knowing that Pepper never yelled at me like that unless she was furious or scared, but this was likely a combination of both. Dad sighed in defeat and started making his way towards the car opening the door. Pepper screamed as the Russian used his whips to cut the car door in half. Dad dropped the other half of the car door in shock.

"I tried warning you guys!" I pointed out.

Pepper and Happy were going ballistic trying to ram into the man with the car repeatedly as Dad kept telling Pepper to give him the red suitcase she held in her arms. I would have normally been laughing at this picture considering this was something I usually saw in movies or on TV. It was like my life was a sitcom in some way.

Aaah...the story of my life...

But now wasn't necessarily the time for laughing considering this man was a huge threat.

He HAS the arc reactor. As in created his own arc reactor. We thought that no one would be able to create this technology for years yet here it was now.

I put those thoughts aside and grabbed one of the man's electrifying whips and used my strength to throw him away from Happy and Pepper in the car. The man got up with little problems and then threw his whip around my neck again before I could manage to push my dad out of the way too.

"Miss Stark, the metal armor is weakened through the arc-reactor powered whips from your assailant. It's melting through. If you don't hurry, you could get critically injured or die." JARVIS warned me.

Fuck!

"You die now…"

The man grinned evilly as he got me by the waist with his other whip and began electrocuting me with it. I can't help but scream out from the sudden pain, and just as JARVIS predicted, my throat is burning all while I'm being electrocuted. I feel my body grow weaker and weaker as I raise my arm to fire at him, and I'm rescued by my father who interjects at the last second. I'm falling to the ground, unable to get up and unable to cry out for help. My throat feels like it's on fire, and I'm gasping for air.

"JARVIS! Open the armor!" Happy shouts.

"Opening the armor now." JARVIS replies.

"Oh my God! Her throat!" Pepper screams.

"Pepper focus! We gotta get her to a hospital and fast!" Happy cries out.

I blink tiredly and continue to gasp for air. Before I lose consciousness, I see Iron Man, my father, picking me up in his arms.

When I wake up, the first thing I can hear is that faint beeping of a heart monitor nearby. While my throat still burns, the pain is lesser than it once was. I blink slowly as my vision adjusts to the light, and I groan softly at the brightness of the room. Once again, Pepper is sleeping at my side in a chair and to my surprise, Natalie is also there. I hear Natalie talk on the phone, muttering in a really low and hushed tone.

"You not only brought her to a secret base but you showed it to her? What else did you say to her? She's only nineteen Phil, a nineteen year old girl with a learning disability who was given a weapon she had no hope to control...wait...personal? Phil, that's ridiculous. I barely know her and- -...don't you dare bring up my past again."

Natasha notices me stir, and abruptly hangs up her cellular device.

"Ms. Potts, she's waking up." Natalie gently shakes Pepper. "Hey there, sleepy head. How're you feeling?"

Natalie smiles at me, a genuine smile, as she places a hand on my forehead to brush hair from my face. I try to speak before Pepper is awake and shaking her head at me.

"Honey, your throat had severe burns from your attacker. You're not allowed to speak for awhile, alright?" Pepper blinks away tears.

I stop myself from talking and simply nod in response.

"We're gonna get you out of here as soon as the doctor checks up on you, okay?" Pepper tells me.

"I'll go find a nurse to let her know she's awake." Natalie informs her.

Pepper doesn't say anything as Natalie leaves the room and gets up to sit on the bed with me. I find myself gently maneuvered until my head is lying on her shoulder, and she's holding me in her arms.

"I'm so glad you're okay." Pepper murmurs softly.

After getting out of the hospital with a bunch of paparazzi swarming me, Pepper arrived with Happy, and escorted me into the limo. Considering I couldn't really talk to them anyway, I just smiled and waved because it was all I could do.

But hey! I have an excuse not to talk to anyone now!

