Raw: May 7, 2012

Randy smiles at me as he notices that I'm already in ring gear when he enters the locker-room. "Please tell me that you're not defending your Divas Championship again already."

I smile. "I'm not. I have a Tag Team match with Layla against Natalya and Maxine."

"Maxine?"

"She was a rookie on the season of NXT that I was a Pro on. She was Alicia Fox's rookie."

"Oh, I vaguely remember now. You didn't like her, did you?"

"Not really, but I've seen some of her stuff from NXT and FCW. She knows how to wrestle. I have to watch out for her during this match. Unfortunately, that's not the only thing I have to worry about."

"What else do you have to worry about? Eve fired Nikki and Brie last week, which I know neither of us particularly agree with, so they aren't around to be targeting you. Who's got you all concerned?"

I sigh. "Beth is already back. She's entitled to get a rematch for the Divas Championship. There's no way she doesn't get it granted to her soon, especially considering that my track record against her in recent times hasn't been the best."

Randy frowns as he looks at his phone. "Well, you weren't wrong about that."

I give Randy a confused look. "Do you know something that I don't?"

Randy passes his phone to me as someone knocks on our door. "Just read this. Door's open!"

Layla walks in. "Hey, Rissa, ready for our Tag Team match tonight? What's wrong?"

I sigh after reading the article that Randy had pulled up on his phone. "WWE's website announced that I'm facing Beth at Over the Limit. Of course, my Divas Championship will be on the line."

"That doesn't sound fun. I missed wrestling, but I definitely didn't miss wrestling against Beth."

"No kidding. I know I'm capable of beating her, but I've lost to Beth in the last three Divas Championship matches I've had against her. This is gonna be a tough one."

"But this is you we're talking about, Rissa. You can win a Championship Scramble match, so you can beat Beth."

Randy nods. "Layla has a great point there, Rissa. Don't be hard on yourself."

"Yeah, you'll be fine. If you keep doubting yourself, either Randy or I will have to put you on the phone with Chelle and have her talk some sense into you."

"That's a measure I'm willing to take." Randy kisses my forehead. "I'm going to go look for Sheamus because we also have a Tag Team match tonight. I'll see later."

I smile. "Okay. See you later, babe."

"Bye." Randy leaves.

Layla gives me a serious look. "Are we very worried about our Tag Team match tonight?"

I shake my head. "No, I'm worried about my match with Beth. The part I think I'm most upset about is finding out about it from an article."

"Yeah, I think that's ridiculous too. If that was Eve's doing, she's getting out of control."

"You're right, and it may have been her."

"What's her deal anyway?"

I shrug. "I'm not entirely sure, but since she's a part of John Laurinaitis's administration now, I assume she got power hungry."

"Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me."

Maxine and Natalya were already in the ring. I stand with Layla in guerilla as I can sense Eve glaring in our direction.

You're not enough for me (Oh no no)

Just another man in love with me (Just another man ooh)

Gotta open up your eyes and see (hey, hey Oh well)

You're not enough for me (oh no)...

"And their opponents, first, from Miami, Florida, Layla!"

I know I want that girl so bad

I lie awake at night

And think of all the things that I would do

With a girl like that…

"And her partner, from Saint Louis, Missouri, she is the WWE Divas Champion, the Queen of Chaos, Marissa Orton!"

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Layla and Maxine start the match off, but my focus is somewhere else, on Beth, who is on Commentary. Natalya tries to get involved in the match without making a tag. To stop Natalya from giving the heels the advantage, I run over and pull her off the apron. Natalya glares at me, and I hit her with a Superkick. I turn my attention to Beth, and we stare each other down.

Beth motions to her waist. I roll my eyes at her before glancing back at the ring.

Layla hits Maxine with a Layout and pins her.

1…2…3!

"Here are your winners, Layla and Marissa Orton!"

I grab my Divas Championship before entering the ring to celebrate with Layla. I glance back at Beth before raising my Divas Championship in the air.

This is my Divas Championship. There is no chance that I'm letting Beth take this away from me this soon.

Randy and I were driving through Asheville, heading to my Aunt Caroline's house. She knew we were coming and was allowing us to stay the night after coming to visit her and her family.

I spot a house that has a cute yard sign that has "The Jennings" written on it. "Randy, it's this one."

