WrestleMania XXVIII: April 1, 2012
"I can't believe I have to spend my birthday working this year." Randy mutters as we arrive backstage for WrestleMania 28.
I roll my eyes. "It's WrestleMania tonight. Get over it, Randy."
"But it's my thirty-second birthday. I only get to turn thirty-two once."
"You're being ridiculous."
"No, I'm not. Are we still skipping the WrestleMania after party tonight?"
"Yeah, I have a dinner plan for us."
"What about dessert?"
"That too, stop worrying." I sigh before receiving a text.
Tyler: Kenny and I just made it to the arena.
Me: Good.
"Who's texting you?" Randy asks.
"Tyler, he told me that he and Kenny just made it to the arena." I reply as Randy and I spot our locker-room.
"That's good. We're awfully spoiling them by letting them be ringside for both WrestleMania and Royal Rumble this year. They're gonna expect us to get them ringside for SummerSlam next."
I laugh. "Probably. I remember watching WrestleMania from the crowd."
"Yeah, because I invited you to come to WrestleMania. I even managed to get you almost ringside tickets. It was for WrestleMania 20."
I open the door. "Yeah, oddly enough, I was signed to my contract before WrestleMania 21 happened."
"And you've been to every single one ever since, except WrestleMania 23 I believe."
"Actually, I was there. I just did a great job of avoiding you then."
"Oh. That one broke my heart a little."
I roll my eyes as we enter the locker-room. "Whatever, Randy. We need to get our ring gear on."
Randy smiles as we both start getting into ring gear. "Ya know, I'm actually enjoying today quite a bit. I'm spending it with the woman I love."
"I appreciate hearing that."
I go quiet after that, trying to focus on getting dressed for my match tonight. However, my mind was on trying for a baby. I didn't even know if it would be brought up tonight, but we had agreed to discuss it once WrestleMania was over. That conversation was probably coming up some time this week. My phone starts ringing. I answer the call.
Me: "Hello?"
Chelle: "Hey, I wanted to wish you good luck tonight since I'm not there because I'm, you know, pregnant."
Me: "I understand. Thanks for wishing me luck. How are you doing, Chelle?"
Chelle: "I'm doing alright. Is the birthday boy with you?"
Me: "Yes, Randy is with me right now."
Chelle: "Put me on speaker, so I can harass him."
I set my phone down and put it on speaker.
Me: "Okay. You're on speaker now. He'll hear you."
Chelle: "Good. Happy birthday, asshole."
Randy: "Thanks. What do you want?"
Chelle: "Wow. Rude much? Rissa, is he always this rude?"
Me: "Always, especially towards Ted."
Chelle: "Well, chill, Randy. Good luck to both of you though. Enjoy your birthday, Randy. I should probably call John. Bye."
Randy and me: "Bye."
The call ends.
Randy looks at me. "She loves trying to irritate me."
I smile. "Yeah, it's pretty funny."
"No, it's not."
"You let her get on your nerves. I find it hilarious."
"It's mean, not hilarious. I bet tonight's dessert is gonna be quite suited to my tastes." Randy smirks.
I roll my eyes. "Not if you keep bringing it up. Let's go see the others before you have to be in guerilla. You and Kane are second on the show."
Randy rolls his eyes. "I know. What spot do you have on the card, Rissa?"
I smile. "My match is fourth."
"Okay. Not too much after mine. I can just wait on you to wrestle then too."
"That you can. Let's go see our friends now."
"Right behind you."
I winced as I watched Kane give Randy a Chokeslam from the second rope and pin him.
1…2…3!
"Here is your winner, Kane!"
Cody looks at me. "That was rough."
I sigh. "No kidding. I hope Randy is alright."
We both went quiet as Randy arrived backstage.
I rush over to Randy. "Hey, are you alright?"
Randy pulls me close. "I will be. This isn't over between me and Kane."
"I didn't think it was."
Randy tightens his grip as Kane walks through guerilla before heading towards the backstage area. Cody and Big Show make their entrances for their Intercontinental Championship match.
"Are you sure that you'll be alright?" I whisper.