Pepper brought me a scarf to hide my bandaged throat, knowing this all had to be kept under-wraps anyway. The entire journey home was mostly a blur because I was on a morphine drip on the plane, but there were several occurrences that I was reminded of Natalie's phone call at Monaco. Not only was it bizarre, but it sounded like they were conversing about me (like who else would they be referring to? Girl with a learning disability? Check. Girl with a reckless father? Check.) Either way...

It was...concerning. Maybe Natalie isn't who she claims to be.

"Do you want me to call your father and tell him how you're doing?" Pepper asked me.

If you must...

I blink dazedly at Pepper and give her a tired nod as I sink further down into my seat. Happy brings over a blanket, noticing that I'm shivering before he turns on a small television on the plane. On the news, everything regarding the events in Monaco is replaying over and over, minus the part about my serious injuries. It's raising the questions of the armor being in safe hands with the Starks, or if the arc reactor technology is safe at all in our hands. No one has yet to figure out who the mysterious attacker is.

"She can't talk, Tony...no I'm not lying. She literally can't talk. Her neck is a little messed up right now...she got severe burns along her throat! It's gonna take a long time for the burns to heal. She's gonna have to find some different way of communicating in the meantime...I'm sorry, Tony... why do you think she would hate you?...we'll be back at the mansion in several hours, but I have to leave. I'm busy running your company being the new CEO and all...okay bye, Tony." Pepper then flipped her phone shut.

Dad thinks I hate him? God damn it...I'm gonna have to fix this...now I feel bad.

I moan softly, wincing at the slight pain. Pepper notices and gets the attention of a qualified and licensed medic we hired, who ups my morphine. In seconds, I'm in a huge daze again, barely able to keep my eyes open. As much as I wanted to talk to Pepper about my father, it would have to wait until my mind was much more clear.

FLASH!

"Tyra, you have to maintain your stance if you ever hope to block me." The redheaded beauty tells me.

"I'm not strong like you, Natasha. I'm sorry." I frowned.

"Don't be sorry, be better and learn from your mistakes. Now...again. Block my attack. I'm gonna hit harder."

FLASH!

"Shit kid...I think you have a knack for archery huh?"

"Really, Clint? You had to steal my student?" Natasha smiled fondly at her comrade.

"Oh come on, Nat. She's earned a break for cryin' out loud. You've been running her ragged. She's good. More than good. She's a quick learner- -" Clint rambles.

"Who still has a long way to go." Natasha smirked. "She can do more archery with you when she's done with me for the day."

"If my arms aren't broken off by then." I grumbled.

"What was that? More training?"

"Fuck no! I mean- -fuck no, sir!" I mocked.

As Clint is laughing hysterically, Natasha gives me a stern look.

FLASH!

By nightfall, I'm situated back in my room, and hesitantly take out the IV that's attached to the bag of morphine. I kept adding mental reminders during my drugged state, to do a little research on a certain someone. I grab my laptop before heading down to the workshop, where my father was absent from surprisingly. I hook up my laptop to a device, making sure I was untraceable.

Alright...time to search for Natalie Rushman.

Legally speaking, Natalie Rushman existed, but at the same time there was nothing about her that I could dig up.

As if anyone has a squeaky clean record, I'm not buying it.

It hadn't been completely official, but I was a SHIELD agent.

Maybe there's something on one of their databases that I can use?

I feel stumped as my fingers hover above the keyboard, and then I'm doing a thorough search on the name Natasha before I realize it. My dreams mentioned her name, maybe her real name. Who was Natalie- -or rather Natasha, really? Finally, my hacking into SHIELD's database pays off, and one name shows up on my screen.

Natalia Alianovna "Natasha" Romanoff

I click on the file, reading everything I can about this person while also searching for a picture to go with the name. It's almost chilling how the redheaded assassin's image conveys how dangerous she truly is, her deathly stare in the photograph, some blood spatter on the side of her face. The longer I stare at the several year old long mugshot, the more creeped out I truly am.

Holy shit, she worked for the KGB?! Why would SHIELD recruit someone like her?!

