When they all dispersed from Hogwarts for the summer none of them could even guess what was going to happen the next time they stepped into Hogwarts hallowed halls…

Janus's summers was strange in some ways and normal in others but such was the way for a half-snake wizard. The summer started out normal but he noticed about half-way through that no matter what he did his scales were always itchy and he had tried everything from going full snake and shedding to stay in his full human form for longer. Eventually he gave up on that tactic and tried to find answers in the family library but his parents decided to take notice of him at that moment and said that all of the old family books aren't to be touched. Janus just thought that they had it out for him but left the books alone because he didn't want to deal with his parents wrath. So, for the rest of the summer Janus while not in pain he wasn't comfortable and it seemed like Remus was having the same problem.

Remus's problem actually started earlier in the summer than Janus but didn't say anything because he thought it felt cool for a while. It was usually his tentacles that were super sensitive and itchy and for a while that was almost pleasurable but after a while it made him oversensitive. He also tried to use the Devon books to find answers but after finding out he just tried to sneak in but found out that only those with Devon blood can even touch the books. So, he had to give that up but that didn't mean he didn't stop trying other things like Janus did he even owled Virgil to ask if there was any information in the school library but Virgil said there wasn't.

Little did they know that Virgil was having a different problem instead of itching Virgil kept having random emotional bursts and wherever he walked he dropped feathers despite the fact that he didn't have anything feathered on him. Virgil tried to hide his problem from Snape but Snape wasn't the best spy for nothing and quickly started research to try and help Virgil. But nothing they found even gave hints as to what was going on but they kept looking until it was time for the students to return to Hogwarts.

"What am I going to do I can't like Janus and Remus or any of the Slytherins see me like this" Virgil said for the umpteenth time while he paced across the common room floor.

"Virgil for the final time this is the best option they can help you find out what is going on while also making sure the other houses don't find out about it" Snape said resisting the urge to sneer he loved Virgil like a son but he had his limits and having to repeat the same thing for an hour was one of them. Before Virgil could make another cycle around the room the portrait door opened and all of the Slytherins started to filter in.

Snape stood up and walked in front of the group of children "Welcome to Slytherin many other students will call us evil or dark but we aren't evil but most of us are dark" Snape started his usual speech when he realized that all of the children were looking at Virgil. Snape turned to see what they were distracted and had to stop himself from cursing. Janus and Remus in full creature regalia were clinging to Virgil who had sprouted wings.

"D-dad what's going on" Virgil said in a panic trying to escape but quickly giving up when Janus and Remus started to growl/hiss.

Snape felt warmth in his chest at being called dad but quickly pushed to feeling aside to focus on the situation at hand. Snape grabbed some potions he keeps on hand leftovers from his days as a spy and throws them onto the three boys. All three boys passed out and fell to the floor cushion by a charm put on the whole common room. After making sure they were safe Snape turned back to the shell-shocked Slytherins. "Another us Slytherin are known for is unity anything that happens in the dorms stays there is that understood."

All the second through seventh years quickly nodded already used to that rule but it took the first-years a few minutes before they snapped out of it enough to nodded and start to walk to their dorms. Once the other Slytherins had filtered out of the common room some Snape had to order out, he turned to the three sleeping boys. "This complicates things" Snape muttered aloud before levitating the three boys into his personal corridors placing the three onto his bed. He tried unsuccessfully to separate the boys after the third failed attempt Snape gave up and stood up walking to his fire place.

He threw some floo powder and stuck only his head in "Malfoy get your ass up I know you are awake at this time" Snape called and felt a smug satisfaction when he heard a groan then the clicking of Malfoys high-heeled boots.
