It was a normal day in the Devon household. Mr. Devon was brewing a potion down in the potion's lab. Mrs. Devon was on a shopping trip with a few of her friends. Their eldest Hecate was in her room practicing her charms for next year. While their youngest Janus was in the library trying to concentrate on their book and failing completely. Janus kept looking towards the floo where the owl would enter to tell him that he was going to Hogwarts. Janus was so excited but nervous his parents didn't seem to care but he did. After trying and failing to read his book once more he gave up and just started to wander around the manor. Around noon he heard the floo he rushed downstairs but it was only his mother coming back from her trip. Without so much as a glance Mrs. Devon walked past Janus coming out behind her was a poor house elf carrying dozens of bags.

Janus sighed and said to the elf "Mother wants those in her closet room correct". The elf nodded "Well let me help you" Janus said and ignored the elf's protests and started to walk up to the closet room. When he walked in his mother didn't even look at them she just waved he hand towards her closet and went back to her floo call. While helping the house elf put away the clothes he once again heard the floo. He ran downstairs once more and was disappointed to see it was just his father leaving for another business meeting and as usual he didn't bother to say good bye.

Janus sighed and started to walk back up the stairs to help put the clothes away when once again the floo activated he quickly turned around. There was the owl he almost wanted to jump for joy but his parents told him that it was unbecoming. He took the letter away from the owl while offering it a treat the owl took it and cooed before leaving through the floo. Janus quickly ripped open the letter and read it when he read that he was officially going to Hogwarts he couldn't help himself and started to jump up and down laughing. His mother then walked in finding him doing that and gave him a long lecture about proper pure-blood etiquette.

Janus had to stop himself from squealing out in joy and ripped the letter open not even bothering with a letter opener. Once he saw that he was officially going to Hogwarts he threw out pure-blood etiquette and started to jump up and down while squealing. His mother chose that moment to walk in and saw him that resulted in a two-hour lecture on pure-blood manners. But Janus didn't care he was going to Hogwarts and there he would prove to his parents that he was worthy of their attention and love.