Randy smiled. "Yeah, it's still my birthday. Plus, you still have a match that you're gonna win. I'll be just fine."
"You better be. Help me stretch for a few?"
"Of course."
I start stretching. "This honestly doesn't feel like a WrestleMania match to me, but I'm just glad to have something."
"Yeah, it's hard for Divas to get anything at WrestleMania."
"That's true, but I plan on making that change one day."
"I hope you can make it happen."
"Me too. It's about time for a change for the better for the girls around here."
I watched as Big Show hit Cody with a Knockout Punch and pinned him.
1…2…3!
"Here is your winner and the NEW Intercontinental Champion, Big Show!"
"Damn." Randy whispers.
"This sucks for Cody." I comment. "But Big Show certainly deserves it."
"Definitely."
I nod at Ryse and Ted as they enter guerilla. Kelly, my Tag Team partner for tonight, approaches me before either Cody or Big Show arrive backstage.
Kelly looks at me. "You ready?"
I smile. "Sure am. Are you?"
"Absolutely."
Big Show and Cody both arrive backstage.
Randy kisses my forehead. "Good luck."
I nod. "Thanks, babe."
("Glamazon" plays)
"The following is a Divas Tag Team match scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Buffalo, New York, the WWE Divas Champion, The Glamazon, Beth Phoenix!"
She looks good to me

"And her partner, from Denver, Colorado, Eve Torres!"

"And their opponents, first, from Jacksonville, Florida, Kelly Kelly!"

I lie awake at night

"And her partner, from Saint Louis, Missouri, the Queen of Chaos, Marissa Orton!"
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Kelly and Eve both start the match off. Both women circle around the ring. They lock up. Eve shoves Kelly into a corner. Eve shoves her foot into Kelly. The referee counts before forcing Eve out of the corner. Kelly gets up and runs at Eve, but Eve hits Kelly with an Arm Drag. Eve pins Kelly.
1…kickout!
Both women get up. Kelly slaps Eve across the face before kicking her in the gut. Kelly goes for the K2, but Eve avoids it. Eve nails Kelly with a Dropkick before going for a Standing Moonsault, but Kelly gets her knees up. Eve doubles over in pain. Kelly rolls Eve into a pin.
1…2…kickout!
Eve nails Kelly with another Dropkick before successfully hitting Kelly with a Standing Moonsault. Eve pins Kelly.
1…2…kickout!
Eve grabs Kelly and Suplexes her onto the ground before pinning her again.
1…kickout!
Eve grabs Kelly and sends her into the corner for the opposing team. Eve tags in Beth.
Beth gets in the ring, and she and Eve double team Kelly. Beth pins Kelly.
1…2…
I break the pin. I nail Beth with a Dropkick. Eve comes after me, so I toss her out of the ring. I exit the ring before going back to my side of the apron.
Beth Clotheslines Kelly. Kelly gets up, and Beth goes to Clothesline her again. However, Kelly avoids it and hits Beth with a Dropkick. Kelly pins Beth.
1…kickout!
Beth grabs Kelly and kicks her in the gut. Beth hooks both of Kelly's arms and hits her with a Glam Slam. Beth pins Kelly.
1…2…
I run in and break the pin once more. Eve comes after me, but I Superkick her out of the ring. Beth goes to Clothesline me, but I avoid it and nail her with a Dropkick. I help Kelly stand up before heading back to the apron. Beth runs at Kelly, but Kelly moves out of the way and shoves Beth into our corner. Kelly tags me in, and we both hit an Arm Drag on Beth. I pin Beth.

Beth gets her foot on the ropes, causing a rope break making me have to stop the pin. I stomp on Beth before pulling her to the middle of the ring and climbing up onto the top turnbuckle. I prepare for a Moonsault before getting shoved off of the top turnbuckle onto the outside of the ring. I look up to see Eve standing by where I had been.
Well played, Eve.
The referee starts to count. "1!"
"2!"
I slowly start to try to get myself off of the ground.
"3!"
"4!"
Kelly runs over and helps me up as Beth tags in Eve.
"5!"