"Okay." Randy pulls into the driveway and parks the car.

"Looks like we're good. Ready to head inside?"

"Let's grab our suitcases real quick since we're spending the night here."

"Okay."

We both exit the car and grab our suitcases out of the trunk.

Randy smiles as he shuts the trunk. "Are we all good?"

"We are. Let's head inside." I start walking towards the front door.

Randy follows me to the front door. I ring the doorbell. My cousin Brittany, who is currently in college, opens the door.

"Rissa! Randy! Hi!" Brittany says with excitement. "Come on in!"

"Thanks, Britt." I say as Randy and I enter the house. "How's college going?"

"Fantastic! I finally graduate with my Master's degree in a couple weeks. I should probably tell Mom and Steve that you're here. Mom! Steve! Rissa and Randy are here!"

Aunt Caroline comes into the room as Randy and I are taking our shoes off. "Hey, kids! Glad you could make it. Steve is helping the kids with something for a few minutes, so he'll be around a few minutes."

"Hi, Aunt Caroline." I say before hugging her. "How are things going?"

"Oh, you know, the usual pretty much. I'm glad you could come see us though. Did you two eat dinner? We had lasagna for dinner tonight. There's plenty of leftovers."

"We'll probably have to take you up on that."

Aunt Caroline grins as she hugs Randy. "Feel free to do that. Hey, Randy. Awfully quiet over there."

Randy hugs Aunt Caroline. "Hey, Caroline. I'm just letting you talk to your niece. I'm still as talkative as ever."

Aunt Caroline laughs. "That's good to hear. This is nice. I haven't seen you two since your wedding last year."

"Well…you know how it is for us. We're always traveling for work. It's hard to find time to travel for other reasons."

"Of course. I understand. Let me show you two to the guest room. Britt, go check up on Steve and your siblings."

Brittany nods. "On it."

Randy and I follow Aunt Caroline upstairs to the guest room.

Aunt Caroline opens the door. "I don't know what you two are used to, but this is our guest room. It should be far enough from the younger kids that you should be able to get plenty of sleep before you head back on the road tomorrow afternoon."

"This is fantastic." I comment. "Thanks, Aunt Caroline."

"Yeah, Caroline, this is perfect." Randy states. "Thank you."

"Of course, I'm going to head downstairs. Come on down once you've settled in."

Aunt Caroline leaves the room. I put my suitcases down in a corner of the room.

Randy puts his suitcases down as well. "This is pretty nice, Rissa. I'm lucky that you have really nice relatives."

I shake my head. "Some of them are nice."

Randy grabs me and pulls me close. "If you say so. Man, you're amazing."

"You aren't so bad yourself."

"I'm the best." Randy starts kissing at my neck.

I give him a serious look. "We're around my family right now."

"None of them are near this room."

"But we need to get downstairs, Randy."

Randy sighs. "Fine."

"We'll be by ourselves tomorrow though."

Randy smirks. "We'll have to pick up on things tomorrow then. Let's head downstairs."

"Okay."

Randy grabs my hand, and we head downstairs.

As we arrive downstairs, my Aunt Caroline's husband, my Uncle Steve pulls me into a hug. "Hey, glad to see you!"

I smile. "Glad to see you too, Uncle Steve."

Uncle Steve hugs Randy as well. "How are you doing, big guy?"

Randy laughs. "Pretty good, Steve. How about you?"

"Everything is going smoothly. Plenty of stuff to do at work. Then, I come home to Caroline and the kids. It's great."

"I bet."

"I know you two still need to eat. Go grab some food. I'm gonna get the kids to come down here, so you can see them before they go to bed."

"Okay. Thanks, Steve."

Randy and I enter the dining room. Aunt Caroline smiles and hands us both plates. Randy and I sit down and start eating.

Aunt Caroline sits down at the table. "I watched Extreme Rules. Congratulations on becoming Divas Champion again, Marissa."

I smile. "Thank you. This food is fantastic."

"Thank you. I really tried."

"It's great."

A small toddler comes running my way. "Rissa!"

I pick up the small toddler. "Hi, Charlotte! You've gotten so big!"

"I'm four!" Charlotte says with a big smile on her face.

"You're becoming such a big girl!"

"I know."

Randy chuckles. "Man, you're such a big kid. Are you in school yet?"

Charlotte smiles. "I'm in preschool."

