Randy walks in with a grin. "Well, look at you, Divas Champion. That thing looks damn good when it's with you, Rissa."
I give a small smile. "Thanks, Randy."
"There's a Beat the Clock Challenge tonight. The winner becomes the Number One Contender for the WWE Championship. I'm in it."
"That's great. Who are you facing?"
"Jack Swagger, I think it's a good idea to bring you along to deal with Vickie Guerrero."
I sigh. "Actually…"
"What's wrong?"
"I have to defend the Divas Championship tonight, so I don't think going with you is happening tonight."
"You have to defend your Divas Championship already? What's the match?"
"I'm facing Nikki and Brie in a Triple Threat."
"That's ridiculous. Good luck tonight. Don't worry about me and my match."
"Thanks. You call it ridiculous, but I saw this coming. Laurinaitis doesn't want me to be wrestling, let alone being the Divas Champion. He had the odds stacked against me last night, and I still managed to become Divas Champion. Now, he's gonna treat me like Punk and do everything in his power to take this away from me."
"On the bright side, Punk still has his championship, so that hasn't worked well for Laurinaitis."
"That's true. I'm going to end that match as quickly as I can, and then I'm cutting a promo to let everyone know that I'm not backing down from anything."
"That sounds like the wife that I know and love. You'll do great."
"Thanks." I glance towards the TV, which is showing the first segment of the night of John Laurinaitis giving Brock Lesnar everything he wants in a new contract. "This is ridiculous. I need to be in guerilla after this is over. I'm second on the match card."
Randy nods. "Okay. You're right. This is ridiculous."
We watch in silence until Triple H comes out. He tears up what was supposed to be Brock's new contract.
"I'm glad there's still one sane authority figure around here." I comment.
"No kidding." Randy mutters.
We watch as Brock locks Triple H's arm in a Kimura Lock.
"What the hell is wrong with him?!" I ask in panic.
Randy gives me a serious look as a few Superstars to save Triple H. "Paul is tough. He'll be alright."
I shake my head. "I think Brock broke his arm. I need to start heading to guerilla for my match. Will you promise me that you'll head to see Paul and tell me how he's doing?"
Randy nods. "Of course. Miz has the first match of the show. Will you tell me what time he gets so I know what I need to beat?"
"Of course. I'll see you later."
"Okay. Focus on your match, Rissa."
"I will."
You can look, but you can't touch
You keep dreaming on the stars above…
"The following Triple Threat match is scheduled for one fall and is for the WWE Divas Championship! Introducing first, from Scottsdale, Arizona, Nikki and Brie, the Bella Twins!"
I know I want that girl so bad
I lie awake at night
And think of all the things that I would do
With a girl like that…
"And their opponent, from Saint Louis, Missouri, the WWE Divas Champion, the Queen of Chaos, Marissa Orton!"
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Nikki and Brie are arguing in the ring. I stand and watch, thinking about what I should do to make a move. I Dropkick them both, and Nikki rolls out of the ring. I grab Brie and hit her with a Chaotic Ending in the middle of the ring. I pin Brie.
1…2…3!
"Here is your winner and STILL the WWE Divas Champion, Marissa Orton!"
I smile as I celebrate in the ring and Nikki and Brie are walking up the ramp. I take my Divas Championship from the referee before motioning for a microphone.
I take a microphone. "Last night at Extreme Rules, I went through a Championship Scramble match and walked out of that match as the new Divas Champion. In doing so, I also made history and became the first woman to be the WWE Divas Champion on three separate occasions. Of course, I know that there's a lot of things that come with being a champion here in WWE. One of those things is having a target on your back. I'm well aware that there is a target on my back, and to anyone, I mean anyone, in the back who wants to take this away from me, bring it on. I busted my ass last night to become Divas Champion, and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon."
I drop the microphone before my theme song starts to play. I exit the ring and walk towards the stage with a smirk on my face, knowing that my message was clearly delivered.
As I arrive backstage, John Laurinaitis is surprisingly nowhere to be found. However, Eve is around.
Eve glares at me. "We'll see how long your Divas Championship reign truly lasts."
I smirk. "Eve, you could get in the ring yourself to face me, and at the end of the match, this Divas Championship would still be mine."
I sigh as I hangout with Randy in our hotel room. "I swear if I get my hands on Brock or Laurinaitis, they're done for."
Randy gives me a concerned look. "I know you're pissed, but think about this. Cena gets to wrestle Laurinaitis at Over the Limit. He'll give Laurinaitis some extra beating for us."
"That's great and all, but what about Brock Lesnar?"
"If Paul doesn't go after Brock Lesnar himself once his arm has healed, then we'll figure something out. I'll go wrestle that asshole if I have to. Can we relax now? We've just got to get through SmackDown tomorrow, and then we have our anniversary on Friday."
"I'm gonna read one of the letters from my mom."
Randy sighs. "Okay."
I open the letter numbered twenty-five.
Date: October 25, 2004
Dear Marissa, I just spoke to your brother Colby. He told me that you're coming to see us next week.
I'm really glad that you've decided to come. I haven't gotten to see you in over nineteen years.
I know that I'm going to have anxiety about this for the week, and you may be having anxiety as well. I hope I get to fix things and have a good relationship with you. We'll just have to see how things go next week. See you soon.
Love, Mom
I put the letter back and sigh as I look at Randy.
Randy grabs my hand. "Can you agree to something for me?"
I shrug. "What is it?"
"As much as I want you to read all of these letters from your mom, will you wait until after our anniversary to read any more? They tend to upset you, and I want you to be happy on our wedding anniversary."
I nod. "I'll agree to that."
"Thank you."
