It was a normal day in the Black household Mr. Black was out getting drunk. Mrs. Black was with some "friends" getting high on cocaine. They had left their eldest to take care of everything from the cleaning and cooking to taking care of the baby. It was around noon when the letter arrived Virgil was too busy working his ass off cleaning up the flat to get it immediately. Just as he was going to grab it the baby started to cry Virgil walked over to her and picked her up to soothe her. After feeding her and finally getting her to sleep Virgil went back to working forgetting about the letter. At ten o' clock heard the telltale sign of his "parents" arriving he quickly hid Bianca in the tiny closet that served as their bedroom. Mr. Black stumbled into the living room and walked up to Virgil.
"So, freak did you do everything you were told to do" Mr. Black slurred.
"Yes sir" Virgil replied flinching back when Mr. Black started to walk closer. Mr. Black got right up into Virgils face making him scrunch up his nose at the beer smell. Before he could say anything, Mrs. Black slammed the door open and wobbled into the living room and fell onto the couch. She yelped and pulled out a tiny baby toy the only one Virgil had. Mrs. Black got up and walked over to Virgil and slapped him hard making him fall to the ground holding his cheek.
"You little freak I told you to make sure that that little freak was out of sight out of mind! Instead I get hurt on its toys" She shouted then Mrs. Black turned to Mr. Black and said "Punish him I am going to bed". She wandered out of the room and slammed the door that led to the master bedroom. For the next hour Mr. Black punched, kicked and insulted Virgil. Eventually he was too tired to continue and walked drunkenly to the master bedroom. Virgil after he heard the door slammed tried to stand but he just collapsed back onto the floor. After a few more tries Virgil was able to stand up he cleaned up the blood like he was told to he also dressed his wounds the best he could. He limped to the closet and gave Bianca her toy then he shuffled into the closet putting her on top of him.
He was able to get an hour of sleep before something woke him up. He creeped out of the closet making sure Bianca was okay and asleep still. Virgil walked to the front door where he heard the sound and he saw the envelope from that afternoon and it appeared to be glowing. He picked it up and looked it over, seeing that it was addressed to him he ripped open the envelope and read the letter that was also glowing inside. Once he was finished he snorted softly at the crazy idea that he was a wizard. But he still took the letter and put it in a safe spot in the closet before once again falling asleep.