I erase any traces of the search on my laptop and transfer any important files I have onto a flashdrive, and to make sure I'm safe, I dispose of the laptop properly before ordering a new one online.

It had been at least a week since the whole Monaco incident, but things were looking up in a way. Even though Pepper was extremely busy as of late, I found ways to occupy my time. There was still the fact that Natasha/Natalie was undercover and I still needed to confront her.

"Hey, sweet stuff. How are you feeling?" Dad smiled at me.

I'm being gently shaken awake on the couch and glance up at my father as he takes a seat on the couch next to me. I only held up my hand and gave him a not very enthusiastic thumbs up.

"I figured...come on. Let's get you to bed."

I'm surprised when dad snakes his arms around me before picking me up bridal style.

"Your uh...IV is in your room right? With the morphine and uh...you know?" Dad mutters awkwardly.

He takes me up to my room and immediately I move to grab a notepad and pen that were lying on my bed.

"Relax, Pepper told me that I should change your bandages...I'll be right back." Dad smiled at me.

Dad returned a few minutes later and slowly took off the old bandages. He looked at me in surprise and touched my throat gently. I shudder from the sudden touch, and inch away.

"That's almost impossible...it's only been a week..." Dad mumbled.

I looked at him in confusion.

"Your burns are almost completely healed." He stared at me in awe.

...okay?

I raised a eyebrow as I stare at him skeptically. When he applies cream to my throat and places new bandages on, he leans back and gives me a small smile.

There's no way my throat's almost healed. He's just trying to make me feel better right?

I grab the notebook and pen, and begin writing as fast as I can.

Dad, I'm sorry I've been a little mean to you, but it's only because I'm worried. I can still tell that you're hiding something from me...

As he reads the notepad, his expression falls and he looks almost...scared.

"Tyra, I'm not sure if I can tell you..." Dad mumbled. "It's...a little sensitive subject right now..."

I write some more.

Well at least we're getting somewhere...you're not denying anything.

Dad merely shrugs, becoming more playful, but I'd had enough of skirting around each other.

When will you tell me? Before or after something bad happens again?

I felt tears stinging in my eyes and I resisted the urge to look away. Dad surprised me as he reached over and wiped the tears away with his thumb.

"The last thing I want is to hurt you..." Dad muttered. "I'm...uh...I'm not sure how to say this...but I- -"

"Sir, there's an incoming call from Miss Rushman. She insists that its urgent." JARVIS interrupted.

Dad got out his cellphone and told JARVIS to connect the call on his device. Dad got up from his spot and seemed conflicted as he glanced over at me one last time.

"Get some rest kiddo...we have big plans for your old man's birthday party." He attempted to joke. "And don't forget to eat dinner! It can't be solid food!" He reminded me.

I meekly raised my hand and waved goodbye to him as he left my room.

God damn it JARVIS...

"Miss Stark, wake up."

Something shook me in attempt to wake me up. I groaned thinking it was Pepper waking me up for the day and turned over on my bed, trying to go back to sleep.

"Miss Stark. I won't ask again."

I rubbed my eyes and saw Natasha standing by me wearing a skin tight suit.

She looks like some secret agent...oh wait...she is one...

At first, I'm thinking about the nearest escape route considering this woman could kill me at any given moment, but she's still standing there.

"We need to speak with you." She told me. "Now please...get dressed.

I rolled my eyes as I stood up and gathered some clothes before going to the bathroom to change and returned to her while yawning.

What time is it anyway?

Natasha/Natalie went over to the window and opened it before glancing back at me.

What? You want me to jump out the window?

As if reading my mind, Natasha folds her arms and gives me a stern look.

"Is that a problem?" Natasha asked.

I give her a blank stare that pretty much voiced my thoughts.

"Relax, it's not a far drop." Natasha rolls her eyes. "Whether you want to or not, you're coming. So get used to the idea."

Well fuck you too.

Later on, we made it to a SHIELD base where I'm reunited with a familiar face.