Aunt Caroline nods. "She's actually about done with that. She'll be in kindergarten in a few months."

"That's great." I say as Charlotte sits on my lap. "She's got those typical Barnes girl genes."

Aunt Caroline laughs. "Yeah, the light blonde hair and blue eyes, Britt and I have those traits too. As do you…every female descendant of Laurel Barnes carried on those traits."

"We all took Grandma Laurel's genes."

"The lady had some strong genes." Steve comments as he comes back with their two other children, Matthew and Joshua, following him.

Matthew and Joshua both wave at me and Randy. Brittany also comes into the room.

"I'm going to head out. I need to get some good sleep before school tomorrow." Brittany says. "I'm sorry I couldn't stay later, Rissa and Randy. I'll see you whenever the next time you're around."

"Bye, Brittany." Randy replies.

"Bye, Britt." I say as I finish eating.

"Bye!" Brittany says before leaving.

After my cousins went to bed, Randy and I sat in the dining room with my aunt and uncle.

"So…Uncle Steve?" I ask. "Do you have any time to look over something that I'm dealing with?"

Uncle Steve raises an eyebrow. "Like a court case?"

"Well…it's not been in a court yet, but it's a lawsuit."

"Okay. Are you the plaintiff or the defendant?"

"I'm the plaintiff, like always."

Uncle Steve laughs. "I bet your lawyer gets pretty well paid. If you ever need a new one, let me know. I'll look at whatever this is."

"Okay. I have a file upstairs for you to go through. I can go get it."

Randy stops me from getting up. "I need to get my cigarettes anyway. I'll go get the file, Rissa."

"Oh okay."

Uncle Steve nods. "I need to smoke too. Bring that file, and we can go look at it while we smoke on the front porch, Randy."

Randy smiles. "Sounds like a plan."

As Randy and Uncle Steve were outside, Aunt Caroline and I hung out in the kitchen.

Aunt Caroline pours a glass of wine and hands it to me. "Here, how was the wedding anniversary?"

I smile. "It was fantastic. We spent the whole day together."

"What all did you do?"

"Well, we went and found a dog that we're adopting."

"Really? That's cool. I didn't expect you to be an animal person."

"I don't have an issue with animals. I've just never had a pet. Randy really wanted a dog. I figured that this was the closest we'll probably be getting to having a child together for now. We both fell in love with this dog at the shelter. As of now, we're undecided on his name, but we're adopting him."

"That's adorable. What else did you do?"

"We bought stuff for the dog. That night we went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. As for after dinner…well…"

Aunt Caroline laughs. "I remember those days. It was your anniversary. I can't blame you for that. Glad you had a good time."

"Me too."

"So what else have you been up to?"

I shrug. "Not much really. There's something I did want to talk about though."

"And what's that?"

"Well…uh, for about ten months now, I've had some things from a deceased relative that I've been reading. Admittedly, what I read gets under my skin quite a bit, and I just don't understand the point of some of the things I've read."

Aunt Caroline sighs. "Are they letters from your mother?"

"Yeah…how did you know that?"

"She wrote letters for a few more people other than her kids. I was one of those people, as was your grandma and your Uncle Jerry. We've had ours pretty much since she passed though. I knew you had some though because your stepfather David called me after he found boxes with you kids' names on them."

"Oh, I see."

"You know, your mother, Janine, was never one to really think with her head. Obviously, she left you and Tyler without a mother when you were pretty young. I don't understand why, and she never wrote about that topic to me. However, she probably just wants you to know what she's been thinking about during those times. Maybe you aren't meant to understand why she did the things that she did."

"But she wrote me so many letters, like double what either Tyler or Colby got. Why did she write so much to me?"

"I can't really give you an answer to that. She was probably the only person who could."

"You're probably right. I just…I just don't understand why I let everything she wrote get to me so much."

"I could be wrong, but maybe you aren't over what happened between you and her. She's been gone for over six years now, but you never really got closure on that."

"I don't think you're wrong."

"I'm not saying that you definitely need it, but have you ever thought about getting therapy?"

I shake my head. "No, but maybe that's not a bad idea. I'm going to head upstairs and call it a night. Thank you for having us. Will you tell Randy that I'm in bed when he gets back inside?"

"Of course. Goodnight, sweetie."

"Goodnight."
