SmackDown Filming: May 15, 2012
Randy sat next to me in the locker-room. "Nothing again tonight for you?"
I sigh as I lean on his shoulder. "No, nothing at all."
"Well, I'm facing Sheamus in tonight's main event. Come manage me, Rissa."
"I don't know, Randy. I like the idea of just watching from here."
Randy rolled his eyes. "Don't say I didn't offer to have you manage me."
"Oh fine, I'll go. When do I not take you up on that?"
Randy laughed. "As long as you can make it work, you'll manage me when I ask."
"Exactly. I don't say no unless there is a good reason."
"Fair enough. Do you have anything to keep your eye on at all tonight?"
"Not really. Both Layla and Beth aren't here. I don't have any matches to keep my eye on."
"Sounds like it might be a good opportunity to try to snag yourself an interview."
"You think so?"
"Yeah, you're the Divas Champion. Don't you want the last word before your match this Sunday?"
"I do actually. That isn't a bad idea."
"I'm full of great ideas. Wait, Rissa, where's Spike?"
"Ted and Cody have him. Don't worry. He's in good hands, Randal."
"Okay. I was just concerned."
"They wanted to play with him for a while. I let them watch him for a while."
"That's fine. How are you going to snag yourself an interview?"
"I'll find a way." I say just as someone knocks on the door.
I opened the door to see McKenzie, the stagehand that I had personally gotten hired, standing in front of me.
McKenzie smiled. "Hey, Rissa, can't stay for long, but I'm supposed to let you know that you have an interview with Matt Striker tonight."
I nod. "Okay. Thanks, McKenzie."
"No problem. Bye." McKenzie walks away.
I smile before closing the door. "That was weird."
Randy laughs. "It was, but you have your interview."
"Yeah, I need to figure out what I'm wearing for TV tonight."
Randy grins. "Let me help you pick an outfit."
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time." Matt Striker says as we start filming the interview. "She is the WWE Divas Champion, Marissa Orton."
I walk into the interview area. "What's up, Matt?"
"What's up? Marissa, this Sunday at Over the Limit, you will be defending your Divas Championship against Beth Phoenix and Layla in a Triple Threat match. Do you have any concerns going into this Triple Threat match?"
"No, I don't have any concerns about this Triple Threat match. I will walk out still the WWE Divas Champion. I guarantee it."
"Well, last Monday on Raw, you were able to get a jump on Beth Phoenix, but Layla was able to lay you out. Isn't that concerning?"
"If I was concerned, I wouldn't be Marissa Orton. I know how to beat Beth Phoenix, and I know how to beat Layla. I'm not worried."
"Be that as it is, you don't have to be pinned this Sunday to lose the Divas Championship."
"You're not wrong, but I'm not losing my Divas Championship. I just got this back. No matter how much someone wants me to lose. I won't. Thanks for the interview, Matt." I walk away from the interview with a smirk.
All I needed to get some confidence was to be in character for a little bit. I'll be just fine on Sunday.
I headed into Catering after my interview. I grab food and a drink before looking for a place to sit down.
I spot Punk and sit down with him. "How did I know you'd be in here?"
Punk shrugs. "Because we're friends I guess. What's up?"
"Not much. I saw your bit with John Laurinaitis earlier."
"And you agree with me I'm sure."
"I do. I'm actually glad you said something to him because I can't."
"Because of your lawsuit?"
"Yeah, we actually go to court soon."
"That's good. I hope it goes the way that you want it to."
"I think it will. I've had my personal lawyer look over my case as well as my Uncle Steve, who works for a law firm."
"That's good. When do you go to court?"
"Wednesday of next week."
"Good luck."
"Thanks, Punk. I should probably finish eating soon. I need to join Randy in guerilla soon."
"Okay."
It's a shame that lost their head
A careless man who could wind up dead
You wear your sin like it's some kind of prize
Too many lies, too many lies…
"The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Dublin, Ireland, weighing in at 267 pounds, the World Heavyweight Champion, the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus!"
I hear voices in my head
They council me
They understand
They talk to me…
"And his opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Marissa, from Saint Louis, Missouri, weighing in at 245 pounds, the Apex Predator, Randy Orton!"
Ding! Ding! Ding!
I really try to stay focused on the match, but I can't focus due to everything that is on my mind right now, including my match, as well as therapy and court that were both coming up.
I start to pay attention just as Randy hits Sheamus with a Superplex. Randy pins Sheamus.
1…2…kickout!
Both men struggle to get up, but they both do. Randy kicks Sheamus in the gut before they start exchanging punches. Sheamus drives Randy into the corner and drives his shoulder into Randy's gut. They both get out of the corner. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Randy avoids it. Sheamus ends up on the apron, so Randy catches him with the Draping DDT. Randy goes for the RKO, but Sheamus counters it. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick again, but Randy avoids it. Randy tries for the RKO again, but Sheamus rolls him into a pin.
1…2…3!
"Here is your winner, Sheamus!"
I sigh before glancing at Randy, who is sitting by the ropes. Sheamus is celebrating in the ring with his World Heavyweight Championship.
Randy looks at Sheamus. "You got me."
Randy gets up and extends a hand to Sheamus. Sheamus doesn't shake Randy's hand. The two men have a quiet conversation that I can't quite understand. Randy extends his hand again, and the two men shake hands. Randy then hits Sheamus with the RKO. Randy stares at the World Heavyweight Championship before taunting to the crowd. Randy finally exits the ring. I ran over to catch up with him.
I smile. "You sneaky man."
Randy puts his arm around me. "He should've known better. I know you weren't fully paying attention."
I bit my lip and tried to remain in character to the eyes of the crowd. "There's just a lot on my mind."