Nick Fury of course...

"We meet again Miss Stark." Director Fury smiled at me. "Is your throat feeling any better?"

I merely shrug, and give the two individuals a suspicious glare as I get ready to run for the hills. Director Fury senses as much and puts a hand on my shoulder.

"Listen, we know that you've figured out Natasha's identity. So let's just get that out of the way first, shall we?"

Natasha stares at me with an unreadable expression for what seems like ages, before she finally cracks a small smile.

"I'll admit...I'm actually a little impressed with you. How did you figure it out?"

I snap my fingers, gesturing for something to write with. Fury reaches into his coat pocket and procures a pen and a scrap of paper. I merely write...

You don't wanna know.

Natasha stares at the paper in curiosity before looking at me suspiciously.

"That's not really an answer. We know you hacked into SHIELD's databases which is extremely impressive as well, but I wanna know how you figured out my actual identity. How you figured out I was merely spying on you and your father."

I mean...I can't tell her that I saw her in a dream, she'd think I'm crazy.

I bite my bottom lip nervously and feel my hands shake as I think of an excuse to write down.

Something was really off about you. Your behavior was just so forced. Knew you weren't some ordinary woman...that there was something more to you than you let on.

At this, Natasha relaxes slightly, handing me back the piece of paper as she buys my excuse.

"I can tell you're hiding something, Miss Stark. Whatever it is...I'll figure it out eventually, but that's not the reason we've brought you here." Natasha nods at Nick.

"We might as well be forward with you...we need you to create a temporary solution for palladium poisoning."

I write down my question on the paper.

Palladium poisoning? Who's the cure for?

I gave Fury a skeptical look.

"We just need something to slow it down. There's no known cure for palladium poisoning today, but if you could manage to create one, that would be great as well." Nick commented.

I give him a small glare and underline the second part to my question.

Who's the cure for?

Fury glances at Natasha and shuffles on his feet nervously.

"It's for your father..." He reluctantly answered.

Dad? Wait a minute...that's what he wouldn't tell me!

I paced around the room, finally able to put the pieces together.

But how could he get poisoning in the first place? Unless...his...arc reactor...it's powered by palladium...god damn it...how could I have not known?

I felt like I wanted to cry, but I force the tears away. I'm more angry than anything, as the thought of the many times my father had the opportunity to tell me resurface. The blood test he had the first night of the expo, his old 'party-mode' and reckless behavior returning, his awkwardness around me...

It was what he was going to tell me before JARVIS interrupted...I feel so stupid...how could I have not figured it out sooner?

"Miss Stark..."

Natasha moved closer to me with a sympathetic look on her face, but I immediately pulled away from her. I nervously scribble on the paper and show it to Fury.

How long?

"How long what?" Fury seemed confused.

If you guys didn't ask for my help or tell me anything, how long would he have had?

"...at least a few days give or take...maybe even shorter than that." Fury looked away.

I turn away and hide my face in my hands as I resist the urge to cry again. It felt as if my heart dropped to my stomach, the thought of being an orphan becoming a reality at any given time. The things that my father would never get to accomplish, or the time we could spend together making the world a better place to live in, and even just...being together as father and daughter.

I pull myself together and write two final questions.

Where will I be working at? It can't be that hard right?

I looked at Fury and Natasha with determination in my eyes.

"Right this way." Fury smiled.

It had taken several long hours which felt like forever, but I finally concocted something that would slow down the palladium poisoning for my father. If he used it to his advantage, he could develop a way to find something else to power his arc reactor, so that he could live on. When it was time for me to go, Natasha got us on a jet and quickly flew us back to the mansion. It also took a few minutes for her to help me in through my window again, so I didn't enter through the front door and get spotted by anyone. As far as I knew, it was now 8 AM at least and I was exhausted. I got out of my clothes and into my pj's again before plopping down on the bed.

I just wanna sleep...

"Good morning, Miss Stark. It is currently 8:30 AM and your father would like to have a few words with you. He is currently waiting in the kitchen." JARVIS informed me.