I slide back into the ring. Eve runs at me, but I hit her with a Spinebuster. I lock Eve in an Armbar. She manages to make it to the ropes, causing me to break the submission hold.
We both get up, and she nails me with a Dropkick. Eve then goes for a Standing Moonsault. However, I get the knees up to counter in time. Eve rolls over. I get up and grab her before hitting a Suplex. I pin Eve.
1…2…kickout!
I go to hit Eve with a Running Dropkick, but she moves out of the way. I get caught up in the ring ropes. Eve kicks while I'm still caught in the ropes before she pulls me out of the ropes to hit me with a DDT. Eve pins me.
1…2…kickout!
Eve gets frustrated and slams her hands on the mat. We both get up and start exchanging Right Hands. I kick Eve in the gut before hitting her with a DDT. She rolls over to one of the corners to help herself get up. I hit her with a Handspring Elbow before she can fully recover. Eve falls back down. I lift Eve up into the Fireman's Carry position before walking to the middle of the ring. I smile before hitting Eve with the Picture Perfect. I pin Eve.

Beth breaks the pin before shoving me to the ground. She then pulls Eve to their corner before tagging herself.
Beth levels me with a Clothesline before hooking both of my arms for a Glam Slam. I stomp on her knee that I've been targeting in matches over the past few months and force her to release the arms. I jump off of Beth before hitting her with a Running Knee. I pin Beth.
1…2…kickout!
Beth and I exchange Right Hands. She takes me out with a Clothesline. Beth then picks me up and locks me in a Bear Hug. Kelly comes in the ring and gets me out of the submission hold.
Once I have escaped the Bear Hug, I kick Beth in the gut. Kelly and I both grab Beth to hit a Suplex, but Eve gets involved and grabs Kelly. We go back and forth, but Eve and Beth hit a Double Suplex on me and Kelly. Beth pins me.
1…2…kickout!
Beth grabs me and throws me across the ring. She then picks me up and hits me with a Suplex. Beth goes for the Glam Slam and pins me.
1…2…kickout!
Beth grabs me in preparation for another Glam Slam, but I stun her with a Headbutt. I kick Beth in the gut and throw her into Eve, knocking Eve off of the apron. I kick Beth in the gut again before hitting her with the Chaotic Ending. I pin Beth.
1…2…3!
"Here are your winners, Kelly Kelly and Marissa Orton!"
I smiled in the ring as I celebrated with Kelly, glad to be lucky enough to have another WrestleMania moment. I then noted to myself that I just pinned the Divas Champion again. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to go after another Divas Championship match against Beth soon.
Randy and I sat in our locker-room with the monitor turned on to watch the Team Johnny vs Team Teddy match. It was just starting. I smiled as I leaned on Randy.
Ted and Ryse walked in. I glanced at both of them.
"Did it start yet?" Ted asks.
"It just did. Come sit." I reply.
Ted and Ryse sit down on the couch with me and Randy.
"I'm assuming you are wanting to get another Divas Championship match after pinning Beth tonight?" Randy quietly asks.
I nod. "I thought it may not be a bad idea."
"Okay." Randy kisses my cheek.
I smile as I realize we just came to an understanding where he was cool with me going for the Divas Championship at least one last time.
Ted, Ryse, Randy, and I watched the match in silence. All four of us were very worried about this match. We all had been rooting for Teddy Long's team this whole time. If Teddy's team didn't win, then John Laurinaitis would be running both Raw and SmackDown, which would lead to nothing but trouble, especially for me and Randy.
Zack Ryder was on a roll against Team Johnny. Eve climbed into the ring to taunt to the crowd with Zack.
"What is Eve doing?" Ted asks. "She shouldn't be in the ring with him."
"She probably just got caught up in the moment." Ryse replies. "It is WrestleMania after all."
Zack gets distracted by the referee going to get Eve out of the ring. Miz grabs Zack and hits him with the Skull Crushing Finale before pinning him.
1…2…3!
"The winners of this match, Team Johnny!"
"Oh no." I mutter.
