"A little more to the left;" beckons Kerry. Tony attempts to oblige her request. But, he's not sure if he agrees with her instructions as he asks, "Are you sure? It looks sort of off." She tilts her head and lovingly responds, "Trust me. It needs to be dead center, so just inch it a little more to the left please. Otherwise it won't look right, and it has to be perfect. He resists the desire to tell her nothing is perfect. And, he follows her lead, thinking the sooner he does as she asks. The sooner they'll get done.
Upon finally getting the wreath in the correct location on the door; Tony nails it in place with Kerry's help. And although the annoying 30 minute task isn't something he wants to repeat. The joy in her eyes when they stand together looking at it from the walk way, is worth it. That smile, he thinks to himself. It makes it all worth it. He smiles as he hears her say, "It's beautiful babe. Isa is going to love it!"
Despite the fact he's well aware their daughter will likely not notice the wreath, He lets her have her moment as he replies, "Agreed. It looks really good babe. Good job!" She nods in agreement; the custom wreath looks amazing on their door. She adores the personalization of the decoration. It's a large Christmas wreath with pine cones and candy canes around it, and in the center it says, "The Goldwyn's." With lights intertwined within it, as well encompassing it. And it bears all of their names below it, including Tess and Anna,
He has to admit, seeing all of their names on the wreath is inspiring, and fills him with added joy too. She looks up at him and sees the grin on his face. She's curious of what he's thinking as she asks, "So you really like it huh?" He looks down into her eyes as he replies, "Yeah. I do. It's awesome Ker. And its sweet of you to include the girls names." She sees the appreciation in his expression; and adores his genuiness.
Lovingly, she strokes his face as she responds, "I'm glad you like it babe. Of course I'd include the girls. They may not live here; but they're Isa's big sisters. So they're family too." He pulls her close and kisses her sweetly, as he says, "I love you." She smiles as she replies, "I love you too." They peck once more and he excitedly asks, "What else do you want to hang today?"
She grins at his enthusiasm as she says, "Okay, I see somebody is getting into the Christmas spirit." He smiles at her taking her ribbing with ease, as he replies, "Yes,. You've converted me. Christmas in November it is." She hits him playfully and they both laugh together. The moment is sweet and fun, as they take it all in. Enjoying the each other.
As he looks at his wife he remembers his dad's advice. He told him to take in all of the special times with those he loves. Because those are what he will cling to when he's up in age. And will give him the most joy, not money or things he's bought. But the memories he shares of the happiest times with loved ones.
When he was talking to his father, he realized his father was referencing his own bout of seeing his mortality. But, he never thought that just a few days later. He'd have such a surreal instance of his own to reflect on. He takes a breath as their laughing settles, checking back into the present. He looks at his wife as he takes her hand and says, "Come on, let's get the rest of the yard decorations done before Janet gets ready to leave." Originally they were only going to hang the wreath, but his enthusiasm to do more sweeps her off her feet. And she agrees with him as she says, "Sure thing. I'll grab Mr. and Mrs. clause and you grab the sled." He grins as she replies, "Deal."
They share a quick and delightful kiss and scurry off to get started. An hour and half later. They step back to look at their finished work. And, they're amazed at how precious it appears. The amount of work they've accomplished is one thing; but the way it all works together is quite breath taking.
Standing out on the walkway leading to the door; he has his arm around her as he says, "Wow. We did well, huh?" She looks up at him as she replies, "Babe, we did an amazing job. It looks better than I couldve ever hoped. The only thing that will make it any better is when it gets dark, and we can turn on the lights." He nods in agreement as he says, "Yes. That will be quite a sight. " They take in the finished product a little longer.
The scene features Santa, his wife, and the elves arriving on a reindeer led slay that's supposed to be filled with gifts. But, the gifts are scattered about, due to a rough landing, and the elves are trying to retrieve them as the reindeer and Mr. and Mrs. Clause look on. It's quite the dramatic and funny display, that is sure to bring joy to those who see it.
After taking some photos of their semi finished project. They head inside to relieve Janet for the night. After getting a report on their daughter, she prepares to go home. As they walk her out Tony says, "Well, if we don't see you again before the holiday. Have a happy Thanksgiving."
She nods as she says, "Same to both of you. I hope you enjoy your trip to NY." Kerry smiles as she replies, "Thanks, we will. There's nothing like the holidays in NYC. It's magical." Janet nods as she responds, "Agreed. It's great. With all the elaborate decorating you two have done so far; it looks like you're bringing some of Time Square to the West Coast."
They all share a laugh in agreement. And Janet says, "Well, I am going to get on the road. You two take care. And enjoy the holiday break." They smile in return as they wave and say, "Same to you."
As she drives off they both look out the picture window, and watch as she heads out of the gate. Again, they take in the view of their yard, But this time, from the inside of the house. And again, they both feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. This is the life they've always dreamed of together. And they're extremely excited and proud to be living it.
As he holds her from behind, she rests in his arms against his chest. And he feels her exhale. The release is calming and he embraces her as she falls into him. It's a still moment for both of them as they sit still and relish in all that they have achieved together. This is their home and their first Christmas decorating with their first child together.
She breaks the silence as she says, "I'm so happy." He smiles and she feels his lips spread across the top of her head, as he kisses the top of her head saying, "Me too baby. It took us a long time to get here. But we're here." She agrees as she replies, "Yes. We are. And it was definitely worth the wait."
He turns her around to face him as he says, "Indeed. You've always been worth it Ker. Every difficult, painful experience of my life I've endured. Has been worth it all for the way our lives are right now." She appreciates him and how positive and persistent he has been over the years about them being together. She didn't think they'd ever get here, but yet here they are.
They share a sweet kiss to seal the moment that ends up being much more than they both counted on. The sweetness of the kiss becomes a sultry exchange of tongues and moans, that lead to him swooping her off of her feet, and carrying her into their bedroom.