My eyes snapped open and I inwardly groaned in annoyance.

"...your father says he would like it if you came down. He wants to make sure you eat something."

I probably will forget to eat...good call...

I got out of bed and made my way to the kitchen. Dad had cooked soup, but this time it was homemade chicken noodle. I guess dad made soup because I still restricted from the solid foods, not that I minded really.

He knows how to make soup?

I glanced over at the stove with the steaming pot and inhaled the aroma with pleasure.

"Well...Pepper taught me a thing or two..." Dad smiled smugly.

You called her didn't you?

I smirked as I gave dad a knowing look. Dad's smile disappeared and he blushed.

"...no, I didn't call her." Dad pouted childishly.

I smiled and resisted the urge to laugh knowing it would hurt my throat. I grab a piece of paper on the countertop and write something down with a pen nearby.

So your party is tonight right?

Dad reads my note and smiles sadly.

"Yup, sure is..." Dad replies.

What's wrong?

I place my hand on his from across the kitchen countertop, waiting patiently for him to say something. When he does say something, it's like every other time he's made an excuse. It's like he's trying to convince himself that everything is fine, rather than convincing me.

"Why would you think anything's wrong? It's my birthday right? Where's my birthday hugs and kisses? Or better yet the birthday promises of you never getting older?" Dad mutters.

Are you sure?

Dad turned around and put a bowl of the soup in front of me smiling faintly.

"I'm completely fine...let's just have fun today." Dad kissed my forehead.

Dad was never so affectionate before...it must come with dying.

I ate my soup and perked up, surprised that dad successfully made something good to eat.

He never really was a good cook...or much of a cook at all.

"How is it?" Dad chuckled at my reaction.

I gave him a thumbs up and continued eating, making sure to blow on each spoonful, so it wouldn't burn my throat. The both of us ate in silence for several minutes before dad put his bowl in the sink and blew me a kiss as he walked down to the workshop. I find myself alone in the kitchen, and think about messaging Pepper on my phone before I remember that my cellphone is upstairs on my bed. However, after everything that's happened, I find myself seeing if there's any news regarding the man that almost killed me and my father. The one who had successfully made his own arc reactor. I find the connection instantly after I see that the press released only his name. Ivan Vanko. My findings on the man show a connection between his father and Stark Industries. Ivan Vanko's father had actually worked with Howard Stark once upon a time. However, he was immediately imported back to Russia during the Cold War.

I mean, there's motive, maybe Vanko hates my father and blames him for his misfortunes? That's really all I can think of.

As the day progresses, I find myself out of the house for a change as I grab something that I had custom ordered for my father's birthday. By the time I return, I see the party at the mansion in full swing. The entire mansion is filled with people, and immediately I feel anxious from the loud music and swarms of unfamiliar faces. I become worried when loud crashes and even explosions are sounding from inside and make my way through the crowds to investigate what the hell was going on. Rhodey bumps into me along the way and I gave him a look of confusion in hopes that he'll answer. My godfather looks beyond pissed off, and I can already tell that my father is to blame for his mood.

"See for yourself. I'm gonna put an end to it." Rhodey grumbles.

I walked over to the living room area where the music was the loudest, people spotted me and were asking me for autographs and pictures. I politely decline everyone and continued to make my way through the crowd, getting extremely uncomfortable by each second.

Damn this is such a familiar picture. My dad's infamous parties...before his eye-opener in Afghanistan.

However, this party seems to be the biggest that he's ever thrown. After putting my gift safely secure in my bedroom, I relock it and make my way back downstairs. Finally, I hear my name being called through a speaker, and realize that my dad is searching for me throughout the ginormous crowd. I put on a slightly happier face when I finally get to my father, only to find myself staring at him wide-eyed in shock. Suddenly, it makes so much sense as to why Rhodey was so angry before. There beyond the DJ equipment, stereo speakers, and party goers, is my father in the Iron Man suit parading around like some kind of rock star.

