Raw: February 13, 2012
I look at Randy. "So am I going with you tonight or no?"
Randy sighed. "Personally, I think it'd be best if you didn't accompany me to my match tonight. You already have your contract signing to worry about, and it'd be kind of a bad idea anyway since my opponent is Big Show. Hell, you got between us last week, and that could've ended horribly. It was pretty reckless of you. You don't need to be getting hurt."
"How many times have you brought that up in the past six days?"
"A lot because it worried me. You're lucky that Big Show is pretty good friends with you."
"I know. Did you hear that Eve has to kiss John for the storyline tonight?"
"That makes me feel awkward, but don't be changing the subject on me. Rissa, you can't always jump in between like that."
"I know. You keep saying that."
"Because I'm hoping that it'll stick one of these times."
"Fine. I can stay back here during your match. No jumping in or anything."
"That's all I want. Just worry about your contract signing tonight."
"I probably should worry about that. Laurinaitis is moderating."
"Why?"
"I'm almost certain that's his way of rubbing it in my face that he's still the general manager."
"Do I need to join you for the contract signing then?"
"No, I'll handle it."
"Are you sure? The last time you were around him without me, things didn't go well."
"Just watch from guerilla. I'm a big girl, Randy. I can handle myself in a contract signing."
"I know that, sweetheart. I just don't want him to insult you again."
"If he does, you'll be the first to know, and we'll find a way to handle it. Okay?"
Randy nodded. "Okay."
I watched in guerilla as Randy continued to wrestle Big Show.
Shawn Michaels walked up as I was watching. "Hey, kid."
I grin. "Hey, Shawn! How are you?"
"I'm doing good. What about you?"
"Well, I am watching Randy wrestle right now. I have a contract signing later."
"Oh yeah. You have a Divas Championship match on Sunday against Beth Phoenix."
"I do."
"I would wish you good luck, but since I was one of the people who helped train you, I don't think you need it."
I laugh. "Thanks, Shawn."
Shawn gave me a quick hug. "Randy is doing pretty well for himself here."
"Yeah, he is." I watch as he RKOs Big Show only for Daniel Bryan to get involved and hit Randy in the head with the World Heavyweight Championship. "Seriously?"
"That's not cool."
"Yeah, he just had to cause a disqualification."
Randy walked backstage, looking a little out of it. Shawn and I exchanged a look before I rushed over to Randy. Randy didn't say anything and just pulled me into a hug.
Big Show arrived backstage and looked at me. "I think Daniel may have concussed him."
I notice Randy is holding his head. "You need to go see the trainer."
Randy looked at me. "I'm fine."
"You don't look fine to me."
"Just worry about your contract signing."
"I know that's soon, but I'm worried about you. Randy, go see the trainer."
Randy sighed. "Fine."
Randy walked away to go see the trainer.
Big Show looked at me. "I'll keep an eye on him until you're done with your contract signing."
I nod. "Thanks, Show."
Beth and John Laurinaitis were both already sitting at the table in the middle of the ring. David Otunga was also standing in the ring. I waited for my theme song to start playing.
I know I want that girl so bad
I lie awake at night
And think of all the things that I would do
With a girl like that…
I walked down to the ring. Beth glared at me as I entered the ring and sat down across from her.
John Laurinaitis looks at both me and Beth before grabbing a microphone. "Ladies, in six days at Elimination Chamber, you two will be stepping into the ring once again to face each other with the Divas Championship on the line. That's Sunday though. As for tonight…"
"John, Beth and I both know how this goes. We don't need you to explain the whole thing. Just let us sign the contract." I say as I look at John Laurinaitis.
Laurinaitis passes me the contract. I immediately open and sign it before sliding it over to Beth.
Beth holds up a microphone. "Marissa, I just want to let you know before I sign this contract that I'm not going to drop my Divas Championship to some bimbo that slept her way to the top of this company."
I roll my eyes. "Slept my way to the top? Beth, I've only been in three relationships with people in this company. One of them didn't even last long enough for me to sleep with the guy. I didn't sleep my way to the top. I busted my ass to get to the top of this company."
"Really? Because it seems to me that you are handed everything on a silver platter, Marissa. You won't be taking this Divas Championship from me though. You'd have to pry it from my hands, and you won't ever get to that point."
"If that's what it takes, then that's what I'll do. Beth, you spend more time trying to insult me than trying to think of ways to beat me. If I were you, I'd be the other way around."
"I don't need to think of ways to beat you when I already know how to beat you." Beth signs the contract. "This Sunday at Elimination Chamber, I'm going to beat you so bad that you'll go back to taking a break and being a good little housewife for Randy Orton. How is he by the way? I heard that Daniel Bryan gave him a concussion. Isn't that sad?"
I slap Beth across the face. Laurinaitis and Otunga leave the ring. Beth glares at me and stands up before placing the Divas Championship down. I glare at her before attacking her. We start brawling.
We roll around the ring, punching, kicking, and pulling hair. Referees come down to separate us. Beth glares at me as referees hold us both back. We both manage to escape the referees, and I lay Beth out with a Superkick.
"See you Sunday, Beth." I look at the referees. "I'll take myself out."
I exit the ring, smiling as I gesture to my waist. The Divas Championship is coming home on Sunday.
John Laurinaitis stops me as I arrive backstage. "That was rude."
I give him a confused look. "Almost every contract signing ends in a fight."
"That's not what I'm talking about."
"Then what are you talking about?"
"The way you cut me off out there."
"I was just making things go by quicker so we could get back to having matches. The fans would have started to get bored. Sorry if that pissed you off. Can I go now?"
"You know, you act so high and mighty because you're technically both a wrestler and a backstage position around here, but you shouldn't. Marissa, you are never going to be the best in either of your positions around here. Hell, the only reason you have the backstage position is because Vince feels bad because he wasn't around during your childhood. However, you know, just like I know, that you're never truly going to be a McMahon. Hell, do you truly even have a family where you truly fit in? I know your story, unlike most people around here. You aren't related to anyone who was related to the father who raised you. You don't really have much good relationships with people on your mother's side. You don't have a family that you truly belong to. You can try to be a McMahon all you want, but even being a part of this company won't make you one. You don't have a place around here, and you don't have a place in a family."
"I'm not going to insult you back, Laurinaitis. You're not worth it." I walk away towards the locker-room to check up on Randy.
I look at Randy. "Did the trainer say what I thought he was going to say?"
Randy sighed. "Yes, I have a concussion."
"You do know what that means, right?"
"I'm out of the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match."
"Yeah, you are."
Randy starts packing. "I'm not happy about this. What did Laurinaitis say to you?"
I give him a confused look. "How did you know that Laurinaitis said something?"
"It can sense that you're upset. It didn't seem like it was about Beth, and it was before I mentioned having a concussion. I know you had to be around him. It's not hard to put it all together."
"Oh. Well, I'd rather not talk about it right now."
"That's alright. Just come talk to me when you decide you're okay with talking about anything that's upset you."
"You're going to be out for a few weeks."
"I know. I'm not happy about it, but just let me still do the husband part of my life while I'm concussed."
"Do you want to go home?"
"We're going home?"
"You're concussed, and as far as I know, I don't have anything tomorrow. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I think the right call is to just go home. I can call Teddy Long and get him to okay that."
Randy nodded. "Let's go home then, Rissa."