Team Johnny celebrates in the ring before heading backstage. Team Teddy stands in the ring, distraught. Eve goes to console Zack, but she then gives him a low blow.
All of us watched with surprised faces. Eve had just cost Teddy Long everything. She was supposed to be one of my best friends. She was aware that I had been siding with Teddy Long.
That couldn't have been scripted. Eve essentially double-crossed the majority of the WWE roster. Eve just sent us all into John Laurinaitis's reign of terror.
Ted gives me a concerned look. "Rissa, are you alright?"
I shake my head. "I'm going to kick Eve's ass."
Randy watches me as I pace around our hotel room. "We don't have to have my birthday dinner tonight if you're too stressed out, Rissa."
I stop pacing around and look at him. "I made a reservation for it, and it's more than just you and me. We have to go tonight."
"Who all is on this reservation?"
"You, me, Tyler, Kenny, Colby, Adam, John, Ted, Ryse, Sheamus, Chris, Cody, and well…Eve."
"Take her off the reservation, babe. She's got you all stressed out and took Teddy Long out of power."
"It'll piss her off."
"So? She screwed Team Teddy tonight and is the only reason that John Laurinaitis is still going to be a problem for both of us. Plus, I don't want to see her. I'm mad at her too, and it'll only stress you out more."
I sat on the edge of the bed. "I'll take her off of the reservation. Sorry about being so stressed out. Just this whole thing Eve pulled tonight and John Laurinaitis remaining in power is stressful. I know it's going to cause me a lot of problems. Then, there's the fact that Brock Lesnar is going to be back at any time, which could cause you and John problems. I'm just stressed."
"I know, beautiful. Let's just relax. I just want to enjoy the night with you. I may have lost my match against Kane tonight, but I still have some positive emotions. Let's go have my birthday dinner."
I nod. "We should probably get going."
"Let's head out then."
Randy and I enter the restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, to eat his birthday dinner with the others.
"I don't see the others at all yet." Randy says as he looks around.
I lean on him. "Looks like it's just us for now."
"Just the way I like it."
I smile as I approach the waitress at the front. "Hi. Reservation for Orton please."
"Reservation for Orton…" The waitress says. "Reservation for thirteen?"
"It was originally thirteen. It will now be twelve. Only us two are here so far."
"Who am I taking off this reservation?"
"Eve Torres."
"Alright, right this way please."
The waitress leads Randy and me to a private room. "Do you want to order now or wait for the rest of your party?"
"Uh…we'll wait for the rest of our party." I reply.
"Alright. I'll be back later to take your orders."
"Thank you."
Randy and I sit down.
"Thanks." Randy whispers.
I pull a wrapped gift out of my purse. "I guess since we're just waiting around, I can give you this."
"I'll never say no to a gift." Randy takes and opens the gift, a travel coffee cup with pictures of us on it. "Babe, I love this. Thank you so much."
"Absolutely."
Randy kisses me. "You're the best, sweetheart."
I kiss him back. "I know."
"Ew, kissing." Tyler says as he, Colby, and Kenny arrive. "Why do you always have your tongues down each other's throats?"
"I love my husband." I say as I grin.
"It's my birthday, boys." Randy mutters. "I'll kiss her until I physically can't kiss her anymore."
"This is going to be a good birthday for you."
As we all sit eating dinner together, my cell phone rings. I grab my phone out of my purse to check it. It's Eve. I roll my eyes before declining the call and putting my phone on silent.
Ryse looks at me. "Who was that?"
I sigh. "It was Eve."
"You think she was trying to get in?"
I roll my eyes. "Probably."
Randy gives me a serious look. "Don't let Eve get under your skin."
"I won't." I steal a bite from Randy's slice of cheesecake.
Colby raises his eyebrow. "If that was anyone else, they would have gotten beaten up for stealing a bite of cheesecake."
I shrug. "The rest of you didn't pay for this. I did."
Randy chuckles. "The rest of them also don't sleep with me."
"That too."
Adam smiles as he looks at me and Randy. "I'm glad you two found each other to be happy."
I smile as I lean on Randy. "Me too. Happy birthday, Randy."