Oh my fucking god...what is he doing?!

When my dad spots me, he has the biggest grin on his face and puts down the microphone before making his way over to hug me.

"Have some fun, baby doll! It's my party!" Dad slurs.

I'm completely in shock as he picks me up in his arms and flies around like he's superman. However, I feel the least safe in his arms at the moment considering he's piss drunk. I'm afraid to try and speak to my dad, although it'd only be a waste of time considering how loud the music was and how I hadn't vocally spoken for a week. Dad doesn't seem to realize or care how uncomfortable I am when he grabs for the microphone again.

"HELLO PARTYGOERS!" Dad shouts.

Everyone cheers, squeals, and applauds before falling silent again.

"I just wanna take a moment t- -to say a few words!"

Dad continues to hold his arm around my shoulders and leans into me.

"This is my baby girl, Tyra Elizabeth Stark! Say hello, baby!"

I merely wave at the crowd nervously.

"Now I know, Tyra is such a- -a unique name, her mother chose it, but that's another story." He slurs.

The crowd awes and claps in response. I feel my face flush in embarrassment as all eyes are on us.

Please make it stop.

"I know today is my birthday, but- -I don't wan' today to be about just me- -I want it to be about us! Without Tyra, I wouldn't be where I am today! I wouldn't be fuckin' Iron Man!" People cheer and shout. "Or making Stark Industries turn a new leaf!" More cheering. "O- -or have the inspiration t' keep goin'! But I do it all for you, baby girl!"

Dad hugs me closer before placing a sloppy kiss on my cheek, and finally I wrench away the microphone from his hands as I attempt to speak. My voice is not surprisingly hoarse and husky for not speaking for a week, but I try my best.

"I'm sorry about my dad, you know how he can be when he's a little tipsy, am I right?" I smiled awkwardly.

People chuckle and laugh in response. Dad plants his head on my shoulder and speaks again.

"I can't help it, you're my sweet little angel." Dad slurs.

Everyone awes again as he hugs me from behind.

"Ow." I flinch. "Ha, maybe you should take off that suit and hug me properly, old man?" I laugh softly.

Dad doesn't move from his spot, until I wrench away from his grasp and grow more serious. I lower the microphone, placing my hand on top of it as I give him a stern look.

"Dad seriously, my throat hurts like hell so please don't make me repeat myself. Take off the suit." I tell him.

"It's my birthday, I can do what I want." Dad smirks childishly.

"Fine then, you leave me no choice." I glare at him.

I turn back to the crowd, raising the microphone up.

"I'm sorry, I honestly don't think my dad is feeling well everyone. I think I'll be ending the party a little early tonight."

Boos sounds off from the crowd along with disappointed shouts.

"Yeah, yeah, I know." I roll my eyes. "I appreciate everyone coming to celebrate my dad's birthday, but I care about his well being more than anyone here, so if you would all kindly leave before I decide to call the authorities, I'd seriously appreciate it. I'm sure my dad left some gift-bags so be sure to grab them on the way out. Thank you for coming and- -"

The microphone is being yanked from my hands swiftly by my father, who looks like a upset child.

"Ignore her! The party is still going!"

Everyone cheers and returns into the room, music resuming as I'm being none-too-gently ushered to the side. I protest weakly and try to make my way back to my father before a cold metal hand is on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, Tyra, I'll handle this. Just get outta here before it gets ugly." Rhodey grumbles.

"Rhodey wait- -"

"Get out of the suit, Tony." Rhodey ordered.

Dad made no movement at first before shrugging and walking over to the mini bar. Rhodey then hit him through a wall. I gasped and told everyone to get out, knowing very well that this was gonna turn ugly. I was about to step in until Natasha held me back and started leading me away from everyone.

The events from the party ran through my mind, and the look of Rhodey's face was difficult to forget. Natasha had given some excuse to Pepper as she escorted me out of the mansion in a hurry. From there, the night was spent driving to a hotel with Natasha and staying there until Director Fury was to arrive in the morning. It had only been a few short hours before Fury arrived.

