A/N I just wanted you to know that I am approaching the end of the story. I have a climaxish thing, a few loose strings, and a happy ending then I'm done. If you want to leave me suggestions please do, I'm in plenty of other fandoms too.

Disclaimer: I don't own Wings of fire.

She didn't stop the Nightkiller. She got her things, her children then left the Kingdome. She didn't know where she would go yet, but she would figure something out.

The girls asked many questions. Where they were going, why their brother and father stayed, why they were leaving, but she answered no questions. they did not need to know. Soon enough the half blood princess would be dead leavening Shard and North to fend for themselves.

Perhaps then Shard would try and contact her. Maybe he would ask her to return. "For the of the Kingdome, and the dragon in it," he would say. she wouldn't write him back, instead show up whenever she made it and take her place on the throne. she will shower him in love and affection, and nothing less. He will understand there is no other way.

Oh yes he will

His father showed up an hour later and explained everything to him. He was shocked, but in the end it was for the best, he knew that. They went and explained it to Aroura and Romantic afterwards then he left to tell Penguin.

His father encouraged him to invite her to brunch so he could get to know his possible future daughter in law. He did so and the new, smaller family enjoyed a delicious brunch.

Then he and Penguin toured the town before returning and toured the palace. they stayed in his room for a while, and did whatever pleased them.

They then went and visited his father, then Aroura and Romantic doing, again, whatever they pleased.

It was strange to say the least. He never thought that with his mother gone he'd have so much to do, so much freedom. A small part of him wanted to go back to normal, with the limits, and drama, and needing to do permission to do most thing.

But in the end he was happy. Happy to be free, happy to have no limits, and happy t do whatever pleased him. He never realized until then the effect his mother had on him, and he was happy that the weight of it all was gone.

It was so very cold, and she wasn't sure she could make it. She forced every muscle to the gate hoping the cold would stop.

When he made it there the guards asked her to state her business. She did, and after some conversation she was given a ring and allowed in. She slipped the gold ban on, and was instantly relived off all the cold. It wasn't the warmth she was used to, bur so much better than the cold she had felt moments before.

She looked up at the icy palace and smiled.

That was her destination.