"Come on, we're picking up your father." Fury told me.

I coughed when I tried to speak this time, my throat aching painfully. Natasha gives me some more pain medication that she'd brought with her for this very issue. As I swallow the pills down with a glass of water, I give Natasha a thankful nod, before turning to Director Fury.

"Your father's behavior last night while unacceptable, has come to make me believe that the palladium poisoning is moving further along than I anticipated. We're gonna need to use your solution and talk some sense into him, which is also where you come in. Welcome to SHIELD, Agent Stark." Nick Fury holds out something in his palm.

I pick up an ID badge with my picture on it and tuck it safely into my pocket before moving to shake Fury's hand out of respect. When we all get to my father's location, I find myself confused that it's at a Doughnut Shop.

"Sir! I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the doughnut!" Fury yelled.

Dad looked down and was surprised to see me with Fury. Dad flew down and we all went inside the restaurant, where Natasha had the whole place cleared just for us. Dad came over to me and tried hugging me, but before he gets the chance I stop him with a pointed glare.

"I take it you know then?" Dad averted his eyes.

"No shit, Sherlock." I grumbled.

We all sat down together in a booth. My father and I on one side, and with Fury on the other.

"I told you I don't want to join your secret boy band..." Dad groaned.

"No no no, see? I remember, you do everything yourself. How's that working out for ya?" Nick smirked.

"It-It-It-It's... I'm sorry, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot. Do I look at the patch or the eye? Honestly, I'm a bit hungover. I'm not sure if you're real or... or if I'm having deliriu..."

"I am very real. I'm the realest person you're ever gonna meet." Nick cut him off.

"Just my luck. Where's the staff here?" Dad looked around.

Fury grabbed dad by the collar and looked at his neck. I was surprised at how well dad hid that from all of us.

"That's not looking too good." Fury mumbled.

"Been worse." Dad shrugged.

Natasha came back in and walked over to the table.

"We've secured the perimeter. But I don't think we should hold it for too much longer." She informed Fury.

Dad was practically speechless finally figuring out that Natasha wasn't actually working for Pepper, but for Fury instead.

"Huh... you're... fired." Dad stammered.

"That's not up to you." Natasha smirked. "Though I'm surprised at how slow you are...your daughter managed to see right through me and figure out who I was first...I thought it would be the other way around."

"Is that an insult?" I looked at Natasha in confusion.

"You've been very busy. You made your girl your CEO, you're giving away all your stuff. You let your friend fly away with your suit. Now, if I know better..." Nick started.

"You don't know better. I didn't give it to him. He took it." Dad interrupted.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. He took it? You're Iron Man and he just took it? The little brother walked in there, kicked your ass and took your suit? Is that possible?" Nick then looked to Natasha.

"Well, according to Mr. Stark's database security guidelines, there are redundancies to prevent unauthorized usage." Natasha stated.

"What do you want from me?" Dad sighed.

"What do we want from you? Uh-uh. What do you want from me? You have become a problem, a problem that your daughter and I have to deal with. Contrary to your belief, you are not the center of my universe. I have bigger problems in the southwest region to deal with. Hit him!" Nick said.

Natasha whips out a needle and injects dad in the neck with what I guessed was the serum I made to slow down the palladium poisoning.

"Oh, God, are you gonna steal my kidney and sell it? Could you please not do anything awful for five seconds? What did she just do to me?" Dad groaned.

"What did we just do for you? That's lithium dioxide." I answered.

"It's gonna take the edge off. We're trying to get you back to work." Fury finished.

"Give me a couple boxes of that. I'll be right as rain." Dad smiled faintly.

"It's not a cure, it just abates the symptoms." Natasha informed him.

"Doesn't look like it's gonna be an easy fix." Nick mumbled.

I'm sorry if you didn't like this chapter. I had trouble writing it and I don't really love how it turned out either.
